What a great place with a lovely ambiance. Catherine our server was very helpful even though the restaurant was very busy she still had time to go through the menu with us. The steak and ale pie was recommended to us as there most popular dish and it was delicious. I highly recommend this place for the atmosphere the service and the food

Poor service, wouldn't return. Waited 45 mins for drinks with our meal, when chased was told by the server "she doesn't do drinks" the bar will bring them and they are busy & short staffed. On leaving and getting a refund for the drinks seeing 3 staff behind the bar serving 3 people so not busy. Just poor organisation skills. Food was basic and straight from Iceland frozen fair despite what they would tell you.

Pie full of chewy fatty bits 50% of meat unedable. Was offered 20% off and staff excuse was its the meat they are given. Looked blank tbh. Appalling will not return and we came often before. The past 2 time standards were slipping. Its a shame. Its run by kids woth no respect and standards in kitchen going down too. We witnessed other food going back as stale as been standing on the counter too long. Overcooked fried food too. Sort it out. Baked Camembert was lovely but you can't really mess up melting cheese. Sticky toffiee pudding fantastic. Had to wait 15 mins for drinks at Start with no apology. Bar staff chatting on phones level 1.

Very picturesque typical British pub that we visited in the center of Manchester. Enough space between the tables inside and on the terrace but you need to book in advance as it is very popular among locals and visitors. Very good food, we tried fish and chips and a burger. They gave us the table next to the window and we have to say that the millet they can give you when you have a view. They are quite fast and British standard price

Great food, Choice ok, lovely pies. Facilities good but only one make toilet cubicle in the gents. All good until the bill came with a 10% service charge. Apparently this was mentioned on the menu but we didn’t see it. I found this excessive - partic in these times. The food and drinks were expensive for what we got and we are not the kind of people to raise an issue - we just won’t go again. We always tip if the service has been good, but we want to be the ones to make that decision. I wander if the staff see it.

The Old Wellington is a truly rustic pub and one of the oldest in Manchester. It is a real experience and pleasure to sit outside during sunny days or in an interior space that exudes antiquity. As for drinks, I tried beer and coffee, which were great. Of the food, only the cake, which was excellent. Definitely a recommendation to visit and experience a real Old Town Pub!!!

A visit to one of the oldest pubs in Manchester turned out to be a hit. A very well-chilled lager drunk in the attic of a building where history intertwines with modernity. Historic wooden beams under which you can bow your head to get to your table and a large TV screen on the walk just above us. Definitely recommend The Old Wellington.

Sat 7th Sept 2024. Called into this nice pub for drinks and something to eat. Food was good (the pies were very nice) but drinks were not. We had large glasses of white wine and they were warm. When we got second round we pointed this out and servers said the glasses must have been warm. If that was true they should have realised that on serving us and corrected it! However we asked if the wine bottles were properly chilled but they clearly were not. Our second round was no improvement. Basic customer service failure on white wine and disappointing.

We stayed 3 days ago. We only ordered a drink with a snack at the outdoor tables in a very beautiful typical setting, also close to the cathedral. We had a misadventure ordering via the app directly from the table, for this reason I had given a negative review which I am now correcting because they were very proactive in trying to resolve the payment problem, contacting me immediately and thus proving to be particularly attentive to customer satisfaction. It's not a given.

In Manchester on business and the Rain Bar is close to the hotel. From start to finish it was a really great experience. The food was lovely and portions very generous but what sold it was the staff working there and the service they provided. Very friendly and attentive as well as making some good recommendations on the beers available. Pretty quiet on a Wednesday evening but just right for the solo traveller.

Can not give a good review because I was not allowed in, perfectly sober, well dressed but the bouncer thought I was straight so therefore gave me some rubbish about single entry not allowed. Discrimination laws work both ways and I will be taking it further. Just for your information I am a gay guy who just happens to be straight acting. With the smoking ban coming these pubs will loose 12% of trade but this obviously does not bother them.

After getting off the train in Manchester before meeting other friends before a flight to Riga we called into this nice old traditional pub for a drink and a bite to eat in the centre of the city. I had the chicken and bacon club sandwich on baguette with chips at £9.50 with an alcoholic drink which was plentiful and delicious on this lunchtime special.
