Good beer. Wide range of real ales. Haven't tried the food. Music was too loud to talk to the person next to me.

Great british pub. Always welcoming to anyone.

Had the best gluten free fish n’ chips ever, plus gluten free onion rings which were amazing! My husband had steak & ale pie & said it was the best he has ever had! The staff were so welcoming & helpful. Have just moved to the area but will certainly come here again. Apparently the choice of beers is fabulous too -according to my other half!!

First the lady who was table service was brilliant. Long brown hair. Meal, fish and chips. In a road where there is 3 chip shops this was 2 out of ten. Massive fish and chips. Alas all batter and lots of bones. Not good. Fish obviously frozen. Massive heavy metal music coming out of the kitchen. Second chance at marine today but that's it. Shame.

Reasonably priced drinks. I didn't eat so can't comment on the food. It was nice to see this place so busy. Service at the bar is slow though. Lots of staff on but not enough serving. Nice atmosphere 👌

Went to Marine this evening after reading good reviews Nice pub very busy and good atmosphere We ordered food and drink but after waiting over an hour we asked where our food was. The bar person named Jenna said we had not ordered food? I found this very confusing as I watched her put in our order for 4 people and take our table number. When I said this to her she was very defensive and more or less called me liar If she had apologised I would have understood we all make mistakes but instead she insisted we had not placed the order then after reordering she practically threw our cutlery on the table When the food arrived after over an hour and a half my Lasagne was very tasty my husband said his pastry was undercooked on his pie mince and dumplings ok but preferred this dish at Harbour Lights steak ok but all in all will not be returning due to the service I received from Jenna

Always a good selection of beers.

Didn't order food, just drinks. Was told to leave as apparently me and my friends were doing coke. None of us were on it and I personally have never done it. Really unpleasant experience, we left straight away.

Great food, excellent chicken, and smoky bacon with a barbecue sauce. Really filled up the bread, I ordered chunky chips with hindsight, and I could have left out of the order. Washed down with a pint of Madri and some cracking background music. 👌

Great place for drinks and ales. Food needs a little bit of work. The frozen chips were the best part of the meal.

We called in on a Monday afternoon and ordered from the menu. We had steak and ale pie and minced beef and dumplings. The food was served promptly with a smile and the portions were enormous and tasted as good as they looked, and were great value for money. We can definitely recommend The Marine and will return when back in the area. The Beers although are quite expensive.

We dropped in for a drink, and it was welcoming, with good value, and I would recommend it.

Only attended for drinks however the service was amazing for a bank holiday weekend and the drinks tasted perfect definitely a pub worthy of the awards they have won

Never trued the food in this pub but from what we have seen it looks good. We always call in here for a pint or 2 before going for a curry. Propper drinking pub with good beers and largers. Well Worth a visit!

In the day this was a traditional big pub with bog standard keg ales - what a change!!! Great selection of cask ales, friendy and chatty staff, and in a busy traditional setting. What a transformation.. rate this with the Alum Ale House, and the Steamboat as a MUST go to for real ale drinkers in Sandancer land

Little cramped , or it would have had 5 stars all day long , one of best steaks I've had , not the biggest , but not most expensive either , nice for a treat

Difficult to get a seat now on a Sunday with people playing dominoes. The food is nowhere near as good as it used to be which is a shame! The few vegetables you get are bland and the chips are not real potatoes. If you like Yorkshire puddings the plate is filled with a massive one but hardly anything else! Ok selection of Beers.

Fabulous public house. Decoration and staff are congenial to a great meal or drink out. Only one fault - please change the gravy - it needs to be put on life support it’s so painfully thin and anemic - such a shame.

Excellent dog friendly park opposite Marine Park. The food is excellent, possibly the best pub burger I have ever eaten! Great value for money too. Highly recommended.

Had read reviews and put this pub on my hit list on my visit to South Shields. From the outside the Marine is a bit underwhelming which is a real shame as it nearly preventing me from going in with my 3 friends. It badly requires some tlc with a splash of paint! However it didn’t deter us and the interior is quite the opposite. A very traditional bar but immaculate inside with lovely comfortable tables and chairs. Great choice of lagers and great real ales and features regularly in the GBG. Great food and home made snacks to boot. Wine reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend

Been ages since I've been here, but thought it was canny when I went in.

My favourite place for a pint in Shields. Friendly staff, great range of cask & keg beers at a decent price. Music is good with pool/darts available.

We called in for a few drinks with friends. The staff and customers were friendly and helpful. The food looked really nice but we did not eat. We will be going back and would recommend it. Also very dog friendly.

Dog friendly and great people. Actually found a cousin there I never met before! The food is wonderful as are the people. I highly recommend it!!!

The Marine has been Pub of the Year since 2017-2023, a very good selection of Local Beer's, good Food selection, excellent Staff.

Visited today for lunch with my husband, we have to say that the fish and chips are the best we have had in a long time, would definitely recommend a visit, staff friendly and the music was good too

Visited with a friend for her birthday. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this place. Staff are friendly, chatty, polite and helpful. Had some good banter and a laugh. Service is quick, efficient and professional, all with a personal touch. Had some real ales even got a free one with the pubs loyalty card. Food was 1st class had the snacks 3 plates for £15 excellent value. Nachos were real tortillas not just Doritos with stuff on. Would highly recommend. Plus dog friendly.

Great pub, had a lovely time started off the evening with friends there. Called back in later the same night ended up playing pool..

We decided that we would try the Marine for tea, been in lots of times just for a beer or two before. We both chose the burgers chicken and the classic, got to say the staff were great and freindly/helpfull .My beef burger was one of the tastiest that i have had and nicely presented with chips and a salad.My wife had the chicken burger she said was very nice. We both agreed that we will come again and try something different from the menu. Also a great selection of real ales well worth a visit.

Had a hard time finding a good place that offered glutten free food for my daughter who has celiac disease. Found the Marine! Fit the bill and a real fun place! Staff was amazing.

Standard pub really. Nothing special but serves a decent pint

Never visited until now. What a great pub, full of cheer, a great choice of beers, nice staff and a fine atmosphere of friendly people having a good time. I was drinking IPA and they serve a good pint. Everyone else with me enjoyed themselves too.

Very expensive bottle newcastle broon £5.50 archers £7.00, lol

Love this pub - decent selection of beers, lovely amount of seating, most of all the staff are fantastic.

The reason we left was due to the head banging noise that we first thought was a Live Band with over active Drummer. It was early on a Saturday evening and we had walked there from our seafront Hotel for dinner and drinks with our Labrador as it is Dog Friendly. It was wedged when we first arrived but managed to get a seat after others left, but many people were waiting at the Bar to be served so we left in search of somewhere quieter.

I had the pleasure of stopping by The Marine on my recent trip to the UK. Bar none, it’s the best pub in So Shields with the best bartenders in town. Charlotte, Peter and Becky provided beyond exceptional service. They were friendly, professional, and made wonderful drink suggestions. I visited many pubs in the area and the staff here is what made it my favorite go to. I will be back. 💖

We ordered fish and chips and also a classic burger and my partner cut into the burger and it was still bloody and Luke warm and we told the bar man he said it cooked fully and the chef mixes the mince with tomato puree also that wasn't on the menu dispristion and we won't be ordering from they again we were they today 17th October 2022

Lively local pub. Good drinks avaliable with a wide range of cask ales. Good quality pub grub! And plenty of it. Right up my street. Good vegan options. Dog friendly too. Bar staff and locals canny too

We enjoyed a few drinks and a lovely evening meal after a day of catching up and beers! Our food was what u would best describe as proper hearty grub. Tasty starters, tasty mains. One salmon, one pork and one mice and spuds. Very nice indeed.

the exterior is little drab, the welcome, food and beer are very welcoming. highly recommended. the beach an park are a short walk away, the toilets are clean.
