The best restaurants serving British food in North West

Stopped for lunch and ordered what seemed to be the signature fish. The Whitby Whale aka fish n chips As the bane suggests it was large and looked impressive when served but inside the fish was pretty tasteless and very greasy A Whale sized dissapointed !! At over twice the price and half the quality of my local fish n chip shop Maybe a place to avoid The staff seemed pretty indifferent to my disappoint too

Didn’t bring curry sauce but everything else was good

Booked my fiancée birthday meal here for 6.30pm on 13th March. Confirmed text message from the restaurant. Got to the restaurant on the evening of the booking, to the restaurant to be shut with the shutters down. I was left with having to find elsewhere to go for a birthday meal at the last minute. I’ve had no contact from justinos to say anything has happened with the restaurant. I’ve messaged and called multiple times since this incident and I’m still yet to get a response. I’m awfully disappointed by this as this place was mine and my fiancée favourite Italian restaurant.

Amazing fish and chips. Some of the best fish and chips I ever had.

Disappointing visit. First drink (scotch) provided in an extremely well worn, scratched, dull glass. Main course was very good and up to expected standard. Dessert was supposed to be ‘cheesecake’. It was a square of slightly stiff, soggy bottomed mousse! Inedible, the waitress said ‘sorry, about that’. It should have been refunded or an alternative offered. Final drink ordered, never arrived and wasn’t on the bill either.. so it had been overlooked completely! Overall a disappointing experience.

What a beauty of traditional pub to visit! It was quite busy and we’d just only turned up for a drink and not any food.. we sat outside for a little while, but it was a bit cold, the guy called Steve and The lady with the dark hair was so lovely and helpful and said yes we will find you a table to sit at so that we could stay and have another couple of drinks.. we all drink Cask ale, and the beer was kept absolutely impeccable! The pub was very clean, all the staff were very friendly, the toilets were very clean, we enjoyed our visit very much and wouldn’t think twice about visiting again! We visited the pub on the off chance while looking for a late lunch. After reading the reviews I was slightly concerned and wasn’t sure what to expect however we were not disappointed. The steak pie was delicious and the flavour of gravy was wonderful. Would definitely recommend

The food was poor quality Ordered traditional meat and onion pie chips and vegetables Got a meat slice chips and lettuce very dry no gravy landlord not interested in the feedback preferring to argue

10 out of 5 !!! I love doing again !! Beautiful place in restaurant by inside, lots of pictures by old Chester zoo, Queen Diana and famous person !!! Plus lovely warm fire !!! What an amazing food and dessert !!! Very high service staff ( can’t remember her name staff ) !!!

Been to the smiths arms with my daughter and grandson today the food was lovely and piping hot the service was great would definitely recommend to others and we will be back thanks

Lovely food with very welcoming staff who are well organised. Warm.and cozy bar area where food is served in the perfect amount of time.

My son got married here on 25th April. Lovely venue,fabulous staff,perfect room for service. Good supply of drinks afterwards while photos were taken. Would highly recommend 👌

Hemos visitado el pub un par de veces ahora y decidimos debido a la excelente comida y servicio, reservar el pub para la cena de Navidad. ¡Bueno, qué puedo decir! ¡Ciertamente no nos decepcionó! La comida era excepcional, el servicio era excepcional! Es la primera vez que hemos salido para la cena de Navidad, sin duda no será la última y sin duda vamos a reservar aquí de nuevo para 2025!! Teníamos una reserva para 10 personas y la comida de todos llegó a tiempo, todo junto sin problemas! Bien hecho a todo el equipo y una muy feliz Navidad

My wife and I went to Embleys yesterday to buy a specific tree and other garden items. The quality of the stock was excellent, and the staff could not have been more helpful in facilitating our purchase and putting things in the car for us. We rounded the trip up in Arches restaurant, where the service was quick and the food hot and tasty. Why can’t other retail establishments be as good an experience as Embleys?
