Beautiful service. Wide variety of food options available. The sourdough goats cheese and caramelised onion toastie is a must have!!

As a Coeliac mum with a dog there are not many places that tick every box but this cafe is amazing! Lots of delicious gluten free options (I have tried multiple cakes always fab) baby changing facilities, and dog friendly.

Superb bacon on sourdough. Perfect way to start the day. Service was friendly and efficient. Thanks for a lovely breakfast.

I love going out for a daily coffee and this is one of my favourite places to visit. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, quick service and amazing food & drink at very reasonable prices. Highly recommend especially for vegetarian/vegan!

Overnighter to see Stipe at Alexanders and our hotel was a short distance from the town centre. A quick check on TA and found this gem. Sunday morning and it's a smallish place and pretty full but we found seats okay. Nice atmosphere and the breakfast was made with good quality ingredients. It also took a while to arrive and on this occasion, that was not such a bad thing.

Little Yellow Pig is the perfect spot and you will definitely make it one of your favourites after your first visit! I often come here for lunch or a coffee and cake date with friends. The staff are all so attentive, they make the effort to remember your usual order if you’re a reg, which I find really nice! The food is full of flavour, cooked just right and the presentation is 10/10. I don’t usually take pics of my food but I just have too when here. The vegetarian breakfast is a favourite of mine and also the bacon, avocado and hash brown butty on ciabatta bread. Wow. There is loads more to choose from, though, which all looks equally amazing. Also, side note, I have saw THE Ainsley Harriott here a few times. So, if LYP is good enough for Ains, it’s definitely good enough for me.

The breakfast was excellent - great bacon and sausage. All washed down with a really great coffee. Staff were brilliant and service was excellent.

The best eggs, bacon and avocado on toast I’ve ever had, absolutely delicious! My partner had the full English and his only complaint was that he could have eaten double the amount.

2 visits in January. Still smashing it as always. We have been coming here for years and always great service and great staff. Hot chocolate, coffee, baby chino spot on. Good cake Keep up the good work.

Visiting family and so wanted somewhere to meet for food and that also welcomed dogs... I think we walked past it at first thinking it was quite small and not enough room, but then went in anyways... The dogs were made to feel welcome and we sat at a lovely table - was a little shocked at the price of a breakfast but with things the way they are we accepted it... Breakfast was just what we needed, and worth every penny. Will definitely visit again.

Sourdough bread was absolutely gorgeous & hot chocolate was delicious. Atmosphere was nice, pretty decor. Only fault was didn’t get much salomon on sourdough, other than that it was brilliant.

We were shown to a table. Cafe was busy lovely atmosphere. Staff really friendly and helpful. We ordered the club classic on sourdough bread. It was delicious we both enjoyed. There was rocket on the side with a dressing too. We had cappuccinos which which were good.. We were naughty and had a slice of cake. I tried the vegan chocolate orange. I found it really yummy a real treat. We would definitely call in again when in hoole.

Little Yellow Pig is nice local cafe that does good food and decent coffee. It’s very pleasantly uncorporate with some quirky decor and rustic furniture. Staff are friendly. The only thing that lets it down is that every time I’ve been in there’s always been a wait on food and even on drinks at times. Granted it’s not a big place and staff do always forewarn of any delays. This last time we went though it was quite a long wait, and then part of the order had been missed, and that was tricky with a young kid in tow. I think this is why I don’t go in more often even though I like everything else about it.

After a discussion with friends about supporting small independent cafes and coffee shops we decided to pop into the Little Yellow Pig rather than popping into Costa. Well the two Flat Whites we ordered were dreadful. Hardly and coffee flavour at all, wasn't 100% certain is was not just warm milk. Wish we had gone to Costa. Which is a shame as some of the best coffee we have tasted had been in independent cafes.

Amazing breakfast, great coffee, eclectic interiors and super friendly staff…what more can you ask for…highly recommend also for tourists looking for a non hotel breakfast experience when staying in Chester

Have been going to this cafe for a few years now and it's very good. But they have priced themselves out now charging £3 for a small (usually tepid) Latte'. The seating arrangement has been changed a d customers have to endure hard wooden seats. It's not the same as it was and has now gone too expensive. There is a cafe around the corner just as good but much more reasonably priced. Shame really.

Admittedly I only come here a couple of times a month when I head into Hoole for a haircut. My hairdresser is always late opening his salon. Consequently, my ritual of landing here and enjoying a couple of coffees while sitting in the window where I can spot his fashionably late arrival was born. I'd now be disappointed if my hairdresser turned up on time and stole away the precious moments I enjoy in this venue. The oat milk flat white they serve is the best I've had. You know when your shoulders drop, and you hear yourself sighing - that happens after that first sip of coffee. The menu offers lots of delicious options, and you should see the myriad glass cloches of cakes and sweet treats. Despite how busy they are, their smiles never falter, and they're a thoroughly lovely bunch - and you can never have too much of that. When chatting to my friend the other day, we agreed that this little gem is the kind of place that would make you want to move to Hoole so that you could enjoy it every day. It's that good.

Fantastic coffee and lovely vegan cakes (although a little dry). Very friendly and attentive staff. Been in a few times and had their vegan food option few months back. Hopefully will be seeing more vegan hot options soon!

This was probably one of the best breakfasts we've both had! We ordered at the counter inside, and were bought out or drinks and cutlery! The food arrived quickly and it looked and tasted incredible! We both went for the smoked salmon, spinach and scrambled...

Ordered a sausage sandwich and it arrived covered in lettuce and very hard brown soughdough bread which you could not bite or chew. Only bread in the cafe no choice and plenty of breadshops in the street. Waste of money

Awesome place for brunch, coffee, cake or artisan bread - you name it. I live in Manchester these days, where the coffee & cafe culture is everywhere, but this place would 100% do really well if it was located out this way. Staff are lovely, vibe is brilliant. My husband and I dropped by for a quick bite to eat and a coffee this morning. We've always had a good experience when visiting The Little Yellow Pig, the food is lovely and well presented and the coffee is great. Even though it's a busy little cafe, the staff are always welcoming and friendly. Will be back soon!

This is a nice little spot for brunch / lunch or just a coffee in Hoole. Staff are always helpful and polite, service is quick and food is always brilliant. Do recommend the all day breakfast and if your on the go, you can always get a panini to take out!

Stopped here for breakfast on our way to Chester Zoo. We were staying the weekend in the area, up from Portsmouth. Great cafe, delicious veggie brekky, lovely chap running it who didn't seem at all small to me. Thank you Little Yellow Pig.

Somos clientes habituales aquí, siempre recibimos una cálida bienvenida al igual que todos, a veces se llena mucho, pero los propietarios siempre le dicen si hay una espera y aproximadamente cuánto tiempo. La comida siempre es fresca y sabrosa, por eso se llena. Puedes sentarte en los asientos de las ventanas y ver pasar el mundo o las áreas acogedoras más adentro. Vale la pena una visita si estás en la zona para probar por ti mismo.

Much better places nearby with a much better atmosphere. I visited today with my other half, we were welcome with a small man behind the counter flailing his arms like a wrapper unable to get his words out essentially ushering is out because people were already waiting for tables. I politely ignored his obvious stressed reaction to us coming in when it was busy in asking how long the wait would be. We began politely waiting in the hallways area only to be given frequently rude instructions on what to do. I left the feeling embarrassed on behalf on the small young man behind the counter who can only make coffee and the cafe for employing people with an attitude I can still smell. Much better places nearby with a much better atmosphere.

My daughter has just moved to Hoole and whilst I was over helping her move in we decided to call in at lunch time. Very friendly place and the panini were delicious.would love to try the breakfast sometime. Prices reasonable.

We visited for a brunch one weekday morning. It’s a quirky place but full of friendliness and obviously popular with regulars. Great food with plenty of options and lovely staff. We will certainly be back

I ordered a slice of cake from the lovely waitress and she cut me a lovely generous slice. As she carried it out to me, only a metre from my table the rude and arrogant male manager appeared and shouted loudly and angrily at her for serving such a big slice. He literally made her bring it back and re slice it. Can you imagine how embarrassed he made her feel? Can you imagine how upset I was for her? Also the disappointment of seeing a heart serving one thirded to a tiny slice. I continued to watch the Male manager while I sat in there and his behaviour wasn’t kind or inviting. He was constantly openly criticising the female member of staff. Not acceptable and he should be removed.

Great little cafe just outside Chester town centre. Been here a few times now and is our go to place before the races. Fresh delicious breakfasts, good coffee and tea....and a warm welcome. All you need.

Excellent staff in a nice cosy cafe. Lovely food and great coffee. The staff offered to add to my breakfast when I requested to not have a couple of items and they were all too happy to cater to my dietary needs with a smile. The food was very well seasoned and they use quality ingredients. I will be back very soon

Hoole is an unwelcoming place , parking is always difficult , and it tries manfully to be an upmarket suburb . This corner cafe has provided us with a regular and good quality snack on every visit . A nearby shop stocks my wife go brand of clothing so I am forced to "do a few laps" until I can park . On this occasion I got a space right outside the YP so it would have been rude not to have a bite to eat and buy a loaf . The special was a thick slice of toast spread with avocado topped with black pudding and a perfectly poached egg , a delicious mix , the bp was little dry but the generous coating of avocado in combined to compensate . Nice thing is for the next couple of days you also eat the bread . Good tip is to buy your bread when ordering your meal , there were several loaves available when we entered but all had gone by we left . Congrats to the staff courteous under pressure [all tables taken after we had become seated].

I love this cafe the service is good, food excellent and surroundings quirky and nice. One of my favourite places to eat. I have breakfast and lunch here and both were excellent. Tea cakes are homemade and gorgeous 😊👍

Arrived for lunch. Quite busy, but staff friendly. Coffee was lovely, but small. Food ordered sounded tasty, but were too bready and mine was salty. If in the area at lunchtime again, will try somewhere else. Price a little on the high side.

Un esfuerzo bastante mediocre en todos los sentidos. Un poco sucio también. Tenía una ensalada muy mediocre y un sándwich sin inspiración con dos refrescos. Todo el lugar olía un poco grasiento con un aroma abrumador de tocino / cerdo. El personal era agradable, pero estaba nervioso y, desafortunadamente, desinformado sobre lo que era un servicio de almuerzo tranquilo. ¿Y por qué no hay servicio de mesa?

Headed into Hoole for a mooch about and came across this little gem. Cosy, quirky and very friendly. Small but simple menu. The toastie tasted good! And the flat white was very good too

Delightful visit yesterday with a friend. First time but definitely won't be the last! Coffee was good - and actually a cappuccino for once! The cake I had was also to die for! Staff were lovely and didn't rush us when we sat all morning putting the world to rights, despite the busy period and still manage to accommodate for all other guests! The owners should be extremely proud of their establishment! A new favourite!

Second visit to The Little Yellow Pig during family visits to Chester - warm, friendly, dog and vegan friendly - a very personal place with lovely food and coffee - a really nice place to settle down for an hour and let the woes of the world pass you by.

Me encanta este pequeño café en la esquina, pero a nosotros (2 de nosotros) nos decepcionó el servicio extremadamente lento. Llegué antes que mi hija y pedí un piso blanco. Veinte minutos después, pregunté dónde estaba mi café, me informaron "sólo estos tres para hacer, luego el tuyo es el siguiente". ? ? No lamento el retraso. . . . Mi hija llegó, así que los dos pedimos huevos Benedict, 30 minutos después llegó, ¡no había cubiertos ni servilletas en la mesa, tenía que preguntar! La comida era deliciosa, y el café es fabuloso, pero esto es decepcionante por el servicio. ¡Es casi como un privilegio estar allí! He decidido no volver (por mucho que me guste el lugar, la comida y el café) Cambia tu actitud. . . .

Vengo a desayunar un sábado con mi nuera y mis nietos. Ambos tuvimos huevos Benedict delicioso y una buena taza de café recién hecho. Los más pequeños tenían chocolate caliente en tazas de té de China, un toque agradable. El pequeño cerdo amarillo es todo un hallazgo. Cosas bonitas por dentro para que los más pequeños hagan y miren a las figuras de Lego cerdos amarillos.

Happened to be in Hoole early morning and had 45mins to kill and came across this little yellow gem or is it pig. Friendly staff and even though only having a cuppa the pot gave 3 cups easily and not expensive. Will defo use again.

Just pop in for a birthday breakfast, it was fabulous food and service second to none. Will be visiting again soon.

We're not often in Hoole but this cafe fits into its surrounding so well. It is, as others have said, "quirky" which is delightfully so. An interesting selection of food and the staff are entirely delightful. I can recommend it.

It's a quirky little place - the décor is a mixture of rock memorabilia and "humorous" cartoons. Staff are lovely. I wouldn't say the food was mind blowing but nice enough (the cakes are excellent though) and better value then many of the rip off places in the centre of town. Coffee is good as long as you like very strong coffee!!! All in all pretty good.

This is a great little coffee shop just round the corner from my office, and I usually pop in a couple of times a week for a posh coffee to push me through the last hour of the day. The staff are really friendly, the decor is cool and relaxed and, if you're not taking away, you can sit in the window and watch the world go by. There are more and more identikit chains moving into the area: support your local independent coffee shop!

Went here for breakfast the day of the races and ordered 2 full English’s and 2 coffees ( one with soy milk). We were told food would take 25 minutes and we said no problem, we’ll pay and come back as we had chores to do.

Great staff. Cheerful and friendly. Good atmosphere. Great food too. Poached egg on toast comes with 2 slices of top quality bread in doorstops! Hot chocolate is delicious. Always a preferred cafe to meet friends. Independent cafe as it should be!

My partner and I visit the little yellow pig now and then as a treat for breakfast. The eggs benedict is my fave and my partner has the full English. The coffee is great (best in area) Staff are always lovely and the decor is cool and quirky. Another little gem of Hoole!

Lovely independent cafe offering great choice of breakfast. Stayed nearby & was looking for somewhere nice for brunch & found ‘Little Yellow Pig’. Arrived at opening time & was lucky to get table - but near door where takeaway visitors struggled to remember to close the door - needed a bit of a pull to catch. Very popular with locals & couldn’t believe how many people go out for breakfast these days - especially with small kids !! I had full breakfast - yum & husband had breakfast bap.

Ordered a full English and a ham and cheese panini which took over and hour to come even after asking the staff a couple of times where’s the food is. When it came the cheese wasn’t even melted on the panni but the breakfast was ok apart from the bacon which was like cardboard. Not impressed

This place is by far the best in Chester. I stumbled by this place about 6 months ago when I took my daughter for a walk around the canals. We decided to walk into Hoole and came across The Little Yellow Pig. Having a massive pram, a member of the team came to the door and offered to help me in. I just wanted a coffee to go so they took my order at the door which was nice.

I'm a big coffee fan... probably a bit of a coffee snob.. but Little Yellow Pig is hands down the best coffee I've had in Chester. Its a great place to chill too, the staff are friendly and its all reasonably well priced.

Popped in for brunch on a weekday. It was almost full, only a couple of free tables which is always a good sign. We had eggs benedict and a bacon and egg sandwich. We asked for the bacon well done which it was. Lovely coffee too. It's a cute quirky little place but it was a bit chilly when we visited. A few people didn't take their coats off to eat.

Went for English breakfast. The bacon and sausage had been pre cooked and were tough as old boots. All accompanied by a Slipknot album playing on their stereo.

For a treat I'll sometimes take the kids to the Yellow​ Spotty Pig after school. The omens are good having some of my teenage record collection on the wall. Where else could one see New Order's "Confusion" used decoratively?

The coffee's beautiful, the cake is beautiful and the fresh bread is top. I love all of the quirky, unique little toys and legos dotted around the place. It's pretty neat.

had a black coffee, the chap said it has 2 shots as standard, i normally have cream in my coffee as i think that compared to milk it lifts the flavor .

This is still the same quirky place that we like. We are always welcomed like friends and the food and service is alway very good. Prices are not silly either. It is always busy and the place buzz’s, we go every now and then for a late breakfast, always good and tasty.

Can honestly say this is my idea of a perfect coffee shop. Lovely service, good coffee and my slice, or should I say wodge, of homemade lemon drizzle cake was one of the best I've ever eaten. And this from a girl who knows her cakes!

Visited for lunch at the request of my 5 year old niece. Quirky decor and efficient staff with excellent quality freshly cooked food. Highly recommend the carrot cake (which is why my niece wanted to visit). Cafe has games, lego and magazines for customers to use.

The Little Yellow Pig offers a great selection of food; we called in for a quick snack and were very impressed both by the food and the friendly staff. I had a smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich and my wife has cheese and pickle. Both came on excellent and tasty fresh bread. More substantial meals are available. We will certainly call again when in Chester.

I'd heard a lot of LYP but living in the city centre with a bunch of decent indie coffee shops never felt the need to venture into Hoole,finally did,April this year,Flat White & Victoria sponge,cake was lovely and the taste of the coffee surprised me,naturally sweet,when you drink it you can tell coffee comes from a fruit,it reminded me of coffee I'd had in London,the single origins seem to me more popular down south,served at the correct temperature too,something the coffee shops in the city centre don't seem to get quite right. I've become a regular,in my opinion it's by far the best coffee in Chester,best I've had in the North of England tbh,after a few visits I discovered they use Dark Arts coffee,from Hackney,which then made sense as it tasted the same as the coffee I'd had at Bricklane Coffee. (also Dark Arts) they also do hot food,I've had the Eggs Benny which is lovely,for me a coffee shop can't just be about the coffee though,service and style are just as important,the service is excellent and the shop itself is both edgy and homely,well very random but in a good way. Hoole is a short walk from Chester train station,if you're coming by car there's a large free carpark 2 mins walk from LYP,just behind the shops on the opposite side,it attracts a good mixture of people from yoga mums to students to cyclists with a sprinkle of retirees I'm not a "coffee snob" by any means but the same way as when I go for a meal I care how my steak is cooked I care how my coffee is made and like to know where it's from,if I'm gonna go out for coffee I want the best and where some coffee shops I use to visit have deteriorated LYP is always consistent ☕️
