Was looking forward to visiting this pub, we booked a table but when we arrived despite obvious empty tables we were asked to wait in the bar despite there being no tables free. Did not find the staff to be particularly warm or friendly. In fact I felt we were a bit of an inconvenience. The food was lovely, I had monkfish Caesar salad which was gorgeous and a very good portion and then mussels which again I felt was very good value for money but was actually too much for me. It’s just a pity the overall experience was somewhat underwhelming.

Amazing find in Seahouses. A gluten free lager on tap sold me from the moment I walked in! Very rarely find that!! The food was so tasty, the variety on the menu was fantastic and the portions for the price were unbelievable. Would come back here in a heartbeat. P.S. the GF fish finger sandwich was out of this world!!! The staff were so friendly and smiley. Thank you for a lovely lunch

Our meal and service was fine. We enjoyed our meal but disturbed by the ignoring of the German couple near to us by the staff. They sat long after they had finished their main course, with empty plates in front of them before anyone came to their table and asked about a dessert .This was uncomfortable. Tainted our experience.

Called to check it out as we were looking to eat that night at either the Black swan or the Ship. Had one drink and booked a table for a couple of hours later. Service was great and the food was excellent, just wish the lobster was a little bit bigger. Called at the ship after and knew we’d made the right choice

A very different Black Swan to the one we last went in before it closed down before COVID but the change is definitely for the better. It is lovely inside and beautifully decorated to a very high standard. A lovely atmosphere to sit and have a drink. We didn't eat but the menu looks amazing and we are definitely planning to eat here next time we are in Seahouses. A big plus are the 2 for 1 cocktails, Monday to Thursday, 3pm - 6pm and they are very good, very well made cocktails, all the staff have obviously been very well trained in mixology. All the staff were lovely, very helpful and very friendly. I highly recommend a visit here and we shall definitely be going back

Away for a long weekend celebrating our anniversary. Researched the likely eating places beforehand for our anniversary meal and booked a table in advance. Apart from being a little hard to find, tucked away in the back streets beyond the harbour, the welcome on arrival was warm and the table waiting. Having browsed the menu we ordered, together with an excellent bottle of Albarino to while away the wait whilst the meal was cooked fresh - fillet steak for herself and moules mariniere et frites for me. The fillet was cooked perfectly and entirely edible, whilst I struggled manfully to work my way through some 70+ plum Shetland mussels. The tables were basic and the ambience was spoilt rather by two self-important guys at different tables, but the service was impeccable, and we thoroughly recommend dining there. We'd go back but it's a long, long way from home.

A beautiful lunch here on Tuesday 10th September at about 12:30. I made a reservation online only about an hour before but it wasn't all that busy when we arrived which was nice. Lovely food and very professional service by their young members of staff. A bit pricey, the most expensive meal for two during our six day stay in Northumberland...but really pretty faultless.

Very loud atmosphere cannot hear without shouting. rude barman who also contributed to the noise with how loudly bottles were lobbed in the bin. Very jarring. Drinks were very expensive and food prices were very high. Don’t mind paying for good quality food but the service on the bar side wasn’t good. Don’t recommend for visitors, or tourists. Last thing, definitely not recommended if you have a dog. You will be given dirty looks by those in the restaurant area.

Went in to grab a nice dinner, went into the bar section and it was far too rowdy music blaring my ears off and some guy on bar who couldn't stop swearing. They call themselves dog friendly but give such a dirty look when we came in with ours. When ordering our drinks he told us to order our food in 15 minutes, after 15 minutes we came to order and he bluntly told us to sit back down and order after an hour because they were still too busy. Absolute horrific service, never again going in there unless they hire complete new staff, complete joke.

Amazing place. Worth a visit if you're in Seahouses. We were staying next door to the restaurant and it was highly recommended to visit by our host. Was really worth a try. I know we need to wait a bit but once you dish landed on the table it was just amazing. We tried mussels in various sauces. Bacon and cheese mussels was just a poetry. We also shared lobster which was just wonderful. Were not seafood lovers but we're delighted. Well worth a visit. Such a nice place. Nice ambient. Very professional service we can't fault. All food fresh and just done to perfection. Well be back. We'll worth recommending to anyone visiting Seahouses.

There is no denying that the food here is outstanding but the meal was let down by the service. Although the staff were friendly and attentive, the wait for everything was just too long. We ordered 2 mains and they took the best part of an hour to come. We were on the verge of telling them to cancel the order and leaving. We could hear other customers grumbling about the same thing and from reading previous reviews, it doesn’t appear to be a one off issue either. The prices here are expensive with the mains ranging from approx £20 to £40 pp. In my opinion, when a pub (gastro pub or not) is charging those kinds of prices, the whole experience needs to be 100%, not just the food. In our case it wasn’t. When it was time for the bill, to be fair to the staff, they didn’t even bother adding a service charge (it would have been swiftly deducted anyway so at least it saved us having that conversation!)

Five stars, I took my Italian husband, who is always sceptical about England seafood, he voted it as the best he'd eaten. Beautifully clean, discreet but friendly and helpful service. I'm sorry I didn't get your name, but our Polish waiter was a pleasure, friendly but not invasive. We live in Puglia, south of Italy, where seafood is so good that most of it is eaten raw, but the mussels were the best I've ever had, and the Lindisfarne oyster the very essence of the North Sea. Thank you for making friends and family so happy.

A bit pricey when you take this into account. Place was empty when we arrived, but waiter seemed to make it look as if he would struggle to seat us. Some music and candle light might help with the general atmosphere. Decor was tasteful but toilets were a bit smelly, seemed fairly clean though. We loved having a date night here whilst on holiday in Seahouses. In fact, we came for cocktail hour and loved the place so much we came back the next day for dinner! We both thoroughly enjoyed the seafood, scallops, monkfish, mussels and freshly caught lobster, as well as the exquisitely prepared cocktails. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, whilst having a sophistication, beauty and glamour brought by elements like the orangery and the living wall in the courtyard. Came to have a meal with my partner. This place offered great views and the decor was tasteful. Food was of a good quality and the staff was attentive to my food allergy. I enjoyed Lobster Thermidor and my partner had a good burger. The toilets were clean and in a good state. Booking online was nice and easily. Servers were attentive and worked hard in the beginning. What was a let down for me was after hearing two tables moaning about space on our table after being told my partner was “a larger man”getting through then server was taking desert order told there was a party of 6 and could we move if gave 15% off the deserts. Either they genuinely needed it for a group of six, or was shameful in way they treat bigger people who wanted to have a good meal. As people who don’t live here makes us feel not very welcome. This makes we feel like should avoid places like this. Although the food was good the service could be better after being moved out the way. Will I eat here again, no. Would I recommend trying, yes. Honestly! This was the best thing I ever tasted. I had the Thai Red Curry which had Salmon, Monkfish and Prawns in it. Ever bite I put in my mouth, I was in heaven. It was so delicious. Everyone else's meals looked amazing and they all stated it was lovely. The menu was a vast range in price, dishes ranged between £12-70. I absolutely love trying new dishes and don't mind so much on the price is the quality is good. I can confirm the quality is top notch! The service was amazing and quick, they were very attentive and making sure everything was good and that we had a drink at all times. The staff were so lovely and kind. I loved the decor in the restaurant/pub, there was the dining area which was more formal, but was cosy. Whilst the rest was very cosy and had such a chilled vibe. The staff and manager were pleasant enough but I would have preferred to have known from the start that the food was going to take so long and then I would have had the option to go elsewhere. By the time the main course did arrive I didn't really enjoy it that much as I had been waiting so long. Apparently they were short of staff. We ate at the Black Swan recently. I had the Sous-vide, pan-seared pork belly. Sous-vide is supposed to enhance the flavour and tenderness of the meat. It didn’t. One of my pieces of belly was 90% fat, which had not been rendered and was cold and uninteresting to the point of being inedible. The other piece had much more meat in it, but the skin was tough and the meat was unlike how I usually expect belly pork, which should be meltingly tender. Nor was there any indication of pan searing. The smear of black pudding puree that accompanied the meal didn’t seem to have much point except to hide whatever taste the few mushrooms might have had. The croquettes were not crisp and the taste did not remind me of their honey or mustard claim. In all the meal was uninspiring and a disappointment. When asked, separately by two of the wait staff how the meal was, I replied ‘a bit heavy’ and ‘heavy’. Neither queried the comment. I had looked forward to our meal and didn’t want to start a discussion in front of our friends, one of whom had booked the evening meal for us. Usually we have at least a dessert or share a couple between us. My friends decided not to take a dessert or to even have a coffee/tea which is unusual. I’m not writing for anyone else, but was left feeling more than a little disappointed.

Given that the other two are Wolfgangs on Maddison in New York, and Ruth’s Chris’s Steak House in Toronto it’s in incredible company. The steak itself cut like butter. It was cooked perfectly. We were seated in the bar, which was warm and cozy with a big open fire. Lovely decor and a nice atmosphere. The bar staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. The food we had was really good and there was plenty of it. A good range of drinks available, including locally brewed ales. All in all a really enjoyable visit and we'll certainly return.

This was my fourth visit and had booked Sunday lunch for 4 at 1.15pm and were shown to table in the orangery which was empty as it was quiet. After approx 10mins we were asked for a drinks order and were advised that the menu was depleted as they had run out of pigeon, cod (for cod and chips) and large fish fingers (for posh fish finger sandwiches. Which was disappointing as we were looking forward to a couple of these items. We eventually settled for the beef with onion gravy in a sour dough baguette. These took approx 10mins and we all agreed that they were a great chose. Slightly disappointed that no staff asked how the food was or asked if we wanted anymore drinks. I had to find a member of staff to get the drinks replenished. Overall not up too the usual waiting levels. Have decided to give the swan a break for a while.

We have really enjoyed both our visits to the Black Swan. The place is lovely, the staff are really friendly and professional and the food is great. The only disappointment is the fairly half-hearted vegetarian menu. Having enjoyed two lunches here we planned to bring a larger group - until we realised that, if you don't like mushrooms the only veggie item on the light lunch menu is a cheese and chutney sandwich. The main menu has a couple if veggie choices (including mushrooms again), but again they are a lot less imaginative than the wonderful seafood and meat options. We'd like to bring the whole family next time, but won't be able to until the veggie options improve.

Pre booked prior to our stay in the town, called in day before check all ok. checked menu prior to booking arrived to be seated then to be told find 50 percent of the menu was not available.which was the bit they specialised in. I wanted to leave but not fair on the rest of the group Noticed another table got served items we were told are not available when we politely checked told they were asked to pre-order as a large group Would have been nice to get same option on booking if supply is an issue 150 spent on food we did nt particularly want and £32 for a house bottle of wine My portion was similiar to a breakfast size left feeling Hungary It stated pair of kippers however I was given only one small kipper Seems customers are been billed for the refurb I’m not opposed to paying a good fair price for good produce but suppose if your in a tourist location you don’t need repeat customers The food the others got looked nice to be fair, waiter was fine. Hate leaving poor reviews but was so looking forward to the seafood it was new years day so maybe asking people would they like to pre book on such occasions may help the pub and customers I understand some people may not turn up but genuine customers would nt mind leaving a deposit. The whole thing put a dampener on our New Year’s Day, we went back to our accommodation for some snacks as all still Hungary

What a fantastic find! Lovely warm welcome on a chilly December day, both from the roaring log burner & all of the staff. The food deserves 10/10 & Tom's cocktails are to die for! Espresso martini & Pina colada are the best I ever tasted. Only sorry we weren't around for longer.

10/10 for this perfect find! We visited a couple of times during our wee break in Seahouses, both times we were greeted with the same very warm welcome. The bar area is an incredibly nice space with a lovely fireplace & warming log burner.I didn’t eat but my husband had the tempura king prawn burger, which was perfectly presented & which he said was delicious. The cocktail list is vast & with Tom’s skill in creating them, they are without doubt the best ever tasted, the espresso martini is to die for! We were just sad our stay in Seahouses wasn’t for longer.

We had the loveliest Christmas Eve family lunch. 2 of us are gluten free and we're catered for with absolutely no problem. Daniel, our waiter was so helpful, nothing was a problem and was so lovely with our kids. 2 of us shared the seafood platter and my word, we've never had such fresh, tasty fish! It's a shame we're only visiting and don't live locally, we'd be here all the time!

Buzzing place. Good food. Service quick but so sour and unfriendly. They need to learn to smile and acknowledge when customers are trying to interact with them. Doesn't matter if you're busy, a smile goes a long way.

Haven't tried the food yet, but the welcome is a warm and friendly, lovely social atmosphere with pool table darts and very cold, wonderfully tasting beer (after all, it is a pub 😀). Not to mention a lovely view of the sea through a short walk through a side turning. 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟

Extremely difficult to review something you never received. Booked a table for 6 people, arrived and totally ignored. After an age of waiting were eventually informed that they had gone home early. The staff of the golf club were miserable and unhelpful and the people inside looked at us like we had just fallen off someone's shoe. The comments made by some members seated outside on our leaving, who informed us that they are useless....says it all really.

I was looking forward to going to this pub on September 7, 2024, so I booked an accommodation nearby, but unfortunately it was closed.

I liked the fact that the staff were willing to bring our drinks through to the restaurant. My partner thought the food was exceptional & well presented. The Scottish breakfast was fantastic&we got 8 slices of fried bread for 2 people! I would urge anybody going to amble to try this place.
