Quaint pub on my parents street. Classic pub, no frills and good prices, highly recommended.

This place has changed, service was disinterested, no Diet Coke, was pointed in the general direction of the fridge. Coffee used to come in a nice cup & saucer with a tiny biscuit. Not worried about the biscuit but I honestly drink coffee at home in a better cup & I don’t get it slung In front of me with a shrug On arriving at my table I find I have no glass for the water, j asked the person cleaning the table if she could get me a glass please, she also seemed fed up & slightly annoyed to be interrupted Meanwhile I’m trying to watch out for my 93 year old mum. Unlikely to be back, not value for money or relaxing & certainly not what I expect from M&S

The best local chippy! Chips are double cooked and were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I also tried a spam fritter and that was great! The batter on the fish was light and crunchy and the fish itself was fresh and flaky, moist and tender. Thank you!

At £28 per person from one of the top hotels in the North East I was expecting a lot better, 4 small finger sandwiches each, 4 scones and small cakes. Not a lot of effort and no selection of desserts cakes and pastries as advertised. I had a flat white which was cold so asked for another and received a cold cappuccino! We had been gifted afternoon tea for 2 as a birthday gift (£56) and so I emailed the hotel to ask if I brought my niece and nephew would I have to buy another two teas and was told no. We were seated and I gave my gift voucher to the staff explained it was two teas. Embarrassingly we were charged £56 for an additional two teas. Also £11 for a glass of wine!! Not recommended at all. Very disappointing.

Really poor service clubhouse was closed someone in the office wasn't interested professional apologised well stocked shop,course was ok wouldn't go back plenty more clubs who actually provide a service.

El hotel era precioso, sin embargo, el restaurante era pobre - no recomendaría. El personal era amable y sí se llevó dos porciones de patatas fritas de la factura debido a los problemas con la comida. La mayoría de las comidas no estaban calientes para cuando llegaron a nuestra mesa. Dos personas tenían el plato de pescado que dijeron que era muy agradable, sin embargo, no venía con muchas patatas en absoluto. El pollo tikka masala no era realmente un pollo tikka masala (más bien pollo tomate) y un plato de pollo diferente estaba realmente demasiado cocinado.

Fish small and batter hard chips cold as were the peas and curry sauce.Have been here before but never again £13 waisted .

I visited Bells for the first time yesterday with my Daughter and Grandson for Mother's day. Luckily, we went before the outside formed! What I can say is, we were served brilliantly and efficiently. The food was simply beautiful. I had the code and chips, my daughter had the scampi, both meals were amazing, everything was perfect. Thank you. The restaurant itself is stunning! Love the hut idea, the toilets are the best I've seen! I was,even amazed by the nod to the mining, with the sculpture in the roof space. Well done everyone and we will be back. X To top it all, my daughter got a potted plant for Mother's Day, a lovely touch. ❤️

Poor service. No acknowledgement at the bar, serving the regulars first. Been lots of times, didn't even bother after waiting that long tonight Shame as it could be good.

The queues are ridiculous now. Too many trolley self service and no basket self service has created major queues. I'll be going to ASDA instead as I just don't have time for these long queues.

Quirky little pub/inn. Possibly the oldest in Barnard Castle. Food was absolutely delicious, highly recommended. Indian, English, Chinese and Lebanese and Thai food available.

I am very disappointed with the visit to the coffee shop, I was served a cake, dry and looked like it was a month old, when I pointed out its freshness, I was served another equally dry one + 2 cubes of butter

Absolutely beautiful fish and chips. Done to perfection. My fish had been battered to exactly how I requested. I thoroughly enjoyed them. Will definitely go back.
