Great food which is freshly cooked to order. We hadn't been here for a number of years and weren't disappointed

Lovely country pub in lea town, friendly staff and nice outdoor area for chatting / smoking. Good parking.

We had the Sunday roast beef dinner it was very tasty and good value for money. The drinks were also at a reasonable price. I would recommend.

Arrived to grab a coffee and do a spot of work. Free WiFi was an absolute saviour. Good atmosphere and great staff. Good location with plenty of parking.

Called in for lunch, really quiet, I ordered the gammon steak which came with the usual trimmings & a side of onion rings. It was nicely cooked, couldn't fault it, the chips were particularly good. All washed down with a pint of my favourite cider, a decent lunch.

We had a beautiful meal here, good value for freshly cooked food and friendly service. Would definitely recommend.

Called to get some tea after it had been recommended to us, and we will definitely be back. Had sold out of a couple of things on the menu, but there was still plenty to choose from. Only 10-15mins from the town centre and plenty of parking.

We went in for something to eat but the place was dead, bizarre house type music blaring turned us right off. This used to be our local before moving away and were surprised at the change of atmosphere. We stayed for a drink and nothing changed so left without eating. We'll try again now we're back in the area as maybe an off night judging by the other reviews. Barmaid could do with a smile? Might help?

We were camping just up the road and the campsite owner recommended popping in. So we did and the food was lovely. I have to recommend the steak and ale pie 🥧 👌 A lovely pub set in a nice location.

Called friday lunchtime. Very quiet, me my wife and two men. This is a lovely pub . Not a large menu , pub basics. Two meals were scampi and chips and regular burger. Both very nice. Very resonable prices.

We have enjoyed a delicious meal and drinks with friends, the comfortable outdoor seating area was a bonus in the hot weather. The food was very good, and well priced. The local burgers and steak were a hit, and the perfect calamari made us want to come back for more. We reached the Smith's Arms after a very pleasant walk on the canal, we will be back.

Used to visit several times a year but haven't been back for 3 years plus. Food was very ordinary, chips half cooked, wrap likewise. Service attentive but somewhat amateurish. Poorly lit and gloomy. I cannot recommend it.

The person behind the bar was lovely, she welcomed me and my dog, she also provided fresh water and dog biscuits. I only popped in for a quick drink and to use the loo. Thank you bar person/landlady for being so nice.

Recently taken over (last 6 months or so) Food has really improved and it is again becoming a focal point for the community. Entertainment every couple of weeks quiz/singer and DJ party nights. Well worth a visit if in the area.

Lovely 'down to earth' country pub serving good old fashioned pub grub. Welcoming environment with real log fires. Great service and good homely food, served promptly and piping hot. Well worth a visit.

Didn't eat there so can't exactly review something iv not had. Service was slow but the beer was nice.

A lovely meal ,in a very pleasant pub .the people had only taken over the pub 3 weeks before ,but they made us feel very welcome ,and the menu was good .

No it's the Windmill and it's been abandoned - why ?

We've heard that The Smith's Arms has got new landlords and decided to give it another chance after previous bad experience. It was lovely to see the place full and lively again. The new landlords are very friendly and welcoming. The menu has a lot to choose from and the food is very reasonably priced. The starters were tasty and well presented. So were the mains. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the meat in my Sunday roast was a bit cold. As if it's been carved some time earlier and not before serving it. Everything else was great and piping hot. We didn't order desserts but we saw people around us getting some and they looked fab. Next time we'll definitely try them too. All in all a great improvement since the new landlords have taken over. Keep up the good work.

Made more than welcome. We actually sat near the real log fire which made it nice an cosy. Outside the weather was pants. We got a drink and i was advised to try the hand pump but decided to have a pint of Wainwright which was nice, the boss had wine which she said was nice too. We asked if food was still available as it wasn't that busy mainly cos of the weather. The answer was yes. We both went for the " steak & ale pie " after a short while it turn up. The steak in the pie which we were told had just been made was great large chunks of meat which melted in your mouth The food was hot and cooked to order which is a good thing. After the meal we left mainly cos we had to drive home If your free on 15th October there is a motown and soul night but there are singers and pub quiz on other nights Might be worth a trip out for food and a little bit of good music We'll be back for sure Great food, nice pub, landlord/landlady welcoming and warm on a winters evening

Nipped in whilst camping after being told how good the Sunday roast was only to be told at 4pm on a bank holiday weekend that they had stopped serving food no explanation or apology just no we aren't serving.

New managers gradually making improvements. Now serving good food and live entertainment every Saturday night....a place definately back on the up

Delightful pub; brilliant beer garden (plenty of space), great service - swift and friendly and had a delicious fish finger sandwich ( lightly tempura battered) with crispy, fluffy chips to share. We will be back. Recommended! 😋 Visited again for lunch 20th March 2022 - roast beef dinner. Lovely. The roast beef was real (Not processed and for less than £10). Fish 'n' chips - fish cooked to perfection with a light, flavoursome, crispy batter. We'll return (We have quite a few times in between reviews).

Great village pub, great staff and good food.

Booked a table for four adults and two grandchildren as a special treat when we returned from a summer holiday with a time slot to suit all. The food one order luxury chicken sandwich turned out to be coujons on a panini. All other meals were ok but disappointed after an hour wait no sweet menu and after a request told there was a delay and couldnt give any idea how long. Couldn't even just serve a scoop of ice cream to the kids that doesnt take a chef Lost any future bookings from our party as we all went home only having half a meal.

Good place to eat if you have not booked

Had a family function at the Smith's Arms for 50 people. The food was excellent with a good variety of vegetarian options. Happy to reccomend

Simply its just absolutely fantastic

It was a Sunday and unfortunately there was only one beef, gammon or lamb. We ordered lamb, but was told sadly the lamb is off and can't be served. The staff were very apologetic and very helpful, giving us our round of drinks for free, and offered us a free meal if we come back. We happily accepted and have booked for next week. I would recommend the Smiths Arms as they went above and beyond to remedy the situation.

Really tasty, well priced food, friendly and efficient staff in a comfortable, modern and clean country pub. What more could you ask for? First time we've visited in over a decade and will definitely not be leaving it as long until the next visit. Definitely recommended.

Chips heavily salted and burger rather plain. Complained and got a discount. Staff prefer regulars. Will think twice about going back

Staff are very friendly and the food is great. We sat in front of an open fire to keep ourselves warm. There is a large carpark at the rear which makes it an ideal location for group parties and functions.

Always enjoy going to this pub, friendly welcome and great food. Good choice of gins too!

Bought 2 large glasses of wine but wasn't offered the rest of the bottle as their advertised offer says. Also served locals before new customers even though I was queueing first

Popped in for some lunch after reading reviews. Glad I did. Very pleasent country pub. Home cooked food. Made to feel very welcome as a solo walker. Had homemade steak and kidney pudding which was on the specials board for £12.95. It was very nice and steak melted in mouth. Toilets very clean and nicely decorated. Will visit again.

Popped in bank holiday Monday during our bike ride. The pub looks really nice as it’s been decorated and new seating out in. It looks miles better than it used to. Service was quick for food. My son had chicken nuggets, chips and beans and hot a good size portion. We just ordered several portion of chips and onion rings. All served hot. Staff were friendly and helpful. They have a beer garden with about 5 tables and there’s patio seating. It was really nice to sit here and have a few beers before the bike ride home. We will be popping back soon.
