Santa experience and coffee shop. Santa experience was amazing with a wonderful walk through toy land ending with a sleigh ride and Santa visit. Then a coil to choose a toy from a shop full of a wide variety of good quality toys. We then had a gingerbread latte and festive sandwich which was delicious. Staff are lovely and prices reasonable. It's been a magical day for our boy

Good quality coffee and a large pot of tea to accompany our food. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the staff were smiling and attentive. Will absolutely be back again.

This was my second visit to Red Fox garden world as the plants are well grown there. We decided to call into the cafe and we grabbed a fruit scone each, we were asked if we would like it warmed up and we did, it came with jam and clotted cream, the coffee's we had were lovely as well as the gorgeous scones. I asked if they are freshly baked on site and they are a rare talent these days. The breakfast that were coming out looked absolutely delicious 😋 and so I shall have to go back and experience a breakfast and a lunch too, but not at the same time ha ha.

After witnessing some disgusting behaviour today I will never step foot in this place ever again… how I never said anything I don’t know!! The owner screamed at a young female member of staff infront of numerous customers, the way he spoke to her was terrible, I dread to think what goes on daily, he is nothing but a bully and I hope the mother of this young lady knows her daughter is being spoken to like this!! She would have only been about 17 maybe 18 absolute disgrace!!!

I like cheese scones and would select a cheese scone rather than a piece of cake. Redfox should not serve cheese scones that are not fresh. A really unpleasant experience. The scone was not edible.

For a start the reply’s from the staff at red fox on this site are so rude , people have given their views and given an honest opinion of the experience they had at Red Fox and just like the members of staff serving, the reply’s to our comments are so rude , I haven’t come across a friendly person serving on my recent visits. Recently I have found the food to not be as good as in the past, the cheese scones we had crumbled and so you could not butter them, the portions of the cake are the tiniest I have ever seen not that I’d want them bigger as they are mostly like cardboard, the price of a portion of greasy chips is unbelievable. They tell you in an unfriendly way to clear your table before you leave, what’s that about ? Aren’t the staff there and paid to do that ? They charge top cafe prices after all so at the prices they charge I’m not going back, in future I’ll go somewhere that doesn’t expect me to clear tables after my meal ! I have spent a lot of money here over the years but given how unfriendly the staff are now I won’t be going back , they really don’t deserve my hard earned money , the food and service have really slipped, it is the the worst customer service and dining experience I’ve ever had with pricy food and in my experience not even that nice. There is friendlier places near by, I will stick to going to them places.

Visited here many times and it's always been first class. Today we visited and it was a limited menu due to kitchen been closed. Myself and my husband had a beef sandwich which wasn't worth the price. Our nephew had a children's box priced 4.49 and consisted of a small ham sandwich with margarine, an aldi carton of apple juice, an aldi packet of cheese puffs, a tiny aldi yogurt which would be fed to a weaning baby and a small bruised apple. The girl on the till needs lessons in customer service she never cracked a smile taking my order and other customers were heard commenting on her lack of people skills. Will not be back.

On Saturday myself and my mother had lunch here. The menu is very good, the quality of the food is good and the portion size is good. It is a very pleasant place to visit. Our food was actually very nice. We sat at the front and could clearly see over the food counter. Our lunch was totally spoil however, after witnessing a shocking and systematic lack of food hygiene. We witnessed one member of staff preparing food orders with bare hands, her hands went from picking up cakes, then pies, then salad, then crisps, then bread, all one after another, each time holding the food directly with her bare hands, in between rubbing her hands on her trousers, then through her hair, then adjusting her glasses. There was no observance at all of any standard of hygiene. Cross contamination between all different food items was repeatedly carried out, this was also the case with hot and cold food, hot food was prepared from a grill, the sandwiches were then pressed down with bare hands. We were stunned and shocked at witnessing this. We assumed this was only one person, then we witnessed another staff member doing the same thing! Clearly this is systematic and that is the standard there. If this had been witnessed by a food inspector there would have been serious repercussions. It is a simple and hygienic approach to have tongs and spatulas dedicated to different foods, and to have disposable gloves and paper to handle different foodstuffs, and at different areas. Please can you feed this back to the restaurant staff and request they follow simple steps to ensure good hygiene and avoid cross contamination between foods before serving food to customers. This is a lovely little place but the hygiene standards really do have to change. Yours sincerely.

We visited today to see Santa as the website said Santa was there all day, when we arrived we were told he wasn’t there until 1pm. We asked if we could view the grotto as we have visited in previous years and know the layout is quite big. We were rudely told no. We then decided to have a drink and watch the kids on the soft play as we had traveled a way to get there. We were told by an unfriendly large blonde lady that was ok. We ordered 8 drinks and a sandwich the kids were playing nicely on the soft play, other disappointed families joined us as they too had cow. To see Santa like the website said. A very rude short man came and told the kids to get off the soft play as it wasn’t open he was putting it down. There were around 10 adults watching and he didn’t address any of us just the kids, I wonder if it was because they were more his height?! We all got off and as soon as we were off he put it down, people walked away and he put it back up! Strange man. I understand maybe Santa wasn’t there but the website stated he was, nobody was apologetic, we had 4 excited kids ready to see the big man and nobody gave a damn. Not one member of staff smiled during our time there, nobody was happy and they were all rude. I think Santa has put them on the naughty list! Don’t worry a 5 minute ride away and you get to Mr Twisters! Very friendly staff no Santa but full of festive cheer!

On my way back home after a holiday, I decided after not having time for breakfast to stop at Red Fox for a coffee and scone. Travelling with my little dog I popped him in the trolley in his basket. On reaching the cafe I checked on the entrance for a "No Dogs Allowed" sticker, none visible and knowing dogs were allowed in the rest of the garden centre I walk in and took a seat at the very bottom of the cafe. Staff were obviously aware the dog was there and said nothing. Ordered a coffee and scone and sat down. When I had just about finished Shaun (the owner/manager) came over and said I wasn't allowed to have the dog inside and I would have to go sit outside (in the cold) with him. I was so embarrassed as people were looking at me. I finished and left and asked to speak to him. I explained that I wasn't aware dogs weren't allowed as there was nothing on the cafe entrance stating that. He said he was told he did not have to have a notice and that visitors knew dogs weren't allowed. Clearly not as I was unaware. He said health and hygiene only guide dogs were allowed. So I learnt today that guide dogs don't have the same germs as other dogs. He said dogs aren't allowed in any establishment serving food, again lack of awareness. I said a simple sticker would have saved us having to have the conversation. To that he answered he was gonna ban dogs from the whole garden centre. I told him I was going to put a review on TripAdvisor, he said ok, I said I wouldn't be shopping there again, he said ok. Not quite sure where this guy gets his customer service skills but I certainly think after hearing several people speak about his attitude and reading reviews about him, he definitely needs to learn some new ones. He must think he has something special that people can't get elsewhere to be addressing people the way he does. That will definitely be the last opportunity to speak to me like that.

We have been going to this restaurant almost weekly since it opened. We have seen the decline over this time. The tables don’t get cleared often enough and customers have to pile the last persons dishes onto another table before they sit down. The food now is simply awful. We went for Sunday lunch this week. I had a child’s portion because I don’t rate the food. All I could eat on my plate was the mashed potato and the mashed turnip. The gravy was full of lumps, the roast potatoe were soft on the outside and not cooked in the middle. The cabbage was stringy and the carrots tasteless. I don’t eat Yorkshire pudding anyway so the only other thing was a tiny piece of turkey. I sometimes have the soup and despite asking for my bread bun not to be heated up in the microwave it always is. Thus rendering it inedible. The crust is so hard it’s I posible to bite into and inside is like rubber. The young girls they employ have no training, this is obvious. They need more adult staff and a new chef. After visiting regularly since they opened, we will not be going back. There are other garden centres I. The area that are properly run and they will get our business from now on.

If you’re ever road tripping on I 80 driving from Lake Tahoe to SLC don’t pass by Elko without grabbing lunch or dinner at The Coffee and Mug. This place is a nice size with a lot of comfortable booths and 4 top tables. I had the tuna melt with coleslaw and my husband had their Philly Cheese Steak with fries. We were both very happy with our meals. I tried some of his fries and they were good but I would have preferred thinner and crispier and that’s the reason for the four instead of 5. This place was super clean and the wait staff was so friendly - makes you want to move to a much smaller town where everybody knows your name:) Oh and btw we couldn’t pass up a slice or two of their homemade pies: so many choices it was hard to decide but I ended up choosing the butterscotch (heavenly) and hubby went with blueberry pie. I recently had sunday lunch here for the first time with my family. It was extremely busy as it is such a popular place. You can eat inside or outside. The meat was a bit tough, however the rest of my lunch was really nice. I ordered pork and the rest of my family ordered turkey. Sadly the waitress did not know which was which!..There were no glasses left so my Mother had a coke in a paper cup. As it was so lightweight, she sadly ended up spilling it all over herself. She had barely taken a sip. We were not offered a refill, despite it all ending up on the floor!..I enjoyed the Peach Yoghurt Frappe. The selection of cakes is very nice. The plants and selection of goods is really good in this garden centre, and we purchased a lovely solar powered water fountain, which we have never seen elsewhere. The prices are certainly more reasonable here than in other garden centres.

weve Visited red fox on a few time but after today I think it’s going to be a while before we return. We first of all had to clear our table, then waited ages for a cup of coffee we had already eaten our food my husband then asked to see the “manager” he came over to us my husband was just about to say it’s not the girls fault for the delay but he didn’t give him a chance he threw £20 at my husband and walked away. Didn’t ask what the problem was (it was not the food) if we wanted our money back (we did not) he needs to go back and learn some people skills my husband handed the £20 the the girls for a tip I hope they got it

Omg what can I say we visited today and didn't know what food to choose as there was so much and it all looked fabulous. My hubby opted for pie which was home cooked and the deepest pie I've ever seen. I opted for quiche and all I can say is omg. My nephew chose a child's meal and everything came with hand cut chips. We loved this place so much we left with scones quiche and cheesecake to take home. Highly recomended absolutely amazing.

Took my mam and sister for Sunday lunch today.....our 1st visit to the coffee shop. We all had roast beef and all the trimmings.....it was absolutely delicious! Huge portions too.....and for £7.99 a head...bargain! There was a lovely selection of cakes and pastries, we chose to take ours home. Top marks to the friendly staff, they make SUCH a difference......we'll definitely be back!

Bit disappointed when we got there they had stopped serving food a full hour before they close. Cake was ok, they do offer a gluten free option which is good. Not the cheapest place in the world.

Visited with 5 adults, 3 toddlers & 2 babes in arms. Really good food, pleasant surroundings and fantastic value at the Narnia tour with train simulator. We had been to Christmas train at Stanhope the day before and this is far better value for money....

Three generations of the family visited Redfox for the Christmas Fayre, a visit to Santa and the new train ride and an impromptu lunch. Since last going in the restaurant it has increased massively in size which was definitely needed as the old version was small. Regardless of the size it was still full to the brim and we had to wait a few minutes to get a table. Whereas other visits have been quiet as we visited at non peak times this visit reminded us of a noisy canteen. The food, 2 x fish and chips meals, a jacket potato and beans meal, a child’s picnic box and a steak pie, mash, pie and gravy were all really nice apart from my husbands ‘lumpy’ mash and ‘lack of gravy’. It isn’t the cheapest place for a meal but apart from the expected busy time of day and the lumpy potatos it would have been a five star visit. The restaurant is clean, the staff work non stop and it deserves to be a success, and we will keep going back.

Our visit again to this coffee shop did not disappoint,we all had are chosen drinks a pot of tea a large latte a large Americano .plus a bacon sandwich , a small fish and chips and a fruit scone, all were delicious. The coffee shop has just had an extension build making it much more roomy and spacious, which I'm sure will be of benefit especially on the run up to Christmas with all the extra visitors coming to see Narnia and Santa.

Once again we had our lunch here and we could not fault it ,the only thing I would have to complain about is the coffee.the cups are the smallest we have ever had and the prices are higher,so now we have tea instead of coffee maybe they should look at other places to compare price and size

We always judge a coffee shop on here quality of the fruit scones and this place does not let you down, massive, right amount of sugar and plenty of fruit. The cheese ones are very good as well. The coffee is the best around and the same price as other places just unlike a previous comment ask for the right size : ) the other types of cakes are also of excellent quality and the bacon sandwiches are very good, make sure you get a loyalty card, well worth it as you will be back again. Oh and must mention the friendly staff, very helpful.

My second visit to this popular eatery.... the home made lasagne was to die for with salad coleslaw and garlic bread very reasonably priced at £6.95 good value. Parner had the home made pie chunky chips.... the only comment and an observation that the chips were limp... maybee a variety of potato?? On the whole exellent. I cant understand other reviews saying its over priced!!!! they should try some department stores to see how expensive they are.

We'd been looking for ornamental garden pebbles and a blue flowering bush but couldn't resist coffee, orange juice and cheese scone. We'd left this visit until the day after a bank holiday and it was reasonably quiet. For some reason the nursery and the restaurant make us both feel relaxed hence the reason for going back. Standards were as good as always and left us feeling hungry looking at the gorgeous cliche and pies on display.

We ventured out today for our seasonly visit to the amazing Red Fox to purchase excellent standard plants and superb garden furniture. During this visit, we decided to have lunch for the first time in the coffee shop within the facility. The decoration was superb and the staff were lovely but we were shocked at the price of the cuisine and drinks. I consumed the mince and dumplings (which was excellent) and my husband had the breakfast wrap (which was okay) but my mother and aunt decided on the ham and vegetable soup which, for the price: was in a very small bowel; tasted very salty and it was strained so there was hardly any ham or vegetables present. In addition, we all ordered a 'regular' coffee (again very expensive) and, upon the waitress serving these drinks, we all looked at each other thinking they had made a mistake as the lattes were the size of an espresso cup. So, overall, today was a lovely experience at Red Fox consisting of a lovely café facility with delightful staff but, certain meal and drinks portion size, accompanied by the excessive cost, was a disappointment.

Called in to have a wander round the garden centre after hearing good reviews from friends. Decided to call in for a coffee. Very pleasant surprise, had a lovely latte each and opted for the sharing platter which included pâté, pork and egg pie, chutney etc for £12.99 which we think is reasonable. Nice comfortable seating with pleasant and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend and we plan to return soon.

I am tempted not to publish this because the meal was so good and the waiting staff so supportive. Real value for money. Great Food and a reasonable price. A great little treat and it supports the kids. What is not to love. A brilliant meal one of the best I have had with very attentive staff. Brilliant. Well done.

Table booked for 7.30pm. Pub very messy, no carvery left. Told a 45 minute wait for food. Cued at bar, staff member very friendly and helpful. I asked if they had any chicken dinners left, she said not sure, I'll check. She asked another staff member who listed things not available (chicken not among them). So I ordered 2 dinners and 2 drinks. 15 minutes later staff member came over to say no chicken dinners so had to re-order. Staff member not really bothered when I complained. Still waiting for food, not impressed! Won't come again!
