Pacittos in Redcar and Cleveland

I’m 61 and been going here few times a year since I was a little girl . It’s never changed and is as popular as ever. If yr ever in Redcar it’s def worth having one

Lemontop what a Legend and still as good as when i had one Many moons ago. Great staff and a very good price. you dont evert have to wait to long as the service to each customer is always Important to every staff Member .

Due to the quality of of the coffee we have not been into Pacitto’s for years, but fancying an ice cream we called in on a very hot summers day and got a nice surprise. The ice cream was as good as it’s always been but they now have a proper espresso machine, and what a difference.

I was on a work trip to Redcar and decided to pay a visit to Pacitto for one of their famed lemon tops! It’s such a simple idea but not heard of in the Essex town where I’m from. Vended vanilla ice cream topped with vended lemon sorbet. Absolutely delicious and that mix of refreshing and creamy! I even had a lovely chat with one of the Pacitto family who told me the history of the shop and how it’s remained a Redcar landmark for over 100 years! A must experience if you’re in the area.

We love the ice-creams here! Open until 8pm first week in June which was great, as lots of other places on seafront seemed to close up early (fish & chips etc), even though it was a lovely evening mid-week. Nearly £10 for 2 ice-cream cones (1 waffle, but no flakes or sprinkles) and a child tub of strawberry ice-cream, so prices are rather high we think! But a special treat when we visit the seafront. And we do think this is the best soft scoop ice-cream around. Beware it melts fast! so eat quickly - which shouldn't be a problem :-)

First time here inside and on a sunny busy day was fairly quiet inside so got a seat,prices what you expect from a seaside area menu ok,decor looks dated inside and bottom of table base full of old food needs a clean desperate doesn’t look good for hygiene and with newer eateries close by all are modern and inviting need to revamp also no toilets available ,i thought every cafe has to provide public toilets or where do the staff go,service good but young girls more interested looking in mirror and gossiping.food and drinks where very good though,may return if passing area.

Today as it was a lovely day we visited Redcar and called in to Pacitto's for Apple pie & Ice cream my favourite, the staff were really pleasant and helpful and the Apple Pie was the best I've ever eaten. The pastry was crisp and tasty and the apple was cooked perfectly, not too mushy, add to that the creamiest ice cream and it's enough to make you want to visit again. We have eaten there before but this was our first but hopefully not our last dessert.

It’s a little dated inside now but the ice cream is quality enjoyed a marshmallow hot chocolate too. It’s known locally as the place to go for ice cream if you’re in the area. The town doesn’t have a lot to offer now but I had day trips as a child so enjoy a look through when I’ve the chance

I came to pacittos for 2 lemon top ice creams and flake in both and sprinkle for 6.50 . On walking to seats near the see wall one of corners snapped. Poor quality cornet. Also the staff are more interested in the money. Did not ask Do you want a tissue with ice cream and no considerable on.pricewad given for a replacement. Stay away from this seller customer service poor.

This is the best ice cream parlour in the world hands down, we come back time and time again. Their ice-cream is so creamy and delicious, 100x better than any whippy ice-cream from a van. You cannot say you have had a lemon top (a proper lemon top) if you haven’t had it at Pacittos.

Fast service, great value for money portions, came to try the lemon top yesterday, loved it so much came back again today, this time went for the chocolate top! Both were fantastic, very tasty, will definitely be back on our next trip!

Bizarre staff attitude. Went for a family treat and was told at the door to take a seat. The waitress came over shortly afterwards to take our order and just assumed that we knew what we wanted which was kind of difficult as there was no menu to be seen anywhere. Once a lot of back and forth between us was sorted out and the waitress was out of the way the service was quick but half way through our food a different waitress turned up and effectively demanded that we pay there and then. I asked her if we could pay when leaving as we were in the middle of eating but she said no and stood awkwardly waiting. I gave her cash and she returned with my change but no explanation for the bizarre attitude and odd behaviour. It was all a bit weird, so much so we left perplexed. I won’t be returning.

On Sunday afternoon about 3pm we went to Pacittos on the seafront for two cups of tea and a toasted tea cake we were told that they weren’t doing hot food now my husband wanted to leave as had wanted the toasted tea cake but clearly not doing “hot food” I saw apple pie and he decided to have that with ice cream the girl asked did he want it warming up he said yes surely that now makes it “ hot food “ so surely if they can warm up apple pie they can toast a tea cake I said that’s hot food but the girl didn’t respond . Think I mite think very hard about going again obviously it was too much trouble to slice open a tea cake put it under a grill and toast it but warming up an slice of apple-pie and adding ice cream wasn’t mmm 🤔

Went purely to try the Lemon top. Does not disappoint. Very tangy lemon sorbet and lovely ice cream. Will definitely go again. Fair to say the indoor cafe on the front needs some TLC.

I drove for 2 hours and spent a night in a hotel just so I could visit Pacitto and try their Lemon Top. Well worth it. The two young ladies and gentlemen who served me this morning were beyond accommodating. The surroundings were clean. No customer toilets but did not need. Customer seating available at the seafront shop - I noticed another Pacitto on the high street. I’ve had granita in Sicily and this lemon top is the closest thing I’ve had outside of Sicily since. Im so pleased to have found it. I’ve read it’s been a local, family business for almost 100 years. I wish them continued success for the future for delivering such an exceptional quality dessert at a reasonable price. Thank you.

On a remarkably sunny afternoon in September! we decided to go to the beach for a walk on the sand. Of course it's not a proper day out at the beach without fish & chips for lunch and then later on a yummy ice-cream cone from Pacittos. It cost us just over £5 for 2 ice-cream cones; 1 infamous lemon top and 1 chocolate waffle cone with flake. The ice-cream was delicious as always Service was friendly and there was only 1 person in front/behind me in queue (mid-week). We definitely recommend for a tasty ice-cream treat.

We visited for my birthday as a treat, lovely ice cream but the attitude of the young woman who served us was terrible. She was very rude and abrupt, maybe she was having a bad day but that doesn’t excuse her attitude.

great place but staff are underpaid 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 least you could do is give them a slight raise, the staff there are so lovely and welcoming and hardworking. Everytime I go in there I get the best service 😊😊😊 asked them how much they get paid an hour out of interest for my niece and was shocked !

Not all of our order arrived. Had to ask where rest of it was. Staff member walked off. Ended up asking for money back for food that didn't arrive. Was refunded wrong amount. Staff member who had walked off from me had to then deal with thd refund. Terrible manner. I asked who I should contact to complain. She told md she didn't know. Eventually she gave me a name but no contact details. Overall this was a very disappointing experience. I have visited previously and it was lovely. I won't be going bCm now after today's experience.

What more is their to say than Pacitos Lemon Tops are the best. Smooth sweet creamy ice cream topped with a tangy lemon flavoured sorbet. Perfect dessert after fish and chips, or even just on its own.

The Pacittos Lemon-Top was a thing of beauty when I was a kid here in the 60's/70's. I'm very pleased to hear that it's still available. On my next trip back to Britain, it's on my bucket-list of 'things-to-do'. Soft white ice-cream base with a more icy lemon ice-cream on top. Hmmmmm.

Lovely tasting ice cream with a quick and efficient service on the sea front. Lemon tops are amazing and the lemon flavour is so tangy and tantelising. Big selection of cones and tubs at super cheap prices compared to a lot of places these days!

First time back at Pacittos since the easing of lockdown. Simple tea and toasted tea cakes very nice as usual.

I come back to Redcar just for a lemon top from here. Literally nowhere else comes close to their quality and the staff are always super friendly too.

I always come to Pacittos as it was one of the main ice cream shops in Redcar. Customer service isn't the best but you can't complain once you get your ice cream. Lemon top is one of the most traditional foods in Redcar, and you really can't go wrong with it. Loads of different types of ice cream, some snacks and some lunch if you're feeling peckish. Great establishment, can't beat it.

THE place for ice cream and the famous lemon top in my opinion. Been here for many years. Either eat in or take a away. Do hot drinks and some hot meals e.g. jacket potatoes too.

If you love ice cream this is the place to to. It's been here years and hopefully many years to come. Personal favourite is lemon top but so many different choices.

Mediocre ice cream. Customer service was appalling. Very rude and overly priced. Would not recommend to any seaside visitors. I prefer now Whitby to Scarborough.

Three adults and three children decided on ice creams. Two adults and two children went into the cafe, asked if they were still open and told yes. I said we'll order our ice creams and coffees now and the other adult and one child will be coming in a few minutes. We got our order but when the other adult and child arrived, they were told that the cafe was closed and not allowed in. We were told that they could go outside and wait in the horrendous queue to get ice creams and would not be allowed to eat them inside but sit outside. I asked them if they could get the ice creams from the counter hatch (one step away from the main counter and give them the money, they said no you'll have to go outside and wait in the queue. Four inside, two outside, when we were told they were not closing. Doesn't seem fair to me but obviously they weren't interested in customer relations. Never again.

Very good ice cream. not a bad price. i decided to try this place. it was not to busy and i did not have to wait to long. i asked for the well known lemon top. i handed over . i wished the owner or manager a good day. it would have been nice had he said thank or told me to also have a good day. he was GRUMPY . Customer service it lacks and the manager only seems to want to get you to part with your cash. such a shame that bad manners and no real welcome was given or shown to customers. But it was a lovely lemon top and the cone was lovely but i can only give the 3 stars to the fantastic ice cream,, i would have given 5 stars but bad manners i do not like and that is what cost the manager a glowing review.

If you hav'nt tried a lemon top from Redcar's famous PACITTO'S i had one on wednessday WOW it was absolutley gorgeous,creamy white ice cream topped with a tarty lemon top great combination.

This is a lovely ice cream parlour, however this time we queued up for a take away. There was a large queue, however the staff were not in the least put out by this. Everyone was served with a smile and because of this customers waited patiently. The staff were happy and were pleased to serve you. The ice creams were the usual delicious lemon tops except that my grandaughter asked if she could have all lemon top and that is what she received. We always visit Pacittos when we go to Redcar and sometimes that is the reason that we do go from Middlesbrough.

I love 6000 miles away and still come here for a lemon top. May I recommend a medium tub with lemon and a flake. They are around £3 - and well worth the money. They are delicious.

The manager needs to get down from his perch and treat his customers with a bit of respect. He was a jumped up tool. Also what sort of establishment does not accept card payments. Pathetic.

Visited Pacittos today for ice cream and drinks as we have many times previously. We had purchased fish and chips from a neighbouring shop to have with these. However, shortly after we got seated outside, and after having bought the drinks, we were rudely confronted by the owner who told us we couldn’t sit there and asked us to leave on the basis that other customers “don’t like the smell of fish and chips whilst eating their ice creams” - clearly a very poor excuse for the simple fact that he didn’t want us to eat food not purchased from them on their premises (which I would understand had we not have purchased anything from them, but in fact we had, and were paying customers of Pacittos). He was extremely rude and told us to leave, before storming off back inside. Not only were we shocked and appalled at how he had spoken to us, but the other customers sat on the surrounding tables commented on how rude he had been. One lady even went so far as to say how she was enjoying the smell of the fish and chips. Why would anyone complain about the smell in any event given the location, being a seafront ice cream shop at the SEASIDE with a sea salt smell from the beach?!? I have NEVER written a trip advisor review, however, I am so appalled at the disgusting attitude of this man that I feel this has warranted my first one. We have been here many times before but sadly, will not return. There are many FRIENDLY ice cream shops/cafes along the seafront, with RESPECTFUL staff, which I will be going to in the future. Please stay away from this cafe, the owner does not deserve your money. Disgusting man.

I was introduced to this ice cream over fifty years ago, I prefer the hard ice cream from the middle fridge, it’s one of the nicest ice creams I’ve tasted, and I’ve had many.

I have been visiting this establishment since I was a child and have introduced many friends and visitors who all agree it is the finest ice creme around.

This is a wonderfully classic little cafe. Famed for its Lemon Tops, but there are so many other excellent treats to try - I particularly recommend the Maple Walnut - superb.

Lovely ice cream that people come from all over to experience. You can either sit inside and eat or collect from a window hatch and walk across the road to eat your ice cream on the beach.

The old fashioned style Cafe is on the sea front, it doesn't look anything special front the outside. If you just want an ice cream you are supposed to order it at the front, but in winter, best to go inside.

We called in here for ice cream on our wedding anniversary, brilliant as always. We had a lemon top sundae and a chocolate nut sundae. Both served with a smile. Lovely.

Been coming here for years but had a particularly bad experience with the rude owner some time ago which has prevented me from returning. Around 10 of us were eating and drinking in the outside area. One of our friends passed by eating fish and chips. The owner immediately asked him to leave as he was not allowed to eat food purchased from outside whilst sat there, fair enough. My friend offered to go inside and buy a coffee but was told no, he had to leave. Asked if he could just close up his food he was told no, he still had to leave. We had spent around £50 and had only been sat 5 minutes before our old friend had passed and joined us. We all decided to leave with our friend mid food and drink. Never again. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

My granddaughter lives in Leeds. Every time she comes to stay we have to go to Pacittos for a lemon top.They are her absolute favourite.

Having grown up in Redcar almost 50 years ago, I had fond childhood memories of Pacitto’s ice cream parlour. So returning after quite a long absence I was pleasantly surprised to see that, with so many other shops closed in Redcar High Street, that Pacitto’s was still there (with largely the same decor!). Having been told by a local that Gabrielle’s now sold the best Lemon Top cone in town, we decided to do a head-to-head challenge. Lemon Tops were bought at both shops and whilst generally similar, Pacitto’s came through as being more homemade tasting and authentic - Gabrielle’s was a bit too ‘Mr Whippy’ style. We also had to buy a Chocolate Wafer, as this was another childhood favourite, and this did not disappoint either. So if you are in Redcar, regardless of the weather, stop by Pacitto’s for a taste of Redcar history.

On holiday in the area and a friend told us to go for a lemon top. Not knowing what it was, but feeling adventurous we turned up.

I love to sit outside pacittos on seafront in any weather but i was shocked someone sat smoking this morning i suppose its allowed outside but im really against smoking so i was disappointed but still a great cafe for icecream coffees food and staff fab.

On behalf of my sister. She loves the ice cream so much, they also do ice cream takeaway and she will travel for it.

We go in at least once a week. The drinks are reasonable. The staff are very friendly. All home cooked food sweet and savary. Enjoy

Basic decor which could do with an upgrade but the place is clean. The food was ok but the apple pie wasn't quite as good as it used to be when I visited many moons ago! The friends I was with had the "famous" ice cream lemon tops which they enjoyed.

When visiting Redcar you must try a lemon top, Pacittos famous ice cream. It's delicious. Pacittos is situated on the High Street as well as the sea front.

we were a part of 9 (hooray we lost four). and we decided to visit Redcar for a few hours at the seaside. After playing the tuppeny slots, and a couple of games of electronic games of bingo ( I won £15) result. we wanted drinks before retuning to Sheffield. We saw PACITTOS , It was modern, clean and fresh, it drew us like a magnet. with Teas/Coffees/milkshakes/cola, we enjoyed a brief rest before the journey home. If ever we go back to Redcar we will remember PACITTOS, and gladly recommend to anyone.

I visit here regularly as it is in my home town I normally pop in when walking the dogs down to the beach and I love the Lemon top with a Flake, pacitos is available on the high street as well as on the sea front, some times there is a que but youu wont have long to wait or be disappointed.

Would never dream of going to pacittos without having a lemon top. Have been eating them for as long as I can remember. Even without the ice cream it fantastic.

I always come here for Lemon Tops. Love them. Nice little cafe to the rear (Seafront) and the front (high street side) staff though are always young girls who are more interested staring at them selves in the mirrors than serving you straightaway. But don’t let that distract you from the fact they do the best vanilla ice-cream you’ll taste in the country.

Went today and sat outside. I asked for tubs but was told that I couldn't get a tub but would have to have it in a glass dish. But I want a tub so I would go to the front, buy a tub and come back and sit outside and eat it. I was told that if I did that I would be asked to LEAVE! So I got up to leave and when I looked everyone who was sitting outside had done just that and were all eating tubs. I went back in and asked if everyone outside were going to be asked to leave. I was ignored. Lovely ice cream but jobsworth staff and weird rules so will probably avoid it now.

My friend said we just had to try a Lemon Top and we were NOT disappointed, it was the BEST! If only we lived closer, I'd eat one every day!

Redcar and a lemon top from Pacittos is like eggs & bacon, Morecambe & Wise, Abbot & Costello, Rene & Renata (well ok that might be pushing it a bit!) one should never be without the other!

Visit Redcar, visit Pacittos, the two go hand in hand, almost an institution in Redcar providing their lemon tops that no doubt at one time was a ground breaking innovation and it is still there providing the same unique product as opposed to the bland ubiquitous brands, available in every bland ubiquitous supermarket. It still catches the trade on the sea front, just look for the queue by the window

My second visit to redcar. We tried somewhere new for ice cream Strawberry ice cream I tried and it was nice for the price.

whenever we go into town the lemon tops a must have, the place is always busy but the staff are always polite, always have a pleasant experience.
