Amazing night, celebrating my birthday 🎂 at "Six" Food very tasty had 6 courses and it was enough for us to feel full at the end of the night. Charlotte and Daisy were looking after us tonight. Service is great very approachable providing great information about each dish. We've had wine and "Negroni" everything was perfect. Will definitely be back when have a chance. Can recommend anyone looking for a memorable night to go out and celebrate in such a special place!

We had the Sunday Lunch 2 courses for £38 each it was served warm the roast potatoes were rock hard and the Yorkshire pudding was like carboard also a lot of fat on the beef, any chef serving roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding like this has no pride in their work the staff were apologetic but we were still charged full amount we didn't make a fuss as we had looked forward to the day , would we go back Definitely not for food but probably for drinks Very Dissapointed .

Fun evening but disappointed with limited aspects of the menu. We all chose the 6 course menu at £65 per head but were frustrated that many of our preferred choices (with asterisks) were reserved for the 9 course taster menu - I think the aim was to encourage diners to opt for the 9 course option. It really wasn't made clear to us Instead of what I ordered for one of the courses I got bread and butter - I explained I hadn't ordered bread but that I'd ordered a beetroot tart as one of my choices I was told everyone has bread!! I didn't get the beetroot tart! I wouldn't really call one slice of bread and butter a 'course' So I would say it's more like a 4 course taster menu as 3 chocolates (petit fours) were offered as the final course. The staff were attentive although we did have to ask for more water three times. The food was beautifully presented but as said not a great deal of choice ( I'm vegetarian and the only option for one of the courses was celeriac linguini I really don't like celeriac! The views were lovely and it was a fun evening with friends but be prepared that for £65 you won't get a great deal of choice and it is a little misleading the way the menu is presented

This was quite a disappointing visit. We had a friendly welcome & shown into the bar where we had booked a table for two. Food was very poor value for money - small portions & service was well below average. Certainly wouldn't recommend it.

Family wedding celebration so we hired the viewing gallery on floor 5 and we were served 6 courses from the Six restaurant above. The food and staff were amazing. Views were fantastic too. Could not recommend highly enough. Paddy and his team are just amazing. Special thanks to Naomi who looked after us all night.

This restaurant has fantastic views across the city, particularly at night. Such a great location makes the experience worth it without being served delicious food. Portions are small but full of flavour which has clearly been prioritised. I had three vegan courses which were lovely; flaxseed crackers with sweet beetroot; grilled mushrooms and chicory with loads of spices in a marinade which I combined with a side of rosemary potatoes (very yummy). The chocolate mousse with raspberries, pistachios and cinder toffee actually belongs in heaven it was so good. All our party loved the food and the wine was reportedly good. Service was quite quick but and neither fast or slow. The people were very friendly and attentive. Although expensive, this restaurant is certainly worth visiting for a special occasion, I'd highly recommend coming here.

Roof top restaurant on top of the Baltic gallery in Newcastle/ Gateshead. We had the early evening menu which was excellent value at £20 for two courses. Food was of a high standard. The service was attentive but not intrusive. I have a food intolerance and I was presented with a menu where the dishes that contained that ingredient had been clearly identified for me. I really appreciated the care that had been taken. It's a small restaurant so I would recommend booking in advance. Overall an excellent experience.

Me and the better half were having a well earned night away from the kids and are so happy we chose to spend it at 6 at the Baltic. The food was amazing (I had the Lamb) really interesting flavours and cooked to perfection, Mrs D had the Cod and said it was the best she’d tasted. Excellent desserts and a good wine list to boot. We’d definitely be returning here for any future celebrations. Keep up the good work team!

I took my niece here for her 50th Birthday. The food was extremely good, but very small portions, which makes it expensive. The staff are friendly, pleasant and knowledgeable about the food. The restaurant wasn't too busy and it was quite cold, fan heaters were dotted about and I had to turn the one nearest to me in my direction just to keep warm. I'm not good with heights so the glass lift on the outside of the window wasn't great. I had to use the disabled toilet as I couldn't use the mainstream toilet due to that also being a huge glass wall. I asked the staff if there was another way out and they kindly took me down in the service lift that wasn't glass or on the outside. Due to my problem with heights I doubt I will be returning.

The staff were were attentive with the drinks and my partner enjoyed a complimentary petit fours dessert for his birthday,

I have eaten here on a number of occasions, and the fact that I have gone back probably tells you all you need to know, but I shall, nevertheless, add a few thoughts. This restaurant is situated on the top floor of the Baltic Art Gallery so, if you like artistic installations (I don't) you can combine culinary and cultural pleasures. The food is good value for money and always of a high standard; you would pay much more for these sorts of dishes in London. The menu is slightly limited but, having said that, offers a good choice. The staff are friendly and helpful to an extraordinary degree The views from the dining area on a long summer's evening over the Tyne and one of Britain's finest cities is unforgettable. So, do I entertain any reservations? Well, yes, but it's not one by any means restricted to the Baltic 6, and it is the general level of noise that diners now generate. Have we forgotten how to conduct ourselves in public? Now although, let me be clear, this problem is not unique to the Baltic 6 it is one not helped by the abundance of 'hard' surfaces that act as something of an echo chamber. A few soft furnishings, drapes or similar might help. Just a thought if the management read this.

I was disappointed on arriving to my seat as I specifically asked for a window seat on the Newcastle side as I know from previous time's visiting the restaurant the views are spectacular. After quietly having a word with the management we were moved when the next available seats became available I found it hard to understand how there was a mix up in my booking as I changed available dates which I wanted just to get next to the window. Apart from this misunderstanding I can't fault the restaurant it's first class spectacular views and the food is amazing and compared to other restaurants very well priced.

Visited Six with my dad over the weekend and I definitely came away feeling satisfied. The setting on top of The Baltic is without a doubt one of the best views in the city. The service was excellent and the food was good. Although my overall experience was fantastic, in my opinion, Six definitely isn't fulfilling its potential. The menu choices are relatively safe and unlike the contemporary art that lies below the restaurant, there didn't seem to be any urgency for experimentation or the desire to push any boundaries. Don't get me wrong, the food is good. Really good. However, if you're expecting gastronomical greatness on par with the likes of Peace & Loaf and House of Tides, you'll leave slightly disappointed.Nonetheless, the hand dived scallops were excellent, the braised beef was filling and the dessert was satisfactory. If you go to Six you definitely won't be disappointed. The experience itself is fantastic, however the food, although good, just needs to push the boundaries a bit more and be a bit less conventional.

Arriving without a booking we were able to get a table, it was lunch time during the week. I really liked the menu, a lot of thought had gone into it. Staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful. I had had serious jaw surgery earlier in the week so had to be a bit careful with what I chose to eat. Anyway no problem there. The food served was beautifully presented, prepared and very tasty. The wine was well chosen, I had a Rioja it was just right.I would have no hesitation to eat here again, good atmosphere, great place to bring people.

Fine dining here, and you're treated to beautiful panoramic views across the river. The staff were brilliant, very smartly dressed and only too happy to help. Couldn't fault them. The food is wonderful, from presentation to flavours...it all works. I had the salad to start, the pork loin for a main and a very rich creme brulee for dessert. Couldn't fault them. Top tip if you're still hungry and are used to larger portions (trust me, you'll be full enough after three courses): ask for a side. The side dishes are substantial and filling in their own right. The cocktail I had was fruity but not too overpowering, so a winning combo for me.Only slight critique is that even though most of the restaurant was spotleasly clean, there was one table with a prominent, grubby tea stain that the waitresses failed to wipe off. Don't let this take away from what was a brilliant dining experience though :-)

We booked this restaurant based on a recommendation from a friend. It was for a birthday so was prepared to spend a little more than normal. All courses were beautifully prepared and served. I have no faults with the quality of the food and service. The only slight issue was that the main course took slightly too long to arrive after our starter but it was not unreasonable and didn't spoil the night. The restaurant was a bit on the cool side temperature wise but again, these are small points and didn't spoil our evening. I would recommend to a friend.

We returned here with £50 of vouchers in our back pocket after a pretty shoddy showing last time we were here. We decided to return and spend them using the early bird menu as we were going to the theatre. I'm a huge fan of Cafe21 in Newcastle and haven't really found anywhere with the same atmosphere, food quality or service but I stand corrected. The waitress was both courteous, prompt, efficient and answered all of our questions about the food and drinks with confidence and with a sense of humour. I hate robotic waiters/waitresses and they weren't so all good. The views are fantastic we were lucky to get a seat on the Newcastle side (nowt to see on Gateshead side!) and it was a lovely day too. Thumbs up and we will defo go back having unglued ourselves from 21!I would defo recommend the restaurant, drinks a bit pricey but then it's a posh gaff or tries to be. Food excellent, delicious and contemporary but not too posh you can't make head or tail what it's supposed to be (waitress helps!).

After an excellent visit to Six, I feel compelled to show my appreciation. We booked well in advance as you can only expect in this level of restaurant, and were rewarded with this choice.Lovely food, good service and stunning views all playing a part in what I can only summarise as a successful evening! The small, personalised touches from the team at Six for our party clearly show the interest taken in providing a high level experience for its customer, something I feel on a peak weekend at Easter should really be applauded. My final comment is to note that I feel through reading prior reviews, that Six appears to have been set some very lofty expectations because of its previous successes, outstanding location and price point for fine dining. My observation here is that with Six, you achieve outstanding food (to which rivals any of the London restaurants I have visited), but what's more you also receive outstanding service and unrivalled views / location, something you often don't get in the high end restaurants I have visited. It is worth considering that in London (or most other cities), you would pay far more, for probably a lesser experience.Well done to Six and thank you for hosting our large group.Ps; The wine selection, distribution of, and temperature was outstanding for all of you wine lovers out there, often a rarity in modern restaurants these days.

I booked two weeks in advance requesting a table by the window because it was my partners birthday and wanted something special however we were seated in the middle of the restaurant which was very disappointing.Despite this, we enjoyed the meal and the waitress serving us was very nice. The food was excellent and our experience in the restaurant was great. After we'd finished our meal, we asked if we could move on to the bar so we could appreciate the views we had been looking forward to. However, once we took our seats in the bar it felt as if we were completely forgotten about. Firstly, after a wait of around ten minutes I had to stop a passing waitress to ask for a drinks menu. After another 10 to 15 minute wait we again had to stop another waitress to order our drinks. Understandable, if the restaurant seemed unusually busy however this didn't seem the case. Finally, our order arrived however one of our drinks was missing and it took a further 10 to 15 minutes to get the second one (surprising considering it was only a glass of wine).Because of the awful service here, we decided to finish our evening in a different venue. I asked for the bill and when I was ready to pay, it was clear no one was going to take it off my hands, so, sick of waiting I took my bill to the bar and paid there. The waiter who took my payment made no effort to engage pleasantly and I really did not feel as if we were in a fine dining establishment. Certainty not the kind of experience I was expecting after a lovely meal in the restaurant itself. Don't think I would rush back, and will most definitely skip the bar next time!

Eaten here several times over the past few years with my wife and its never let us down. Best location in newcastle in my opinion with the stunning views across the city, if your lucky enough to get a window seat on a nice evening overlooking the river you get to witness the bridge lighting up as the light fades which is always a beautiful sight. Unrivalled by any other restaurant in Newcastle really. Atmosphere is always good, a nice buzz. Staff always very attentive and the food is always divine. We were initially very hesitant about visiting the place several years ago as we thought it may be a bit too pretentious and not very welcoming, how wrong we were and so glad we tried it now. Only very minor down point is that our last visit we ended up having to leave to try somewhere else purely because the seasonal menu didn't have anything we fancied on it, not really a bad reflection on the restaurant at all, more so our tastebuds at the time and lack of preparation in looking at the menu before visiting. We will definitely be trying again very soon, I think we just tend to prefer the spring/summer menu's for the food selection. But I would still highly recommend it a visit any time of the year.
