Savannah is full of food that I will crave until I have it again. I did not think a banana split would be one of those items. I recommend the traditional. It was one of, if not the best dessert I’ve ever had. The details are incredible. This is not some novelty location with an assumed following from tenure. It’s an establishment that strives to represent its craft to the fullest. Wait in line. It’s worth it.

This legendary ice cream shop has been around since 1919! It is a hidden treasure. They still make and feature some of their original 1919 recipes. So delicious!

Leopold's has captured the idea of an experience and served it up in a way that fits in perfectly with the River Street/historic vibe.

I had the most delicious coconut ice cream here, but ALL their flavors are fantastic.

Leopold’s is incredible! We went twice within 24 hours. The server Hannah recommended lemon custard the first time we went and provided many free samples for us to try. She was a sweetheart and made the experience memorable. All the ice cream flavors taste authentic, fresh and they have so many options including certain flavors for lactose intolerant and gluten free community. I had butter pecan, Savannah socialite and lemon custard. My favorite was the lemon custard and my partner’s favorite was the Savannah socialite. Prices are affordable and the interior decor was cutesy and vintage! This is a must see venue for tourists visiting Savannah!

I visited this place because of its long history and reputation, but it was a huge disappointment. The staff were incredibly arrogant and unfriendly. No greeting, no smile, and showing no interest in assisting customers. I came all the way for this — definitely not worth it and rarely leave bad reviews, but this level of disrespect was unacceptable.

It was absolutely delicious, coffe ice cream is going to captivate you undoubtedly.

Came for the penny press stayed for the ice cream!

We only had to wait in line a very short amount of time. And I think it was because people were asking for samples. But we were inside during that wait so it didn't seem long at all. The staff was pleasant enough and provided samples when requested. There were several unusual and different flavors to choose from. There is very limited inside seating but we were able to find a place to sit outside. But there were only about 6 tables outside. An employee did come outside and visited with people at several of the tables including us. They were very nice and explained many of the items on the menu. It was a little more pricey than buying ice cream at the store. But that's not unusual today. It was $17 for 2 of us. A single scoop cone and a double scoop cup. But we've noticed prices have gone up in our hometown at our favorite ice cream spot as well. I would go back to try other flavors. Cold ice cream on a hot day (or any day) is always good.

Went to Leopold's today and the Ice cream was good. 2 different staff members seemed like they were not happy to be there and were frustrated I asked for two flavors in the small cup (which you can't do). One was frustrated that I said I had already ordered and told the people next to me that they could order. Service with a smile would be nice!

Took my daughter for ice cream, best ice cream I have ever had! Says a lot coming from family that has dairy farmers! So creamy and full of flavor! Daughter had peanut butter choc chip and I had mocha choc chip.

Not the quality I would expect after all of the positive reviews. We chose 2 ice cream flavors, both of which had chocolate chips, and while the ice cream itself was good, the chocolate chips were low quality and waxy. Even Kemps ice cream from the grocery store has better quality chocolate that melts in your mouth. The ice cream here was a disappointment because of that. Also, the mocha ice cream did not taste like coffee, just chocolate.

Waited in a long line, but worth every minute and every penny. Phenomenal ice cream. Great customer service. Timeless environment.

I know there might be line but well worth the wait… simply amazing

Not everyone is an ice cream aficionado but if you are, you’ll love this place. The people getting the frozen treats are super friendly. In our party we had a hot fudge sundae, a super thick and rich shake, a Coke float, a single, a double and a wide variety of flavors. All of it was amazing.

Though there was a long wait but it was worth it. The tutti frutti and lavender icecream were amongst the best ice creams that I ever had. The scoop size is quite big.

You can't visit Savannah and skip Leopold's. From the nostalgic "soda shop" set up to the unique flavors, its an experience you don't want to miss! Expect to wait in line, though. And maybe don't expect to find a seat. I enjoyed mine on the walk back to my hotel.

Great ice cream with extraordinary flavors

The only thing not great about Leopold's is the wait. I have only been here twice, and both times it was about a half an hour wait. Leopold's is one of those must-do things when you visit Savannah. There is all kinds of memorabilia, including a juke box, phone booth, and an array of movie posters. The ice cream is, of course, also really good. Definitely worth a visit at least once.

The chocolate chip coffee flavor was creamy and tasted like strong rich coffee. The place is clean we waited 30 minutes in line outside, it was hot but Javon a very pleasant friendly employee came out with a tray full of glasses with nice ice cold water for everyone. The staff inside was not friendly didn’t smile they were on the slow side and only one cash register is a problem with ad many people as they process. Overall wonderful place

Ice cream was good, not really sure why to make lines for ice cream ok, tried many other places and this was just ok good ice cream, not worth if you need to make a 20min line. Just my opinion.

The Best! If your an ice cream foodie, don't get your regular flavor. Instead try one of their originals. The lemon custard was amazing. And Javon who works there was a blast. Walking around and making everyone smile. The ice cream and atmosphere are unmatched!

A Savannah, Gary staple for well over a 100 years has something of the best Ice Cream I have ever had. In spite of a long line, service was fast and friendly. Treat yourself if you visit Savannah, you won't be disappointed.

Serves the best ice cream in the area of Savannah! Has a unique history to the business, the location has been seen in plenty of movies over the years which the decor makes obvious to it's guests. If you're ever in the Savannah area, make sure to stop in and experience Leopold's!

Worth the wait! The best brownie sundae evva, the brownie is the perfect density. The tutti frutti was a nice surprise to try.

Visiting Savannah and went for the wife. I waited in line for 30+ minutes only to be told to move all the way past the displayed flavors when I got to the front. I tried a sample of rum bisque and hated it, then could not see anything else because the people behind me were pushed up against the glass. I felt like a sheep. It was an extremely uncomfortable experience and not worth the hype.

Easily the best ice cream in the city. I wouldn’t go so far as to call it the greatest ice cream ever, but based on my travels throughout Georgia, this is definitely one of the best I’ve had. Their flavors are pretty great too. The staff is amazing amber tentative. Finally I also had their milk shake and that was also delicious. Worth the wait people! Pro tip: Go on a Tuesday before the lunch rush or around 3 PM. The line may look long, but I only waited about 15 minutes—much quicker than it appears.

Our box lunch was ordered in advance for our Girl Scout troop, and we were all delighted with our meals. I did have some feedback that the bread was a little dry for some of the sandwiches. We had all the orders correct and labeled, delivered to our destination, and then enjoyed the walk over to get our scoop of ice cream. The line was incredibly long for ice cream, but they move quickly. The flavors were delicious, and servings were generous. We thank them for all they do and in providing a great experience for our GS troop. 4/13/25

A traditional old school type of ice cream parlor. Very popular and there is usually a line to get in about a 15 to 20 min wait. The ice cream was very good. If you dine inside then they will give you the ice cream in glassware like an old school parlour. Service was a little slow and could use more staff to serve customers quicker.

I've been busy here and the line was just too long. Tonight after a Mexican dinner, we took a chance and we were glad we did.

The icecream was awesome! We had the vegan vanilla in a hot fudge sundae. It was so good that we braved an even longer line the next night for the vegan strawberry in a waffle cone. Totally worth it, and we appreciated the dairy free options ( adding a few more wouldn't hurt)!

The ice cream here was delicious. Great selection of flavors and items. Especially loved the pineapple/mango/banana flavor. The chocolate was dark and decadent as well. Just be prepared for a long line to stand in, as this place is very popular. Many workers and really fast service. Friendly staff and great hospitality. There's also complimentary water, which is always nice.

I had heard that there’s usually a line here, and sure enough, there was one when I visited. But it was definitely worth the wait! The variety of flavors was impressive, and I’m always on the lookout for butter pecan—this one was absolutely delicious. My husband had the pistachio, and I’d definitely recommend that as well. On a hot day, enjoying ice cream while strolling down the streets of Savannah would be the perfect treat. Highly recommend stopping by!

After 20 years of coming to Savannah. Decided to wait in line. Still was 35 to 40 minutes on a late Sunday evening. The peanut butter ice cream didn't disappoint.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. After spending time in a long line outside, I had their lemon custard ice cream and run bisque ice cream, and didnt care for either. Both were overly sweet, with not much flavor.

This ice cream tastes amazing! If you love nuts in your dessert, definitely try the Tuti Fruti – it’s a must. I absolutely loved it. My friend went for the coconut flavor, which is light and packed with fresh coconut flakes. Highly recommend both!
