Visited here quite a few times. The food is usually very tasty, well presented and the staff friendly. We must have caught them on an off day today though 🫤 We arrived at 2.50 and found a table. Noticing immediately that hot food was only available until 3.00 my husband went straight to the counter to order, rhyming off the two panini’s, a toasted sandwich and a jacket potato. He was informed there were no more jacket potatoes so I quickly changed my order to a toasted sandwich. By this time it was 2.52 and the lady at the till was not happy. She commented abruptly to my husband that hot food had to be ordered by 3.00, when my husband commented that it was not three yet she glared at him before hollering to the kitchen ‘ Don’t put owt away there’s more food orders’. The food that arrived was slapped together at best, zero point for presentation and my husbands cheese and onion toastie had barely any onion and the cheese had not melted. My parents in law panini’s were okay with proper chunky ham but were beige looking and hardly toasted,my Brie and cranberry toastie was tasty. This same disgruntled member of staff was clearly not happy in her job as she banged and crashed as she cleared tables and muttered and signed under her breath. To be fair, most of the rest of the staff were cheerful and polite but we are our food and made a hasty exit. I don’t think we will be back and if anyone else is going for hot food DO NOT leave it too late or you too stand the risk of public shame, humiliation and sloppy food. P.S The garden centre and gift shops are very good with very helpful and friendly staff.

Cafe/Tea Room. We have been a few times, so quite suprised I’m writing a negative review. It’s always quite busy, they come to take your order, but not today, we had to go to counter. But my complaint is watching whoever she was cleaning the tables, Piled everything onto another table that needed cleared, good thinking, Cleaned the table at a speed if busy must drive her employees nuts, then proceeded to put all the dirty plates cups etc off next table, back onto the table she had just cleaned and wiped down, she cleaned that table , pick up and removed dirty crockery etc and walked off leaving table empty but certainly not cleaned. Maybe needs a helping hand of basic hygiene. Our tea was lukewarm, cake ok. But standard certainly not as it used to be

Lovely little find, delicious coffee and tea and very tasty fruit scones. Staff pleasant. Could do with better signs up (we couldn't see any) to explain which section of cafe allows dogs - we were all settled in then were told to move because we weren't in the right section.

We popped into this garden centre as a break for a drink on route to out holiday. Although it's slightly off 'the beaten track' it's definitely worth finding. The cafe was in the old school room (complete with a desk I remember from my Infants School) and was relatively full, which is always a good indicator. We had coffee and an excellent Cheese Scone. We then had a look around the rest of the Garden Centre which is located around a courtyard area where we found a birthday card- completely inplanned. Definitely recommended

The staff were friendly and helpful, cafe is pleasant and clean. Unfortunately the food on offer is extremely poor for vegetarians. We had gone for lunch but we just got a scone each. The scones and coffee were lovely. The cakes looked good, but it was uncomfortably hot in the cafe so we left.

We chose this as a venue to meet a friend on the way back from our holiday as its close to the motorway. Nice looking little cafe and friendly service except for one person. I asked if there were any vegan options and her reply was ‘lettuce’ and then was begrudgingly told I could have a jacket potato with salad. In the end I had a potato with beans no butter - the only thing on the menu - but it came with a big dollop of coleslaw which I had to scrape off the plate. I’d like to think this wasn’t intentional - mmm! The young woman on the till was very sweet and the woman who brought out our food was lovely. Just the one very rude member of staff who let them down. I won’t return.

The reserved tables all had either a piece of fruit or a vegetable instead of numbers - I liked that it was quirky. We had booked the Roast and it was checked if we wanted the full or half roast apart from that we had no infirmation. We sat down overlooking a greenhouse, it was very pleasant. The meal when it arrived was enormous, very tasty and piping hot. The only thing that wasnt to our taste were the roast potatoes, we have had better. Overall very good and real value for money. We will be passing on the recommendations.

We have visited this cafe a couple of times, had the Sausage panini's on our first trip, they were very nice. On our latest visit just had time for cakes with hot drinks, again evrything was nice. The layout of the premises at the kitchen end seems a bit odd with the waitresses carrying food out and plates back into the kitchen through the queue waiting to order at the counter - this may be unavoidable due to the shape of the building. Still think it's a canny spot and will return.

A great little garden centre, restaurant and furniture showroom situated a few miles from the lovely market town of Penrith. Friendly and knowledgeable staff help you decide on the right purchase. Large car park and dog friendly business which allows you to walk your dog on a leader around their garden centre. My visit was on a Sunday , unfortunately as the restaurant was so busy with Sunday lunches I was unable to sample the delicious food on offer. Top tip - Book in advance for Sunday lunch or visit mid week when it's reported not to be less busy. The good news is they are building a new tea room which will allow visitors who do not want a Sunday Lunch to have tea and cake. This is clearly a garden centre well worth visiting along with the charming market town of Penrith with its wonderful shops. Top tip - Make time to visit the Cumbrian Food Hall on Ullswater Road and only a few miles from the Pot Place. All in all, a great way to see and sample the delights of Cumbria.

We went to visit the furniture show room and decided to get a drink then after going inside and seeing the food on offer we decided to have a light lunch. We had a coronation chicken sandwich which came with a small salad and crisps, the other 2 had a cheese scone with soup with was very filling the scones were very light and obviously been freshly cooked. The Sunday lunch looked good and the way out passed us. I would think that to guarantee a table for lunch you perhaps should book a table.

Un meganegozio che vende cose per il giardino apre una tea room dove sembrano farti un favore ed un gift shop con cose dozzinali. Non lo consiglio anche perchè è pure caro.

I can honestly say this is a little gem of a place. When I visited it was busy and I can understand why. The homemade soup was delicious and the panini was just as nice. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much for them. Will certainly visit again when back up in the area.

Myself and my mum went as a treat and it was lovely! We booked for afternoon tea, it was the nicest afternoon tea we have had. We have visited other places (hotels etc.) that do afternoon tea before and none can compare to this! It was so lovely. A lovely, relaxed vibe too. Would definitely recommend to everyone. For the price, it is a definite must. Loads for your money! Cannot wait to return and have Sunday lunch too as heard good things about this too.

Eaten here on quite a few occasions over the past year and a half when visiting the Cumbrian Oak furniture shop opposite. The ladies who run the place are always pleasant and efficient. The food is good quality and well presented with generous portions. The cakes are very very good!

More and more garden centres have just become impersonal shopping centres charging ridiculous prices. It's so nice to come across small centres where the owner puts personal care into everything. I doubt there is a better range of pots anywhere from small to huge in all shapes and colours and at reasonable prices. A great little coffee shop with lots of genuine home made cakes an goodies. BUT, the cherry on the cake is the Santa's Grotto. I took my 4 year old grandson at the weekend, it was magical. He was met by an Elf, escorted through the Christmas tree forest which was beautifully lit, up to the Grotto where another Elf took him inside to meet Santa who gave him at least 5 minutes of personal time. He came away with a goodie bag full of sweets and other nice bits and pieces all for £3. Well done the Pot Shop

Passed here a few times when travelling down the M6. Decided to travel down especially to see what we were missing. Nothing special very similar to other places we have visited like this. Not a lot of choice and expensive. Decided as it was nearly lunchtime we would go into the tea room for a little snack. Seemed to be a nice choice of food and home bakes we decided on a wrap unfortunately overpriced for the actual contents, a couple of pieces of chicken nuggets and some lettuce with a squirt of chilli sauce that was all in the bottom of wrap hence it was extremely hot.

The Pot Place is not as easy to get to as other local bigger Garden Centers, and the name didn't indicate plants. However, believe me, there is a good range of plants aswell as pots. The price range seems the same as most ranging from " cor, that's cheap !" to " What !!".Well worth a visit for ideas, purchases and advice from knowledgable staff .

'Tried' to have a family lunch here, Sunday 17 July at 12.35. Sat down at the only table in the place that didn't have a reserved card on it. Looked at the menu and caught the attention of a waitress as we weren't sure whether to order at the counter or if they took the orders at the table. She look at us and said that table is reserved at 1pm. We informed her that there had been nothing on it to say so, she turned round and leaned over to another table where there were two reserved cards and put one of them on ours, we looked at her in disbelief, she repeated again yes it's reserved at 1pm at which point all 5 of us got up and said we'd eat elsewhere, approx £30-40 lost, very unimpressed, we won't be back!

We were returning home to lancashire from a holiday in Fife, Scotland on Wednesday and we noticed from the M6 a sign on a building advertising the Pot place cafe so we took the next exit and followed the signs for the cafe. It is a lovely former station masters house converted into a cafe serving lovely home made food, also seating outside and also in a summerhouse surrounded by plants, greenhouses and lovely shop. My husband is keen on trains and enjoyed his lunch whilst the mainline trains passed. We ordered soup and cheese scones which were lovely. An ideal place to pop in, it will be a regular stop for us in future.

Stayed here for one night as a last minute break, this was one of only a few places left available in the lakes area at the time,at 1st i thought it was gonna be too far out of the way for anything but im so pleased we stayed there. The place is in a lovely little village and the pub itslef is very cozy with a log burner and a real retro bar full of character, the staff work very hard and nothing was any trouble esp the scotch guy,he never stopped. I wouldnt hesitate to book again,we had a great night and returned home feeling recharged and refreshed.

We recently stayed on a two night Travelzoo deal. The hotel is finished to a lovely stylish clean standard. The pub food was lovely, fresh and tasty. We did find it a little steeper price wise to what we are familiar with. The room was nicely finished and comfortable. The light did pour through the window when cars drove past at night and also under the door from the hallway which kept me awake. The radiator in the room was technical and it wouldn’t come on so we were happy to have an electric heater too. Breakfast was continental, it was nice but we felt it was missing some meat and maybe more exciting cheeses. The coffee was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful but out of the three we dealt with we felt one of them wasn’t so professional and sincere. Shouting things to the kitchen before the door was closed and generally a bit rude. The check in /out times were a touch late/early. Otherwise well done Dukes head and travelzoo too.
