Well, what can I say? What a fabulous venue this is! We first saw The Station on BBC news and knew we had to visit on our next trip up North. We had booked a table as it was Saturday lunch time and we're glad we did as it was very popular. Lovely outside area but we chose to eat in one of the carriages. Lots of room and our little pooch was made very welcome. Staff were amazing, so friendly, happy to chat about the station and it's history and very efficient when serving. The food was really SO good! We all had different meals but it was all served piping hot at the same time. My quiche was so full of cheese it was 'stringy' when cut. My daughter, a vegan had the vegan calamari and salad and it was very very tasty and beautiful to look at. We will most definitely be back when we're next up North!

We were eager to visit The Station, Irlam, as soon as we were told about it. What a wonderful place to stop of for drinks/drinks and food. The food is delicious 😋 Quick and friendly service from 2 lovely ladies, who we found out are called Susan and Dolly. Susan gave us an interesting insight on the renovated buildings. The venue is interesting, welcoming, spacious, clean and very well furnished. Upstairs was set up for a wedding. We were lucky enough to see the Bride arrive as we were leaving.

My wife and I visited for lunch today today as we had heard about how nice it was.Ordered 2 sandwiches, a egg mayonnaise and a cheese and red onion and a pot of tea. When the sandwiches arrived they were the worst sandwiches we have ever had ! Both sandwiches had about a millimetre of the filling on them , one of the sandwiches had a thin crust on it instead of a proper round of bread. They were supposed to come with coleslaw, none ! And the tiny bit of salad that came with it was pathetic. The place is nice and is interesting if you like old railway memorabilia, but don’t visit if you are looking for a nice light lunch ! It was definitely not value for money, one costing £5.95 And the other £5.50. Will definitely never visit again and tell my friends and relatives not to bother with a visit. From looking at some of the other reviews I think we have picked a bad time to go !! Very poor and disappointed experience .

My partner and myself visited as we were picking a car up in Irlam. We saw thus great little place as we got off the train, being a train buff (nowadays we are called Anoraks) when I was a boy we had to have a look. Excellent safety measures and booking procedure in place. The food was fantastic, we recommend the Hunters Chicken, it was cooked to perfection. The staff were fantastic too, friendly and polite while maintaining social distancing. There are are few old displays of old Railway memorabilia, signal box snd steam train etc. I have included a picture of a little train for the Children, my partner reluctantly took the picture as I'm 47 not 7.Thoroughly recommend this cafe.

We’ve been to the station a few times pre lockdown for breakfast and lunch and have always enjoyed the food. Our latest visit was good but could have been better. We sat outside and the waiter took our order at the table whilst wearing a mask, which we thought was great as the waitress that served us the day before was also wearing a mask and was very polite. We’ve been reluctant to eat out but with the new measures in place we felt a little more at ease. The food came and was served by a waitress wearing her mask just below her nose. We couldn’t believe it. When the kids food came the mask has slipped down further to the waitresses chin. She didn’t seem to bother to adjust it even after placing our food on the table. I could understand if it had slipped down whilst carrying our food and was quickly adjusted but that wasn’t the case here.We were really disappointed as this wasn’t the service we were expecting, especially when comparing to the service we received during breakfast the previous morning. This won’t stop us from returning as this is a great little place.

My wife and I had been for a night away, and on travelling back Sunday decided to jump off the train here for food and drink to round off the weekend. This place is 1 stop away from our local station, and we had wanted to go for some time. We stayed for 3 hours or so, had lovely draught beer and gin with sandwiches and calamari. The food was good, the drinks were great, the setting was unique and the service was amazing. I think the lady looking after us was called Sue (I think) - what a lovely lady. She made us feel like it was our local and we were returning regulars. We will be back! My only 'complaint' is that you cant tip staff on the PDQ machine, meaning if you dont have cash you cant tip. This needs to be changed in my opinion!

I had a sandwich which they added extra on for me so I was well pleased. The place is spotless and well thought out and good photo ops. We would go again defo .

We all enjoyed the food that we had. The bill - of crica £20 for the 3 of us when we had all had adult lunches was good too. Another local breakfast destination but this time with a difference. A short drive from the Trafford Centre and you'll find The Station. And it's located at an actual active train station. Lovely and tasteful restored the building houses a small and very interesting railway museum, detailing the local history of Irlam and Cadishead. Its like train heaven with a great cup of coffee. A straightforward menu with hearty, good value and well prepared food. Quality is good and service is very good. We had omlettes, toast, coffee and tea for £14. These were huge. Coffee is great and we'd recommend taking time to look at the exhibits. For example, the used to make Jubbly's on Manchester Road in Irlam. The best bit? You can sit and eat in little railway carriages within the building which was really cute. It's worth the trip and we look forward to visiting again to sit outside to watch the trains to pass. Highly recommended.

This place is categorised as ‘quick bites’, i’m just thankful I didn’t have a train to catch this morning. Sadly the great decor and atmosphere was severely let down by its poor service. Taking over an appalling 45 mins for a standard breakfast service, which when it eventually arrived was delivered to the wrong table. The food was overcooked with the sausage being tough and rubbery, the compulsory fried eggs were burnt on the bottom and stark contrast to the soft soggy hash brown. Disappointing visit on this occasion even though it wasn’t busy day.

Awesome food as always, Christmas menu is now on and I really recommend the Christmas wrap or the goats cheese quiche. All I would say is they need to do something about the parking availability, I don’t think it’s fair that those wanting to visit the station for food / drink have to struggle for parking as there all taken by commuters using the trains, half of the car park should be for using the facilities only 6 spaces isn’t enough (it’s got too successful )

As a railway fanatic I was so bowled over by this place. A working station on the Manchester to Liverpool Lime Street line, it has been fully restored to its former glory of double fronted red and cream bricks, with the fancy eaves and barge boards typical of the company's brand..see also Urmston and Glazebrook. You can sit in a booth like a railway carriage, complete with holiday posters and wire luggage racks. There is a museum and a wall of luggage! My coffee was excellent quality, served in good china and my full English was high quality sausages and bacon, beautifully cooked and Bury black pudding. Excellent value, including toast and coffee £6.95. The team are very kind and efficient and made me very welcome, I was visiting family and live on the South Coast, and this warmth was very nice indeed. Full marks and full steam ahead, and many thanks to everyone at the station.

What an unexpected treat. This is more than just an attractive railway station building. Now housing a cafe and bar, we headed here for lunch and were so pleased we had made the journey. There are several different seating areas inside the station cafe and tables outside alongside the platform in a relaxed, generous space. The first thing that catches your eye as you arrive is the mural alongside the tracks. One of a number of such artworks at Irlam telling the story of the area and its people, inside the cafe there are some very appealing brochures which share these stories. We really enjoyed reading them as we had our lunch. We chose sandwiches which were tasty, and then couldn’t resist the Victoria sponge which tasted as good as it looked. Everything about the station and cafe is very pleasing to the eye - from the flowers in tubs outside to the indoor character. Lots of attention to detail, old railway signs and nods to the theme. Good toilets inside and a small children’s play area outside. And while the station carpark was full of commuters’ cars, there is a dedicated carpark right beside the cafe for customers. A destination lunch experience.

It was very busy but the lady in charge had very kindly reserved us one of the three carriages which was lovely, very clean and cosy. All the staff were very pleasant, efficient and welcoming, and we were given the menu which contained an amazing choice of food, everything from soup to a full English breakfast which was served until 2pm. I had a ham omelette and coffee, both of which were excellent, and the others had the breakfast which was very much enjoyed together with a bottle of Prosecco and coffee. The surroundings of the old station are also fascinating, with old photographs on the walls, a historical video , and other relevant historical artifacts spread around. All in all a superb great value lunch out and thanks to the staff for making it so.

So we just viewed the inside, which is interesting, and as dogs were not allowed inside and he could not get a drink, we left to get lunch elsewhere.

My friend took us to the Station last year after a walk. My husband and I both loved it. The place is cosy and the staff are friendly. We went again last week for lunch and the pie, peas and gravy meal was as tasty as we remembered it. The only small negative from my husband is that he likes to drink ales and the Station only had one type. But otherwise it's great for lunches and coffee and cakes too.

Great place to meet friends. Great service by friendly staff. Lovely pot of tea and warm fruit scones with cream and jam, enjoyed sitting in a railway carriage booth. Plenty of parking spaces

I’ve been three times in the last few weeks as this lovely little place is local to me! I love the atmosphere and the cosiness and it is the only decent place to go within the Irlam area!

Called in after a day out. And was surprised at how relaxing The Station is with there fire going, booths and relaxed atmosphere. They have a selection of food, homemade cake and scones to name a few. The staff were very polite and friendly they made a lovely hot chocolate for my youngest which he loved and polished off. The homemade cake was gorgeous and a very good sized portion. Will definitely be going back to support local businesses.

We have been to the station restaurant several times and cannot fault the food. The staff are excellent and the value for money is great. It is so nice to have a decent place to eat in the area and the transformation of the the old station is a credit to all involved

bacon and sausage on toast - bacon was barely cooked and had a horrific smell to it so couldnt be eaten. Also the toast wasnt toasted just soggy slightly warm bread.

Not sure if we caught them on a bad day because it was not an enjoyable fish and chips at all, and the reviews are so good. Very greasy and soggy, and I love soggy batter but it was just too oily - the paper was dripping with it.
