Claypath Deli is in Durham. Great customer service by a young man who served me. I got a freshly done wholemeal Sourdough bread, still warm to touch and croissant a a very nice Cappuccino costing £9.10 I think the only downside is parking, cost £1 to park; ( i live out of area) but saying this I'm all for local independent buissness. Produce is so much better than a supermarket.

Lovely friendly staff, ordered and chicken salad sandwich and wasn’t disappointed. The bread is amazing and nice fresh tasting ingredients. A little on the expensive side but it is a city centre so can’t complain too much. Would definitely recommend.

Hachapuri, Georgian cheese bread, made of sourdough, is excellent. It looks a bit different to how it is traditionally made, and with a selection of additions (i.e. bacon) slides towards pizza, but I am still going to come back and order it again! A bit of a raised brow about a guy whom I could see washing the dishes -well, he didn't know how. Just dipped them once or twice under the running water and put it onto the drying rack. Hmmmm... I hope the owner reads this and makes sure hygene standards are trained. Also it is nice to see very young boys having a chance to work here, probably earning their first money. Some staff were so friendly, smiley, made sure we have everything we need. No wi-fi. Steamed single windows. Live music advertised on posters. People coming in snd out buying bread, buns, etc. Excellent atmosphere and community spirit!

This cafe sells the most beautiful bread in Durham and is (I think) the only city-centre bakery other than supermarkets. Fantastic sourdoughs and varied offer daily. The cakes and pastries are fantastic and takeaway coffee delicious. Slightly out of the centre and totally worth the short walk.

My favourite cafe in Durham. The sourdough bread for taking away is to die for. And everything I've ever eaten there has been wonderful - pizzas, khachapuri, sandwiches, salads, cakes...and they always have fabulous vegan options. The owners are absolutely lovely and it has such a friendly community vibe, with a delightful little garden for the summer months. Don't hesitate to make the walk up the hill from the city centre, it's totally worth it!

How blessed are we to have two bijou venues within walking distance of home. Have visited Old Cinema Laundrette lots of times but this was our first visit to Claypath Delicatessen. And what a Quality, Quirky, Quintessentially English evening it was in the company of Robyn Hitchcock esquire. Brilliant guitarist, sometime bizarre lyricist. We finally caught him after the Gateshead gig was cancelled the other year. An extra toilet would be great, perhaps a bucket in the back yard. Take a cushion if you're precious or infirm, and drink lots of Loweswater Gold, a drink to satisfy any palate. Very friendly, natural staff, will definitely return, the sooner the better.

I had my 2nd visit to the deli a week or so back. This time it was a racy stop for takeaway sandwiches. TBH to call them sandwiches is to do them an injustice - we're talking sourdough baguettes and freshly baked bagels filled with a variety of inspired fillings. The portions are generous. Our previous stop a few weeks before had been for an early lunch where we sat in, enjoyed the ambience (great choice of music playing in the background) and enjoyed coffees and cakes as well as our 'sandwiches' - we needed a doggy bag as we couldn't finish it all!

The coffee sends me to cosmic realms of divinity, easing every stress and trauma then bringing a sense of peace to my core. The bagel was soft like a baby birds heart, and all ingredients harvested straight from the garden of Eden that morning. The man, who I assume is of direct descendent of Adam was kind and generous whose grace filters through the beans of the coffee. Thank you

Claypath Deli is astoundingly good value for the quality of the food that is offered. The bread and cakes are all homemade and the sandwiches are great sized portions. Really good place to do some work and sit back with a coffee if you don't fancy eating, but this place's speciality is definetely its outstanding produce. It's a shame that being up the hill means people don't realise it is here as it is a much better option than lots of the other (lovely) cafes around town. Go to Claypath Deli!

This place is amazing! The staff were really nice, and the food was delicious. I believe we as a family only ever went for Breakfast, but it was really nice even if we only went for Breakfast. The toast they did was lush (as said by one of my family members) and so was the English Breakfast. (with Toast, at least I think so) The toilets were easy to find in case we needed to get to them, and the atmosphere of the place was just outstanding. As much as my family would love to come again, we only came here because we were on holiday and it’s a bit too far for us to drive so I don’t think we’ll have a chance to come again, but I’m sure other customers who come will have a really good experience. Personally, I hope nothing but the best for this place and the staff who work there because this place and the staff deserve it.

Very average meal which firstly started with an out-of-date camembert! You could tell it was off as soon as it was put on the table, it smelt really bad and upon tasting, very sour! As camembert comes in the packaging, you can see the date and, of course, out of date!! We sent it back and chose not to order another. But the mains were delicious, big portions, nice and hot. Couldn't fault service from the staff, but can't say I'd rush back, sorry.

The food was excellent the spring rolls and mac and cheese bites were totally yummy, along with the Lasagna and spicy pasta mains.
