Meals are superb for any pallet. Good pub grub very reasonably priced and staff go above and beyond. Portions are more than adequate plus *doggy * bags are provided if needed. Definitely worth a visit.

Great food, one of the best in the area

Had our 2nd dinner collected today 1st Sept 2024..i can honestly say 10/10 for the Sunday roast. The beef was thick slices and you didn't need a knife to cut it up, it just fell apart and believe me it's not cheap beef the taste, the smell, was just mouth watering. Same as laSt wk.. We've found our favourite Sunday roast.. HATS OFF TO THE CHEF & STAFF.. THANK YOU SO MUCH.. PAULINE & BILLY.. 😋😊😋😊😋😊

Simply the best Sunday roast I have ever tasted. You can tell it's proper expensive beef, the taste, it just fell apart. My old man had chicken and it was cooked to perfection moist and juicy. Used to eat there yrs ago but I'm Housebound due to disibility but he collected the Dinners. Roll on next week. THANK YOU THANK YOU.. YOU'VE MADE A OLD COUPLE VERY HAPPY..

Decent pub food at a reasonable price, staff were pleasant. Not much atmosphere but it was very early evening. Potholes at the entrance to the car park could do with some attention.

Lovely menu, with a nice range. A good vegetarian section and cheaper lunch time prices. The service was very quick and food was out in 10 mins. Hearty good quality portions at a low price.

There is nothing more satisfying than a Nice Meal with a View. We enjoyed Our Repast as We Always DO. Cooked to Perfection & Served with a Smile. A Short trip from home - Less than Four Mile. 'Ne'er Cast a Clout 'til May's Out', is the warning each year. But we Sat Outside in the Sun & Cool Breeze: ME On a Bigger Chair! 😉

Lovely place for a catch up, good meals at the right price

Quite expensive for very average food.

On our visit for a family meal, the food was great & welcoming atmosphere, all of the family enjoyed their meals. Very well priced and we were also there for the early bird deal. I had a roast dinner & it was beautiful.

We eat here at least once a week The food is impeccable and deffo a welcome local place for the perfect steak that won't break the bank

Collected 2 pork dinner's, they were beautiful. Friendly staff, and looks like a nice pub.

Easter Sunday and they were busy, also lots of take out people dropping in and out. We had been out walking the dog and called on the off chance. They found a table for a couple and dog no problem. Our beef dinners arrived quickly and were delicious and filling, extra gravy offered. Boiled and roast potato (so if you prefer mash be warned) ,4 vegetables yorkshire Pud loads of beef. Thank you Top House.

hi I have been looking forward to eating at your establishment for such a long time . my step daughter had mentioned how good it is . she decided to surprise and take me m we came today ordered drinks followed by our food order, drinks came promptly with a lovely waitress couldn't help enough.we ended up waiting 45 minutes for our food after reminding the manager how we were still waiting a further 10 minutes out comes our mains . my step daughter cut into her chicken and it was pink . From here went totally downhill we informed your manager who was so rude plz check your cameras . watch all body language at our table it was an absolute disgrace was made to feel like we were to blame . I also came back in to spk to the owner and make a complaint I was informed there was no one available...plz could somebody rectify this issue as its unacceptable!!

Top House top spot, enjoyed a fantastic meal here with a drink. The four girls where great serving and chatting, worth anothet visit soon. Recommend every dish.

Had a lush Sunday dinner at Top House!! – the place is cozy and warm. The meat was beautiful and the portions were spot-on. The background music was nice and not too loud. Even though we booked last minute, they managed to squeeze us in and the the staff were absolutely lovely, making the whole experience just fantastic. I highly recommend Top House for a delicious and stress-free dining experience!

Met few friends for our Christmas meal food was delicious traditional Christmas turkey was cooked beautifully service was really good, friendly staff .

Can't comment on the food as we've not tried it yet. Did notice a couple of vegetarian options on the menu so we may be back to sample those! Decent G&T, was actually able to just order gin without it being a funky flavour or a super posh variety. And top marks for being dog friendly. Ethel said kudos for having carpet to lie out on!

Lovely Saturday lunch, hot tasty and homemade 😋

This inn is on the east side of A688 opposite a large garage. Parking at the side of the inn is limited to about a dozen cars. Booking is recommended if you want a midday lunch. My friends and I were booked in for 1.45pm. When we arrived there was no table available but a waiter soon cleared a table for us. We ordered drinks at the bar and we were given a small ticket which was our bill number. A table was available before our drinks orderc was completed. After we sat at our table a waiter took our food order. We all ordered a chicken Sunday lunch. We were surprised how quickly we received our food. It was not a carvery. The Yorkshire pudding and chicken were covered by a thick, tasty brown gravy. There was a large spoonful of about five vegetables. Nobody asked for a dessert.

Spot on can't fault the food for the price and great service.

Nice food except for gluten free option.Lady was ill half an hour after food.We were charged for deserts for another table and the waitress never cracked a smile

We were popping across to Bishop and decided to stop off on the way home for lunch, haven't been to Bishop in a while so after reading some reviews of Top House and a very nearby similar venue, we plumped for here, basically on price,as the other establishment was expensive for a pub. Anyway for was delicious, served promptly with a smile, we had the Steak pie and the Top house burger after seeing my partner's Pie arrive I wish I had ordered it, as I nearly did, the meat was tender and plentiful, it just came with Suet lid but was apparently delicious. We were late arriving so squeezing a desert in was a push, they sounded nice but we passed, anyway all in all a very nice last minute lunch. The premises is old and " rustic" but clean and comfortable. Highly recommend.

First time here and was unreal food. Tasty and just spot on. I had mix grill and My partner had ribeye stake was cooked perfectly and the staff are attentive and nothing's too much will definatly be back 😁

Beautiful home cooked food, friendly and insightful staff. We had fillet surf and turf with garlic butter and king prawns. The steak was a cooked to perfection as was the mixed grill.

Went here for Sunday lunch whilst visiting family in the area, sat in the conservatory, very busy which is always a good sign, food came quickly, massive portions, friendly and attentive staff, good value for money, happy family all round!!

Came for the Christmas Fayre menu with my work colleagues in December 2022 but haven’t had chance to write the review until now. The food was very disappointing in fact I thought the dinner was disgusting the vegetables were disgusting and tasted cheap only one pig in blanket which were burnt for everybody on our table. No thought has been put into the menu it was the same as the previous years. No fish option unless you went on an evening so I was forced to eat meat so I didn’t miss out on the meal as the vegetarian starter and main meal were mushrooms and I hate mushrooms. The desert was none existent supposed to be chocolate fudge cake there was the thinnest piece they could have cut hardly any cake on the plate and all just sauce it may as well had been a plate full of sauce. The broth for starter had no taste and again meat in it most other places do a vegetarian soup so you at least have some sort of choice. Not worth the money at all!!

Wonderful food, (proper pub grub!!). We had 3 courses and were so full afterwards. For starter we had the combo for 2 and it had a great selection of different bits but I would say that 3 people could share it. Unfortunately when we asked the waitress what was on it she had no idea and said she only knew that hallumi was on it but it wasn’t on the dish when it arrived. Both had a delicious lasagne for main however the only downfall was the peas were frozen. Jam roly polly for dessert was unreal!!! Great value for money and huge portions. The barman ( who i think was called callum??) was very friendly and wished us a good holiday. Will definitely be returning!!

First time visited tophouse for Sunday lunch . Definitely the beat Sunday lunch I've ever had ,only thing negative about it was my missus likes mash potato and there wasn't any , we will definitely be going back again though , I would definitely recommend this place to anyone 👌

When you're nearly 73 'n still Drumming in a Band. After a Three Hour Rehearsal, once set up 'n then re-packed the Kit, single Hand. The knowledge that at 'The Top House', a meal awaits for Her 'n Me. So much easier to call in and be served than preparing Our Own Tea. A Friendly , Efficient Staff, serve Perfectly Presented Food. It is at times like this ; One is Grateful that Other's, are in the Cooking Mood. Now ; relaxed at home, no dishes to wash, just a Nice Cup of Tea. Bland overdone meat. The mixed grill is definately not worth over £16. Was in the area visiting and came here as it had 4.7 star rating but would not advise coming here if you're visiting. On a possitive, the staff were kind and friendly

Absolutely packed when we visited and not surprised. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. Prices are very reasonable. All in all I am recommending this place to everyone. We'll definitely be going back. After all, it'll take a while to try the entire menu. Go on, give it a try. You'll not be disappointed.

Paid £8 for the lunchtime hot beef bun, chips and gravy. I was extremely disappointed with what I was served. A cheap, paper thin bread bun, 1, yes 1 slice of beef, served with average fries! I know times are hard at the moment. But for what was served, it was barely worth a fiver never mind £8.

We had a lovely roast beef dinner. Great food and great service. Highly recommend

Called in last minute on Saturday evening. The staff were friendly and efficient. We had 3 different main courses each of which was very good and all 3 were good vfm. Will definitely call in again if in the area.

I visited the Top house pub whilst visiting family. We had a table for 8. We had a friendly welcome and sat down. Staff swiftly took our drinks order which was served promptly. The menu had plenty of choice from T bone steak to corned beef pie. I had liver served in a large Yorkshire pudding with fresh vegetables. Everyone enjoyed their meals which were cooked beautifully. I fully recommend eating here, the specials were around £8 and the drinks were a fair price.

Had a meal on 26th March. Not been here for a very long time. Staff were brilliant but sorry to say food could of been abit better.

Having booked a family birthday surprise, which was very well catered for by the staff who were very polite and attentive throughout the meal. All the meals and desserts where very good value. The drinks were draft bear limited but I understand sale beer volume...

Can't fault it food was beautiful

Food was average. Prices are average. Hence the average rating! Tables are tiny and chairs pretty uncomfortable. Waiting staff kept us waiting for about 20mins after we had all finished, then took 15mins to bring a dessert menu. Staff were very kind and nice though!

Superb service despite one very large but well behaved table. Very extensive and varied menu. Food wonderfully cooked and presented. Truly wonderful value for money. Absolutely faultless and highly recommended.
