The best restaurants serving British food in Northumberland North East

Had lunch here. Sat outside on their terrace with heating. Good food and friendly service. Very good moules et frites

Called in here this morning after a beach walk with the dogs.So welcoming ,made us feel really at home.Delicious coffees and really tasty bacon sandwiches. Will certainly be back.

Service was shocking. Believe it to be a manager, she had dark hair, slim, older lady. She was so so rude. Never apologised once for the poor service she offered. Would walk away while we were answering her questions. Never apologised for not having starters we wanted or for things not being ready. We had no drinks our entire meal, asked THREE seperate times. They were brought over and she never apologised even though our meal was done. I then told a young waitress (who did nothing wrong) that the manager was so rude and we were unhappy with the service, she never did anything about it or took money off but I’d expect she will be scared of that manager as I would be if I was a young girl. We then asked to pay for the food; nobody came over, we asked THREE times. In the end we put our coats on and decided not to pay. But at the last second a young girl came over and I couldn’t bare to tell her we were unhappy, as she hadn’t done anything wrong and I’m sure she is a good waitress. We couldn’t bare to be in there a minute longer. The food was lovely but the service was horrifying.

The Gents toilet is disgusting.

Just visited with my daughter and granddaughters for ice creams. Saturday 2.30pm. I’ve got the say the girls serving have absolutely no people skills, in fact I would say the girl actually serving us was rude! No customer see at all!

Went in for takeaway fish and chips on my way home from the cinema, just across the road. It was the second time I'd been to Paxtons because the first time was so good. I had cod and chips, and it was lovely - crispy batter, nicely cooked fish with decent chips, and a good sized portion. Well recommended.

Thought we had booked a double bed. Two singles which we pushed together. But still very seperate. No king size duvet. Which was a let down.

The food and service were exceptional. I prefer a small portion and was not disappointed, my husband had normal portions. The staff were so pleasant and helpful. Will certainly be back here again. Thank you!!!

A decent chain of restaurant/ pub. Nice Sunday lunches ( although my meats were warm rather than hot) I'll happily return
