i took my granddaughter hayden for a burger and chips here at the whitehouse i had a lovely bread sandwich and beans but hayden cried and didnt eat his tomato and pickle toastie. the place was not very clean i found shaving foam under the table and it smelt like moudly cheese. but a nice experinece and an average birthday party at least hayden got his vbucks.

We called in for hot chocolate and tea, the two ladies were very friendly and made room for the 4 of us and our two springer spaniels. The homemade cheesecake was amazing. They gave us advice on the local area and places to visit. We will be back x

Seeing a good selection of classic British dishes in the window, we popped in for lunch. What a delightful and friendly couple running this tiny but clean cafe well attended by locals. And how helpful they were about allergies. Everything is cooked to order and we chose scampi and chips with brown granary bread and pots of tea. Delicious and excellent value for money. Recommended.

What a great find. Lovely home cooking with a really friendly service. Proper home made chips - not the frozen kind - are so much nicer. If you’re in the area you should pop in.

I visited while in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea to see my family, and I love that this little cafe is dog friendly and very welcoming. I had a vanilla late and the owners made a little snowman on top - the small details that really make a place feel homely! The food was really nice and good value. So many cafes order in their food, serve from frozen or serve pretty tasteless and expensive little sandwiches, but it’s clear that the Whitehouse cooks from scratch, it feels a bit like visiting your favourite aunties house (but with a better coffee selection!) fresh, homemade English food and most of it locally sourced. They have a lot of choice which is good when you all like different things and as the owners are approachable I think if you had special requests they’d be able to accommodate. Definitely one to try next time you are in Newbiggin!

This little cafe is lovely! Lots of specials up in the window! Food was amazing & very cheap! We got a pork dinner (which had lots of meat, lots of mashed potato & mixed veg) for £4.50 and an apple crumble & custard for £1.50 a portion! The meat was beautifully cooked, ample helpings & the apple crumble was the best I've tasted! We are not back here till next year now (holidaying!) And we will definitely be back! Amazing food at amazing value with a friendly service!

We visited the family run cafe and were welcomed by Vivienne. We sat outside as the weather was beautiful. Nothing was enough trouble from the couple. My daughter opted for fish and chips. I had a ham sandwiche and chips. Everything was freshly fried and the fish was cooked to perfection. My sandwiche was made with fresh home cooked ham hock. Lots of regulars there who were also friendly. Absolute loved it and an absolute find. My only regret is that I didn't get a fresh trifle but with the portion size of the mains I couldn't but next time is a definite. See you soon next we are visiting.

The food is fresh and homemade, none of the frozen crap you get at other places, the homemade chips are lovely and the old school cake and custard is to die for and a favourite of ours. The food is good value for money too with most of the daily specials starting at £4!

Me and my wife are regular visitors to the White House cafe Newbiggin. The food is always delicious and fresh and very filling, the daily specials are excellent value for money only £4.00 for the main lunch and a homemade pudding usually rice or fruit crumble and custard, I can also recommend the hot beef chicken or pork and stuffing Yorkshire pudding wraps and the bacon sandwiches. They also have a mean baked potatoe with a host of lovely fillings. They now deliver and have introduced lamb as a choice of the Sunday meat choice for the Sunday dinners also delicious and very good value for money. Try it you will not be disappointed.

Burgers were tasty. We then had various ice-creams with chocolate brownie, caramel shortbread and carrot cake.4 cans of soft drink and a pit of tea.All for around £35, superb value. The owner (didn't catch his name) was most welcoming and fairly talkative which made the visit even more enjoyable. Will definitely return to this cafe when we come back to Sandy Bay holiday park. Location: The Whitehouse (Cafe), Newbiggin by the Sea. Date: 19/09/13My in-depth review. Title: Perfection. - Choices of food: I had the cheese burger with bacon, followed by a Caramel Shortcake, with an Americano coffee. - Food Presentation: 9.8 / 10.0. The caramel shortcake could of had a bit of glamour to it. But maybe that's just my arty side being picky! Lol- Initial Taste: 10.0 / 10.0. - Texture: 10.0 / 10.0.- Portion: 9.0 / 10.0.- After taste: 10.0 / 10.0.Additional: As far as I am aware, it was a homemade burger. It could of been a bit thicker, but none the less was an amazing burger. ---- Staff: 10.0 / 10.0. Top Marks ;)The manager 'Mark' was very friendly, professional and had such a passion for his business. I was very impressed by him and would defiantly recommend engaging in conversation, if he doesn't first. - Additional: There is a very limited space, something like 16 seats. But I'd say the makes it more the better for exclusivity. Also keeping in mind, this is just a small cafe, not a resturant. This was also my first time here, yet I was made to feel like a regular customer. As well as noticing that Mark knew the names of an elderly couple that came in. ---- Cost: 10.0 / 10.0. Side note: The caramel shortbread was huge for it's small cost of only £1. - Hygiene: 10.0 / 10.0. I came in close to closing time, so there had been a full day of service, yet the place was kept very clean, surfaces were wiped down constantly and there were no plates / cups left on the tables. - Condiments: 10.0 / 10.0. Was asked after placing my order if I would like any sauces on my order. Was given a full description of the choices. ----- Overall: 10.0 / 10.0-- Final Conclusion: I loved this place. Will defiantly be going again and would 100% recommend it to anyone. Also, the boss told me about his planned upcoming food events and they sound amazing! Can't wait to go along for those. I can't believe that I haven't heard of this place before! I strongly think that Mark (Boss) could open several cafe's like this one, and be very successful. Although I kinda hope he doesn't, as he is perfect where he is, haha. Thanks,Gary.

We called for lunch today, whilst passing through New Biggin. I wasn't sure what to expect, but what we got was some very tasty food. Mum and I had paninis with salad and a creamy, crunchy home made coleslaw. My husband and daughter had nachos, with a freshly made piquant salsa, followed by home made fish cakes with salad, and a chicken breast in a bun, served with a lovely spicy freshly prepared chilli jam. After consuming some really special home made ice cream (different flavours) to finish, we were very impressed and well satisfied. We actually thought we had been undercharged, and queried the bill when it was presented. No mistake, just extremely good value. I would highly recommend this cafe and hope to return again when in the area.

Played today, Mon 26th August, Great layout, but sadly the greens are diseased and awful, and the tee boxes are terrible, very expensive bar, and no food being served, even though there was a competition on, and the bar was busy, Sadly one to miss in the future.

We visited Hexham yesterday and found this café in the Market Place, after a lovely River Tyne walk. It was quite busy at 1pm but we didn't have to wait long for our table. The girls made us feel very welcome and worked so hard while we were there clearing tables and getting everyone seated as soon as possible. My husband had a bacon sarnie and I had a ham and mushroom omelette which was so light and fluffy, delicious. Coffees were great too. Plenty of choice on the menu and great prices. Doggy friendly too with a treat for pooch 🐾

What a welcoming, hospitable place. If you ever need cheering up, this is the place to go. We were made welcome immediately, and tony the owner had us in stiches from the start. Everyone there were so friendly, and what had started as an intended short visit, led to us staying to closing. Met some brilliant characters, who all just made our day. Dog friendly too, which was an added bonus to us. Can't recommend enough.
