From the moment we arrived we knew we were in for something special. The hotel itself is set in stunning grounds and the interior (we visited Goldies Lounge & The Vines Restaurant) is nothing short of luxurious, with its opulent décor, soft lighting, and attention to every detail. The atmosphere is refined yet inviting, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience. The service is impeccable. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, knowledgeable about the menu and truly passionate about ensuring that every part of the meal was perfect. Every staff member we encountered made us feel like honored guests and their professionalism truly set the tone for the evening. We opted for the taster menu with wine pairings. Every dish was beautifully presented, bursting with vibrant flavors that were both innovative and comforting. From the delicate amuse-bouches to the decadent desserts, each course was a perfect balance of texture, flavour and creativity. The wine pairings were equally spectacular, with each pour complementing the courses perfectly. The sommelier’s expertise was evident, guiding us through the selections with detailed descriptions and insight into the origins and notes of each wine. Each sip seemed to enhance the flavors of the dishes, making the experience all the more enjoyable. However, what truly set this experience apart was the service that went above and beyond. After our meal, we found ourselves in a bit of a predicament when our taxi failed to arrive. Without hesitation, a staff member offered to drive us home, ensuring we had a safe and comfortable journey back. This kind gesture left a lasting impression on us. It wasn’t just about the meal; it was about making sure we felt cared for in every way. This restaurant offers not just an evening out, but a genuine escape into a world of luxury, fine dining, and exceptional service. I cannot recommend it highly enough and will undoubtedly return to experience more of the unforgettable magic they create.

Driving towards the Birkenhead ferry. Check on here and the most likely option was here. Arriving early I sat in the bar. Selecting my menu the food was very tasty and fresh have to suspect the chips were frozen. Car parking is expensive just behind the hotel. minimum £7 for a few hours.

Since coming under new management a couple of years ago, The Faulkner has gone from strength to strength. What used to be an average pub with okay food is now a fantastic gastro pub serving top notch food amid a great atmosphere. The staff were all lovely and we were well looked after, particularly by Rachael who was attentive and friendly. We'll definitely return to The Faulkner for more great food and wine!

As always, a great visit to what I think is one of the great pubs in the UK. Outstanding, beet, food service, and ambience and no music or kids. We have been going to The Albian Inn for 30 plus years and have never, ever had a bad meal. A REAL pub. Thanks, team! Ps go there when your hungry. They don't do small portions!

Wonderful eatery. Food was amazing. Three of us all had something different and each dish was a winner. Staff were really friendly and genuinely seemed happy we were there. Unfortunately I don’t live in the area but will definitely be back next time I am in Chester. So nice to see an independent cafe buzzing and doing well. Hats off to the staff/owners.

Lovely bar/restaurant, food was delicious. Unfortunately, let down a little by poor service. Order was taken. Hot starters arrived after about 10/15 mins- great. Sadly cold starters didn’t arrive for a further 10 mins and only after I had sought out a member of staff to ask where they were. 2 of the 3 cold starters arrived, but then another wait for the third cold starter. By now the hot starters had long since finished and were ready for their plates to be cleared. Plates eventually cleared, main course arrived over an hour after our initial order. Whilst we weren’t in a big rush, it did seem a long time. Main course meat was lovely. Had the share platter roast and couldn’t finish all the meat. Sadly lacking in vegetables. Small scoop carrot mash, red cabbage and a side bowl of soggy cabbage and green beans still swimming in their cooking water. Gravy and Yorkshire puddings lovely. Roast potatoes of which there were plenty, were like bullets. Put my fork in and it shot across the table! But oddly they were soft inside once you got through the tough outer shell. Tasted like they had been reheated more than once. We didn’t have pudding as we were full. Overall, not a bad meal. But at over £100 for 2 adults and 2 kids (about average these days). I felt the issues with the starters and the lack of vegetables with the main course really let the meal down. The manager did take one of the starters off the bill without me asking which was a nice gesture. Maybe next time send the cold starters first then no one is watching their food go cold.

The staff are welcoming, super friendly - the food was really nice. I was annoyed I didn’t have my phone on me to take photos but I had the rump steak (medium rare) and it was cooked to perfection. My mum had Lincolnshire sausages and mash which she said was lovely and really tasty. We both had dessert, I had the cheesecake and my mum had Baileys Crème Brûlée. Cheesecake was nice, my mum said the Crème Brûlée was really nice but too sweet but everyone has a different sweet tooth. I would highly recommend this restaurant, you won’t be disappointed (hopefully).

Had 3 rooms booked. Stains on the bedsheets and towels. One room had only dimmed light working. Night staff was very helpful whereas day staff needs customer services training (rude)

Located facing Addelshaw Tower is Old Dukes ,its a bar I've been quite a few times over the years, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit to here. I love the look of this bar, interior is superb, light and airy, lovely decor and furnishings, pub games and there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar both inside and outside, its just a really good bar to unwind in . We ordered Madri beers ,these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back and took in the great bar we were in while we sipped our beers. My beer was really good, a golden, light and hoppy lager style beer bursting with taste and very easy to drink especially when served freezing cold as in this bar, it was just so good being in such a lovely bar enjoying a quality brew and sat with my twin brother ,best beer companion in the world . We both really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to here we had a great time . Old Dukes is easy to locate along Bell Tower Walk. Opening hours are; Monday to Friday, open from 4pm. Saturday & Sunday, open from midday. Well worth checking out if you're in the area or planning a trip to Chester.
