The best restaurants serving British food in North East

Had been frequent visitors here but stopped going after experiencing poor/non-existent service over a series of visits. Decided to give it another go and booked for Sunday lunch. Out of season it was busy but not rammed and there seemed to be plenty of staff. We went straight for the Sunday lunch which came quickly and was excellent. Everything was hot and well-cooked and portion was generous. We followed the meal with crème brûlée and compliments to the chef - he/she had totally nailed it - it was delicious. The service throughout was good with none of the problems we’d experienced in the past when we had been left waiting nearly an hour between courses. I have taken one star off though as we had to chase to order coffee - in the end I got up and stopped a waitress to ask for it. Overall a big improvement on previous experiences and we’ll certainly try it again.

Fabulous Chai Latte, outstanding small plates with lots on offer. Wonderful setting and atmosphere. Cosy and inviting.

The experience was great. The only reason I hadnt come back more often is because back in 2021 we came and my buddy had gotten spiked while in the eagle so it wasn't a place we had trusted too much since then but we heard it got better so we gave it a shot and it was fantastic. Seemed like there were more eyes on the room etc.

This place has got it right 'so few do' A tight efficient hardworking team producing nice food at good prices in a pleasant environment without long waits.

I had the worst lemon top ever! I’ve tried lemon tops from other vendors in Redcar, Saltburn, and Whitby, and they were all outstanding. They featured the perfect blend of sweet, velvety vanilla ice cream paired with deliciously sharp lemon sorbet. However, this lemon top tasted like a washing-up liquid. It was a melting mess that left a lasting bitter aftertaste. My partner had to throw theirs in the bin because the taste made them gag.

Reservamos el té de la tarde para celebrar el cumpleaños de mi madre. Todos estábamos tan decepcionados en el servicio y la comida. Los sándwiches eran viejos, los pasteles pesados y robustos. Los camareros y camareras eran escasos y tendríamos que ir a la recepción de abajo para encontrar un miembro del personal que nos atienda cada vez. En general, no recomendaría y no vale la pena su dinero.

Santa experience and coffee shop. Santa experience was amazing with a wonderful walk through toy land ending with a sleigh ride and Santa visit. Then a coil to choose a toy from a shop full of a wide variety of good quality toys. We then had a gingerbread latte and festive sandwich which was delicious. Staff are lovely and prices reasonable. It's been a magical day for our boy

Bought the Smoked Kippers via their website and simply delicious for breakfast! I will certainly be ordering more in the future!

Me and my husband went here on Monday 7th April 2025 and had cod and chips which was ok then we went to shop and I got quiche salad to take to work on that night and when I started to ate it I noticed the quiche was very watery and did not look nice that night I have been really poorly with holding both ends and had to take a day off work will not be back that is for sure
