The best restaurants serving British food in Eden North West

The pub was very good for just having drinks and also for a very good evening meal. Good food, drinks and service. We would certainly recommend it for a visit.

The black Swan..you couldn't ask for more , clean, quiet and tasty , I really want to thank Jack and Steve for a really pleasant getaway for me and my wife , felt relaxed after 2 minutes in this pub , beers good, but the food served at dinner was fantastic, way better than any pub grub, fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked , a joy to eat it and there is plenty of it , jacky worked tirelessly to keep every one happy and Steve in the kitchen does wonders ,thanks to the other staff too, will be coming back ..oh and sorry I forgot to hand in the keys .. post them back tomorrow

Pity the web site said open, yet closed when we arrived! Thought Easter Sunday afternoon was a good time to open??? ............

Having been informed that this hotel is to close permanently we booked in for a night with Dinner- 7 course taster menu with wine and Bed and Breakfast. The service was excellent and the food sublime. The chef excelled with his choice of dishes.

After completing Ben Nevis, one of our fellow friends became unwell and was unable to to continue to the other mountains to complete the ’Three peaks’ under 24hrs. We see this amazing castle on route back and checked in later that evening. The grounds & facilities are stunning. They where very accommodating with their restaurant menu. We were served with outstanding food and the personal touch especially with the Chef ‘Chris’ who actually came out and presented what we were eating which I thought was a really great touch! He then personally gave us his time to even show us around some of the castle which was a great way to fishing off our night. Our first visit even thou a short stay, I would highly recommend to stay and eat here. Thank you.

This place is a treasure! Needed a break on our hike and Lowrher Barn Cafe appeared! Tea, coffee and cakes were the perfect reward for all our hard work. Lovely owner (and son!). We had a great visit!

We booked in for a two night stay and on arrival enjoyed a very friendly greeting and an excellent evening meal. the room was very pleasant, Immaculately clean and presented, with everything you may need. Breakfast was very good indeed and served with a smile. The owner and all the staff did everything they could to make us happy and comfortable, again always with a smile. A really happy place. Suffice to say it will be first choice when we are back in the area.

We had an excellent afternoon tea for two at Augill Castle. There was a very warm welcome and service. The tea was a very tasty selection of savoury and sweet items, including freshly made scones - and a very nice pot of tea. It was a real treat.

I stayed Sunday night and had the roast which was great value and really delicious.

Me and my fiancé decided last minute to find a nice little room to stay over and as soon as we pulled up we realised we visited here for a meal the same time last year ! We were so happy because our previous visit was very good and the staff was lovely to us , so we knew we were in for a nice stay, the staff are all so lovely and welcoming , we was showed into our room which was nice and clean ! The new bathrooms where lovely too, I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone who is in the area! The breakfast was lovely too! 😊

We had a lovely meal and enjoyed the place that much went back the next day. Good food nice people well worth giving it a try.

The cooked breakfast was excellent with good quality products and all cooked to perfection, especially the bacon! Good coffee too!

Visited on a Sunday, really nice Sunday lunch menu. Delicious scotch egg starter. Kids fish and chips and ice cream was good value. Sunday roast was presented very well but unfortunately two of them were cold, must have been waiting a while to come out of the kitchen. Braised cabbage was actually raw, slightly dipped in boiling water but not braised at all.

A fantastic meal in a lovely setting - someone here can clearly cook - great value and excellent food and local beer - will be back

Tuve el plato más patético que he comido en mucho tiempo; Este era un huevo de gallina con espárragos. Básicamente, un huevo duro ligeramente cubierto de masa sin condimento alguno. Las 3 lanzas de espárragos estaban frías, igual que el plato. Para la comida principal tuve una lubina frita con lo que parecía un puerro pequeño de algún tipo. Los puerros se sonrojaron ligeramente en agua caliente, por lo tanto, eran duros, pero para colmo, no se lavaron y tuvieron que soportar la molienda más terrible del suelo. Cuando planteé esto con el personal, no hubo disculpas aparte de 'le haré saber al chef'. Antes de esto, tuvimos que esperar lo que parecían años para que alguien recibiera nuestras bebidas. En cualquier lugar donde el personal vino a tomar nuestros pedidos de comida, teníamos que preguntar si podíamos tener pedidos de bebidas primero. Esto fue seguido por otra larga espera. Los cubiertos también estaban sucios y también había una falta de ambiente. Notamos que en línea dice que este restaurante tiene 2 estrellas AA Rossette, pero en el restaurante hay un plato en la pared que muestra que ha sido galardonado con 1 AA Rossette. Le pediría cortés y asertivamente que se revisen los criterios de adjudicación (Rossette) o tal vez ya no sea adecuado para su propósito porque este lugar es una broma, por decir lo menos.
