Huge beer garden which is very nice place to sit in when it’s sunny.

A Great British pub for sure. Every effort made to offer a vast selection of drinks for everyone, and delicious real food. Super atmosphere whenever you go. A definite pleaser.

Amazing!!! We attended this weekend, Lois looked after our party for a football evening for our children. Lois hired in a bouncy castle, did a BBQ and reserved our seats. The lads played football for 8 hours straight on the huge grass area, football nets included. Thanks for having us, everyone commented on what a great spot you have out back, perfect for kids.

Good point: Good beer, good doggos. Bad points: a bit like stepping into the Gallaghers house on the set of shameless. There was a nail bar thing going on in the corner, and there was a community crèche feel to the place. We were the only other customers in.

Only recently been taken over so a bit basic but had a couple of bouncy castles on for the kids, decent range of drinks and friendly staff so recommend you take a visit.

Friendly welcoming staff, my Dad and myself decided to try a couple of drinks, as the local community fought hard to keep this great pub open, we,ll definitely be back

We visited tonight 31/08. We ordered a family meal at 5.15. By 7.15 we had not received our meal. We noted that a number of nearby tables who ordered their food some time after us were served their food. Ours had still not arrived. We complained but still no food, some time later we received a refund. I cant tell you how disappointed we were that we watched table after table be served while we patiently waited for our food. We regularly visit the pub. I'm at a loss of what think and really don't want to come back.

I’d wanted to try the “Plungy” for a long time as I know it has the same owners as the best pub in Preston - The Continental. It was easy to book but the app to order wasn’t working when we got there. I was a little underwhelmed by the place maybe because I had high expectations. The food didn’t take too long and was tasty. Home cooked as well.

As a none spice lover, life can be hard. But half and halfing a non spicy pizza couldn’t have been easier at the the plungington hotel. Thank you!

While sitting at our table we noticed groups of 3 and sometimes 4 groups of women going to the ladies toilets together even though government guidelines clearly state people should enter and leave the toilets on a 1 in, 1 out basis, this was not monitored at all. Customers were freely going over to other tables to speak to their friends even though this is not allowed. Issues with ordering and paying for drinks and food. Thought we would give it a go, but will not be returning anytime soon, as it is clearly too much of a free for all....

Wow what a great surprise. Ordered a king prawn masala with rice. Very tasty. Full of prawns and veg. Wasnt expecting this quality. I mistakenly ordered a Balti pie for him indoors thinking it was a lamb balti curry. He was very disappointed until he saw it. A generous lamb balti pie with lovely pastry and ample filling with fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes. Hed definitely have again. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Plungington.👍👍

Had Sunday lunch delivered to our home from here today. Was absolutely delicious, fresh, homemade and piping hot. Support this business guys in what are difficult times. The food and service are top notch chef quality at pub prices.

We have been going in the Plungy for years now, it's our second home and the staff are our 'second family'. We haven't been in for a few weeks because of this awful virus and we have really missed it...and because we are elderly with underlying health problems we are now self isolating. Our daughter-in-law messaged us to tell us that they were doing takeaways and so we rang them almost immediately. Within the hour we were eating our Sunday lunch. Absolutely wonderful! Jason, the food was excellent, as always. Goes without saying that we will be using this service again. Thanks to all concerned, what started as a grim Mothers day finished as a lovely experience. Looking forward to seeing you all again when this nasty virus is defeated.....Suzie is missing you all!

Well done guys! We really enjoyed our Gammon dinner, spicy chicken burger and kids gougon meal. Ordered mid afternoon for collection at 17.30. Cannot recommend enough given the current situation.

Always had good food and the beer / wine good quality

The food was delicious. Unfortunately the clientele seems to be going backwards! Very loud and no respect for people eating. Was doing really well but feels it is going down hill!

Recommended by some friends, we have first time visited this pub for Sunday lunch. Nice welcoming service with as expected roast dinner. Tasted good. Where we were seating was drafty with constant traffic and we felt it was a big expensive for pub lunch.

Good beer. Good Food. Massive Beers Garden!

I have had a beer or two here in the old days. The Gin Festival here is superb and will definitely go every years it’s on with the family. We went for food here for the first time time and it was great. 4 adults 4 kids and everyone enjoyed. A couple of well portioned Sunday lunches and a couple of burgers for the adults. Good kids meals. Would have liked a small dip for the onion Bhaji with the Lime n Chilli chicken burger. Will try other things next time.

Had my 60th here last night. Absolutely brilliant. I went for the pies and pickles option. Totally delicious and excellent value for money. The room looked lovely and the staff were so helpful and friendly. Made turning 60 a pleasure apart from the hangover!

Popped in for a swift pint. It had a good atmosphere and decent beer on tap.

Been a while since ive been inside this pub, complete transformation of vibe which was welcoming and serving food during evening. Not sure of menu as i didnt eat there but restaurant part looked busy as pub classics dishes were going back n forth out of kitchen. Good selection of beers and CAMRA type ales available too. Gone are the days of a pint of Fosters and traditional game of pool which has been replaced by fancy GnT and pub snacks you wouldnt feel out of place asking for a serviette to go with it.

Decent little pub. Serve good refreshing drinks, decent food and in the summer they hold a good gin festival that can filter out to the outside beer garden in the back.

Delicious food, great service, accomodating of food allergies and intolerances, so so good with kids. We absolutely love this place.

Beer is great and bar staff friendly

Myself and my wife and our little dog Susie called in on a wet Sunday afternoon to dry off and have a welcome drink. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating we decided to stay for Sunday lunch. It was a good decision. We both enjoyed a lovely roast dinner which would be hard to beat at home, and, after I'd asked the friendly Chef Jason for something that wasn't on the menu, he sorted it for me,no problem. Very pleased and will be back soon rain or no rain.

I hadn’t been in the Plungy since it was taken over by the current owners (The Plau, The New Continental & The Ferret) and was very impressed. The food was excellent, the service was efficient and friendly and the tired old pub feel has gone. The menu is extensive with lots of healthy and local options. We had a full English, a veggie breakfast and Mac and cheese. All 3 dishes were very tasty, well presented and filling. The only thing that disappointed was the hash browns but that didn’t stop all 3 of us being very impressed.

Recent visit for food was disappointing at best. The seared scallops have never seen a hot pan and neither had the steak which was completely uncooked on one side. On the plus side the beer was as good as ever.

Always a pleasure to visit this establishment. Food and beer excellent. Always very accommodating with the little un too.

Interesting & vaired menu, great atmosphere, good beer selection.

The last time I called in here it was one of very many of the Pubs on Plungington sadly now it is one of the very few remaining. That was about 30 years ago. We were greeted on a wet night in August luckily we phoned ahead to confirm the table as they stop serving around 8.00. There is a good selection of starters and mains on the menu all reasonably priced. Also a good selection of drinks too all reasonably priced. The food was cooked well and served well and arrived on time. All in all a very good experience and I will call again on my next trip back to my home of Preston. A little sadness at the demise of the bowling green which used to be a picture.

Meat dry, onion rings overcooked, werid combination of foods . Had meal before that was good, tonight's disappointing.

I would definitely recommend The Plungington Hotel. The food was excellent! I had the wild mushroom gnocchi and it was truly amazing! The garlic bread is homemade, plentiful and gorgeous! The atmosphere was lovely, it was a Tuesday night, and all of the tables around us were full. And it’s really nice inside! A little gem!

The food was absolutely amazing and the staff were so nice and made a great service. I attended for Father’s Day and on a Sunday for drinks with friends. The garden is great for a drink on a summers evening. Overall a fantastic place to eat and drink.

Great garden, Staff brought deck chairs and tables out. Nice food, I had pulled pork, served in crusty sourdough bread bun from the specials menu. It was lovely. My friend had the prawn skewers. They looked amazing, ideal for a low calorie but very tasty meal. Felt a bit like we were on holiday. Staff were kind. Only thing is they stop serving food between 14.30 & 17.00.... Something to remember as very nearly missed it.

Lovly, very relaxing, the meal was beautiful defiantly going back for more. We went early evening, could imagine it cosy later in the evening really recommend it

Me and my daughter went to the plungington Hotel it was her father's day treat to me the food was lovely the atmosphere was nice and the staff are so friendly and very welcoming and I would recommend the plungington Hotel to anyone looking for good food at very reasonable prices and immpecable service

We booked the Plungington for our Daughters Christening reception and it was fantastic! The venue is great and the event was very well organised. We had 40 people attending and the staff did an excellent job of catering for us. The buffet was great and I really can’t fault it. I wouldn’t think twice about booking it again for another special occasion. Thank you

Not usually one to write reviews. however, I went for a family meal and ordered the ' Pan seared Salmon'. I was underwhelmed with it to say the least. dry on the outside, dry on the inside, and not what you would expect at all from a fillet of salmon with Kale and a couple of mussels. it was genuinely like eating sawdust. however, me being me, did the whole 'everything's great thanks!' not to cause a scene. Needless to say I now find myself unable to sleep at 1.53am after vomiting up salmon through the night! the only reason I have given a one star is because the lamb shank looked delicious.... I daren't try it though. on a side note, two apple crumbles were ordered on our table which were also reportedly crap and appeared that somebody had filled the pastry with salt instead of sugar! what a nightmare.

really rate these chefs great food and service , Recommend the Colcalhon mash, cant spell it sorry mash with cabbage and onions great . Great beer garden too and drinks selection. Nice to see fresh flowers on table and real candles

Plenty of outdoor space, decent food and at a good price.

The pub is great, been here quite a lot as a local and the beer is excellently kept, but unfortunately would avoid like the plague on a weekend. Not one busy sunny day has gone by without comments about someone passing by a group of “blokes” and being subjected to sexist or unpleasant personal remarks, including my disabled friends. Such a shame.

I went here for a family tea after hearing good reviews. It was quite quiet so a nice atmosphere for a drink and some food without anyone too rowdy around us. The service was excellent and fast, and the staff were friendly. The food portions were giant which was very pleasing! The menu was quite small (not in a negative way) but had a variety of meals with their own spin on. I opted for a burger stuffed with cheese and onion chutney. It was lovely however a little dry. The meat was cooked to perfection and was good quality. There was a mountain of chips that came with it, maybe a few too many (even for a big eater) and maybe a touch too salty. The food went down well with no complaints. We didn’t stay very long but it felt like a pub you could sit and drink in for hours. Don’t get me wrong it’s a lovely pub for a drink or food, but wasn’t anything particularly special. If you’re looking for good home cooked food it’s definitely worth a try. I won’t be rushing back but wouldn’t mind returning to try out something else on their menu. Maybe in summer when I can take more advantage of their huge beer garden.

Passing by, decided to have a quick couple and get out of the winter gloom. Like a throw back to a proper community pub Sunday afternoon. Warm, welcoming, great service lovely pint of Timmy Taylor’s . The Sunday lunch looked great too. Left with a warm glow!

I visited here midweek to meet a friend who picked it, it isn't somewhere i would think of for food but decided to give it a chance and glad I did! The pub does look like a 'drinking' pub from the outside, but give it a chance! It is typical pub decor (not too modern or oldie worldy) but it works. We seated ourselves and I must admit there was a long wait to be served for drinks and in the time it took we had chosen our meals. The menu is smaller than average but this isn't a bad thing especially when it's obvious it has been thoroughly thought through. We both chose the beef burger and was asked how we wanted it cooking (pink obviously), the chap we served us was super friendly and knowledable. The good was out a quickly as you'd expect and was so tasty, you could tell decent quality meat was used. Really enjoyable, I will definitely be returning!

Christmas dinner was nothing less than disgusting. Everything was cold, undercooked and completely covered in a thick congealed mass of brown sludge resembling gravy. Not the first time I've had a bad meal here but it will definitely be my last. The quality of the food is inconsistent and the prices are ridiculously expensive for a local pub. They did knock some money off the bill as a gesture of goodwill but our night out with our friends was ruined. I will never eat in this pub again. Serving food as bad as that should be a criminal offence, your so called chef should be ashamed of himself.

Great public house always feel welcome and they keep it clean and plenty of variety to choose from with food and beer. Feels nice n cozy with the Christmas decorations and real fire.

I attended with a party of blind people. The staff were brilliant, fully understood the disability and acted perfectly.. The girl behind the bar was praised by the group. The prices were spot on. The food was fresh imaginative, overall a joy. I had the hake Brilliant

A fantastic Saturday Night meal at the Plungington Hotel last night. I had a beautiful, delicate crab risotto and my husband had duck curry, which was also delicious, served with half and half (chips and rice). Both smartly presented and well cooked. Followed by a gooey Chocolate and Kirsch Brownie with a divine hazelnut ice cream. A high quality dining experience accompanied by great ales, attentive staff and a relaxing atmosphere.

It's stopped being a pub and is more like a restraunt....food is the priority and as a result locals are been pushed out ,no problem in summer as you can congregate outside now winters approaches it's lost its atmosphere...shame because the beers spot on and Tim the assistant manager couldn't be more accommodating...top bloke.

Read some good reviews of the Plungy, but never been in before.

Love calling in here for a pint or some food. When the sun is out there is plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the fresh air. When it’s not, the inside is clean and tidy. Great atmosphere. Food is superb. Own beer is well priced and an easy drink. So glad they brought this place back to life.

I took my granddaughter to the hotel for her friends birthday party she 9. I was very unsure what to expect but I must say I was very very impressed! The place was spotless but in and outside including the toilets. The lady behind the bar think her name was Sue was lovely, very friendly and helpful and made the children at easy. The food was chips and an assortment of sandwiches which were really tasty, full of filling in very good variety of bread. The manager think his name was Tim made a real effort with the birthday cake and played the song to go along. I would not hesitate to visit again or recommend!! A big well done
