Great service. Delicious haddock chips and peas. Best fish and chips have eaten for a long time. Recommended

I don't normally like to put bad reviews! But I was very disappointed, I got regular fish, chips and curry sauce. The staff were lovely and service was fast. But I was slightly put off by the flys in the shop, I counted 5, I was thinking to cancel order because of this. But they seemed to be on the wall's so I thought I would just overlook this. The potion was plentiful which was a bonus, but the fish was greasy and felt slimmy which put me straight off!! The chips were soggy and I wasn't particularly keen on the flavour either and lastly the curry sauce was far too sweet and tasted vinagery which wasn't pleasant. Overall I did not enjoy at all and ended up throwing the whole thing in the bin, which is unlike me as I usually demolish a good fish and chips. I would never go again or recommend anyone to try. Sorry big thumbs down.

Best chippy I've had in a long time. Done in beef dripping that tastes great, also has a gluten free range which was brilliant.

You get what you pay for. Makes the other chippys look poor quality. But this is more expensive. But I’d say it’s fair for this quality.

By far the best chip shop in Preston. The food is absolutely amazing. Lots of great specials on the board too. Definitely worth a visit.

The worse fish and chips I've ever had! Chips were double cooked, so I was told. Cooked once then reheated for the next customer . Batter on the fish was part black as though it had been reheated. Could only eat one side as the other was stuck to the paper full of greasy fat. Never again. £9 of wasted money.

Brother treated us to a chippy, first one since they've reopened. A little on the pricier side but absolutely worth it. Portion sizes are great and brother enjoyed his food so far (leaving some for later to eat) and I've tried a bit of the pulled pork loaded chips and they are absolutely amazing, so tasty.

Top fish n chips, well worth a visit and the prices are brilliant. We've just started going and we rate it now as the best chippy in Preston by far We have been to every other chippy in Preston. Brilliant *****.

Excellent fish and chips. The Chips I was told were cooked in beef dripping. Wow!! great flavour and taste too. Love the chunky chips. The fish was cod and was well cooked with crispy batter, moist fish and flaky fish. Enjoyed the large, crispy onion rings too. Juicy and sweet. Enjoyed the large portion of gravy too. The gravy tasted amazing and have not tasted a better Gravy. truly better than KFC. The tarter sauce for the fish I really enjoyed. You truly could tell it was homemade, with chucks of Gerkins and more amazing flavours. Will spread the good news and will order again. Happy to try any other food on the menu and review it. Best chippy I've had in Preston. All cooked to order with quality ingredients and a twist on the flavours. In terms of price, it's similar to most chippys in the area and tastes better. Good portion sizes, I've still got some chips and gravy for later!

Had to make a stop in Preston on way back south 2 test if the hype was justified. My word it was, ordered a feast n every item had a wow factor n something about it that elevated it above your standard chippy t.

It seems like this Chippy is trying too hard to be ‘posh’. It’s a Chippy, don’t over complicate it. The chips were soggy, if they were fresh I assume they’d be very nice. The chips were layered in far toooo much rock salt. The fish was a reasonable size but about 3mm thick. The fish was taken out of the fryer and left to drain on a piece of blue roll so the batter underneath was soggy. The server then picked up the fish with his fingers. The mushy peas were cold and had to be microwaved after I walked 60seconds to my house.

Three stars is fair I think. The curry sauce is was great (it's Irish style in taste) and the mushy peas were pretty good. Plenty of chips which were crispy with good flavour. Unfortunately the star of show, the fish was very disappointing. The 'regular' fish is frankly tiny and unfortunately half the batter came off with the paper. I don't mind paying a premium but come on you are a fish and chip shop, you could do with ditching the regular and making the medium the new regular, I'm sure it wouldn't cut into your margins too much. It was a shame because I like the concept, may still try again another time.

Average, fish batter was soggy expected it to be nice and crispy which is a shame, fish inside was nice, 2 lots of chips missing , awaiting refund via just eat could of been better esp when we spent over £40 probably won't be returning

Delicious. The best gravy in any chippy I’ve been to! You won’t forget a meal here and the portion sizes are generous. I can’t wait to go back and try the Garlic and Lemon fish. We need more people like this, they’ve worked hard on a new concept and kept a British tradition going. I’ll go out of my way to go to this chippy whenever I fancy one.

We need more chippies like this in lancashire🤤 if you love beef dripping chips that are golden and crispy where they need and fluffy in the middle this is your spot, the barmcakes are fresh and perfect for a butty, gravy is lovely, a big wow

The food was awful the battered sausages were overpriced and they were both very under cooked and half frozen. Very poor service

Expensive. Didn't like the chips done in dripping very rich tasting and didn't like the gravy. Seems like you're trying to make fish and chips posh when it shouldn't be posh. Ridiculously over priced.

We were very disappointed in our meals. The battered sausage bites were awful as the sausage meat was so overpowering and strong. The kids sausage did not go down well either. The chips had too strong a taste. The steak and Stilton pie and fish were good. Unfortunately most of the other food ended up in the bin which is a waste as it was very expensive.

Got fish and chips for my dad who has been poorly. His comment "THE BEST FISH AND CHIPS HE HAS EVER HAD" I had some too and the taste of the fish and chips was amazing. Excellent service. Thankyou for making my dad happy. We will be back. Thanks Yvette Browne Goosnargh

Not impressed at all. The chips look like they’ve been cooked numerous times and it is so overpriced. Never again. 2 portions of chips 4 sausages and a pie… £34!!!

First time visiting Umbertos Fish Bar today and I can safely say this is the best fish and chip shop I’ve ever been to! Very unique and very fresh!! 5* Will be sure to be going back again soon!

Only part of the order was given, even though we gave them a list and some had to go without tea, when called up was offered a free tea (the missing teas) another time??? Had to go and collect a refund and most of the stuff got left because it was rubbish

Absolutely gutted this place has closed. The staff are all friendly up for a chat while food is cooking always smiling which is refreshing food tastes great and cannot fault the prices Hope you guys open again soon

Went in for a takeaway pizza at lunch time from work and one of the staff was very rude and said thay had finished but said in window lunch time till 3??? Wont go again

Really not impressed sadly, used to be a great a chippy a few years ago. I believe it has recently been bought out by new owners. Soggy, mushy and undercooked chips all in one, gravy as thick as motor oil. Will avoid sadly from now on.

Umbertos is a place with history when it comes to fish and chips, it didn't disappoint. Staff are friendly and chatty and show a good spirit to the place. A good selection on the menu along with a few special offer too. They operate in a way that is covid secure. 2 people in at a time a Perspex screen and staff wearing face masks. You can also pay by card if you wish.

Why does it say it's open on Sunday's when it isn't until 4:30? Rang up to check opening times and he said 2 different times on both occasions when rang up.

Lunches now £2.99 for tiny tray of chips and watered down gravy. It’s was 99p only few years ago. Was £1.99 only few weeks ago. No value at all now used to be good for cheap lunch you wouldn’t grumble on small chips as it was £1.99. Much cheaper deals at other local chippys. Not sure how a 50% increase will go down with locals
