We booked the upstairs function room for a baby shower. We were allowed early access for decorating and the function area had its own clean toilets and bar area .Booking was easy, staff very friendly and helpful, buffet was plentiful and varied ,our “gluten free” guest received a stunning separate platter and “nut free” guest was looked after also .Whilst purchasing some drinks from restaurant I was impressed by the delicious looking meals being served!! Will definitely return for a meal and drinks at another date. Great setting , lovely view, perfect size function room for what we needed and food was delish! Well done Port and Anchor team see you again soon!

I went for Sunday lunch, for my son's birthday we had a Chicken Roast and beef roast, there was plenty to eat including roast and mashed potatoes honey glazed carrots and parsnips the biggest yorkshire pudding I've ever seen 😋 great service and very professional and friendly, you couldn't wish for more, would highly recommend this restaurant

Had another lovely breakfast down at the Port and Anchor today. Our new favourite spot! You literally cannot fault it, the food is delicious and the staff are very welcoming and can't do enough for you. The lovely waterfront setting is a nice added bonus too!

Disappointing breakfast. The staff were lovely, but I thought the restaurant smelled of oil from cooking, a greasy smell not a nice food smell. Our table looked a bit grubby too. I ordered eggs Benedict, both eggs were hard, bacon was over cooked too. The muffin was very lightly toasted and looked grey inside and the sauce looked and tasted as though it was from a carton. My friends English breakfast was cold but looked ok. We won’t be returning unfortunately which is a shame as we’ve been a handful of times previously and it was nice. Nice canal setting though.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a fantastic meal at The Port and Anchor! My partner, little one, and I all had the mixed roast dinner, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the portions were generous. For dessert, we treated ourselves to the warm chocolate fudge cake with pouring cream – 10/10! The cake was rich, indulgent, and the perfect end to a lovely meal. The atmosphere was cozy, and the service was friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back again! Highly recommend!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an absolutely fantastic experience at The Port and Anchor for our Sunday roast! From the moment we arrived, Andrew and Christopher made us feel right at home with their warm hospitality. They went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, making the entire dining experience exceptional. The food was simply incredible – the roast was cooked to perfection, with tender meats, crispy potatoes, and delicious vegetables. Every bite was bursting with flavor! We can't recommend this place enough for both the top-tier service and the amazing food. We'll definitely be back!

It might have been an off day or they might have been a new chef in charge but the chips on my meal were the worse ever they were grey

We have always been regulars for breakfast at the Port & Anchor. Knowing it was under new management we wanted to support. It was the most disappointing meal I have ever eaten. There were lots of staff who were absolutely clueless. We advised waitress we were ready to order food and drinks but she told us she could only take drinks order!!! Drinks arrived one by one and as placed down poured over the table. Clearly no training given of how to carry a tray! Eventually we were allowed to order food! Coffee and tea arrived 10 mins later served by a man in a cap and tracksuit ( not a very professional look) he handed me a spoon that I have just seen him wipe on his pants! The breakfast was disappointing, cheap sausages, no butter and then missing items. The place was incredibly busy, each table had an issue with their order or the service and yet they kept taking more bookings. Staff training here will be key to the success of this new business. Such a shame as a lovely location but new owners clearly haven’t run a restaurant before.

Having heard it was under new management. We went along for Sunday roast. We were not disappointed. Good hot freshly cooked meal with choice of meats. Also gluten free option. At a reasonable price. The ordinary menu also looked good with lots of gluten free options . The young serving staff were feeling their feet as only been opened a couple of days. They were friendly and accommodating. We will be returning to try a few more dishes. Good luck to the new owners and hopefully keep up the standard of the meal today.

Super clean, food very well presented and cooked to perfection, super yummy. Prices very very reasonable. I'd definitely recommend this place, the staff give you lots of attention in the right way with out being in your face. Nothing is too much for them. They make you feel very welcome, just a lovely, pleasant and place to go. I look forward to going again. Xx

Brilliant night at the fleetwood mac tribute act night. Brilliant food and brilliant service topped off with superb entertainment. Will definitely be returning.

Excellent place to eat. We tend to have family get-togethers here on Sunday lunchtime (usually between 12-16 people) and we have never had a problem. The orders are taken per couple or family, so there's never a problem with the bill (which we've experienced at other restaurants) and the service is friendly and quick. The food is lovely and the atmosphere is smashing, even better when a huge ship passes by. My 9 year old niece couldn't believe her eyes the last time we were there! We're all very much looking forward to visiting again soon.

A friend recommended the Sunday Roast my family and I went today and wasn’t disappointed good attentive service and the best Sunday roast I’ve had for ages and plenty of it, really good location by the water also, it won’t be long before we’re back 👍

Fabulous friendly place for Sunday lunch. Plenty of tasty food served with a smile and the option for more gravy. Too full to test any deserts but our pot of tea with lovely mugs was the best ! Alfie our cockerpoo was treated like royalty thank you for making us feel so welcone.

Went for lunch today with my daughter. The two ladies who served us were lovely and helpful. The food was delicious! I had the sweet chilli beef stir fry. It was totally Devine! My daughter had sea bass and they apologised there were no veg but did salad and my daughter said it was really nice. We overindulged with Eton mess sundae and brownie sundae !!! I booked a Table for my Mum's Birthday Celebrations (July 4th) but went on July 5th. Called up AM to confirm they had a Wine Menu has I had not seen one, the Gentleman assured me they had a good range esp a Wine my Mum particularly likes. We arrived & were seated...ordered drinks & then food order taken. Lovely atmosphere, the people serving were lovely & food came in great time...& was delicious!! I'm a Lasagne fiend & I ordered it here, homemade & very filling 10/10. Mum dad Scampi & again a good hearty portion & she loved it. We chatted for ages & the staff did not rush us...just as we finished our Wine a lovely large Ice Cream dessert was brought over (courtesy of John & the staff) to Celebrate my Mums Birthday...such a lovely thoughtful touch...she (we) were really quite surprised at the kind gesture...& it was delicious!!!! Such a fantastic Eatery staff are so kind & thoughtful & really made my Mums celebration that little more special for her. THANK YOU John & your staff for a fabulous food experience, we will be back!!

Really happy friendly staff, very attentive and chatty Portion size ok. Main meal very bland no flavor, pork very dry and peas really hard. I was happy that when I asked for some extra chutney the lady was happy to bring more out this made my starter more enjoyable My pudding came out cold but again they were happy tp heat it up making it tasty. Tribute act was good overall enjoyable evening just ashame food wasn't as good as hoped.

Not very welcoming at all, Gammon really undercooked fat was raw, hand cut chips definitely frozen crumbly bits, one egg not two for the price we paid we'd expected better don't waste your money.

We were looking forward to this place having read some reviews and looked at the menu. To have such a place on our doorstep, never been before. We came for lunch, they have a great selection of drinks, restaurant layout and atmosphere is lovely too. We ordered the proper fish finger butty and club sandwich with chips. Huge portions, I couldn’t finish the club, and the finish finger butty was two small battered fillets, very nice indeed. We were missing the mushy peas and side salad with the fish finger butty and the chips were extremely dark in colour and floppy/soft. Could be the oil maybe. That was the only let down for me. Expected them to be crunchy. I have to say though, for the price, location and the fact they host tribute events, we will be back to try again.

Wonderful service! We had booked for a large party to sit and order off the menu for our Nan's 90th birthday. The staff were very welcoming, efficient and the food was beautifully cooked. I don’t normally write reviews, but after visiting the Port & Anchor, I was that blown away, I just had to leave one. After a hectic shopping session at Cheshire Oaks with the wife, a friend recommended we try the Port & Anchor. As it was local (8 min drive), we were met by fantastic staff who were only too pleased to help. We were blown away by the food options including the specials board. The lambs liver and the salt and pepper seafood basket was to die for. To top it off was the bill which was very easy on the wallet. Thank you for a lovely meal and we will DEFINITELY be returning

Been here a few times for lunch, afternoon tea and evening meal but I've never left a review. We went for brunch in April. Mum had eggs royale, I had eggs Benedict. Food was delicious and really good value as included a hot drink. Restaurant was very clean. The staff were very friendly and Laura specifically asked if I wanted less salt in my toddlers meal and brought him child's cutlery which was really thoughtful. Always love the location especially on a sunny day.

I have been to the Port & Anchor many times since it opened for breakfasts, lunches and evening meals and have always received a warm and friendly welcome from all the staff. I have even booked here for a function where everyone who attended commented on what such a lovely venue it is. The food is always top notch and the tribute act nights are always spot on.

We often visit the Port & Anchor for breakfast with our family. We are always welcomed by all of the staff and they always make a fuss of our little girl which we think is so lovely. This makes us feel relaxed and at ease immediately. The food is always delicious and service is always excellent. Thank you for always being so lovely!

Grabbed breakfast with my Mum this morning, which we do on a fairly regular basis as a Saturday morning treat. The food is always of the highest quality, and Mum always comes out feeling that she’s been treated like royalty. A great place to eat at any time of year, but gets even better in the warm weather when you can take advantage of the outdoor seating and watch the ducks and swans, or see the ships passing by like graceful giants.

Appeared to turn us away from their empty establishment (at 6pm) as we were casually dressed and in a van. The Rodeo Drive scene in Pretty Woman comes to mind. Never judge a book by it’s slightly scruffy cover. No matter, a very worthy establishment received our custom/money.

Friday night was never so good until the Port and Anchor intrintroduced live tribute acts. I am yet to be disappointed. £25 for a 3 course meal and the entertainment. Staff are allways helpful and friendly and food is superb.

Nice afternoon tea with friends everything was fresh and plentiful only one criticism the sandwiches could have been cut smaller as they fell apart when you picked them up. They also have a singer on every Thursday afternoon which was very pleasant and added to the ambience will definitely return

A hidden gem. We went as a family of 3 & the food, atmosphere, location & staff were brilliant. Hot & hearty portions which were presented well. One of the female staff brought a Christmas colouring sheet over for our LG which I thought was nice. The Tutti Frutti gin was yummy too 👌 They have tribute nights too which we are very interested in Will definitely return. Lovely place.

Tiny Tim is a very, Very funny man/boy! Gave us a great show. We really enjoyed him. Their staff were Fab. Especially Gemma. She didn't have a second, absolutely run off her feet. It was their food that let them down. I had ONE single potatoe in my Stew! Not Good. You served very cold chilled cake under hot custard. Not Good. Not sure of your idea of Fruit Crumble but it didn't match with mine. Not Good!

Arrived for afternoon tea to celebrate my Granddaughters 10th birthday with 4 others but unfortunately, we were booked on the 18th December, oops I must have had a senior moment. So instead of turning us away, they made a space for us & made us very welcome. The kitchen had to arrange the afternoon teas which were delicious and good value. The girls changed their minds & had something hot from the menu but this didn't phase anyone. The staff member looking after us even found some balloons so we could take photos, such a thoughtful thing to do. All the staff were brilliant & made it a special afternoon for all of us, so thanks to all.

Was at Cheshire oaks for a bit of xmas shopping and staying nearby we decided to book a table for 6. After a 15 min walk from hotel I was treated to one of the best starters ever (Black Pudding stack). All the main courses were superb and very generous portions. For the couple of hours we were in there the atmosphere, food and staff were amazing. Will deffo be back when in the area. When leaving we were shown a quicker way back to hotel.... 3 min walk🤦.

A little disappointed in the afternoon tea. The sandwiches had no butter on the bread which were like doorstops, not dainty at all. The sausage rolls, quiche and cakes tasted shop bought, but the wraps were nice and the scones were really lovely. I presumed that refills of tea and coffee would be included in the price but were not. However when I said this to the person serving us she included it in the price. Next time I will choose something from the lunch menu which is always lovely.

Called in to book the upstairs room for my mums 90th. John was brilliant. He couldn't have been more accommodating. Haven't rated the food as didn't eat, only had a coffee, but I did see some very nice looking breakfasts coming out to a group at another table. Will go back soon to eat.
