Always good food and helpful staff. Nice cosy historic pub.

Called in for lunch today, the pub is old and the interior reflects this, we like this. Our food arrived in a good time, decent portions , hot and ultimately tasted absolutely delicious. The staff were really pleasant and helpful and were not overbearing in any way unlike some places. We would recommend and we will re visit.

This is a very cosy friendly (dogs as well) pub in Tudhoe, the staff are very friendly, the food is very tasty and the toilets immaculate. everything to make this old pensioner very happy.

My nephew booked here for the Christening of his 2 daughters and 5 stars is not enough.The buffet laid out along with the service was fantastic with the friendly staff going above and beyond the call of duty. It's a traditional pub that's very welcoming with a great range of beers ,Timothy's Taylor's being a favorite, and served in a great atmosphere.Plenty of parking. Highly recommended

Food was lovely, staff were very helpful and pleasant. There are constantly too few staff working though, particularly behind the bar, resulting in large queues and long waiting times to be served.

Visit here quite often and am finding the food to be not as good as it usually is. Ordered lasagna and found it difficult to eat some of it due to being hard. It's as if it was microwaved before coming out to the table ? It used to be really nice. We also got someone else's drinks added to our bill ? Always check from now on. Hopefully, 2025 will see an improvement.

Fabulous late lunch for our 10th Wedding Anniversary! Every aspect was just perfect - food, drinks, environment (& right by the wood burner), atmosphere, staff friendliness & attentiveness. Found on the off-chance but we will return. Thank you so much!

Very average meal which firstly started with an out-of-date camembert! You could tell it was off as soon as it was put on the table, it smelt really bad and upon tasting, very sour! As camembert comes in the packaging, you can see the date and, of course, out of date!! We sent it back and chose not to order another. But the mains were delicious, big portions, nice and hot. Couldn't fault service from the staff, but can't say I'd rush back, sorry.

Nicest pub meal we’ve had in a long time. Great Cumberland sausage and scampi! Absolutely delicious, nicest carrots I’ve ever had 🥕 Good prices and attentive service from the staff. Really enjoyed it! Crumble lovely too!

Christmas lunch function. The food and service were excellent. Very friendly staff, in a lovely country pub setting.

Stopped here in the campervan for a Stopover after a day in Durham, en-route to a week in Northumberland. What an amazing pub! The landlady (and her mother) could not have been friendlier or more accomodating, even on a very busy Friday night. All of the staff made us feel extremely welcome, the pub was very warm and welcoming, very cosy (and dog-friendly) and the food really was superb. The parking location for the campervan was nice and quiet and tucked away under some trees right next to the pub. We genuinely could not have asked for more and look forward to going back.

We stood there with the motorhome last night and ate there in the evening. Food, service was absolutely great and everyone was really nice. The ambience is really nice, just as you would imagine an English pub 😀. We would love to come back next time we visit England.

Would not recommend to anyone unless you want staff with a bad attitude and mediocre food at best! We went for a friends Birthday and was spoken to with such disrespect. I don't think they like people coming in unless you are one of the locals to that village.

We stayed with our motorhome at this lovely pub. Great place, friendly staff and locals and food was delicious. Will be bringing our pooch next time to try the doggie menu.

Very disappointed! One very rude member of staff. There was a party of around 20 people eating plus a few more having just drinks. We were asked by an extremely rude woman to settle our bill. SHE had made a mistake and hadn’t charged someone in our party for one of their dishes, this woman was rude as if it was our fault. Considering the amount of money we all had spent on food and drinks over the course of that day, she had the audacity to cry over a corned beef pie that I happily paid!! Not only was she rude to myself but also a couple of others in the party including my 65 year old mother In law (unacceptable)! Such a shame as we had dealt with another lovely member of staff beforehand. Won’t be returning anytime soon. The hundreds of pounds that were spent that day, I would have preferred to have given to another pub that does not have staff with bad attitudes.

Such a heartwarming and lovely place. We stayed here for a night with our campervan and had some drinks in the pub. We had a very warm welcome and felt very comfortable. Would definitely come back to stay, eat and drink.

Very friendly staff managed to accommodate us for lunch when they were fully booked. Delicious roast dinner but too big for both of us. We were allowed to stay in our Motorhome in their car park which was an added bonus. Great experience all round.

What a lovely village pub. Met my friend here for a catch up. Easy to find, good parking and the most, friendliest, helpful staff. We didn’t eat but the food other people ordered looked lovely. We will be back and look forward to trying out the menu then.

What a lovely find. You get the benefit of a village pub with fantastic food. being from the south we were blown away with the chicken parmo …. And the lovely waitresses! Well worth a visit.

Stopped overnight on are way up to Northumberland and so glad we did, it’s a Britstop so we stayed in our VW Camper. Arrived at 6pm early as we hadn’t booked till 7pm, not a problem direct round to the side of the pub to find a flat gravel car park brilliant, went into the pub to be meet by wonderful staff, the service and food was absolutely brilliant, the steak and black pudding pie was absolutely beautiful and the grave at 50p was absolutely beautiful, Jane had the Nachos Grande which was huge and maybe could have had the Nacho starter which I had as it was plenty for a main meal, then we settled down for the semi final, which I then decided to have pudding which was also worth having. All in all I would recommend The Green Tree fantastic place in beautiful setting. Thank you one all fantastic every single one of you, hope to see you again in the future xxx

Went down to see the grandson gathering for his prom. Okay but expected more. Heard good things about the green tree, but, thought it was okay.

We came across The Green Tree when we were on holiday in the area last year and it was so lovely that we went back for dinner on two evenings during our recent break! It's a lovely pub in a cute little village! The staff are so friendly as well, we hadn't booked the first evening but despite being busy, they were able to accommodate us, which was great and the food was lovely as it has been each time we have visited! Would highly recommend!!

Was there for a private function food and beer were lovely and staff very friendly and efficient

We recently had our wedding here and the whole day was absolutely perfect. Murrie arranged everything for us and it was so easy and stress free. The food was outstanding along with the service they really went above and beyond to ensure our day was wonderful. It is a stunning and extremely clean pub in the most beautiful setting. I would highly recommend The Green Tree for any occasion and last but not least it’s dog friendly my little sausage dog had the best day!

Came for Sunday Lunch which was exceptional! Definitely recommend the pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese as extra add ons. For a main I had the nut roast which is a great alternative to the traditional Sunday lunch meats. The pub is dog friendly in one section and there is a lovely beer garden too. It's worth noting that the pub isn't 100% wheelchair accessible as there is a step at the entrance and to the washroom

Been meaning to try this local pub/restaurant for ages as it's local to us. Great menu with lots of choice, I had the steak and black pudding pie with homemade chips, it was delicious, wife had the corned beef pie but opted for fries. Large portions on both meals and the desserts are also homemade and to die for wife recommends the ginger sponge pudding, I personally recommend the apple and blackberry crumble, both came with custard, but you could have icecream or cream instead. Tracey at the bar was very welcoming and helpful. Top place to dine or just a quiet drink plenty of well kept beers 🍻 and really good choice of gins and other spirits or cocktails 🍸.

Always really good food and service love it here my favourite place to go for a meal.

Corned Beef pie chips and peas, pie was tasteless needed seasoning, and overall meal only warm, disappointing but my friends company made up for the visit 64.00 for 3 people 1 drink each and a coffee each.

Great food, service and nice quiet stop over in our campervan. Beware the starters are almost the size of a main meal!!!

Food was shocking. We had a large party with no one enjoying their food. The sweet and sour chicken was hard with a flavourless watery sauce. I ate one piece of chicken and left the rest of the meal. No discount, alternative option or refund was offered. Only 2 fish fingers per kids meal with all staff bar the two women wearing different attire being miserable with customers. The women with blonde tied up hair was complaining about a customer whilst I was at the bar being served. All in all a disappointing experience, first and last time of trying.

My friends wedding meal held here absolutely fabulous food delicious staff exceptionally friendly we all had a lovely time great place definitely will be going back for a meal 👍 🌟

Found by chance in a lovely little village as staying locally for work. Dropped in for a meal, ham egg and chips. Any may I say I was not disappointed. Managed to fit me in as was fully booked. Great service and friendly atmosphere. Thank you.

Food was beautiful and well worth the money paid would recommend the spicy parmesan and the knicker bocker glory they're lush although I didn't have jalapenos on mine as don't like them

Food was very fresh & hot. Nicely presented & good portions. Staff were very friendly & attentive, also very clean & smart. There was a cosy atmosphere & everywhere was very clean. There is an old world atmosphere with low ceilings, beams, decor & layout. We had a very nice experience here.

This pub has been around since 1727, and with food and service like this, it will be around for nearly another 300 years. Very dog friendly, and also, it is one of the best pints of San Miguel I have had.

Had a great family meal out. Very busy so glad we booked a table. Service was excellent and food was amazing. Homemade corned beef pie is my favourite! We noticed the dog food menu whilst we were there too so may bring the dog next time.

We were only going to have a few drinks but the menu looked great so we had a few of the starters to pick at. Chips are amazing proper homemade chunky chips. We sat in the bar with the lovely fire blazing. Staff were loving, will defo be visiting again.

Traditional grub at its finest 10 out of 5 , stunning setting, Old Traditional pub, very welcoming staff to us & our 2 dogs ( dogs in bar area only) , proper chips beautiful food , highly recommended will be definitely returning.

Sunday lunch is always a great treat. 3 different sizes of meals to suit all appetites. The crumble for sweet has to be tried to be fully appreciated.

Travelled from Sunderland to this lovely pub / restaurant. Situated at the side of pretty Tudhoe village green with a garden at the back. Food was down to earth- delicous and plentiful. Best pint of American Shipyard IPA I have had + unpretentious Jack Rabbit wines on tap to compliment your meal. I can imagine this place to be extremely busy on warm sunny summer days and not to far from Durham to attract undergraduate + family for lunch / dinner.

Disappointed that at 7pm at night, my first TWO choices of main course were not available. This on a night when restaurant appeared not to be that busy! Standards appear to have slipped since previous visits

Service was fine until the waitress started clearing the table then presented bill and hovered over. Despite having over half a bottle of wine left we paid and were told that they were closed….at 9.15pm! Website and Facebook state closing time is 11pm. Our taxi home was booked for 10pm so had to be brought forward. Shame as food was good.

Regularly featuring in articles for the best pubs in County Durham, The Green Tree is a great choice for a nice meal, relaxed drink or even the Monday pub quiz (winter only). There is a small venue for parties in the beer garden. Evenings in the bar seem quiet during the week, making it a lovely place for a cosy drink by the fire. The restaurant, where they serve huge plates of honest comfort food is often busy - book in advance! A favourite place with cyclists, dog walkers and locals. They even have an apartment you can stay in upstairs.

Fantastic sunday roast lunch here. Took my mother and wife and we agreed it was the best sunday roast we had eaten out in county durham. Superb service from staff and excellent value for money. Everything is freshly cooked and home made. Just brilliant!

Called in and was lucky to get a table for 4 ....the staff were really friendly and we were served quickly ...everyone ordered something different and it was all delicious .....well cooked , piping hot and good sized portions ....would definitely recommend and will be going back again soon !!

Disappointing Sunday lunch... frozen vegetables.. undercooked... gravy cold. .beef lacked flavour.. not their usual standard..

This pub wasnt even open at 12.30 for lunch yet google said open from 12 till 11 disappointed.

From start to finish, the staff were very friendly and supportive. Upon entering the bar, the staff were responsive and guided me to our reserved table. The food arrived with good timings in between servings and it was beyond our expectations. Thank you for the courteous service and great veggie meal. Until the next time...

The restaurant wasn't particularly busy when we arrived. However, from ordering 3 meals, we waited over an hour for our food. Was it worth the wait? Indeed, not. Food uninviting and dry. Afterwards, we were asked if we would like to see the desert menu, and we said that we would. 40 minutes later after we were still waiting for the menu, so we finished our drinks and left. First and last time!!

Booked the Christmas Fair for 2023 with a few work colleagues! What a lovely evening! Best meal I’ve had for a while! 3 course meal for £23.99! The staff were so lovely and amazing! Making us feel welcome and service was brilliant! Food served and present perfect!! A great way to start the Christmas season!

Really friendly helpful staff. Visited with our camper van and they allowed us to stay for free on their carpark. Lovely atmosphere with roaring fire. We wanted food but the kitchen isn't open on a Monday. They suggested we order a take away and have it delivered to the pub. Great service. Will be going back.

There is always good food here, prices are very reasonable and when I come here it's always busy as a consequence. I had chicken strips & BBQ sauce followed by beef Stroganoff which were very tasty and filling. Service is really prompt and the staff are lovely.

5 stars across the board!! I don't think I've ever been able to do that! What a gorgeous place! I booked a table for 17 on Sunday for a special family gathering. The food came out promptly and it was all absolutely beautiful!! The staff were so friendly and the atmosphere was great! Will definitely be coming back <3 xx

Had the Sunday dinner, veg were the too hard healthy option which nobody likes, the rest of the meal was just ok, didnt have much taste, this place also likes to hike up the prices with optional extras that most people will order anyway, I dont agree with this, it should be in with the meal. Come see for your self and support your local pubs before they all dissapear.

It was my mother in laws birthday x they brought the cake out for her that I'd brought with me x lit the candles and then took it away to cut it for us x lovely staff very accommodating x
