Got Ice Cream while in town. Wonderful handmade Ice Cream.

Last went a couple of years ago when I would have rated it 5 stars.. this time it's a 4. Reasons, although it cost less than our previous visit, we felt the quality of the food had been reduced to cater for that. Every mouthful on our previous visit was met with smiles due to the flavours of each dish from the tasting menu.. this time this didn't happen. Although good, starters definitely didn't have the wow factor at all, normal in taste just that they were fine, a 3 out of 5. Main courses were good though, still no wow feeling like previous visit, but still lovely (4 out of 5) and desserts were similar very good but not outstanding, 4 out of 5. Add in a £60 bottle of wine and a service charge, it makes it a pricey day for a good meal.. not a memorable meal which we had 2 years ago, which cost more but made us want to come back at a future date.. unfortunately our recent experience disappointed us slightly and we will have to go somewhere else to try and get that feeling again.

Busy little cafe next to the riverside walk. Also dog friendly. Stopped by for a morning coffee break.

Fantastic Sunday roast - perfect in every way, a generous portion of pork, served piping hot with giant, fluffy yorkshires and a really flavoured gravy on a mountain of veg. Sticky toffee pudding desert was a step too far, but so worth it.

Popped in on way back from Durham, toastie and side order or chips, lovely

Just lovely to be back, enjoying great food, with friends. Salmon with samphire..... braised leeks, lentils and fish.... Great stuff!

Had a fab afternoon in the crown and the landlord was generous with his time.

Very welcoming staff and local customers. Excellent choice of food available. Food was served promptly and was of excellent quality.

Had a fantastic afternoon tea for my birthday! Lovely atmosphere and welcoming service they made my day so special and the food was amazing. Would highly recommend!! Cant thank the staff enough, definitely going to come back again and try to the main menu it looks great
