Good for takeaway sandwiches, awesome flans and pies, lovely looking cakes. Essentially, if you’re looking for normal lunchtime fare, made with good quality ingredients The Pantry is your go to place. The friendliest place we found in Bamburgh. Worth the walk up the hill when you’ve decided against the extreme pretensions of some of the other food outlets.

Everything was fine: We had sandwiches with ham and coleslaw, cheese and mixed pickles, coffee Americano and Mochaccino, a slice of chocolate cake and oat biscuits🍪 -> great deal for our picnic👏🏻👍🏻😋 If you keep the closing time (2 pm) in mind, you’ll get tasty, freshly made products from a friendly lady. 😊 Kind regards from Germany👋🏻👋🏻

Called for a lovely ice cream, the owner was most pleasant, passed the time of day and asked where we were from, the pies looked delicious but wouldn't go with my honeycomb and chocolate ice cream tub, pies or freshly made sandwich on the menu on our next visit.

Awful customer service, rude unpleasant and seems from other reviews this wasn’t a one off! Went it 10 minutes before closing, which isn’t unreasonable, but was met with a very rude aggressive woman who said she wanted to leave work at 14:00 on the dot, in which case she should of closed the shop early, why leave the shop open if you don’t want or can’t serve customers. Bamburgh is a nice friendly place so was shocked at the rudeness of the women here! We went to the butchers for pies instead and then to the copper kettle for cake which were both lovely and Friendly and we were made to feel welcome rather than an annoyance!

Can't believe I actually bought something here after the lady closed the door in my husband's face and said to him sharply "we are closed". People passing were apparently shocked. He was only coming to the door as I was in the queue. Having already listened to a load of moaning and unwelcoming commentary, I can't believe I actually stayed and bought sandwiches there. The others in the queue were equally shocked at her terrible manners. Sandwiches ok, but not worth the hostility to get them. Would never return, even pass the door for fear of being shouted at, and do not recommend. Terrible service, can't understand it when you surely rely on tourism. Still cannot believe I didn't say anything or, at least, walk out. It was actually in May, but I've never forgotten how bad it was, so decided to post this now. Better late than never. Avoid.

Dreadful customer service from the lady who clearly wanted to close at 2pm. Fair enough, but she could have said, sorry I need to close now, rather than making a huge drama out of it and making everyone who was in the queue before 2pm feel unwanted, uncomfortable and basically like something unpleasant she had stood in! Why we all just didn't leave is a mystery, I think we were shocked at just how rude she was. Clearly from the Basil Faulty school of tourism and customer service. Sandwiches were not worth it, after the tirade of unpleasantness her customers were subjected to. Totally unwarranted too. My husband, who was waiting outside, made the mistake of coming to the door to meet me and had the door closed in his face whilst being told "we are closed". Even when i explained it was my husband, she didn't care or apologise. What a vile woman. Avoid this place. I'd rather starve than give them my custom.

This place is a small corner shop with no seating. The food is refreshingly reasonable in price given the Bamburgh tax that seems to exist everywhere else in the village. Made to order sandwiches are the mainstay of the menu, complimented by freshly baked pies, pasties and quiches. Coffee is from a prepared machine but absolutely fine. This is the kind of place where you know the profits are staying with the owners who I've no doubt been served by today. Keep it local and go here. A great little find 👌🏻

I stopped here for lunch after visiting the local castle. It's just up the road from the Copper Kettle and situated right next to the red phone box. It's a small deli run by a couple and serves sandwiches and fresh cakes etc. It's not a cafe so there are no seats and it serves purely take away food.I had a large Cheese and Ham roll with a large slice of passion cake and a latte coffee. Cost just over £7 for the lot. The passion cake was something to die for and much better value that the other place I reviewed situated just 50 yards down the hill. Tried uploading a photo of the place but for some reason not able to do so. However, the place is no difficult to find so travellers will spot it easily.Excellent value for money

I would give this a -4 rating. The owners have a very unpleasant attitude, especially the man. Don't question if they serve vegan options or if crab sandwich comes with salad or you will be screamed at. Felt embarrassed and humiliated, wish i walked out. Had a turkey/coleslaw sandwich, which was mediocre at best. Think they forgot what butter was, didn't taste any, watery coleslaw. Forget any choice of artisan bread, you get a pathetic tiny squashed bap. Worse customer service I've come across, and over priced.

I visited ‘the pantry’ on my trip to Bamburgh with my parents this June. Whilst I am a vegan, my parents are both meat eaters so we went inside. As always with any deli, it’s worth asking if they have anything vegan even if it isn’t on the menu - so I asked the question. Well, the response I got was rude and abrupt as if I’d asked the most absurd question, and then was told ‘we have olives’. As a vegan, I completely understand not all restaurants, or delis cater for vegans but a simple ‘no’ would have been fine. My mum proceeded to order her Turkey and Ham sandwiches, but yet again this service we got was rather abrupt and unfriendly. Both my parents ate their sandwiches later, after I’d found an alternative but their review was that the food tasted bland and was just thrown together. Overall our experience was poor customer service, no vegan options and bland, basic food. My advice would be to explore the other little cafes in the area.

The old adage ‘leave them wanting more’ works fine in the theatre, but lm not sure it makes good business sense for a cake shop. The proprietor was presumably a surgeon in a previous job and has retained her scalpel for cutting the thinnest slices of cake you can imagine. The slice I was given was less than quarter of an inch thick and dried out. At £2 a slice I was hoping for something slightly thicker than a sheet of paper.... give it a miss! .... unless you are on a crash diet of course!

We picked up a couple of sandwiches from The Pantry - roast chicken and cranberry. The chicken was nice enough but it was in a cheap roll and not good value for £2.50. We were a bit alarmed to see the person who served us dip her hands in a bowl of water and dry with a tea towel as the method of cleaning prior to making the sandwiches. Maybe that is OK hygiene-wise but we paused before eating the sandwiches.

Asked for a pasty to be served hot - he put it in the microwave for 1 minute and then took it out after 50 seconds felt it, and gave it t me. One side was hot the other stone cold - binned it - what a waste of space. Also there was a sign saying 5 star hygein but he picked the food up without gloves.

We pass the street and I did look into the shop through the window and spotted some great goods. The entry is behind the corner. The shop was not big, rather small but it offers huge range of delicatessen. Lovely lady asked how she could help us - my reply Thanks, we just wanted to see what you offer. Well this "look around" ended with purchase of 6 cheeses - deli products for about £25. And when we did eat them later (they last about week for 2 of us) we have been delighted with our choice. Next time we will go around Bamburgh - this shop will be definitely one of our stops.

Come in the pantry quite often for there homemade sandwiches which is all butchered meat and fillings made at home. Ice cream in the shop is the best around it's a must try. Also fine selection of cheeses. Julie the owner is very helpful and serves with a smile. Would recommend visiting this shop
