Lunchtime snack turned into full plate. Baked potato with cheese savoury and salad. Beautiful. Also corned beef slice and beans.once again plentyful. This was recommended by a local as we stopped for coffee during pandemic. Second visit Would I recommend Definitely. Use council car park across road in square as parking restricted to half hour.

We needed a quick pick-me-up and popped in here. Nice, inexpensive but tasty food. I had a simple bacon english muffin sandwich and my husband had the ham and cheese on a ciabatta roll. Both of them were very nice. The ladies working were friendly. Good place to go for an inexpensive meal.

We called in to Cafe J's at 3:45 pm for a snack to tide us over till our evening meal the service was excellent and the snack toasted cheese and red onion rellish and side salad were perfect and were made fresh, and and all at a reasonable price, one point to note though the cafe winds down at 4 pm because they close at 5 but they do hot and cold drinks during this time. the 2 staff we very helpful and the cafe was spotlessly clean, well done Girls and thanks.

My friend and I had been shopping in Crook so before returning home to Weardale we thought we would pop into Cafe J’s for a quick snack. Well it was only tea and crumpets but it hit the spot as the tea was not weak like many cafes and was lovely tasting plus the crumpets were well done which suited my friend and I. Lovely and hot, served with plenty of butter. It’s the most friendly place and a great atmosphere.

We travel a forty mile round trip to visit Cafe Js and it always provides a great meal. All day breakfast, sandwiches and jacket potatoes amongst other things. I had tuna jacket potato and filter coffee. Simple food but plentiful and good quality. Cake, snacks and nice atmosphere. Papers available. Toilet clean, Cafe has been painted this year and the decor is fresh.

Visitamos aquí regularmente cuando los amigos están en la ciudad. Este lugar nunca nos decepciona con muy buena comida a precios amable de bolsillo, servido por un personal alegre. La colección siempre cambiante teteras en la ventana es bastante la novedad.

We were in Crook to drop our dogs off at the groomers and hadn't had breakfast when we spotted Cafe J's. It looked busy and clean so we ordered 2 all day breakfasts. Sausage, bacon, egg, beans, mushrooms, toast and tea for 2 was served promptly and at £ 9.90 was excellent. Well done cafe j we will return

Had a all day breakfast. Very well cooked egg with white cooked and yolk still dippy for the bacon. Bacon crispy and beans really nice. The only small criticism was the toast came ready "buttered". Not sure butter was the right word. The tea was good and strong and newspapers available.Sells Ringtons products.

Because the shop front is brown, it doesn't catch your eye really, so I'd lived in Crook a while before I went in, but it would always be my first choice for lunch now. I've taken friends and family in, who also really enjoyed themselves. Jacket potatoes, toasties and sandwiches have generous fillings and are so reasonably priced. The cafe has a high chair and really clean facilities, so I feel confident taking my baby in there, plus the staff always make a fuss of her which is lovely. All the staff at Cafe J's are super friendly, and the toilet (although unisex) is always clean and well-maintained. Proper portions, great homemade cakes & slices, and a lovely latte. My favourite place for lunch in the area.

I plan to make this my regular haunt whenever I visit Crook, It's small but that can have the effect of making it feel more homely. The staff are always happy to help whenever I go in with my friend and always help me find somewhere to sit where there is also room for my guide dog. The food is always freshly prepared to my liking and reasonably priced and there is a wide selection to choose from.

After a rather wet walk with our dog in Bishop Auckland, we baulked at the idea of paying £1 to park there to search for a café & were lucky to drive back via Crook and find Café J's. Warm & welcoming with a great choice of hot & cold sandwiches, jacket potatoes with a choice of fillings, pies, cakes, afternoon & cream teas, all home made & served with a smile. Free parking too!

Lovely bakers and coffee shop, Lattes were really good and the gluten free carrot cake was amazing. When you have coeliac you can’t always find somewhere that provides gluten free especially in small villages but I would definitely recommend Peggotty’s! We’ll be back.
