Take out Fish and chips at their very best! That's almost all that needs to be said. Don't expect to run in grab a bag of chips and run out, my experience is that food is cooked to order. Fish bigger than the dinner plate we put them on and enough chips to feed a family. Absolutely delicious fresh Haddock, such a happy change from the thawed out weeks old frozen dross served by many inner city F&C shops. Not the cheapest (obvs) but recommended without hesitation.

Came here for the lobster and chips at lunchtime. There was 3 of us all gutted because the chips were disgusting, stale and cold must've been from the day before. The cost of the chips was only taken off one of us but we had to pay for the other 2 portions of rotten chips. We were told it was because of the potatoes they used. The lobster and fish were lovely just a massive shame paying nearly 60 quid and having disgusting stale chips.

Lewis’s fish restaurant in gorgeous Seahouses is the place to go if you are looking for a delicious fish supper. You won’t be disappointed as it is simply the best fish and chips I have tasted in the UK. Ordered fish in breadcrumbs for a change, it was so fresh and not greasy or oily at all with its golden crispy coating. Had take away from here, cod & chips, haddock & chips and some onion rings. The onion rings were really good, but the rest I would say was good, certainly not brilliant. We came here last year as well, and I remember it being much better. We did order at peak time, about 6:30pm, then had to wait 30mins for the food. Chips were absolutely fine, but just good not greet. Fish was nice, but a little dry in parts. Didn't seem as fresh and well cooked as last time. I would say avoid peak times, so either go before 5 or after 8pm. Or do the same as me, next time you're in Seahouses try somewhere different.

Friendly staff, nicely decorated and clean. The chips were decent but the fiah: it was not good at all. Mushy in texture, and dense batter, doughy in the middle and solid/ flat in texture. This is a place set up to serve tourists so I do understand the high prices (£42 for x3 F&C', 1 curry, 1 peas, and one large chips), but either we caught this on a bad day, or there is little love in their craft.

Absolutely unacceptable! So this review may only help people with allergies to certain foods. However it left me so flabbergasted, if it helps just one person avoid a severe, life threatening allergic reaction it will be worth it. My son has a severe nut allergy. Just when you start to think, due to current media attention that food establishments may be getting the idea that they need to be on top of potentially life threatening allergens they use and rely these clearly to customers, somewhere like this comes along! No obvious allergen information or warnings in sight and at the end of the day it's a chippy, even those absolutely vigilant with their allergies are unlikely to check for allergens in a simple bag of chips. What a mistake this could turn out to be! My son wanted scampi and as it was a bit different to the regular cod and chips I enquired about allergens. The person serving did not if this was an issue but asked her supervisor who then informed us. "Errrr actually we can't cater for people with nuts as we fry Snickers bars in the same oil as all our other products" There are no words for the reckless disregard of this without displaying clear warnings this practise goes on... Shows a total lack of education around good allergen practise and is not acceptable.

After a cancelled visit elsewhere, on our way home we called into Lion & Lamb @ Horsley for a bar meal. I’ve never called in there before but will definitely be back again. We were made welcome from the moment we walked in and had a choice of where to sit. The food we ordered was absolutely gorgeous, my wife and son had the fish and chips and I had the chicken Parma with garlic and mushrooms, all portions were served with the most delicious chunky hand cut chips and the portion sizes were just right and we all felt that we’d have a decent meal, but unfortunately we hadn’t room left to try any desserts. The service by the staff was first class and they regularly checked everything was to our satisfaction. The waitress especially was so friendly and nothing seemed to be any bother whoever she was dealing with. Finally when it came to the bill, 3 meals + drinks for less than £60 was great value for money. Looking forward to our next visit.
