Fresh food and amazing service! 5 stars!

So sad for the decline in quality. I am an expert on chips and I was disappointed. My daughter and I go to Frydays every week and I couldn't rate them higher. I know that prices go up, but I would be willing to pay extra money to receive the same quality that was there until the last 2 weeks. Portion size has gone down also and the tea is of inferior quality. Please go back to what you are good at. Personally. I would pay an extra couple of pounds per meal for the quality you had. It was amazing. Please come back

Food very nice and halal, customer service excellent! Had a issue with my order which was a misunderstanding and spoke to the manager.she was very nice, went above and beyond to rectify our order by dropping a new order off. Highly recommend and nicest fish and chips in Shields beats Colemans by far.

Large chips and curry sauce, just what was needed after the Great North Run. Big portion and really nice food. Staff lovely and chatty. Will come.again next year👍

Absolutely gorgeous fish and chips!!! Possibly one of the best I’ve had! We went here today for lunch, we hadn’t been before but we noticed they had some good deals on, we wanted the cod bites and chips but the deal had finished for the day so we shared one small portion of fish and chips which were absolutely gorgeous, the fish was lily white, the batter was light and crunchy and the chips (although slightly anaemic) were all equally delicious, plenty of salt and vinegar too. I’ll definitely be having these fish and chips again, it’s directly opposite South Shields metro station.

I Didn’t get what I ordered, sat and waited but staff just kept walking around. Already paid so they aren’t interested.

Their service can’t be beat. Amazing food and great selection. I come here every time I visit Newcastle. We always get the luxury fish and chips with tea. Absolutely delicious!

The food was amazing, saw the chippy across the road from the bus and metro station, decided to pop in, it is one of the best fish and chips, I have had for a while. Keep up the good work!

This is a nice fish and chips restaurant in the town centre and close to travel links. The counter staff inside are very friendly and informative, and the waiting staff are very efficient and courteous. The meals are quite generous portions and good quality. The fish and chips are good quality, crisp chips and flaky cod with crunchy batter. The quality is high, but we've had better tasting options elsewhere. Perhaps this is due to their choice of potato and fish purchased rather than how they're cooked. The veggie hamburgers are also quite large and good quality, albeit a little dry and needed sauce. The restaurant is in a convenient place, but inside it feels cramped and noisy. The tables are too close together and a clash of noises from the kitchen can often be heard. This is perhaps acceptable for a quick meal, but not somewhere you would want to stay for very long. Seating options outside are limited too. Frydays is a good place to eat, but eating out maybe a better option for those who want a more relaxing meal.

We go here every time we visit South Shields and are never disappointed with the meal, the service or the brilliant music playing while you eat. Absolutely recommend this place and I confidently say they are better than Colmans. Worth you checking out.

Large fish and chips,fish was small and batter tasted like old grease chips were scabby rotten and tasted like the old fish tasted won't be going back absolutely disgusting don't know how these get there good reviews

£7.99 for a small fish and chips - (take-out). - was DEFINITELY SMALL FISH..,- and NOT white and fleshy?! - and chips were rotten

Tried milkshakes and coffee today,Would rate 10/10 for the milkshake but the cappuccino was no different then homemade,The staff taking orders should be kept permanent atleast during busy hours,Found that the billing staff takes order and goes for packaging and other stuff making it difficult for customers to stand in long queues.

Went in to see if the food is halal, turns out: 1. all their menu is halal. 2. The food is DELICIOUS and is honestly some of the best I have had in the UK (tried 8 food items and they all were AMAZING to say the least) 3. the staff is sooooooo friendly and awesome that it made the experience unforgettable. Highly recommend the place and I would give it 10 stars if I can.

Tried this place for the very first time and it was really nice, I've put it off for years and I regret it. The staff were lovely and friendly despite it being busy and the tables were very clean. I got scampi and chips with mushy peas, a slice of bread and a pot of tea for less than £10. I'll definitely be returning the next time I'm down there well worth every penny and I'll be sure to get some photos of the food for the next review.

Lovely fish shop and cafe but people want to keep their noses out of people's business Complaining for a child playing happily. Get a life.

The price was supposed to include bread and butter and mushy peas but came with neither until i reminded him. Also the tea tasted funny.

had a nice meal today we had three people and I had the chicken tikka that was filling , nicely spiced and juicy which was nice . the other two had a oap small fish and chips which looked nicely presented and a good size . we were full from our food that was great as well . we really enjoyed ourselves are pleased to have halal fish and chip shop with nice and can enjoy with family friends . I always recommend this place to anyone who comes to south shields

Husband and I went out of curiosity. We loved it. I got waffle with ice cream and choc sauce... Beautiful. Husband had sausage and chips.... Beautiful. Coffee...was great. Even served with cup and saucer and biscuit. Staff were pleasant and helpful. 10/10. Would recommend 👍🎄❤️

Fantastic family run restaurant, first time visiting for me, family have visited several times and came highly recommended. Couldn't fault a thing. Even the music was fantastic. Vegetarian option available although I opted for a cheese pattie meal. Customer service is the best I've experienced, exceptionally clean will definitely return. Great value for money.

I always love going to Frydays, the staff are wonderful and always make an effort to have a chat/get to know regulars. A lovely family run business. As for the food, I come with friends, and with family and it’s our go to fish and chip shop. The peri peri burger and the peri peri chicken. The chips portions are always so big so I ask for them to put less. I love the range of food in the menu. Value for money on the price too.

There's a lot of fish and chip shops in South Shields but Frydays is the most welcoming restaurant I've ever been to. The service is so friendly, the food is amazing, it's hard to choose from there extensive menu. It's definitely a must place to visit. You can only give it a try but you'll be back .🙂

Best ever chip shop in the north east! Have visited here multiple times with family and friends and each time have received excellent food and service! Family run chippy and owner Shaz always checks to make sure food is great and that we are happy. The fish and chips is the best one in South Shields, also love their burger and my favourite - the fish cake. An absolute gem in our home town of Shields - would recommend to everyone

Great place for quality fish and chips with reasonable prices. The staff are very friendly and this is a great place for those who want Halal fish and chips. They offer tea and bread with butter with the fish and chips which is very filling. Quality ingredients, friendly staff and warm atmosphere.

Went along on spec on a Sunday mid-late afternoon, having seen it listed at the top spot in Newcastle Chronicle's best fish and chips list a few months back, even above Shields' 2 well-known Colman's restaurants. This we had to try, and despite the competition, it didn't disappoint!!! Cod and chips meal is £12.99 and you get mushy peas, bread and butter, tartare sauce and a pot of tea all included so good value for money. Haddock meal was only £1 dearer. Delicious all round and large portions on very appropriate fish-shaped plates. We didnt need to eat again for rest of the evening! They also had some very tempting looking desserts. It wasn't at all busy, which surprised us, (although it was good for us as we had a pram with us) although it got a little busier towards the last hour with people squeezing in an early dinner. Did not explore the whole place, but I think there may have been more seating upstairs. Nice fresh modern decor and friendly and helpful staff too. No specific parking as venue is in a pedestrianised zone, but Oyston Street car park or Asda are only a short walk away, and it's directly opposite the Metro and bus interchange. Be aware, it's not for evening dining though - open 11am til 6pm Mon-Sat and 11am-5pm Sundays. We will definitely be back!

Friday's fish bar is the best fish and chip restaurant in South Shields well worth the visit to anyone who comes to South Shields.

Been going for weeks now and then I got introduced to there deep fried chip butties, WOW what else is there to say, and the service is second to non, very helpful, very friendly, a must try for anyone in south shields.

5 stars. Called in on a busy lunchtime and got seated quickly. Very friendly staff and place was immaculate from the tables to the toilets. Paid 8.99 a head for small cod and chips, including bread and butter, mushy peas/sauce and pot of tea each. They even put batter scraps on the chips. The chips were obviously fresh and plenty on the plate. The fish was very chunky and cooked to perfection, with light crispy batter and a nice wedge of lemon. You could hear the orders being called so everything was cooked fresh but didn’t have to wait long. The waitresses were very efficient at clearing tables without making you feel rushed. Customers were a mixture of families and older couples and everyone seemed happy. The toilet was accessible for wheelchairs. Excellent value and very filling. Would definitely return and it’s really handy just next to the metro station.

The chicken tikka and peri peri chicken was so delicious. I have been ordering from this shop since 2013. Staff is always amazing. Keep it up

Visited here today with my wife and grandson and have to say how impressed we were .The food was excellent especially the fish which was the best we have had in a long time and good value for money. Equally impressive were all the young staff who were very pleasant to us , very cheerful and particularly attentive to our grandson and were a credit to the restaurant. Would highly reccommend

Just been for first time of many to come. First of all the service in here is second to none you can tell the staff are happy to work there it has a really nice atmosphere. The lass serving is lovely the place is spotless and most importantly the food is class. I was in and out of there with my food within 10 mins during dinner hour. I would 100% recommend

Recently moved to the area and popped in for a quick lunch while at nearby shops for some essentials, menu a little pricey (particularly as it was just for a lunch) but food was delicious (flaky white fish and a light crisp batter) and staff were very accommodating to us.

Very large portions. 5 Cod bites where almost 5 full small cods. Reasonably priced. Friendly staff. Quick service. Would come here again! :)

The meals are hot, tasty and although the place is small it can fit families and has high seats for small kids. Good menu choice and smaller portions for people who can't manage normal sized meals. It's a clean place and the staff are constantly clearing up.

Got fish n chips takeaway. (Large cod & chips) The cod was beautiful, tender and perfectly cooked, batter delicious. The chips are exactly as chip shop chips used to be many years ago. Good old proper chips as they should be. All in all the best fish and chips Ive had in years. Service brilliant. Cannot fault. I would for sure recommend.
