Great night watching kids sing just a shame place was so cold, room was bitter cold

We used the Riverside lodge for my daughter.Lauras wedding 22nd Oct 22 Can't thank.the organiser of my daughters special day enough .. nothing was a problem and the lady who was in charge couldn't be more helpful going above and beyond to make this day-night very very special ... Absolutely everyone say they had a fabulous day . The decor of the room was beautiful.. Faultless .. Thankyou very very much Brides mum ❤️

Called in on a red hot afternoon , told the pub weren’t open but you can buy a drink from the hatch ( pub open at 4 pm ) ok then expecting 2pints of cold larger , how wrong could I be , 2pints of warm piss ! Coolers ovs not on , staff couldn’t give a toss , then I went to the toilet , my god , disgusting, flooded , seats missing not cleaned We were gonna eat , well that got binned as well as the beer Avoid at all costs

I'm having my wedding reception there and went with the family to try the food , very upset that I can't cook anything that nice and I thought I could do a Sunday roast . Add to that the friendly staff lovely feel to the pub and nice views of the river what's not to like .

Great Venue for our Granddaughter's 7th Birthday. 'Party Entertainers' we're brilliant, Music, Dancing, Games, Photo Opportunities with 'Birthday Girl' & Family, Birthday Cake, Cinderella & Spiderman.

Drinks over priced and taste like lines never cleaned worst place in peth

The worse pub food we have ever had and the service was appalling I ordered mince and dumplings and came with bolognaise and mash Kids meals came covered in herbs and burnt My sons meal came with everything he was allergic too! The staff were not interested at all when we told them the food was horrendous!

Wasn't great, the welcome wasn't very friendly, the dinner wasn't very good burnt Yorkshire's, 1 slice of meat and overdone vegetables.

Service was friendly and polite prepaired to go the extra mile to make you feel welcome the food was out of this world so much flavour brilliant options available will be informing friends and family about it and will be going back again soon

Myself and my family went for a nice Sunday lunch, only to be served meat which didn’t taste right only to later discover on social media that the chef who has been completely mistreated and not been given his correct wages that the management threatened to sake him if he didn’t serve the meat that was off! Luckily we didn’t end up with food poisoning! Management was rude not helpful and the staff just couldn’t be bothered! I will not be returning! The state this kitChen is in also is a danger to the public I wouldn’t even serve a rat in there! This place need shut down by public health! Absolutely disgusting!😡

The whole restaurant is filthy, definitely hasn't been cleaned in a long long time, the kitchen is a mess and this place deserves to be shut down.

Riverside Lodge, after many attempts of contacting you and you refusing to contact me back I decided I will share my experience with you on here. After being employed by you as a chef a few weeks back, I spent 16 hours cleaning up your scummy kitchen. On a sunday service, I was forced to serve rotten meat that was left on the bench overnight till the next service at 12pm, about 11 hours. I was given the ultimatum of serve the meat or forfeit my job, so I was left with no choice. Following instruction, I served said meat, which coincidently was sent out the owner's sister. After this happened I was laid off, being accused of sabotaging the business, getting told I need to reimburse their lost revenue and was given no pay, I have rent and other bills to pay and was working full time hours on no pay. You have rejected all forms of contact with me, making any attempt to not have to pay me, so now everyone can see the scummy business you run. You set me up and I am not the first person you have done this to.

Vile kitchen trying to shame staff on social media for wanting to clean 3 days in a row (indication of how vile and disgusting the kitchen is) food poisoning guaranteed if you eat here epuldnt feed their food to my dog

Superb Sunday roast, loads of food, decent portion of meat. Well cooked and very tasty, will visit again. Staff very attentive, nice relaxed atmosphere!

Lovely lamb roast although veg is done andante which was no good for my toddler or baby. But I loved mine. Very reasonably priced. Cost us less than £35 for 2 adult Sunday dinners & 2 children's dinners too. PUDDINGS INCLUDED. Lovely service from staff, there was a mix up & delay with our desserts but staff were apologetic and sorted it immediately once they were made aware.

Riverside lodge was very COVID friendly hand sanitizer dotted around the place ,staff very pleasant and manager Carl is very welcoming have nt tried food but that’s on the menu next as just went for drinks

Another bar/restaurant chosen because it’s dog friendly and what a choice,seating inside and out inside spacious clean and friendly and the meals delicious and huge and I mean huge don’t have breakfast if your going for dinner because you’ll find it hard to finish and they look after the pooch as well

I initially phoned and booked a table for sunday dinne.we sat outside as it was nice and sunny..Carl the manager was very helpful and friendly nothing seemed a bother..the sunday dinner arrived and was 2nd to none..great value and the beef was tender and tasty..as we were both full carl gave us our desserts sticky toffee pudding and custard in takeaway cartons..this was a really nice touch..thoroughly recommend this place for a sunday dinner..nothing was too much trouble..great service and value..highly recommend

First and last time I visit this pub. Unfortunately, the outdoor ‘bar’ wasn’t open therefore I had to go inside. As requested, I waited by the sign and was approached by the manager, surprisingly not wearing PPE. I was taken a back when he kept getting closer and closer, until I had to ask him to respect the 2m distance. Unbelievably, he replied, “I’m Covid free.” At that point I wish I had walked out. I assumed, (like elsewhere,) I would be asked to provide contact details for track and trace, but I wasn’t. Table service was also unavailable, so I approached the bar and was served yet again by a barmaid not wearing a mask. My friend and I sat outside and the, ‘manager’ (with the facial tattoos,) was milling around. He sat down and proceeded to have a very foul mouthed, loud telephone conversation on loud speaker. If this unprofessional ‘manager’ intends to increase business, he’s an expert at doing the opposite. His language was particularly vile, so was that of the person he was talking to. Other patrons seated nearby were clearly unimpressed too. I later entered the pub and he was on loud speaker again, using the same choice language. This kind of manager cannot be trusted to run a pub safely if he says to patrons he is Covid free and assumes that’s all that’s needed. No contact tracing details and no PPE. And the cherry on the case was his foul mouth.

We had lovely Sunday lunches there today, including one veggie option and a child's Sunday lunch. The food was excellent. The staff were very friendly. The chef went out of his way to talk to us and to give my daughter her favourite dessert, despite it not being on the menu! We will definitely be returning.

Having not visited for over a year we decided to try Sunday lunch. Firstly none of the staff were wearing PPE and 3 separate staff members came to our table and reached across in front of us. The same menus were used by everyone. Also shared salt and pepper. We ordered 2 adult Sunday lunches meals and one child, we were then asked to pay upfront which we did. When the food arrived there didn’t appear to be much difference between the adults and the childs apart from there was one slice of meat on the ‘child portion’. We queried it with the waitress who told us it was the child portion. I realised we had been overcharged and had paid for 3 adult meals. The Yorkshire puddings on one of the meals wasn’t cooked so a new one was brought to the table. The ‘Manager’ came to our table and told us we had ordered 3 adult portions which we definitely had not - he wasn’t having any of it and basically called us liars by arguing with us in front of other diners and refused to reduce our bill. The meal included a dessert of either chocolate fudge cake or cheesecake. We were informed at 12.30 that there was no cheesecake left so we could have the fudge cake or ice cream. The food served was below average and we felt very uncomfortable and vunerable with the staff not adhering to any social distancing or facial covering. Before we left we were refunded £5. Apparently they are new people who have taken over - we as a family wont be back. We have eaten out a few times since the government allowed businesses to reopen, everywhere else was spot on with hygiene, PPE and social distancing but definitely not here. Visit at your own risk ☹️.

Travelled from newcastle to get a sundays dinner to be told the veggie option was a plate of veg &for my partner the only meat was turkey & only soup as a starter , no others ,very dissatisfied, may need to look at ur veggie range 🤔

Came here for Sunday lunch with 2 young girls and my husband. Food was amazing, we ordered 2 lunches and 2 smaller portions for the children, thinking back we should have all got small portions as they are more than generous with their servings! The young lady who sat us was so polite and very attentive, gave us a different table than what we had asked for even though when we arrived the restaurant was fairly busy. She took our drinks and food order and within a few minute we received our drinks and food shortly followed. The young man (tall blonde) who served our food was very polite, asking if we would like extra sauce or gravy. The dark haired girl behind the bar had a constant smile on her face and was more than happy to help when we enquired about booking for Xmas Fare!Our first time out for Sunday lunch in a while and we will definitely be back! Can't fault anything about the service or food! Well done Riverside

My sons wedding was here. There were a couple of errors, my meal wasn't cooked but the fantastic venue made up for it

Lovely place to go for a bite to eat in Morpeth. Building itself is accessible; however, the accessible toilet is very small and often has unnecessary items in the way

I never ever have a starter on a sunday ,normally just there gorgeous sun lunch ....but i had prawns and smoked salmon with there sauce and im not kidding when i say ,it was pure heaven !!! The prawns were perfect (sometimes in other places there dry ,or freezeburned) but these were amazing ...No wonder the place was full !! Hats off to the chefs also the amazing servers who were fantastic...i cant recommend enough ..

The new chef has worked his magic, the Sunday lunch was tremendous, the beef as tender as can be with very tasty veg. Additionally I have had a couple mid week meals which were equally as delicious. The sticky chicken is a must!

Visited for lunch with friends. On entry the premisies are dark and dismal. Definitely in need of a makeover. The lighting is poor. The one young man serving was trying his best but seemed a little overwhelmed by having two tables to serve (later three). However the food was top drawer. I understand that the place has new management and a new chef who I have come across previously at other local bar/restaurants. Definitely worth a visit for the quality of the food. Hope the venture suceeds.

Excellent food, nicely presented, chef talented, lots of variety.Spoilt by dark dull surroundings.Come on whoever owns the restaurant you have a potential gold mine here!Surroundings can easily be changed by fresh lick of paint and better lighting.Most certainly will visit again for the food despite the dark surroundingsExcellent value.

Friendly staff and excellent value with small meal option. we enjoyed Sunday Roast with extra Yorkshire pudding. The beef was great with mash,potatoes and swede, roasties with fresh seasonal veg. All in a relaxed open fronted dining room facing the Wansbeck riverside park.

Arrived lunch time, had a look around, fabulous function room. I will bear that in mind! Starter and main course far exceeded expectations! Delicious and good portions, not bad pricing either! I will be back!

Came here for lunch with my sister ,and i cant remember having a more gorgeous meal than this !! I had fish chips and mushy peas ,and the batter was so light !!! Chefs are very friendly ,and barstaff were so attentive .it was our first meal here ,but certainly wont be the last !! Im shocked this place isnt packed out day and night

Sixteen of us went here for drinks on Saturday night. It was a lovely evening so we all sat outside next to the river. A fantastic spot. Drinks are reasonably priced and also friendly staff. A great night.

Temporary meeting venue for meeting of Morpeth Gardening Club. Large function room and extensive bar area. Small carpark.

Called in here when recently in Morpeth. Really like it here as the beer is always spot on and it is always lively. Good friendly service.

We picked this venue as somewhere different to try but was left disappointed. The feel of the place was more like a working mens ckub than pub. There were 4 in our party and all went for the Sunday dinner. I can't fault the service but the food was very average. The portion of meat was small and the amount of veg provides for 4 people was laughable. I asked for no mash but they didn't add extra of anything else to make up for it. We cut our losses and left without trying the pudding menu. We won't be back.

Friday night, 5 people in other than us. No music, no atmosphere. Only a small selection of guns and considering that's very 'in' at the moment, I thought the selection would reflect this.

Two large tables with 'reserved' on them. All other tables and chairs stacked up at side of room. First band due on in ten minutes. People having to put out the tables and chairs themselves. End of the night, 'reserved' tables still empty. Were they just left over from a wedding or something?.

A relative, who frequently eats out, rated this place 5 stars recently and so we decided to give it a go. Good Friday was a beautiful day and inside was cool and inviting. Unfortunately, apart from the friendliness of the staff, that's about the only good things I can mention. At the table we chose I had to exchange all of the seats as the bases on each chair had collapsed leaving no padding at all. The drinks arrived quickly. There were three adults and a young child in the party and we ordered three starters, three main meals and a child's meal. After the starters we waited, and waited, and waited!! As I went to the bar to enquire about our meals they eventually appeared. The fish on the two fish and chips was completely overcooked with the batter dark, very crisp and unappealing. The chips were also dark (5 x cooked??) and greasy. My granddaughter's meal had the same kind of chips and two hot dogs in a dry bread roll. Now she is a connoisseur if chips and even she struggled to eat more than a few!! The mince and dumpling was adequate but nothing outstanding.

Fish, chips, mushy peas, tartare sauce and lemon followed by sticky toffee pudding and ice cream £5.95! All served by a lovely lass with a great smile. Can’t ask for better than that. We were well pleased and very pleasantly surprised. Not a huge menu but very reasonable and extremely delicious. I really can’t fault a thing except to say I was surprised how empty it was for those prices.

Really nice clean place. Not cheap though.

Good quick service, seemed very quiet and no longer has a pool table unfortunately. Nice place to start an evening.

We were a group of nine ladies of a certain age and had our Christmas lunch at a price of £12.95 for a three course meal. We had already organised our meals from the menu prior to our visit. This being the case there was no delay at all in meals being served and the staff couldn't have been better. Not just efficient but made us feel welcome. There was not one complaint from the party and we all left feeling happy. The only thing that I would have liked, as the place was very quiet (except for us talking) was some nice soft music playing.

we had previously visited in October for Sunday lunch which was fantastic generous portions and tender meat so decided to visit again last Sunday 9/12/18 could have used a chainsaw to cut the beef more gristle than a dog's bone won't be back absolutely rank veg was soggy you'd think it had been sat in a bath for a week attitude of the manager Nina who was on her phone and griped when I disturbed her phone call to complain about the meal

Used to pop in here with my children and dogs for food a while back. Went there a few weeks ago and it's changed hands. Dogs are no longer allowed.....along a riverside walk?? Surely they could have a designated area for people with dogs other than outside. It was raining so we couldn't sit outside. Very disappointed. That said, the lady I spoke to was friendly and apologetic....still. I do think I might go back without my dogs (rather leave the kids to be honest 😊) to try out the new menu.

I had never eaten at this restaurant previously but looking at the good reviews, we decided to book in for Sunday lunch. All three of our party opted for the Northumbrian lamb plus trimmings. When it arrived, it was obviously not a fancy plate of food but it was good, honest home cooking. We had a very generous portion of lovely tender lamb, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, mashed potato, swede, carrots, peas, green beans and stuffing. Served with plenty of gravy and mint sauce. The whole meal was lovely, we even decided to have a desert, although all were bursting at this point. Again we all chose the same, hot sticky toffee pudding with custard which was pretty good too. The venue is a little basic but food great, would definitely eat here again.

Having booked a table for nine of us for afternoon lunch, our table was nicely prepared complete with white linen tablecloth.

Went to the riverside lodge for lunch today with my son. The service was excellent, warm and friendly. My sons face when his hot pork sandwich came was hilarious.

Without question one of the best Sunday roasts I’ve ever had. I live abroad so value a good roast more than most and this place didn’t disappoint. You can have a trio of meets but I just went for the beef and lamb. Portion size was amazing, meat really tender, perfect Yorkshire. Some lovely steamed veg on side and all the condiments. Service was also really attentive and the inside has a light modern feel.

So i didnt have the usual time to sit and wait to have Sunday dinner this weekend. So I was offered a take away. I don't really need to say much more than what the photograph shows. Ample sized meal, meat that just fell apart, to die for gravy, veg cooked perfectly. If visiting Morpeth definitely worth a visit for s Sunday lunch

Arrived without booking and given a very warm welcome from manager Paul. I opted for roast beef dinner and my sister opted for a hot roast beef sandwich. Both arrived in a reasonable time. My sister ate the beef before myself and said it was very tender. Have to say I agreed, the best roast dinner in a long time. Cannot fault it on quality particularly in view of price,, believe you me I have paid a lot more for a roast dinner and they didn't measure up to this. Praise where praise due. Will definitely be coming back here again in the not too distant future.

Sunday lunch with family, I had lovely lamb and the turkey was much enjoyed. Very good puddings, fantastic service and a relaxed pleasant atmosphere. Just what we want on a Sunday.
