We arrived for breakfast at 10am Sunday & no sign of life at all. Maybe update your opening times on Tripadvisor. Food could very well be delicious …. We’ll never know 🥺

Visited Alnwick & stayed in self catering accommodation for a couple of nights. Decided to get breakfast in our first morning at McKenna's at the Playhouse. Staff were friendly & welcoming. Cafe was modern & decorated nicely. There's wheelchair access to get in & a wheelchair lift inside the cafe. Food was really good - my husband & I both had the cheese scone with bacon & poached egg - absolutely delicious - so much so we decided to return for breakfast on our second/last morning. Highly recommend a visit.

Dropped in for breakfast on our way to Alnwick Castle. It’s a lovely warm, busy venue with great ambience. Service was quick and friendly, the food good value. We drank tea and an excellent Americano Coffee while eating Mushrooms on Toast and Smashed Avocado with Poached Eggs. There was nothing to criticise, we’d eaten a similar breakfast at the Terrace in Fenwick’s in Newcastle the day before and this was far superior. Just what we need and we’d highly recommend.

Maybe its because I'm used to paying more southerly prices but I found that the coffee here was not only excellent but also very moderately priced. Connected to a library

We decided to try McKenna's for a pre-show meal and it was in the words of Pop Larkin "Just Perfick". We'd checked the evening menu which is available on-line and whilst there isn't large choice, it's clear that it is in the main "tapas" style food or "light bites". There are plenty of sides available to make a more substantial meal if that's what required. I've based my five stars on value for money, cleanliness, welcome, friendliness of the staff and of course on the meals we had, which were beautifully presented, a pleasure to eat and very tasty. It was an excellent meal, simple, but what we wanted in pleasant surrounding. To use the words from a television advert: you get what is says on the tin with lovely friendly service. We will be back as it suits our needs "just perfick".

We visited Alnwick a couple of weeks ago and the weather was not great so we were looking for somewhere to shelter from the rain and have lunch when we came across the Playhouse. It was busy but not packed and the waiter kindly put two tables together for the 4 of us which gave a bit more room. Our order was taken promptly and the food was freshly cooked and served with a smile. Excellent standards, friendly service and reasonable prices. Will definitely go back.

Disappointed with the menu, expecting a proper menu instead of tapas style food. The drinks available at the bar are good as well as nice surroundings. What small morsel we did get to eat were ok but will not be visiting again pre-show.

Just had a pre show meal at Alnwick Playhouse. The menu was very limited with some bizarre items and the portions weren’t very large at all. We won’t be visiting again if we see a show here

Popped in on Saturday whilst visiting Alnwick. Great atmosphere and the staff were very attentive. I opted for the Moroccan Chickpeas with pitta and have to say it was excellent - I could eat it every day. I also have to comment on the coffee, it tasted great but more importantly for me was HOT - too many places there days serve warm coffee. Overall, excellent experience and the food was amazing. I will definitely be back.

Very much enjoyed our brief visit to he cafe in Alnwick Playhouse - lemonades with white chocolate and hazel nut brownies along with fruit scones with fresh cream and jam. Excellent service in a very comfortable and safe environment and would love to return to try something more substantial to eat at a later date x

We came across McKenna’s by chance but so glad we did-what a delicious lunch. Staff were working really hard & food was all made fresh as ordered. We had falafel pitta & Mediterranean chick pea -both so tasty. If you’re in Alnwick make sure you head here.

We really like this wonderful new small restaurant in Alnwick Playhouse. We have already been there several times and never been disappointed. It is marvellous for vegetarians - the choice is so much better than most other restaurants and cafes in town. The felafel are great as are the veggie sausage sandwiches with cheese and pickle and there are various other things to choose from. Staff are really friendly and helpful. We thoroughly recommend it and look forward to our next visit.

This was our first visit to McKennas and we were delighted. Staff were attentive and friendly, great menu options and the venue is quirky with a good atmosphere and in a great location. Although we didn't see any shows today, we had a sneaky peak inside the theatre and it looks a fantastic venue. Our family had a selection of burgers, sandwiches and haggis on toast. They were all delicious and plentiful. Highly reccomend and we will be back soon.

We called in for a late breakfast, nabbed the last table. The good Lady chose Eggs Florentine with hollandaise sauce. I plumped for a bacon butty. We had a pot of tea and a latte. £15 all in. Not too bad. Surroundings buzzing, one lady even saying “ Oh look he’s taking photos of his food” I tried to explain It was for trip advisor, to help people like her. “Oh I don’t do trip advisor” Great food great location. Spiffing 👍🏻 old bean.

The coffee stop absolutely went above and beyond for a 50th party that I arranged the food was exceptional and everyone off the guests said the same, more than enough food and amazing service I would rate Angela and George 100% if I could I honestly can not thank them enough for making the occasion so special.

I was recommended the Bari Tea Brewery by a friend and was not disappointed. The range of teas on offer was vast with many interesting flavours! I had the green ginger tea with a scone which was freshly baked and was very tasty! Service was very good and all the staff very friendly.

What a wonderful place to have a cup of tea! We were visiting the Heritage Centre next door and were taken in by the quirkiness of the idea and decided to have lunch in the carriage. We were greeted by a very friendly and welcoming young man who gave us a few minutes to make our lunch choice. The tea was served in a traditional tea pot in “proper” china tea cups which was just perfect. Our food choices were soup and a cheese scone, ham and cheese sandwich and a sausage and bacon bun, all presented lovely and totally delicious. We were on holiday in the area and wish we live closer as I’d visit all the time. The prices were very reasonable and the service from the staff faultless.

We’ve ordered Sunday lunch a few times now from Stobhill bait and have never been disappointed! I’m very fussy about the quality of meat in any takeaway food & have tried both the pork & beef lunches, both were great. Veg & gravy lovely & really decent portion sizes! An excellent solution if you’re just on your own or can’t be bothered to cook.
