The best restaurants serving British food in North East

Varied and wide choice of food all presented and cooked very well with good sized portions. The staff were very friendly and polite could not do enough for you.

Savannah is full of food that I will crave until I have it again. I did not think a banana split would be one of those items. I recommend the traditional. It was one of, if not the best dessert I’ve ever had. The details are incredible. This is not some novelty location with an assumed following from tenure. It’s an establishment that strives to represent its craft to the fullest. Wait in line. It’s worth it.

Nine course tasting menu lunch, celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary. Food was phenomenal - massive compliments to Carlson and his team in the kitchen. This, together with the outstanding service from Ben, Daisy and the front of house team gave us an absolutely wonderful celebratory experience. Thank you!

Beautiful food in a beautiful venue, but service was disappointing given the price point - and the fact that the restaurant boasts a Michelin star. We were there on Saturday night for my husband's birthday and shared the sea bass ceviche, Welsh rarebit and cured and smoked salmon- before getting a Cote de Boeuf. As I said, the food was excellent; beautifully presented and delicious. However, it felt that the servers were disinterested and inattentive because we were ordering from the a la carte menu, as opposed to the tasting menu. There were several dishes we ordered which featured on the tasting menu - which we heard described in painstaking detail to the table behind us as they we were served. Unfortunately, we received no such description of the details of the food - the various elements and ingredients, which you would typically receive from a restaurant of this level. It's a very minor detail - but made us feel very much like the "poor relation" - in spite of paying more than £250 for the privilege of eating there. (This was also reflected in the very casual - and somewhat tardy - approach to our drinks, too.) It's a shame the service let down what would otherwise have been an excellent meal.

Always a lovely visit here . The food is always good and the staff are amazing .

Met an old friend here for a pint, sat outside as was a half decent day, spoke to the landlady of the pub and she was friendly and easy to talk to, atmosphere was really nice. It's dog friendly too which is a massive bonus for me

We booked a large family group at short notice for my 60th birthday. Everything was brilliant, we'll definitely be coming back, so highly recommended.

This was our first visit to Wentworth Cafe and we are already excited to return. The service was exceptional and the food quality was second to none. The attention to detail, particularly when it came to our cappuccinos was impeccable, and they were GREAT coffees! The produce was wonderful, tasted like it came straight from a local farm shop and excellent portion sizes. Best breakfast in Northumberland by a country mile!

Situated beside the A68 west of Consett. Good quality food and pleasant staff Plenty of parking and amazing views.

On the road in the campervan. This was a planned stopover but we missed the food cut off by 1minute. The staff here were super helpful with the WiFi & advice on the local area. Lots of choice for drinks. A pint and a half of Madri was £7.30. Beautiful part of the coastline to explore.

We drove past this place a few weeks ago. It looked so inviting that the three of us tried to get in but as it is such a popular place there was quite a waiting time. Despite being disappointed we vowed to return another day. We returned today and to our delight we were able to be accommodated immediately. So glad we chose to return. As soon as you enter the place the décor just grabs your attention. There were hearts everywhere you looked. The plates with your meal on are even heart -shaped - as well as the spoons. How nice is that? The place is beautifully decorated in bright colours with a certain appeal for young and old. I’m sure the kids would love to eat in such delightful surroundings. The menu is more than adequate to satisfy most people. The portions are very generous, and the chips, that come with some of the meals, deserve a special mention – they are to die for. We were too full from the main meal - but maybe next time we can leave enough room to sample the desserts. The staff make you very welcome - being very attentive and polite. We were served by the very capable and charming Leah, who smiled throughout the time she attended to us. In fact, all of the staff went about their duties in the most pleasant of manner. A big thank you to all the staff for turning our first visit in to a wonderful experience. For the effort that the management and the staff put into making your visit a pleasant one this place certainly deserves to be successful. Give it a try – you won’t be disappointed.

Vinimos por el día de la madre. Saludo cordial como siempre. Todos pedimos la cena del domingo, con diferentes opciones de carne . Todo cocinado maravillosamente con un montón de verduras y salsa rica. Nos saltamos los entrantes, así que tuvimos mucho espacio para el postre. Los postres volvieron a estar llenos de sabor y gran valor. El servicio fue excelente de principio a fin. Lo mejor de este café es que, ya sea la cena del domingo o un desayuno inglés completo, la calidad y el servicio son brillantes.

This is normally one of my favourite curry houses in South Shields but last night was such a disappointment. The curries ordered were nice however we waited over 50 minutes for our main courses. Nobody updated us till the last minute. One server was lovely and let us know just before it came out. We had barely sat down and they wanted our drinks order, and didn't give us long to look at the menus before they were asking for our order. Which was annoying since the food took so long. I had to ask for water twice before it came as well. The manager seemed very odd and was just standing around watching and staring. The staff were all congregated around the bar and they kept looking over at our table and talking which made us feel quite uncomfortable. The general atmosphere was very strange and there wasn't the usual buzz that there is in the other shields curry houses.

A wonderful choice of breakfast food with swift and friendly service. Would highly recommend. The cakes looked pretty good too but we were too full of breakfast buns to fit them in. We'll be back....
