Lovely stop for a light lunch and catch up with friends, nice staff and good food

Wouldn’t recommend, certain members of staff are rude! Also overheard the same rude member of staff slagging off another member of staff. Food was of poor quality, tasteless, cold and overpriced.

How come everytime you go their no breakfast items left because been rammed? Dont understand why when they know they’re busy get stocked up not very well informed

I love everything about this cafe, the vibes, service food, everything is simple, yet elegant and spot on, delicious and fresh ingredients, prices are reasonable. The team are smiling and welcoming all the time. Visited few times for breakfast and never been disappointed. Very recommended especially during a morning ride, for a well deserved break ;)

Pleasant clean café with wonderful views of river. Excellent coffee and good variety of snacks. Busy but welcoming Muffin and coffee,both excellent. Thanks Excellent service by very pleasant efficient staff. Scones were heavy,but coffee was good. Toasted tea cake and latte. Excellent. Followed later by panine. Again excellent.

Lovely café on the riverside, with very friendly staff and plenty of intolerance-friendly options. Also has some lovely gifts. Worth going out of your way to come, and we went for a stroll along the river

Scone was stale. Only marmalade was avaliable, no jam. Paid for cheese on eggy bread, but didn't get any. Prices were higher than in London.

Incredible cannolis, matcha latte was delicious not too sweet or creamy, beautiful inside, wonderful selection of trinkets and things to buy and some great vegan bakery options.

Rest in peace to love, I gave up a long time ago... At least the Staiths Cafe Chai Lattes give me the warm fuzzy feeling inside. The closest I can get. I rely on this place for all things good!

At first I thought it was a little on the pricey side (10.50) for a full English but once I tucked in I realised it was money well spent. Top quality ingredients washed down with a great cup of tea. Deffo going back. Edit* to warrant the extra star a notice advising what the ordering procedure is on entrance would be nice and something notifying customers about the conservatory area being available would be great. Apologies if these are already in place but my LD vision isn't the greatest. Keep doing what you're doing though 👌

Lovely little place, food is fab, service is great

Ordered poached eggs on sourdough. With some bacon. Food OK but poached eggs were like cannon balls. Fed this back to the serving team. Will see what next visit is like. Shame it's always been ok good bait stop when out cycling. Hope this was a one off but time will tell.

Nice cafe. I was disappointed with my breakfast, my beans were so dry up it resembled mussy peas but red, my bacon was the same, my sausage was a little under cooked for my liking & my toast was warmed up bread (No colour) my black pudding was also very dry. I hope I remember not to come back. Also a dirty table, I'm glad I had my baby wipes on me. And it wasnt hot.

Love this place & the location is perfect

The cafe has great views if you manage to grab a table in outdoor area but overall quite overrated. Service was chaos when I visited, which understandably happens at times. So I (along with half dozen other customers) waited patiently for our drinks (after queuing close to 10mins to order) while the staff simultaneously tried to sort out kitchen backlogs and front of the house issues with little success. After 12 mins of waiting in front of the drinks counter (you have to pick up your drinks separately) I received a barely lukewarm coffee with atleast 8 people still queued after me. I chose not to return the coffee as I had run out of patience by then. I then waited at my table for a further 20 mins for the food. The food was good, fresh ingredients and served warm. However it took another 5 mins to source the salt and pepper as staff had eyes for no one but their own back of the kitchen issues. Frankly I was relieved in the end to have finished my meal and walked out of there. I wanted to try their cakes on display (they looked lush) but decided not to push my luck. I wasn't ready for another round of endless queuing with repeatedly being told 'it's a busy time for us'!

I love this cafe it's one of my favourite place to come and chill out. I love to read and it's a fab to get really stuck into a good book.

Very popular. Expect a queue, but you won't be disappointed. Staff are amazing. Always with a smile. The fact that it's not only dog friendly but dog accommodating too gives it an 11/10

Great little cafe with excellent food

A great place to have a coffee/tea and enjoy the sunshine where it’s sunny. Prices are also reasonable but the view is amazing.

Great cafe. Good prices, and there is a vegan menu 💚. I paid £7 for the sandwich in the photo, which is the falafel, vegan cheese, and chutney sandwich.

Sadly dog owners spoil our enjoyment by allowing their dogs onto the seats and hence their faces at table height, yuck. The food was great, decent price and the staff really nice but I don't own a dog and have a severe pet allergy so dislike dogs being allowed in an eating environment, shame they can't keep the animals outside.

What a gem! Everything about this place felt right - atmosphere, staff, food and the view. Stumbled on it by chance whilst checking out the staithes. Its a bit if a trek from Cumbria but we’ll be back. Loved the little touches like free coffees for those less fortunate or in need of cheering up.

really long wait for a coffee ... 15 minutes standing at counter, bizarre passive aggressive behaviour of person making coffee, challenged at the table in front of other people by supervisor about MY behaviour. patiently explained nature of my experience, received a watchfully passive aggressive "OK" ... very odd

Came almost a year ago and I have to say I need to make this a weekly spot. I’ve been a few times in the past 6 or so years and it just keeps getting better. My table was right next to the till and I was just hearing the staff constantly keeping up banter with the customers even though they had a long line to make their wait more pleasant. As soon as I went up to the till to order I was having a laugh with the staff who served me. Didn’t take any photos but had an iced toffee nut latte and a sausage & egg sandwich which were both out of this world. Amazing atmosphere, amazing food, amazing people! ❤️

Have only ever had breakfast and coffee here, but can thoroughly recommend. Service is great, staff are friendly, tasty coffee and the porridge (with superfood topping) is AMAZING!!

Always a super busy cafe but worth it! I love most of the menu and especially the lotus biscoff rocky road. They have some shelved home items for sale as well like milk, hummus, and more. Also has hand made items like candles, prints, and earrings.

Overrated... The only draw is the interesting location.

Visited today with my wife. The cafe had a dirty feel to it and the poached eggs tasted like they had been pre cooked off beans were ice cold and the bacon is value at best. View was nice

It's a lovely oasis on the banks of the Tyne, with great food although when busy the service does suffer a bit, it's generally worth the wait. If you do want to go here during your lunch hour, it might be worth phoning your order in advance.

first visit with a mate who said he 'knew a good cafe' - he's not wrong. we only had coffees but the menus looked enticing and inclusive - I'll be back for food soon. great location on the river with brilliant staff and a great vibe overall. very busy for a tuesday morning which says it all. having experience in the indie cafe/bar/restaurant sector in a previous life, you can just tell when a place cares and strives to do things 'right'.

Fantastic food staff and atmosphere in a lovely riverside location. Definitely worth a visit whether it's combined with a riverside walk into Newcastle and back or not. Always an enjoyable experience. Thankyou always appreciated always recommended 💕

This is definitely my favourite cafe in Gateshead and perhaps even my favourite informal dining in the North East. Wonderful location and excellent coffee. I have now enjoyed both breakfasts and lunches here and it does not disappoint. Great bistro style cafe on the banks of the Tyne. Excellent location with an excellent no fuss cafe serving varied food and decent coffee. Prices are around average for this type of cafe. I rated this high when I first visited 2 years ago and it is good to see that it has weathered the pandemic and is still delivering a good cafe experience.

This place was recommended by a friend, and now I know why. It was very busy at 12:30, as you would expect, but the staff still had time for a smile and enquired if I was out for a walk etc. The service was very efficient and friendly. I am vegan and had my dog with me and we were both made very welcome. I shall return :-)

Won’t rush back cold and long wait also wrong toast We ordered 2 full English with sour dough and white toast After 35mins I had to check where food was. I could see 2 sitting on bench at back, they confirmed ours They brought them to our table with one sour dough one brown toast??? It was as expected only just warm, the hash browns were stone cold so uneatable. We told the chap who said he could take them back and redo however we did not have time to wait again He offered a cake but neither of us eat cake so not accepted £19.00 wasted

Knowing I have a cane corso amd anxiety it's hard to find a cafe that can accommodate as, I know i jabe a large dog that people can be scared of I love this cafe the food is amazing never disappointed, they do pup cups for dogs they are not judgmental of any breeds all the staff are super friendly and have excellent customer service, will continue to use my local cafe as I love it so much Zeus says thank you for his pup cup today

Food and drinks here have always been lovely. Food is served quickly and with precision too. The staff are attentive and just wonderful. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Dog friendly and great view, what more can u ask for ❤️ The only tiny downside here is the parking, especially on the weekends. So try to avoid peak hours if u can.

Fantastic experience - arranged a brilliant surprise birthday party with help from Staiths cafe staff. Catering was just right, service was attentive but not overbearing. Spot on. Before the event had a couple of brilliant meetings to work out the details - there was a real sense of care and thoughtfulness with this, and every other part of the event. Cannot recommend highly enough as a venue.

Great food and service in the cafe, but they have a habit of rejecting orders on JustEast, which is frustrating as you don't get a notification, only an email. If you can't fulfil orders, you should go offline on the app.

brilliantly situated but the exorbitant price of the food on the menu is extremely offputting. We have never before and never will again pay the over inflated price for toasties.

Nice cafe with plenty vegan options including vegan flapjack (yum), coffee is one the best around too with oat milk. Only thing to watch out for is the butter supplied with the bread as part of vegan English breakfast contains milk so ensure you don’t use that if you don’t do dairy.

Excellent coffee, food and cakes but the building ,albeit very attractive ,needs serious attention in the ventilation area. Today we went in at 3.30pm and the smell of cooking, steamed up windows and lack of fresh air was overpowering. There also seemed to be quite a few tables upstairs which looked like breakfast plates were still hanging around. Just a few tweaks needed to sort this out.

Dog friendly cafe that does a decent brew. Service can be slow at peak hours especially given how many heads can be accommodated. Cool outdoor balcony with great view of Tyne! Small punchy if a bit overpriced.

Traveled from Hartlepool to visit The Staiths Cafe , what a great place, ten out of ten for food, value, staff, thanks from four happy eaters !!!

I have been coming here for a few years now, I absolutely should have posted a review much sooner … this is an exceptional cafe/bistro/destination, I cannot recommend it enough. An independent business which retains a sense of fun (check out the kids menu), the staff are real people, with broad smiles and truly engaging personalities, the menu is superb, quality ingredients, fantastic cakes/traybakes and some genuine flare and imagination to be found, plus excellent coffee … this is how an independent cafe should be, vibrant and individual with a tangible buzz from the moment you enter. Thanks for doing what you do and doing it so incredibly well!

Just called in whilst out for a walk, seems to be very popular and busy at the time I was there, worth checking it out.

Really good food, good service, decent prices. Needs an extension, there wasn't enough tables in the lunch hour rush.

Just paid £30+ for a cold full English, cold eggy sourdough covered in burnt bits off the griddle with a side of rotten avocado and rock hard bacon. The same server passed us with our food 3 times even though our table number was clearly on show and I actually told her it was probably ours the first time she passed. When we finally got our food we then had to wait for sauces (pre ordered with our food) and cutlery - this took two trips for some reason. The tables are also filthy, like the type of dirt that's sticky because its been there a while. Give your griddle and tables a good clean daily/inbetween service and when customers are ordering ask which area they're sitting, for example upstairs, downstairs or on the terrace and have a cutlery/sauce station for customers to get what they need after they order. Oh and don't serve rotten food. I know a Saturday morning will be very busy for you guys but there is absolutely no excuse for how bad our experience was today. It's also not the first time we've been left disappointed after visiting. Do better!!!

Popped on here on a whim. Popular place and nice staff. I'd say only the parking is an issue. But next time we plan to park further along the Tyne and walk along.

The quiet riverside cafe!!!! Be careful it will close a bit early. But the atmosphere was so nice and calm:) it's also dog friendly and you can find a gift of Newcasle there as well.

Cute little cafe. I’d never been before but the staff were so friendly and polite. It was not long after it had opened but was already busy so that shows how nice it is. There’s not loads of seating but there is an upstairs. Parking wasn’t too bad either. Food was lovely and reasonably priced too and it’s nice that it’s dog friendly.

I've been coming to this cafe for years and has always been good service and nice food but unfortunately my last 2 visits haven't gone so well. One visit we were served incorrect food, the way it was handled was very unprofessional. Also the food was not to the standard I usually receive, over done bacon with cold chicken and cold brie (this was a toastie) my 2nd visit again the bacon was almost none existant and what was there was burnt, while the chicken and brie cold. I did asked for this to be re done but for certain the replacement was the original just put back on toastie maker. The staff are also happy to discuss at the till all the faults with the business and how unhappy they are with hours ect in my opinion young staff with no care for the business bar the pay check they receive. Compareing this with my experience with the Riverside bakery in Hamsterly is night and day, the food, staff and atmosphere are unbelievable and have never wavered in all my visits. Unfortunately this will be my last trip to Staithes but I do hope things improve

Delicious food, fantastic service. A couple on the table next to me complained about the food and rudley demanded their money back after eating everything! The staff delt with it in a polite manner, personally I would have told them to jump. Who complains about food after eating it all, what a joke.

Delicious! Great find on a rainy day. Only downside...they don't take cash. Cash is legal tender and I would very much like to keep it so.
