Decided to not go go far last night after staying in hotel for weekend. Had lovely 3 course meal last night. Just couple criticisms, the plates were so slippy on tables - every time my husband cut into his steak the plate did a 90 degrees turn! Staff very attentive, just tad expensive I thought

Visited the restaurant as part of our hotel deal ..we had breakfast here and dinner in the evening ..was very well organised on both visits ..good to see staff that know what they are doing and doing it well ..breakfast was very tasty and well cooked with a good choice on the buffet ..tea and coffee was plentiful ..there was a massive queue on entering but dont be put off by this as it went down very quickly as people were seated .. evening meal was just as well organised and everything brought out quickly ..food we had was tasty and cooked well and service was excellent ..the restaurant itself was comfortable and was a very enjoyable experience .

Nos hemos alojado en el hotel Hallmark The Queen un par de veces y siempre hemos estado contentos con la comida y el servicio en el restaurante, sin embargo, esta vez nos alojamos en el hotel hermano al otro lado de la calle, el desayuno debía tomarse en The Kings Grill en La reina. El desayuno en sí era bueno, pero tratar de conseguir una taza de té o café era abominable. Nos sentamos rápidamente y le dijimos a alguien que tomaría té y café, que nos ayudaría con el desayuno buffet, que estaba bien abastecido. Vimos a mucha gente caminando con tazas pidiendo al personal té y café, la pareja de la mesa de al lado tenía el desayuno cocinado a medio comer y aún no se les había dado té ni café. Finalmente logramos tomar un camarero y conseguimos té / café para nosotros y la mesa vecina. No apareció una recarga, volvimos a preguntar: tres miembros diferentes del personal antes de que pudiéramos obtener más té y café. Un soplo muy frío (¡brisa!) Soplaba en el restaurante hacia las 9. 45 am, lo que hace que sea muy incómodo sentarse y beber el tan esperado té y café, un comentario que escuchamos fue: oh, han abierto las puertas exteriores para alentarnos a irnos. La mayor parte del personal había desaparecido hace mucho tiempo. No está bien. Lamentablemente, esto ha disminuido nuestro entusiasmo por volver a lo que anteriormente habían sido dos felices estancias. Sugeriría que regresen a la forma anterior de trabajar donde le preguntaron si quería té / café cuando estaba sentado. Hay que hacer algo, el gran desayuno británico tiene una reputación que mantener.

We've stayed at the Queen Chester hotel before and ate at the restaurant, was fantastic! So we chose to stay at this hotel again and booked a table online in advance. In short.. the restaurant was understaffed and we had to sit at the bar and wait to be seated for a while after a very luke warm welcome. We were then told that the menu we had seen on the website (and chosen the restaurant based on) wasn't available. The service was slow and by 9pm (we had booked for 8pm) the staff couldn't get us out of there quick enough. We weren't even brought the bill but were told to pay at the door on the way out. During the last half hour of our meal the staff were busy setting up for breakfast. The food was actually pretty nice but the service was terrible. All in all a disappointing experience for an £80 meal. Unfortunately I won't be eating here again which is a shame because last time it was really great.

This is the Hallmark Queen Hotel's restaurant where guests take breakfast and in the evening, dinner (open to non residents) I looked at the menu on line and was a little disappointed to be told by a member of staff it had recently changed HOWEVER I was not disappointed by my new choice of leek and potato soup (certainly home made, not a tin!) and Haddock Morney! Do NOT reach for the salt and pepper as the seasoning is very good. Efficient and friendly staff and I would be pleased to eat here again.

I've eaten at this restaurant regularly in recent months. The menu was maybe slightly limited, a touch expensive, but that was more than made up for by the fantastic staff and the excellent quality of the food. It was always a great experience. Now, the hotel has changed hands and a new menu has been introduced. More choice, and cheaper food, but definately not an improvement. Whereas previously you could have a chateaubriand carved at the table with some style, you can now have chicken wings and a burger. The staff must be devastated. What was previously a stylish restaurant is now serving generic pub grub. It's an absolute travesty.

Where do I start..My husband and I were regular guests at the Kings Grill but after being let down in October 2017 for my special Birthday with 12 guests we have not re visited.My daughter knowing this was my favourite restaurant booked for mothers day.The restaurant has been relocated and now resembles a cross between a hotel and canteen with no atmosphere at all.On arrival we waited a few minutes then asked if we had been seated??? After shown to our table next to a unused hot buffet table and on a corner of a large dining area we were unsure and should of gone..but we ordered and when asked for recommendation of either chicken or beef that is when I realised that we had made a huge mistake.The waitress had no idea what either were but both had gravy and some sort of potatoes?? The wine was served warm and the mains served with no seasonal vegatables as stated,untill we waited and tgen afked and waited.. the desserts again were were awful.When asked at the end of our meal how everything was, I told the restaurant manager how disappointed we were and of the awful service , she appologised and agreed the standards are not of what they used to be ???? Great thanks for that.Do not waste your time here.There are plenty of restaurants in Chester and this place is a disgrace to the beautiful Hotel.

this restaurant is an annexe of the queen hotel, its had a total refurb and has become one of the more popular restaurants in chester. the service was excellent and very professional. we only had the main course which we opted for the chateaubriand, the meat was carved at the table and cooked exactly as we had requested. the menu itself has plenty of options to suit all tastes. and they also gave us a plate of chocolates as it was my birthday.the price of it all was under £70 incl wine. which i could not complain about. i would recommend avisit if in chester. (the hotel is very good too). we will definitely return.

I don't like to give a bad review, but last time I reviewed this restaurant it was perfect. This time was one of the poorest dining experiences I have had. It is not the same restaurant. Just the hotel restaurant named the kids grill. No longer is it a fine dining experience. It's just a run of the mill over priced on site restaurant. The soup of the day was supposed to be mushroom, but was just so much salt and pepper there was no chance of other flavour. I was one of the multiple people that sent it back. The fish of the day although was nice, was a very small portion size. Without anything to go with it other than garnish. The sides that I ordered had been some how forgotten about. There is no longer a dedicated bar tender that can explain the different wines. There is no longer an intimate feel about this venue. It's just like a breakfast hall with the lights turned down. The only saving thing is that they still have live background music playing by an experienced musician.

Since Hallmark have taken over the Hotel we have found a deterioration in the service and also the food quality ,no doubt that cuts have been made to perhaps part fund the refurbishment of the room’s.Some months ago my family group booked 5 rooms for mid December on a Dinner,bed &breakfast basis, just 2 weeks before the stay I had a curt e-mail from the Restaurant manager to say that as they had booked a large party in for the restaurant they could not now provide us with the dinner that we had booked.As the booking had been made for the 15th of December it was not possible to book another venue,we were given little option but to cancel our family get together. So much for the Hallmark’s approach to regular patrons.

I'm surprised by the recent, negative reviews, perhaps some just don't like change? I've been visiting this hotel for 3 years now and love the older Queens section, and great as the previous restaurant was, it seemed a shame that you left this historic building to dine in a nicely decorated but characterless, modern building. The new Kings Grill puts you in the heart of the old building (previously just the breakfast room) with updated decor but still plenty of character feel. I dined here both nights of my stay and wasn't disappointed in the least. The food was faultless and equally as delicious as previous visits. The seabass fillets were cooked to perfection and the brulee with ginger, as mouth watering as I remembered. Can't comment on the cocktails as we were enjoying the prosecco so much, we had a couple of bottles! Service was a bit slow on the Sunday night but the restaurant was busy and we were in no rush. Monday was quieter so no real wait for any course and the staff on duty were all very friendly, having a little more time to chat. Chester has so many nice restaurants, that it's nice to get out and explore but I definitely recommend eating in house at least one night, when staying at The Queen.

Todo acompañado por una botella decente de vino blanco, a un precio razonable, añadido a la comida. El gerente del restaurante era muy eficiente y agradable y educado. Algunos de los camareros eran un poco lentos y tal vez podrían hacer un poco más de entrenamiento. . . . . Solo un comentario constructivo. La velada fue complementada por un joven que cantó y tocó el teclado, una voz encantadora y brindó un buen ambiente mientras cenaba. . . . . . . . Muy agradable, gracias señor joven! Aunque me pareció que el menú era un poco caro, la comida era buena y nos lo pasamos muy bien con amigos.

We had a wonderful chateaubriand steak in the Kings Grill. The restaurant is modern and pleasant, but maybe lacking in atmosphere. All the meals we could see looked really good though, and the prices were fair. I would be happy to eat here again.

We stayed at the hotel so booked in here for dinner as it was easier. I was disappointed with my Chicken Parfait starter, it had clearly been sat out for a while and as usual with a parfait or pate dish there was not enough toast, one tiny slice. My husband had the goats cheese which was superb.

My sister and I booked dinner here for 8pm after seeing their website. We arrived early so that we could have cocktails first and after ordering them, we asked where the cocktail lounge was...there wasn’t one! We were told there were a couple of chairs in the corridor that we could use. We sat there for a few minutes, but there was a large group of American teenagers making a heck of a row...only jovially, but didn’t exactly add to the ambiance. We decided to cut our loses and finish our drinks at our table. By this time it was about 7.40pm. We told the waitress what we had decided, and her response was that our table wasn’t booked until 8pm. I advised her of the position and she reluctantly showed us to our table.

We were captivated by the setting, pleased with the menu, delighted with some of the dishes, ( scotch eggs, sea bass, pork snitzchel were very good), but the service let the place down - we had to ask where our starters had got to after a half hour wait - they came within seconds, so were clearly waiting on the pass. The problem seemed to be that there was no person clearly in charge, with and overseeing eye - a common problem in this type of hotel restaurant it seems these days.

Vi kom til Chester med tog, og skulle videre en time senere. Kings grill lå i nærheten av togstasjonen, og hadde gode anmeldelser. I visited The King's Grill this Sunday evening with my daughter and we could not fault it. A special thank you to Samuel S and Sioned who waited on us and nothing was too much trouble. Also special thank you to the chefs: the meal was perfect. We would recommend the Cauliflower soup, Beef Medallions, Belly Pork and the Lemon Drizzle Sponge Cake. We will definitely be returning in the summer.

We had the undeniable pleasure of dining in this wonderful Restaurant recently and what a fabulous time we had! The staff are an absolute credit to this hotel and we were made to feel like V.I.P's. The quality of the food and drinks was superb and all of our party thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The entertainer made such a lovely ambience and all of the staff were without doubt, extremely professional, polite and courteous. Special mentions must go to Marvin, both Sam's, Nazrene and the adorable Paris. You all made our experience fantastic! Thank you.

After looking forward to this evening I was incredibly disappointed with our meal. We requested a gluten free menu and were given an old menu that was no longer valid. As my starter I requested the Beef Hash Cake - and basically received chunks of beef in mash and breadcrumbs - not at all what I was expecting, and overall bland tasting. for my main course I requested the 14 oz Club Steak - Medium Rare - when it arrived it looked fine but when I cut and bit into it it turns out that it was burned on the underside and I could taste this with every mouthful so I didn't eat most of it. When the staff asked if we enjoyed our meal we told them about the steak. They offered us 2 FOC cocktails in the lounge but as it was a Saturday Night the place was very busy and not what we wanted - we paid and left. Needless to say we won't be returning - I would expect a restaurant of this calibre to be able to cook a decent steak.

Despite our names not being on the reserve list (even though we rang up twice to confirm our booking???) we had a lovely birthday dinner here. The restaurant itself is very posh! But the service was great and staff very friendly. We had the Chateaubriand which was hand carved at the table and was the best steak we have ever had! The cocktails were incredible too. Would definitely recommend this place if you want to a special dining experience.

I cannot remember enjoying service as good as this for a long while.The staff were excellent being friendly, helpful and informative.The food also was excellent quality, served piping hot with very little time waiting.The hash cake with poached egg I had surprised me with the amount of pulled beefit contained and was very filling. Highly recommended. Chicken ballotine was tender and a delight, but my most pleasant course was the cheeseboard. A dish of grapes, celery and homemade pickle is followed by the cheeseboard being wheeled in. Your waiter describes the many various cheeses on offer and then supplies generous portions of your choice along with a selection of wafer biscuits.My wife had the lemon drizzle cake which she said was to die for.A good selection of wine on offer too.A big thank you to all the staff.

Great seating- formal and less formal with some great high backed upholstered chairs. Lovely mood lighting. Quite romantic ! The food was great- carrot and ginger soup was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Rib eye steak was wonderful. The creme brulee with rose water was sublime. A wonderful romantic quality dinner. Its not fine dining but it is a very good dining experience.

I went here yesterday night and thoroughly enjoyed my evening. The wine was excellent and the entertainment of a musician called Andy was amazing. He took requests from me and he performed with excellency! The service from Assistant Manager Marvin was very warm helpful and friendly. The two bartenders both called Sam were attentive and made me feel welcome and looked after me well whilst i was enjoying my evening. All the staff deserve a big thanks from me for making my night such a lovely one!

I visited the restaurant with 10 others a couple of weeks ago, and I was so happy with the level of service and quality of food we had.We were greeted by Marvin who took us to our table, he looked after us all night. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and was happy to cater to all of our needs. Sam the barman made us the most amazing pornstar martinis. We all had 3 courses, and not one complaint about the food. It was one of the best meals any of us have ever had. I would definitely recommend the Beef medallions, the meat fell apart in my mouth and the taste was amazing.We will definitely be back soon to see Marvin and Sam.Keep up the good work!

From the pre dinner cocktail to the post dinner liqueur everything was served with a friendly smile and tasted fabulous. All the staff introduced themselves by name and nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and the prices of the food and the wine were very reasonable for such a standard of restaurant. Highly recommend the lamb dish which was suburb and rib eyes were cooked to perfection. A range of tasty starter and a fabulous selection of cheeese served immaculately. Would defintately recommend eating here if you are visiting Chester. Fine dining standard at mid range prices !

Need somewhere a bit more special....? You're at the right place. 5* food and staff....couldn't be better. From the moment we stepped into the Cocktail lounge we were looked after by Sam our bartender/waiter who was 1st class...he engaged with us and made our night extra special. Would recommend the cocktails, Steaks were fantastic and Beef Hash to start also. Also had a pianist/singer which was a nice touch. Highly recommended.

We ate here two nights as we were staying in the hotel. We weren't disappointed. The service was very good, especially Craig and Sam, who were professional and friendly. It wasn't as expensive as we expected as you can get a three course meal for £30. A pint of lager is £5. The food itself was very good quality and nothing we ordered disappointed.

Excellent evening, food was fantastic, Beef Hash was full of flavour and crispy, main course was Pork Belly, it was crispy crackling with perfectly cooked meat. Our second visit to this restaurant the first was not great but we decided to give it a second chance, we were greeted by an arrogant young man who tried to seat us at a particular table, when we said no and chose another he became sarcastic saying that the atmosphere was where he wanted to seat us but if we wanted to be alone he supposed that was ok.We ordered a bottle of Chablis at £39 pounds a bottle which was very poor and made worse by the waiter who did not know how to pronounce it let alone serve it, the food was at best mediocre and extremely bland.As the restaurant was quite hot we decided to sit outside to drink the rest of the wine when we had finished eating, we explained this to the arrogant young man who stated that he needed a signature before we went anywhere!!All in all a bad and expensive experience definitely one to miss.

We had a reservation at the restaurant for 8pm. We were there approximately 5 minutes early. Unfortunately, we were left waiting for those 5 minutes to be seated. There appeared to be plenty of people around who seemed to be not too busy, shall we say, who avoided eye contact with us. Not a great start to our experience! We were finally seated at a table near the kitchen. I am always a fan of an open kitchen, it shows confidence in the food they are preparing. It was a good table from my perspective.When we were seated, the waiter explained what was not available on the menu and then left. No offer of taking a drinks order. Not even water. A further 5-10 minutes pass and another member of staff makes his way over to us with the complimentary bottle of water and asks if we were ready to order. By the way he spoke, it implied that he wanted to take a food order. Therefore, we responded by saying, "No, but could we order some drinks?"Now, the waiter's response was odd. Whether it was crossed wires, I'm not sure but it made us feel a little uncomfortable. He said, "Well, of course! That is what I came to ask you! I apologise for not stipulating that it was a drinks order I wanted to take." His manner was brash and made us feel a little like we were putting him out. It's a little difficult to convey in written language, but we felt uncomfortable from his interaction with us. We ordered a pint of San Miguel and a large glass of Sauvignon Blanc.Our drinks arrived fairly promptly from yet another member of staff who asked if we were ready to order. At this point it really seemed like they were pressuring for a food order so we placed it. For your interest, here is what we ordered:-TO START: Scallops and King Prawns (£12 - It was nice but very steep for 3 scallops and 2 in-shall prawns)Selection of bread and oils (£4)MAINS:Chateau-Briand (£50 with two sides and 2 sauces - we chose chips, onion rings, Diane sauce and peppercorn sauce)DESSERT:NothingWe chose the Chateau-Briand as we originally wanted to order the 8oz fillet steak for £25. However, as we looked closer at the menu, we noticed that the fillet steak option did not include sides or sauces. Sides were £4.50 each, and sauces £3. This took each of our meals up to £32.50. A tad extortionate if you ask me! The 14oz Chateau-Briand on the other hand was £50 including sides and sauces. No brainer really. Starters arrived roughly 10-15 minutes after ordering. We enjoyed the food and our plates were taken away. We still had some of our white wine and San Miguel left so we didn't order more drinks at this point. However, once we had finished we were left with empty glasses for quite a long time. We spent a while trying to catch someone's eye so we could order more but to no avail. Finally, I had to actually call out to a young female member of staff to order some more. It's a position I really dislike being in. So, we ordered another beer and a red wine. Drinks arrived with the food (there was roughly a 25 minute gap between the starters being taken away and the main arriving) and I was handed a glass of white wine, not red. This was obviously disappointing, but not the end of the world. I did not complain. It wasn't a big enough deal to me at this point. The main meal was good. The waiter had a little bit of difficulty slicing it it seemed which was a tad awkward. But, nevertheless, all was tasty and we felt we'd made a good choice. At this point, I'd like to mention Craig in the restaurant. He was the most attentive by far. Not just to us but to our surrounding tables. Very pleasant and helped in any way he could.Our plates were cleared and we were asked if we'd like dessert. We declined and sat to finish our drinks. Once finished, we again couldn't catch anyone for the bill. So, we went to the front and waited. Multiple people walked past us and failed to ask if we needed any help (there was another man stood there with us too). Eventually, Marvin dealt with us and the other man. He was also very pleasant. You will be asked to settle up at the restaurant at the end of your meal, by the way, if you have not left your card details at reception if you are staying at the hotel. It was a quick meal out for us - we normally manage to drag it out to a good couple of hours if not more. But with the feeling of pressure at the start of the evening, we were back in our hotel room by 9:30pm just 90 minutes after sitting down.

I went to have a bacon sandwich and a glass of red wine whilst the races were on in the week the atmosphere was great and the service was excellent. Couldn't't have been happier. Marvin and the other two staff that were there were so welcoming and upbeat on such a nice sunny day which made me feel very uplifted. Marvin was particularly kind and good at building rapport with me and other customers.

Restaurant not full but had to wait an age for attention. Asked for bread and olives but were told that we had to wait until we'd placed our main food order. When you're starving, a bit of customer tic is really important. Food was pretty good but the carrot starter was very sweet (carrot cake without the cream). Marvin (don't normally name names) could be brilliant because he has real presence but needs to chill and be more friendly - don't tell the customer to wait because he's busy. Went to a local pub after (Harkers Arms) and the service was a total opposite

We had a two course meal during our recent stay at the hotel. The waiter was very helpful, including bringing a jug of water without asking. As we were there on a Travelzoo offer we could not order everything but there were several options. I had chicken terrine starter and main course shin of beef and both were excellent. the are also fish and veggie options. The wines started at about £18 and I think it would be about £20 - £25 for the meal if outside one of the deals. The restaurant is very nice and there was a pianist playing which added to the atmosphere.

We had an evening meal included in our package and was led to believe that this was a top restaurant. They advertise their steaks as excellent 21 days cured. Two were alright and was was so tough that it was inedible. Not a lot of choice. They then tried to charge us £30 extra as we had the steaks. Several other guests had similar happen to them. They claim that it was a mistake! I have my doubts!Would never eat there again.

The food was ok, but the service we received was well below the standard I was expecting. I know that not all service staff love their jobs, but the person who served us barely smiled all night, he muttered and waiting for the bill was like waiting for Godot!! To top it all I had a great deal of sediment in the bottom of my wine glass. I know this can happen, but I've never seen it like coconut matting! This was a special night for us which was marred by the lack of attention we received. I know what service is and we did not receive it on this occasion.

We stayed the Queen Hotel for a two night break with dinner at The Kings Grill. The atmosphere was pleasantly understated with a nice musician playing keyboard and guitar. Overall the food is to a very high standard and we found it flavoursome. The venison was particularly good and we would both recommend it.The desserts are less creative than the main courses and I mentioned this point to Marvin the floor manager (?) and he took on my comment positively. We were well looked after by our waiter. (Can't remember his name but it began with an M!) He was very at entice and took time to explain the menu and our bill given that we were on a special deal.I feel as if The Kings Grill is a place on the up and I reckon that a 5th star will be there very shortly.

We had an evening meal at the Kings Grill as part of a package with a stay at the Queen Hotel, we were offered several time slots when we checked in and chose 6:30pm the restaurant. We were met by a wonderful m’trede and offered a choice of tables. We chose a quiet one and were given water and the menus. Throughout the meal at no time did we feel in anyway rushed. We both ordered the soup of the day which was Tomatoes & Chilli which was hot and very delicious and served with a fresh bread roll. One of us ordered the Hake wrapped in bacon with Mediterranean vegetables and a side order of new potatoes and vegetables and one of us (me) ordered the sirloin steak with a side order of fat dripping fried chips and onion rings. The meal was wonderful and amazing. We finished it off with the honeycomb panna cotta. We had a large glass of wine apiece. We enjoyed ambience of the restaurant and the staff were attentive without being all over you. We would well recommend this restaurant if visiting Chester.

Could of been put off booking a meal in the Kings Grill, due the negative comments here. But as we only live on the doorstep it was too much of a temptation not to give them the benefit of doubt, as all tastes and experiences vary vastly. Well from the moment we arrived at the busiest point of service to the moment we left (not quite the last) we had an excellent experience right from the attentive barman, the front of house and 'The lovely Fabio, we were anything but disappointed. The food was cooked to perfection, and we look forward to returning soon. We understand that there have been some transitional changes etc. Which are shinning through, and look forward to a return very soon. Keep up,the good work

An amazing place, very deceptive and lovely. Food was fantastic, steak cooked lovely and the sauces such a compliment and not overpowering. Desert was mixed up; apple sponge (not what we wanted) mixed up with honeycombe panecotta. Odd but rectified easily. panecotta nice but very heavy which we found odd.Staff pleasant but not attentive enough..never asked us about how meal was. pictures in the review identifies the extra done for those special moments, writing on desert etc. My good lady asked for something like that for me as my birthday.....was refused. Very odd.Mix up with bill which was replaced after we saw the cheaper one. cocktails missing, wine missing and the deal for set menu was wrong. said we had three course and only had two. balanced out right in end.

The front of house was very friendly, we arrived at 6pm on valentines day just as they opened, and were taken to a table over by the windows. Another member of staff brought over the set day menu and explained it to us.The starter fizzy wine was brought over and no non alcoholic option was made available they put it down said what it was and again left, as we both work in the city but live outside we had driven in and were therefore unable to drink the wine which was left and wasted. We ordered our main and starter to begin with, but wanted to wait to order desert to see what we would best like after our main meal. The starters and mains came which were nice, in my opinion average food style and options nothing spectacular. Our plates were cleared and then were left until 20:20 until we had to go up to the front desk to ask for a bill as we had no communication with any of the staff no one came and asked if we would like any drinks or dessert. I understand that sometimes this happens when a restaurant is full to capacity and short staffed however there was ample staff and only a 3/4 full restaurant.My partner was told after being given a bill for £44 that it was incorrect and that the bill was in fact £85, to which we said we only received starters and mains and two cokes to drink to which they reduced the bill to £65 to reflect no dessert.I can say that i am appalled by the service, the staff didn't even apologise for forgetting we were there, ruining our valentines dinner out, I will not be returning and would not recommend.

I booked the kings grill as a special present for my girlfriend for Valentine's Day. When I booked through the website, I booked an evening a la carte menu. When I arrived at the restaurant I was told that it was only a set menu on offer which was £39.95 per person. The choice of food on this menu was ridiculous (only 3 dishes to choose from) and when I asked if I could order off the main menu I was told no. Once we ordered our food, we were brought a small glass off kir royal. Not once was we asked if we would like to order drinks. When I finally got the attention of a member of staff, I asked for a drinks menu which I was given a normal food menu with a wine list in the back. Nobody came back to take our order so we ended up sat with no drink throughout our meal. Whilst sat eating our meal, we overheard a nearby tables food being served, which was steak. This was not on the set menu so clearly they were allowed to order from the normal menu even tho I was told no. Between courses we was supposed to of had a sorbet which we never received. Overall the whole evening was appalling, the food was lovely however this was severely let down by the poor service. I would normally of excused this as I'd of expected it to be busy but it was not. I booked this restaurant as I thought I'd be getting a meal of a higher standard. I do not like to complain but when spending such a large amount of money on a meal on such a special night i expected a lot better that I got. I did complain to a lady who I think might of been a manager who did apologise and give me some discount off my bill but this did not take away the fact our evening was ruined. For a restaurant/hotel of such class, the service we received was disgusting.
