Very nice place in the centre of MCR. Unfortunately I have to consider food no good as we expected for being a traditional kitchen. We had fish and chips, with fish soggy in the oil, chips uncooked and a baked lemon (why not fresh???). They don't have a local beer in the restaurant menu, but they have foreign drinks such as Italian beer, south Africa red wine (???) and so on. I was forced to have Pinot Grigio Rosé (What's that??? We don't serve it now ere here in IT) and was not good, tasted like gasoline. I drunk it just because it was very expensive for being so awful, I wanted to forget. My ears were in pain for the music inside, they have the best musician in the world but they don't recognize and appreciate them at all. By the way, staff was very gentle and professional and they make a discount on the bill. Greetings.

Nice historical pub in the city center of Manchester. Doesn’t have happy hour but enjoyed the vibe and ambiance. The bathroom wasn’t fully functional as there’s no paper towels, toilets don’t flush properly and the hand dryer acts up a bit.

Came here for Sunday lunch a couple of days ago. Kitchen was not fully functioning at the time, but we decided to stay. Unfortunately the Sunday lunch, which was chicken only was very poor. It was expensive, cold and not a lot of food on the plate for the money. We were given a free bottle of wine as we complained, but would rather have had good food instead.

No customers at the bar and yet the 2 bar staff, who were just chatting to each other, with no customers to be served (not even those on the first floor) failed to remember to bring all 3 drinks we had ordered. We only ordered 2 bowls of chips as a snack and it took quite a long time to arrive. £40 for 2 glasses of wine, a pint of Neckoil and 2 bowls of chips feels expensive given the lack of attention. Wouldn't be happy to recommend this place.

We had a drink here in the pub, the atmosphere on site is really nice and the cider on tap was delicious. The next evening we had food delivered from here. We had fish and chips and a vegetarian bowl. Something was missing from both dishes and neither was seasoned. Fries without salt... The fish and chips were missing the tartar sauce and the lemon and the bowl was missing the quinoa salad, the rice, the crispy kale and the dressing. This order was really disappointing and way too expensive. At least the order arrived quickly.

Our first time in Manchester, just needed a light bite and pepsi before we could check in to our hotel. We walked in and saw the seating was full inside so we went outside as plenty of spaces. After ordering food I popped too the toliet and noticed the seating upstairs and as we don't smoke and we was chilly this suited us. So we moved to a space upstairs. I informed the lovely young lady and didn't seem a problem. The man serving on the first floor came and brought a menu, I said we'd already ordered, he was very abrupt and said "where?" I then said I'd spoken to the lady and she told him the situation he then rolled his eyes and said "oh, right" whilst letting out a sigh. We thought this was very rude. People go out for food and drinks to have a nice relaxed atmosphere but this guy was very stressful and everyone knew it! He was huffing and mubbling to himself and he was the reason we left otherwise we would of stayed for another drink. The other staff were so lovely and I love the the pub plenty of choices and clean. I would go again just maybe sit downstairs.

When we got second round we pointed this out and servers said the glasses must have been warm. If that was true they should have realised that on serving us and corrected it! However we asked if the wine bottles were properly chilled but they clearly were not. Our second round was no improvement. Basic customer service failure on white wine and disappointing.

Can not give a good review because I was not allowed in, perfectly sober, well dressed but the bouncer thought I was straight so therefore gave me some rubbish about single entry not allowed. Discrimination laws work both ways and I will be taking it further. Just for your information I am a gay guy who just happens to be straight acting. With the smoking ban coming these pubs will loose 12% of trade but this obviously does not bother them.
