This is an excellent pub/restaurant recommend that you book a table for the restaurant as it does get busy. The food was excellent the staff were attentive even though they were very busy. Called in the day before for the happy hour nice cocktails on offer.

We ate at the Black Swan recently. I had the Sous-vide, pan-seared pork belly. Sous-vide is supposed to enhance the flavour and tenderness of the meat. It didn’t. One of my pieces of belly was 90% fat, which had not been rendered and was cold and uninteresting to the point of being inedible. The other piece had much more meat in it, but the skin was tough and the meat was unlike how I usually expect belly pork, which should be meltingly tender. Nor was there any indication of pan searing. The smear of black pudding puree that accompanied the meal didn’t seem to have much point except to hide whatever taste the few mushrooms might have had. The croquettes were not crisp and the taste did not remind me of their honey or mustard claim. In all the meal was uninspiring and a disappointment. When asked, separately by two of the wait staff how the meal was, I replied ‘a bit heavy’ and ‘heavy’. Neither queried the comment. I had looked forward to our meal and didn’t want to start a discussion in front of our friends, one of whom had booked the evening meal for us. Usually we have at least a dessert or share a couple between us. My friends decided not to take a dessert or to even have a coffee/tea which is unusual. I’m not writing for anyone else, but was left feeling more than a little disappointed.

Happened on this place by chance last Sunday - thought it looked good and oh my I was right! Such a lovely vibe, drinks were amazing (the care they took over a bloody mary was just something else) but the absolute deal maker was the seafood platter - one of the finest things we've ever eaten in a pub restaurant! Genuinely top class. Highly recommended!

What a find! In a small harbour town. We’ve eaten here twice over the last week. Tonight I had the fillet steak. It has to have been one of my top three steaks ever. Given that the other two are Wolfgangs on Maddison in New York, and Ruth’s Chris’s Steak House in Toronto it’s in incredible company. The steak itself cut like butter. It was cooked perfectly. And it was accompanied by crispy onions to die for and beautifully cooked home-made chips. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, but with some real class. The staff were incredible too! Thank you so much for a memorable meal

I booked Sunday 17 march for Sunday lunch 3 weeks before. We arrived at 4.30 to be told they had run out of Sunday lunch, lamb and belly pork. Disappointed doesn't come close!! Basically fish or burgers available. I ended up with a starter of scallops in cheese sauce which was absolutely lovely. Lacking in atmosphere and very cold. If I had been told that Sunday lunch may not be available at that time I would have gone elsewhere.

Visited for an evening meal whilst staying nearby, lovely dog friendly setting in the pub area with a roaring fire. We ordered fish and chips and pork belly, both delicious. Had an Alnwick brewery beer for the first time. Had to try all three and all very good. ( also Hadrian Border and Firebrick brewery.) Lovely pub with great bar and fireplace. Also a restaurant rear room plus a conservatory beyond. Then a lovely shelteted patio beyond that. Loved the music. Restaurant priced food, rarely seen lobster on a pub menu. Dog friendly bar. Whilst staying nearby in Seahouses, we wandered past The Black Swan and looked at the menu outside and then booked for the following evening. We were not disappointed. I had the duo of fish pates to start, absolutely delicious. For main course, my wife had pork belly (her favourite) and I had the fillet steak. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and my wife said the pork belly was the best she’d tasted. Too full to have a dessert each, we shared an apple, rhubarb and berry crumble with custard - heaven. The service was also second to none. We would definitely visit again and would urge you to visit if in the area.

Dropped in for an early Sunday lunch having read a number of reviews. We needed a dog friendly establishment that did a traditional roast dinner and this ticked a lot of boxes. We were seated in the bar, which was warm and cozy with a big open fire. Lovely decor and a nice atmosphere. The bar staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. The food we had was really good and there was plenty of it. A good range of drinks available, including locally brewed ales. All in all a really enjoyable visit and we'll certainly return.

This was my fourth visit and had booked Sunday lunch for 4 at 1.15pm and were shown to table in the orangery which was empty as it was quiet. After approx 10mins we were asked for a drinks order and were advised that the menu was depleted as they had run out of pigeon, cod (for cod and chips) and large fish fingers (for posh fish finger sandwiches. Which was disappointing as we were looking forward to a couple of these items. We eventually settled for the beef with onion gravy in a sour dough baguette. These took approx 10mins and we all agreed that they were a great chose. Slightly disappointed that no staff asked how the food was or asked if we wanted anymore drinks. I had to find a member of staff to get the drinks replenished. Overall not up too the usual waiting levels. Have decided to give the swan a break for a while.

We have really enjoyed both our visits to the Black Swan. The place is lovely, the staff are really friendly and professional and the food is great. The only disappointment is the fairly half-hearted vegetarian menu. Having enjoyed two lunches here we planned to bring a larger group - until we realised that, if you don't like mushrooms the only veggie item on the light lunch menu is a cheese and chutney sandwich. The main menu has a couple if veggie choices (including mushrooms again), but again they are a lot less imaginative than the wonderful seafood and meat options. We'd like to bring the whole family next time, but won't be able to until the veggie options improve.

I wanted to leave but not fair on the rest of the group Noticed another table got served items we were told are not available when we politely checked told they were asked to pre-order as a large group Would have been nice to get same option on booking if supply is an issue 150 spent on food we did nt particularly want and £32 for a house bottle of wine My portion was similiar to a breakfast size left feeling Hungary It stated pair of kippers however I was given only one small kipper Seems customers are been billed for the refurb I’m not opposed to paying a good fair price for good produce but suppose if your in a tourist location you don’t need repeat customers The food the others got looked nice to be fair, waiter was fine. Hate leaving poor reviews but was so looking forward to the seafood it was new years day so maybe asking people would they like to pre book on such occasions may help the pub and customers I understand some people may not turn up but genuine customers would nt mind leaving a deposit. The BEST Sunday lunch we’ve had in a long time !! If you’re in or around Seahouses, Northumberland then I’d highly recommend you visit The Black Swan Gastro Pub. Not only was the food delicious but the service was also exceptional. Our server was Angela ( long dark hair ) who was just lovely , very friendly and efficient. We ordered the Roast Sirloin Sunday lunch option and the beef was served perfectly pink and it was so tender . The roasties were crunchy and fluffy inside , the mash was smooth and buttery , the carrots and parsnips were roasted and both were deliciously sweet, the tender-stem broccoli had just the right amount of bite and the gravy was rich , thick and plentiful . It didn’t stop there though I ordered sticky toffee pudding which again was fantastic , it was drenched in the most delicious butterscotch sauce and served with creamy vanilla ice cream . My other half chose the apple and rhubarb fruit crumble also served with ice cream and whilst it arrived not as we had expected to be , it was served more like a fruit crumble filled tart , there were no complaints as he said it tasted absolutely delicious. All in all it was one perfect Sunday lunch. We will be back for sure !

Meals were lovely, amazing chefs, shame about the service. First off, the table was extremely wobbly, this should be checked when setting up- the waiter came and stuck beer mats underneath the table, not a good start to a birthday meal! We ordered the salmon pate to share, however when it came, two arrived, we thought maybe it had been split between two plates, but before we realised the waiter disappeared promptly. We sat for 10 minutes trying to get someone’s attention but in the end just gave up. Clearly we left a whole portion of pate between the two plates. When asked was everything okay, we explained not really we only wanted the one to share, the waiter apologised and said he would take one off the bill. The main came and was nice, when asking for the bill we were told the manager said we were not allowed the starter to be taken off due to not mentioning before we had eaten. Well due to the awful service this wasn’t possible, didn’t really want to go up to the bar. WONT be coming back and definitely don’t recommend. Manager didn’t even bother coming to speak to us and sent the waiter. It wasn’t about the money for us, but the way it was handled made us feel like we didn’t matter. Clearly they just want your money! Avoid.

Food was very good quality and deserved a 4 out of 5, not a 5 due to the price. However, the atmosphere and service let it down. To begin with we only had one menu and nobody was around to ask for another one. Our table was in a thoroughfare, next to an external door, which we didn't realise until we were all settled in and the place got busier. Service was slow and not just to get the food but especially clearing up when we had finished. Given the high prices being charged, I would hope for a consistent high level of food, service and atmosphere and we didn't get all of this.

We all ordered different starts and mains and we’re all happy with what we received. I ordered the lobster for main, I had it with Thermidor and it was delicious. This came with truffle chips, these were very tasty, but maybe a little chunky to accompany lobster, may have been better with fries, but that’s a minor point. Stayed the night in Seahouses and was absolutely not disappointed in any way when visiting The Black Swan Inn. Our food was amazing, very quick and friendly service from everyone, especially Tom. His cocktails were outstanding, any cocktail we asked for, there was 100% effort...

A very different Black Swan to the one we last went in before it closed down before COVID but the change is definitely for the better. It is lovely inside and beautifully decorated to a very high standard. A lovely atmosphere to sit and have a drink. We didn't eat but the menu looks amazing and we are definitely planning to eat here next time we are in Seahouses. A big plus are the 2 for 1 cocktails, Monday to Thursday, 3pm - 6pm and they are very good, very well made cocktails, all the staff have obviously been very well trained in mixology. All the staff were lovely, very helpful and very friendly. I highly recommend a visit here and we shall definitely be going back

Value for Money. Well cooked food with good service Dishes are challenging but presented well. A little too many fl ours on the plate would be my only criticism. Helpings are generous.

Stunning gastro seafood and pup friendly. We arrived in happy hour but squished in on a shared table and quickly got talking to other customers. 2 fabulous seafood dishes from the specials menu, approx £30 a dish but well worth it.
