First time in Manchester and came across this place while walking around. Stands out because of the beautiful buildings taking you back in time while surrounded by modern buildings and shops which makes it stand out even more. We were lucky enough to get a table . Noticed the bee network advertising and wooden carved bee at Victoria Station so started off with the Bees Bounty Spritz.... soooo lovely. I asked our lovely waitress Olivia for a recommendation and she suggested the beef shin pie with creamy mash and carrots for me. LOVED IT! My partner had the chicken burger which was crispy and not dry and washed it down with a lovely cider on rap. We finished off with an apple and blackberry crumble. Nice and tart topped with strawberries and had a mint taste which complimented it and loved the custard. Beautiful interior and vibe... cosy, charming and great food and drinks. Twas lovely

Went in for an early lunch, ordered the garlic mushrooms on toast, with spinach and ciabatta and the croquettes. It felt as if the staff put little to no care into the food. The mushrooms were overcooked and dry, no spinach in sight and little to no garlic flavour (kind of expecting a garlic sauce or at least some garlic flavour). Topped off by the staff member letting me go get my own cutlery, which I eventually found in a drawer on the till station. It just felt as if corners were cut and simple elements of hospitality were overlooked. I'm not a fan of negative reviews, but I left feeling mugged off and disappointed. However, they do serve a banging pint of Black Sheep.

Omg this place is SO CUTE! Catherine was our server and despite having a fully booked house upstairs she was very attentive! We walked in with no reservation and were warned ahead of time we’d have to wait for food because of the private dinner on the top floor, and it was totally worth the wait. We appreciated the heads up and were happy to sit and enjoy our drinks while we waited for food. The fish and chips were fantastic. We also really enjoyed the scotch egg, halloumi fries and the sausage and mash. Bar staff was knowledgeable about beers and liquor offerings, which was helpful as we’re here from the US and wanted to try some local options. We finished our night with the sticky toffee pudding which was delicious. We will be back next time we’re in town!

It was a 4 until I went to the loo. The ladies toilets do not work properly. Neither of them on the ground floor flush properly. I waited until the cistern had refilled and tried flushing again. It would still only flush at 1/4 flush each time. Nothing is actually flushed. The air drier doesn't stay on long enough to actually dry your hands. No amount of waving your hands can make it come back on. The tables are all rickety. The whole place was moved less than 30 years ago, 300m from it's original location after it was affected by an IRA bomb so you'd figure they'd fix the floor. Maybe it's supposed to be part of the atmosphere but as a client of the establishment-its not. It plain inconvenient and unsettling. We tried a few tables and chairs out in case some were better than others - didn't make too much of a difference. The old style decor and 'pulling' a beer - fantastic! We didn't eat here.

I have mixed feelings about this experience. Yes the building and the interior is beautiful and so medieval 🏰. The meal was so delicious and different. Just one plate was even enough to full our stomachs. And the dessert was just the perfect finisher. But the attitudes of some of the waiters made us feel like we were not welcomed even tho we had a reservation. I can understand they are busy and tired but still. They were somewhat acting irritated. Well I don’t know. Like I said it was not all of the waiters. I hope it was just a bad shift for them and not their always mood.

The Old Wellington was quite a find and quite a catch to stumble upon in the streets of Manchester. The pub building itself dates back to the 1500’s and the current chain and owner back to the 1800’s. This place is as cozy, relaxing and laidback as it can be with brown and vibrant interior, skilled and cheerful staff and great food. An extra bonus is their drinks menu offering locally made beers and ciders definetly worth trying, it was quite the experience!

Historic pub with great selection of beer. Bar snacks available but food served in the restaurant on the 1st floor. My mistake was to go to the 2nd floor in the very interesting roof space - mind your head on the crossbeams! But despite menus on the table and waiters bringing food, I was ignored even after calling after one. After 20 mins I went down to the restaurant. Fully booked. Upstairs? Seems you MUST order online. Staff are aware of this confusion. So got online and tried to order. Selected dish and screen goes grey. After scrolling around found the allergy warning. Tried to pay but you have to create an account! I gave up and left at this point. Oh and the site had an ad at the bottom masquerading as controls for the site.

For food we split the Beef Rib, Shin and Brisket Pie served with long stem broccoli, mashed potatoes and carrots. The Pie was really tasty and rich. The meat was tender. The let downs were the carrots and broccoli (the broccoli was an extra £3). The carrot was pretty much raw and the broccoli was over cooked, lacked flavour and 4 very small pieces for £3! The other let down was the service. We didn’t even get a hello upon waiting for a table or when the server came over to take our order. Basically it was what do you want. Our server obviously didn’t want to be at work. He was angry and it showed with everything he was doing around the restaurant. Even swearing under his breath while setting tables. Shame really because there is potential. The pie was superb and with a little work the sides could be too! And fix the service and this place could be great! We did check google reviews and decided to give it a go based on this. But usually we stay clear of these places as they tend to be gimicky and touristy and I think this again was the case unfortunately.

The pub looks lovely from outside. The good reviews led me here. However, my experience was disappointing. The music in the pub is too loud and not appropriate to the audience and not fitting for the pub vibe either. After a while I was greeted by a waiter who didn't want me there. I didn't feel welcome but rather like an unwanted chore. He only warmed up when he realised how much I ordered for one person. In the end he was very efficient with bringing the food and bill though. The best part about my experience were the non-alcoholic drinks. They were really tasty. I then snuggled into a gorgeous corner in the pub, unfortunately near the kitchen. From the kitchen there was a blasting sound of rap music and a chef that was rapping along. It was so loud that one could clearly hear it in the guest room. The food was the worst part though, the sausages had dry ends and the brokkoli tastwd like it had been fried in old oil. However, the mashed potatoes and the gravy were delicious. Overall it was not a nice pub experience and I won't come back unfortunately.

The rooms are a bit small and the layout is a bit crooked, and it can be a bit difficult to reach the rooms inside the hotel, there is a slight labyrinth atmosphere. Of course, since it is a historical building, it has structural difficulties. But the location is almost right in the middle of the city, so it's great. You will also be very comfortable if you choose the package that includes breakfast.

A pretty good Weather spoons, fast service with the app, I didn't eat there but the missing fifth star is because the food being eaten by my neighbouring customers did not look appealing and one said it was not tasty.
