Fish and chips are always great but delivery is unreliable

Fish cooked to order, batter was as I remember it, lovely .. but the fish was none existent, loads of batter with some parts of fish so thin it was "crispy" very disappointing. Chips were tasty but over half very "bitty". Service was very friendly / accommodating, sadly the meal let things down 😟

Food arrived so fast and was red hot! Really good food. Proper fish and chips. Will definitely order again.

Food wasnt great kebab meat was very thick like rubber, garlic sauce was like a jelly texture not very nice tasting, fish had no taste only thing that was ok was the chips

This is absolutely the best takeaway Durham has to offer, great food, great prices, fast delivery. No matter what you get chippy, kebab all the food is great and well cooked. Love ordering from here! £10 well spent including delivery! Nice.

I order from Stanton’s regularly and, as usual, the food was good. Unfortunately it was delivered not than 2.5 hours after I ordered (the original eta was 45-60mins). I asked for an update and a new time was set (which would have made it about 1hr 45 mins), but still no sign. A call to the shop got a fresh order dispatched but it didn’t really help when we’d waited so long.

Good value, large portions. Would recommend.

Been there loads for Friday night fish and chips. Decent price and nice food. Not open at 1am tho! Think it means 3pm on a Wednesday afternoon not 1pm Thursday morning as just arrived now and it's closed.

I always order my fish n chips from stantons , but tonight's order was poor. the fish bites looked and tasted like they had been reheated from the night before, battet was brown and fish was chewy, chips where cold , won't be ordering again

Después de haber esperado casi dos horas para la entrega recibimos nuestra comida. Frío. Las patatas fritas parecían frescas, pero el pescado y la masa de salchicha parecían doblemente cocinados / calentados. Muy mala calidad y nada como solía ser. Rebozado marrón oscuro y pescado seco que eran amarillos alrededor de los bordes. Va a pasar mucho tiempo hasta que usemos Stanton de nuevo. ¡Deben mejorar o perderse!

Nice food battered burger was tasty

£9 for a very small fish don’t think I’ve seen a smaller fish before. The chips were so dehydrated with no substance to them. The curry and chilli sauce was very watery and weak. First and last time ordering for me I think.

Had twice past few months...first time 3 hrs delivery , tonight delivery on time but bland...chips no taste...fish batter was hard underneath...shame as used before and were nice....be interesting if any feedback....

£8.25 for a chicken Parmesan that’s 2cm thick. Whatever they are passing off as chicken is NOT chicken. It was slimey and grey. Zero béchamel sauce. Which I chose. Asked them not to burn the base so they gave me an undercooked one. How any one can cook that and send it out baffles me. Is it so hard to cook it properly. Even cooked properly it looks like really bad meat I’d of not ate it. Slimey like egg white. Pure rotten. StraIght in the bin

Wouldn’t go again. Chips were stale with black bits and fish was watery. They didn’t even get the absolute basics.

Cheesy chips are quite frankly brilliant. Best in Durham. But the service is miserable. They close earlier than they’re meant to and their staff always seem unhappy to be there and even unhappier to serve any customers who dare walk through their doors

The food was beautiful as always, delivered hot and all present and correct. Delivery was perfect, driver always happy and friendly, couldn’t ask for anything else xx

The Antonio's pizza was tasteless and bland. Even the chillies didn't have a kick. I'm still hungry after eating this.

order from here all the time and it's absolutely beautiful can't fault... but TONIGHT! I don't know how you can even think it was acceptable to send food out like that. food was either cold or loop warm chips and sausage looked like they had been sat forver so stale and not eadable the kebab meat had a horrid smell to it. and 1 off the pittas was not cooked properly still doughy in the middle. a lot off food wasted and in the bin. definitely put us off comeing back now.

Great fish and chips, 3 portions fed 4 hungry people, big pot of curry sauce, everything was hot and delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Got to admit Stanton’s definitely knocks some nice food up. Wasn’t keen before but it’s improved loads and I order a lot more than I used to. Lovely peri peri chicken burger. Chips r lovely now fish and chips is nice. Nice fish cake nice sauces. Burger r bangin. Lovely

Delicious and very reasonably priced

I'm a regular customer at Stantons - and they usually deliver during the expected window or a few minutes earlier. Fantastic food as always, will definitely be ordering again!

The fish was delicious and the chips were gorgeous like proper chips and I also ordered the curry sauce and it was proper Chinese curry sauce absolutely unbelievable!! Defo will be ordering from here again!! And even got some scraps thank you so much

I krder from here once in a blue moon hoping it gets nicer. But never does. Curry sauce tasted sour like it was out of date burger dry as sticks asked for burger sauce it came dry! And definitely heated up in a microwave everyone knows lettuce wilts in the microwave and that’s how the lettuce was. Gave the whole order to the dogs. Mingin

Haven’t had Stanton’s since I was a kid and I thought it would be the same , deeply disappointed , greasy , not very nice and clearly not under the same management . Even the curry sauce was rank , this was cooked by someone who doesn’t know what fish and chips taste like

Food was good as usual, except delivery was made with garlic sauce instead of the requested chilli sauce- was not in the mood to wait / chase up for a tiny refund.

Very slow delivery, took over 2hrs. Parmesan was burnt underneath.

What s#it was I served tonight, fish n chips £9 and (cheese poppers £5.60 these are over priced when I could get plated and garnish.) Not p#ss off with price. Fresh chip were ready and I was severed last weekend cardboard chips. Fish didn't favour much better. At least the curry I enjoyed, shame I didn't order more instead of fish n cardboard. Care and a little bit of quality missing.

Ordered on a recommendation. Ordered at 5:45, delivered at 8. I understand with the weather and they were a driver down it takes time but they should have stopped online orders if that is the case. I had to ring twice to find out where my order was. No apology, just stated it was on its way twice. Food arrived luke warm, didn't have the energy to complain again. The fish was quite greasy, and the chips were nice after reheating. Won't go back to be honest.

Ordered a large chips and the portion size could have been a kid's meal. Also when the delivery driver turned up he called one of our female colleagues "hard work" and thought it was appropriate to intentionally touch her hip when passing over the food. Absolutely disgusting behaviour, will not be coming back. A shame because the food itself was quite nice.

Stanton’s has always been a family favourite. Tonight was a real trip down memory lane. Food is still spot on and the staff here are very nice. Highly appreciated thank you.

The order took over 1 hour 30 minutes to deliver even tho I only live 5 minutes away, the kebab meat in my burger was freezing cold and solid the same as the actual burger pattie, chips well you ask for larger, pay for large then get half a little tray absolutely disgraceful been honest. A would have given this place zero stars if it was possible. Would definitely recommend you go else where to get food

They were a bit cold this time guys chips weren’t as good as last time either very bitty no chunky no ones like last times …. Fish was brilliant though couldn’t fault it … just could have been hotter … don’t know if they had a couple of drops before us maybe as they were hot last time !

Terrible customer service just because ordered online and already had payment and they have the money they are not bothered how long it takes and if hot the woman on phone had terrible customer service skills and will never order from here again driver turned up wouldn't wait to see what state food was in and he drove away pure ignorance 0 out of 5 all food went in bin £30 down the drain

I'm confused. I ordered from here about a month ago and the food was banging! Solid 5 out of 5. Thought I'd have a treat today after a long shift and got cold, stale chips. One portion with a nice black hair in it, along with Luke warm curry. £15 for 3 chips n curry it wants to be top notch. Too hit and miss for me won't be back ever. Consistency is key in the food industry.

Stopped by on a long overdue visit from London and these are proper fish and chips! Friendly service, good value, great taste!

Ordered an office take away delivery, I had fish and chips, with mushy peas. The fish was lovely, thick white cod, just right batter, the chips were lovely old fashioned chips. Would recommend. Nice generous portion, would recommend, no negatives .

* never have I wrote a bad review but felt like for the first time I have to* fish size was tiny chips not fresh batter was terrible, mushy peas legit like kids play dough. Nothing nice about the food at all 0/10 No one wearing gloves while preparing food. Won’t be going back anytime soon

Went for our supper. Nobody behind the counter, although we could hear conversations in the area out of sight. Another party of three came in and walked back out when nobody came to serve. We shouted a couple of times for somebody to come. Nobody did. So shop lost five sales in the space of five minutes. Was always our favourite chippy. We will never go again, nor will we recommend.

My go to fish and chip shop. Always tastes beautiful, good quality fish and reasonably priced… although the fish is usually very greasy as you can see from the box… but hey it still gets devoured!🐟.

Got chips ....they looked and tasted like they had been on a weeks holiday ....dried up and rock hard .totally inedible.

Ordered food at 8:09pm. On a Tuesday night. 10:10pm rang up as had not received food. Was told “I’m sorry good is out with Driver and will not be long” I said I would like to speak to the manager as 2 hour wait is beyond a joke. Was told manager is not in I will have to ring tomorrow. 10:50pm still no food… Rang again and was told my order was cancelled as I wanted to speak to the manager. I never cancelled order and am now sat in the house £20 down and no food. Person on the phone was rude, lied and couldn’t be arsed. Wouldn’t recommend, won’t think twice about using in the future.

Bought food at teatime today. Chips tasted dry fish without batter over cooked sausage over cooked. Poor. Will not go again.

Called in for a fish supper for home, there was a lengthy wait for it cooking but I wished I hadn’t bothered, there wasn’t a great deal of fish once I got through the batter, which wasn’t that nice & even the couple of chips I ate before heading home were barely luke warm, do yourself a favour & buy a sandwich from Tesco express instead, you’ll be pleased you did!

If I could give you a zero, I would, but that's not possible, so I give you... A 1. My friend and I got kicked out (she's Asian and I'm not British) while my British friend was allowed in. My British friends boyfriend (who's Asian) came in and kissed her on the cheek and the women who served her completely changed their attitude and got cold and rude straight away. Honestly the worst experience I've ever had and the rudeness and obvious racism experienced was awful.
