Lovely food, total value for money

We had a great meal tonight, 8 of us met up there (family visited from London). All staff were great and very friendly - I would like to praise Ria, who took our order behind the bar - my husband is diabetic and his libre/phone was telling him his blood sugars were extremely low, so I asked Ria if she sold any chocolate behind the bar, she said she didn't - but when I explained about my husbands condition, she rushed off to the kitchen and grabbed a mars bar to give him, I felt this deserved a special mention, she didn't have to do this - THANK YOU RIA, very much appreciated

We always visited the Fountain at least once a month as it was central for family to meet. After a long serving manager left, the food was never as good, (maybe the chef left too) and decided after a couple of visits, the poor quality of food was not just a ‘one off’. We heard through the Shields ‘grapevine’ that there was a new manager and decided to give it a try again. It wasn’t particularly busy on our visit on a Friday lunchtime and were served very quickly by a helpful, smiley member of staff. Food & drinks ordered we returned to our table. The drinks were delivered promptly and some 10-15 minutes later, so was our food. The presentation and temperature of the food (hot!) was as previous standards! Smiles all round from our family group. The steak & ale pies, a firm favourite of ours, were cooked to perfection, as was the fish & chips! Our plates were being cleared and we explained our dilemma of deciding whether to return and give it one more try and were very happy we did. As it happened, it was the new manager who was taking our empty plates and she was lovely, hoping that we’d return again. We most certainly will! Keep up the good work!

We celebrated our Diamond anniversary with six friends and Sam and the young man serving us were so helpful, friendly and efficient. Our food was really lovely and now that we know we can take our little dog we will definitely be back.

Shocking we ordered flatbreads nothing at all like the photo on menu never again flatbreads freezing cold 2 little bits of lettuce down the middle with 3 bits of kofta and tiniest drizzle of dressing and husbands was equally as disgusting how they get away with charging what they do for this food , i noticed someone else complained about them and obviously nothing changed won’t visit here again Very annoying what they charge for substandard food

We’ve ate here countless times over the years but only very occasionally go in for drinks now because the food is so poor. Dried, warmed up microwave food at best. At one time it was difficult to get a table it was that good. You actually had to ring and reserve a table. Not anymore as it’s went right downhill. Seems to be getting a lot of obviously false 5 star reviews for some reason.

Visited for food and drinks with friends, food was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub has a good atmosphere too.

Lovely pub and staff were friendly. Nice sunny beer garden area to the side where We had the flatbread meals which were really tasty and good value.

Sat outside in the sunshine. Lovely spot to sit and have a drink. Food is usually OK here. I chose some 'loaded chicken strips'.. Which was more like loaded chips with chicken. It was nice for what it was, just not what I'd expected. Could have done with a bit more sauce.

Disappointed with the flatbread meals, both flatbreads were cold and undercooked. The steak was cold and the pico de gallo had been missed off. Didn't bear much resemblance to the pictures on the menu. Won't hurry back.

Food took a little long but it was nice

Me and my husband went for a meal my husband got the mixed grill, left it all it was awful and I got hunters chicken which wasn't much better, got a flat glass of coke and a cheesecake that tasted rottern safe to say I would not go back!

Came today! We had the 2 classics for £13.49 and I can honestly say it was one of the best gammons ive had from a Greene King pub! Great staff and amazing food! Would highly reccomend - We will be back!! Thank you! 😊💯

The new management here has lifted the place no end. Happy staff and a great vibe to what it used to be 😀

Mine and my daughters 1st visit here and we were greeted by a lovely man on entering, we were presently surprised at the interior as it was a total last minute tea out which i had stuck a pin in google maps to choose a venue, im pleased we arrived here ! i have to say the food was exceptional, staff friendly and polite, nice clean place. We both had steaks which came out on sizzling platters which was great as the food stayed lovely and hot, we thoroughly enjoyed it and we will definitely be back. My only pet peeve is frozen chips so i will give it a 9.5 for that reason alone.

Decided to try the Fountain today. I don’t think I’d return in a hurry. I had a cheese burger and my Husband had the steak pie with Mash. This was the only thing my Husband had to eat today and since dinner, has had a very upset stomach and numerous trips to the bathroom. I ordered the choc sundae which came in a very slim glass ( very overpriced for what they fit inside this sundae glass ) and was given the largest spoon possible to eat it with. The spoon wouldn’t fit past half way. Not a great experience to be honest.

Came to the pub to enjoy my new friends and family discount from my niece (Thanks Ria) our food came promptly, hot and was lush. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be coming back!

We attended yesterday for an impromptu family meal out. This is our first time at this establishment. We were greeted by a lovely warm atmosphere and a lovely staff member (I later found out her name was Ria) who couldn't do enough to accommodate us and my daughter's additional needs (wheelchair user) nothing was an issue, space was made, chairs were moved all without a fuss. Food was served quickly and was delicious, well worth the money, we will be returning.

Came with my family for food this evening, it was very busy in the pub but Ria from behind the bar was very accomadting finding us a table and showed us to the app to place our orders. She then brought our food and drinks over and was so friendly with the kids. Really good food and a nice atmosphere enjoyed by all!

spare of the moment day out for dinner so we decided to give The fountain a try, We were served by Clare and her service was exceptional, very friendly, her knowledge about the food menu was fantastic given we also needed Vegan options so made ordering a breeze. no complaints about the food either. all in all a brilliant service from start to finish. 10/10. we will definitely return sometime soon. Popped in for a beer with my partner the other day when walking our dog. Lovely barmaid think her name was Ria offered us water for our dog and helped carry our beer outside in the sun. Very helpful service and a great pub

Me and my partner visited yesterday lunch time to try the new menu. Ria the barmaid helped recommend a dish to me (The Lamb Kofta) as there were so many options! I think we’ve found our new local for pub grub! Lovely staff and delicious food :) We will be back again next week!

Very good atmosphere, friendly staff, good and a lot of options between dishes, hamburguers and sides. good variety of beers.

So we went to the Fountain today as it was bogof with the burgers and honestly I wouldn't have taken them if they were free. All bar a chicken burger eaten by my baby mama which she said was nice. As you can see by the photos, the craftsmanship of the 'Bacon' cheeseburgers ate by the papas was truly art. Was howling at the piece of bacon, cold cheese and dot of mayo on the top bun, least we got a laugh. Staff were lovely though and it ain't on them what the company pumps out. Cheese cake was sad, Water and cordial were toppers.

Thank you Mollie and Isaac who served us our drinks and food. Such lovely and friendly staff. I would definitely recommend this pub for families as the food is great, it’s well priced and not to mention the portion sizes are always so big. Lots of options to choose from for vegetarians also. Will definitely come back

Used to be one of the best pubs in the area, the food side has gone downhill. Decided to visit today after not bothering for a while, really regretted it. Waited over 45mins for less than average food. Even then, one of us had to wait even longer. Save your money and go to Wetherspoons, same standard, more choice and cheaper drinks. Bring back Bob.

I came to see a tribute band and received excellent service from Steph, she was extremely friendly and helpful, I would definitely recommend visiting the fountain pub

Went along for a Sunday lunch, and the food was very bland. The chicken was very dry and the rest of the meal tasted like it had been cooked the day before hand then reheated. Staff were nice and friendly though.

Went today for Sunday lunch I ordered half a roast chicken which consisted of leg and thigh was so dry and over cooked frozen vegetables which were hard and cold mashed potatoes which had a skin on tasted like smash and roast potatoes which were totally overcooked sent it back and was offered another meal but felt a bit under pressure to choose something else so just asked for money back table next to us received there meal five minutes after us and also sent there's back food normally great here but would definitely not be going back for a Sunday roast

We visit the fountain pub with our residents from cheviot court carehome. The staff are always so helpful and nothing is too much bother. The staff are patient and do itemized Bill's for each person in our group. The pub is always clean ,warm and very friendly.

Unfortunately we visited for a wake. However, the buffet layed on was 1st class

Called in for dinner tonight with my wife. Two glasses of wine each, sauvignon blanc and rioja, one hunters skillet and a piri piri chicken. Lovely meal and drinks, friendly staff, comfortable pub, great value.

This was my second visit to The Fountain. A very enjoyable glass or two of Carlsberg and good food, both at a more than sensible price. More than happy with that. I shall return. 👍

Just had lunch here and the food was delicious and piping hot.. It has a nice cosy atmosphere aswell.. I'll definitely be back again...The manageress Claire was very friendly aswell.. Overall I'm very happy with my experience at The Fountain 😊

Judging by the previous reviews I think the usual chef was having the day off. The gammon I ordered was undercooked, the egg and chips were barely warm and the onions looked as they had been boiled and not fried!

Food is reasonably decent, I had burger and wings. Decent selection of beer, usually it's just carling or fosters you get in S.Shields. My issue is I went to watch the football, spent 30 quid ti be told when I asked if they can put the audio commentary on so we can hear the game...NO! Last thing they want us you enjoying yourself!! What an attitude. The game is only on for 90 mins, what an inconvenience!!!!!

New years eve, drinks with family and friends, no food , local band played the new year in... A pretty decent evening was had by all...
