As always, a great visit to what I think is one of the great pubs in the UK. Outstanding, beet, food service, and ambience and no music or kids. We have been going to The Albian Inn for 30 plus years and have never, ever had a bad meal. A REAL pub. Thanks, team! Ps go there when your hungry. They don't do small portions!

My twin brother and I were walking the whole length of the historic Roman Walls when we decided to take a time out and drop into The Albion Inn ,been here before on many occasions over the years, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit to here. A wonderful looking pub ,interior is superb, very traditional, a solid wood serving bar, vintage advertising enamels adorn the walls, eclectic decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub,its just a really good pub to unwind in. We were greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of the bar team, we ordered pale ale's, these were served in pristine condition, we chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub while we sipped our pale ale's. My pale ale was really good, a golden pale ale, hints of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a smooth finish,a classic British pale ale served in a classic British pub, its hardly surprising that this pub is so popular with ale's served in this good a condition by staff who are genuinely pleased to see you in their pub. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to The Albion Inn we had a great time. The Albion Inn is easy to locate along Albion Street/Park Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Saturday, midday till 3pm. ,5pm till 11pm. Sunday, closed. Well worth checking out if you're in the area or planning a trip to Chester but remember one thing ,no stags or hens parties allowed in this pub which is wonderful.

Came for lunch at The Albion with 9 friends whilst we were walking the walls and having a look at the Cathedral in Chester. We received a warm welcome from the landlady, her cat and the barman and after being served with some very decent beer, we didn't have to wait long for our pre-selected main courses. I had liver and onions with mashed potatoes and a mix of vegetables including some spring greens and served on a hot plate, it was piping hot and delicious. We all had different choices from the menu and were pleased with the excellent sized portions and quality of the food. Well done chef! We hadn't intended to have puddings but took little persuading to add them to our already excellent first course. The apple crumble became pear and together with the syrup sponge pudding, both were washed down with ample portions of custard. I'm delighted to say that the quality was equally as good as our main courses had been. The Albion Inn is a little gem hiding in plain sight of Chester Walls. It is very definitely worth a visit. The choice of beers is first rate and the food reflects a nostalgia that is sadly lacking in many hostelries. I will return!

A must visit when in Chester, located adjacent to the Chester City Walls, this characterful pub is decorated as it may have been over 100 years ago with large amounts of First World War memorabilia. Timothy Taylor Boltmaker on tap when we visited as well as a very friendly pub cat and excellent, simple, great value home cooked food. Extra points for having Staffordshire Oatcakes on the menu too! Interesting fillings too, including haggis and cheese! Delicious! The pub is very selective of it's clientele and rightly so, to preserve the historic atmosphere. The feeling of stepping back in time is quite amazing, as were the historic Christmas decorations that were up when we visited. I would fully recommend this pub to anyone visiting Chester who is interested in real ale and history.

However, the website claims the place opens all day on Friday, it certainly didn't yesterday. Visited here for a pint when up for work solo. Didn't eat here so cannot comment on the food but I hear it is rated highly. It was a Monday night and it was very quiet. It is in a quiet street beside the city walls, only a short walk from the centre. 2 real ales on when I visited, it would've been nice to see a wider selection. Then again, there's a sound argument for keeping 2 well rather than having 6 mediocre ones! An interesting place and definitely worth a stop but not my favourite as far as Chester pubs go.

I live in Chester, and have had the pleasure of drinking in this famous pub, tucked away within the Roman walls. I do like the old World War 1 posters and memorabilia, which of course gives the pub a lot of character.

The Albion is a unique pub in Chester in amongst the terraced houses near the walls and the river.. Very cosy old fashioned interior. Excellent traditional English food. Friendly service.

The landlord has been here for over 40 years and has certainly made the pub his own.

Many moons ago, when walking round the city walls, we found this quaint pub serving meals. The period menu was typical fare of the war years, finished off with an excellent rice pudding.

This place serves the best traditional British food in Chester. No fuss or stylish dishes, just proper amazing food. I am always shocked it doesn't get crowded as it should be.

This place is an iconic pub in Chester. Well worth a visit, and great home cooked food. Only complaint is that sometimes they are closed when open as advertised on their website.

I can honestly say that was the best roast I’ve ever had! We ordered extras but the portion size was so huge we couldn’t eat it all!! Also my ten year old son had a kids meal which isn’t normally big enough but it was great! Great value for him that includes pudding. Can’t wait to come back, staff fantastic also! 10/10 all round!

I don't write many reviews, but I had to write this one. I have eaten pizza in many places, including the chains and in Italy, yet nowhere have they been created with the imagination of the chef at the Faulkner. I'm specially talking about the toppings which, for me, are the area where one can be creative using ingredients of excellent quality. Enjoy!

I came here for an early evening meal, the place was quiet. It's nice to see the chef at work, from your table. There's a counter bell for when a order is ready; I suppose this can get a bit of annoying when it's packed. I decided to go for an 8oz steak, with rocket salad & frites; the peppercorn sauce was extra. I had it well done, it was just right; although there weren't many frites. So I decided to have a desert; a twist on the apple pie them, with an apple pie pancake. This came with icecream on top, and some kind of sweet sauce.

We came for a bottomless brunch on a Friday evening and the service was AMAZING! We were served by Katie, who was very attentive and went above and beyond for us all evening. We had the BEST experience, by far the BEST bottomless in Chester!! Will definitely be returning!! 🩷

Called in tonight for two fish and chips was absolutely terrible. The fish was burned. The chips were tasteless and I had to look twice. I thought I’d order the children’s meal. It was that small this place used to be great two years ago. Don’t know if this changed hands or what but won’t be going again again.
