Called in to get a dessert as we were visiting a friend for lunch and wanted something special. Bought some pieces of cake, which looked nice. Unfortunately, they tasted a bit stale and rather heavy. The buttercream icing was a solid slab. Not at all what we'd been hoping for. We also bought (and were charged for) a sourdough, which turned out to be a standard white loaf when we cut into at home. We won't be back.

What a shop! If you're a foodie you could spend a fortune in here. Superb deli of cheeses, olives, cured meats etc. Pies to suit almost everyone. Filled rolls and rolls made to order.. they are excellent! A host of amazing looking bread and rolls etc. Superb homemade scones..the best I've ever tasted:) Could say more..but if you're in the area it's a MUST visit shop! Oh....nice friendly people who work there..:)

Called here and enquired of the 'doorman' of the stock of a product, was tersely corrected re the manufacturers but advised that yes they were stocked. Was allowed in after having to re-sanitise hands again to tick his box despite having just done so and told 'there is a one way system to the left' however did not point me in the direction of the product i wanted. I approached the till , paid and the item was 'pushed' towards me despite it being obvious i had no bag, which i then requested. i am yet to receive a smile from any member of staff and to be quite honest found the whole experience very unpleasant and will certainly not return. Perhaps if they are so disgruntled to have customers in again they should have remained closed.

Came to the shop as I do everyyear to take back gifts for family. I had my mask on but was told I needed to use the anti bac gel at entrance, I told the lady at counter I can't use it due to my skin condition. She turned away from me and said something derogatory. We immediately left the shop and won't be returning. I seen local people entering shortly after and they weren't subjected to same protocols.

Although this was our first visit to Penrith, the J&J Graham shop almost felt familiar. This is no doubt because, over the years, I have ordered Christmas hampers from them on numerous occasions for family gifts. The quality has always been top class, so it was no surprise to see the shop and experience the full range of foodstuffs that they have on offer. New to me were the fresh bakery goods, and the scones, artisan breads etc were all absolutely top class. The only problem being what to choose! This is a Penrith institution and a “must visit” as far as I am concerned.

Came upon this deli shop by chance after stopping in Penrith for lunch. Good variety of produce - both regional and british. They do carry out sandwiches and bakery which I didn't buy as had already had lunch before I found this shop but will know for next visit.

Stopped off in Penrith for lunch and called into J J Graham after visiting previously. Great choice from the artisan bakery of sandwiches, sausage rolls and pasties. Decided to try a large meat and vegetable pasty from the pie warmer and it was delicious. Plenty of nice meat and vegetables in a light pastry. The store has a large selection of food and drink products for sale, including local Cumbrian producers.

Can't stop myself, every time I come to Penrith this is a must see place. The facade is so unique and architecturally probably one of the most stunning shops I have seen. Then you step inside and your senses are awakened to delicious smells of cheeses, herbs and meats.

Lovely Deli in the centre. Very busy! Friendly staff and lots on offer. I had a freshly made chicken and bacon roll with a rasperberry and white chocolate muffin was ok, a bit heavy but the roll was delicious! The roll was £2.50 and muffin £1.20

Want to step back in time to when shops provided a wide range of goods and you got excellent personal service? It reminds me of places I knew elsewhere 60 years ago. Excellent range of chees and fresh baked bread along with a good range of other foods all served by helpful and pleasant staff. This is must go to shop when in Penrith

Anyone visiting Penrith with a few minutes to spare should try a walk round this wonderful olde world (non-supermarket) shop. Cheese counter to die for, fresh real bread and plenty, plenty more. All served by knowledgeable pleasant people who care about what they do.

There was a time when every high street in most towns had shops like this magnificent store in Penrith. Sadly few such shops remain primarily due to the dominance of the supermarkets. Just looking in through the window is a treat in itself and seeing the fresh bread, cheese, wonderful looking scones and jars of top quality jams etc etc. It is impossible not to go in...and immediately your senses are assailed with rich aromas of a variety of goods on offer.

So many choices of quality goods and gives you "food for thought" (sorry about that) for gifts too. A type of shop very rarely seen in this day and age. Would be able to find something to suit most palates.

We have visited Grahams for over twenty years, and I am finally writing a review! It is a culinary delight with a great many wonderful local foods. The only problem concerns getting out less than half a stone heavier. Their pies and cakes are particularly excellent!

We were in Penrith for one night prior to a Lake District tour and when we went walking around we ran across this store. When we walked in that morning the smell of fresh baked bread and pastries was delightful! We purchased a chocolate eclair and a sourdough roll. Both were fresh and fabulous. I wish I could bring this store to my hometown!

Always make sure this shop gets a visit from us when in Penrith. It is right in the heart of the town, in the square. The shop stocks hundreds of items including loads of varieties of chutneys, jams, cheeses and cooked meats to even bottles of gin. Together with various pies pastries quiches bread, to name just a few. You can also get sandwiches made to order. Well worth a visit especially if you want unusual foods.

Popped in hear to see if there were any local cheeses to try. I must say that they had an excellent range and the prices were very very reasonable. I tried several of them and there was no problem with just buying 100gm of each. You really must pop in here if you are in Penrith.

Stayed here for one night as a last minute break, this was one of only a few places left available in the lakes area at the time,at 1st i thought it was gonna be too far out of the way for anything but im so pleased we stayed there. The place is in a lovely little village and the pub itslef is very cozy with a log burner and a real retro bar full of character, the staff work very hard and nothing was any trouble esp the scotch guy,he never stopped. I wouldnt hesitate to book again,we had a great night and returned home feeling recharged and refreshed.

We recently stayed on a two night Travelzoo deal. The hotel is finished to a lovely stylish clean standard. The pub food was lovely, fresh and tasty. We did find it a little steeper price wise to what we are familiar with. The room was nicely finished and comfortable. The light did pour through the window when cars drove past at night and also under the door from the hallway which kept me awake. The radiator in the room was technical and it wouldn’t come on so we were happy to have an electric heater too. Breakfast was continental, it was nice but we felt it was missing some meat and maybe more exciting cheeses. The coffee was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful but out of the three we dealt with we felt one of them wasn’t so professional and sincere. Shouting things to the kitchen before the door was closed and generally a bit rude. The check in /out times were a touch late/early. Otherwise well done Dukes head and travelzoo too.
