After a walk from Kirkby Stephen, we stopped by on a Monday evening expecting it to be quiet and for the pub to easily be able to fit us in. We could not have been more wrong, it was very busy with booked tables and a great atmosphere. However, we didn’t need to worry the staff were so friendly and accommodating finding us a table. The service was quick and the food was fabulous. The portions were huge! We will visit again and will be recommending to our guests.

An unexpected find, tucked away in the village. Excellent value food & drink. Quirky interior with posh toilets & friendly owner. Will be back.

We spent the night on the way from Suffolk to Cairnryan. Looked good on Booking.com. Found staff very friendly and helpful and dinner and breakfast were good but room was small and dark and M6 provided constant background noise. Also fairlybm chilly as heating wasn’t on and hot towel rail in bathroom was cold.

Stayed here on the night of the 3rd October! Had dinner and breakfast the following morning. We both had the steak, tasted amazing. Breakfast the following morning was also a success. Our dog joined us in the mezzanine area, which was great. Hotel is very popular, would recommend booking for dinner and breakfast as also very popular. Look forward to eating again at this restaurant. Also had drinks in the bar, lovely area with a roaring fire.

We regularly visit the Fox and have yet to have a bad meal there. Yesterday I had the roast turkey which was absolutely amazing, juicy and melted in my mouth. We had 3 roast beef which were all lovely and a child’s sausage which was a really good sized portion. As it was Easter Sunday some of the usual menu wasn’t available as they were doing a roast or afternoon tea. My daughter who is autistic, had set her mind on the chicken burger she had last time and they went out of their way to make her one! The pub is always very busy and my daughter can become overwhelmed but we have now found a table which works for us as a family and the staff will always go out of their way to accommodate us. The puddings are always absolutely homemade and amazing, that’s if you can fit one in!. I would definitely recommend the fox to anyone, you will not be disappointed! Thanks Katy and team.

Called in to get a dessert as we were visiting a friend for lunch and wanted something special. Bought some pieces of cake, which looked nice. Unfortunately, they tasted a bit stale and rather heavy. The buttercream icing was a solid slab. Not at all what we'd been hoping for. We also bought (and were charged for) a sourdough, which turned out to be a standard white loaf when we cut into at home. We won't be back.

I was extremely shocked when I asked for a pot of hot water with my tea to be told I would have to pay £1 for extra hot water (I don’t have milk as drink my tea black). I have been to lots of cafes and never been charged for extra hot water .. in fact in the majority of cafes you are given a pot without asking. The waitress was so apologetic and admitted she was embarrassed having to tell customers. I feel it is totally unnecessary and next time I visit Pooley Bridge I’ll take my custom elsewhere.

Fellbites is situated right in the centre of Glenridding so is easy to get to. The menu is good and on our visit they had a number of specials too. My wife ordered Spicy lentil soup and I ordered beef burger with jalapeños and chips, both meals came out quickly, were piping hot and tasted delicious. We would recommend this place.

Went to the Queen’s Head by chance as Pooley Bridge was packed full of visitors on bank holiday Sunday. Fortunately a table was available, my husband and I both had the Sunday 2 course offering, it was so impressive, good quality with huge portions. The staff were also very pleasant including a new member of staff who was clearly being trained. We would highly recommend.
