We visited here a couple of times for dinner. We had our dog with us so couldn't dine in the main restaurant part, but could dine in the bar area, which was absolutely fine with us. Always busy when we arrived, so had to wait for a table to become available as they do not take reservations in the bar area. Staff were all pleasant and friendly. I had the wild boar sausages and black pudding mash (£19). The portion sizes were very generous. The food tasted really good. The sausages were a good size and meaty and you got 3 of them. The mash was ok. I like black pudding, but really couldn't taste it. I guess there are some that are not so keen on black pudding mash. Staff are more than happy to swap the mash out for chips if you ask, as some other diners did. Had a side portion of onion rings, and i was pretty shocked when they arrived. Diners at the tables next to us all looked pretty shocked too! The onion rings were huge. They must be the biggest onions rings i've ever had served to me. They were as big as the main course. They were so large i couldn't eat them all. Size a side, the onion rings tasted great, had a good crunch and only cost £4. We also ordered a side of chips! The portion size was just huge, and all for £4.50. Honestly, we enjoyed the food and had a lovely time in the pub we went back the next day for dinner again...minus the onion rings.

This pub is fantastic ! The food is incredible . We’ve been a few times and never been disappointed. The Sunday lunch was outstanding . The beef sirloin was cooked to perfection . Pink, moist and totally delicious . The roasted carrots & parsnips were exquisite . The broccoli had a good crunch to it. Basically everything was perfect . The desserts didn’t either disappoint either . The chocolate orange sponge was light and fluffy and the chocolate sauce had a nice citrus tang to it . The creme brûlée was amazing , the custard was smooth and creamy with a perfect crack . Can’t wait to return!

One of the nicest places we have eaten whilst on holiday in Northumberland. The Sunday Lunch was excellent we also came back a few days later and I had the fish and chips that were very good. My partner had the wild boar sausages that also was very good. On top of this they were very accommodating for the small miniature dachshund we had with us. I can’t recommend it enough.

We came here twice during our stay locally. Both times the staff service and quality of everything was excellent. The happy hour Mon to Thurs 3pm to 5pm is well worth visiting for as the prices of the cocktails are both reasonable and the cocktails themselves are very good. Second time we are there and the food was both excellent quality and large portions so take your appetite with you. The cost was not expensive for what you got. We went with a disabled friend in a wheelchair and the staff could not have done more for us. Very highly recommended.

Was looking forward to visiting this pub, we booked a table but when we arrived despite obvious empty tables we were asked to wait in the bar despite there being no tables free. Did not find the staff to be particularly warm or friendly. In fact I felt we were a bit of an inconvenience. The food was lovely, I had monkfish Caesar salad which was gorgeous and a very good portion and then mussels which again I felt was very good value for money but was actually too much for me. It’s just a pity the overall experience was somewhat underwhelming.

Our meal and service was fine. We enjoyed our meal but disturbed by the ignoring of the German couple near to us by the staff. It is lovely inside and beautifully decorated to a very high standard. A lovely atmosphere to sit and have a drink. We didn't eat but the menu looks amazing and we are definitely planning to eat here next time we are in Seahouses. A big plus are the 2 for 1 cocktails, Monday to Thursday, 3pm - 6pm and they are very good, very well made cocktails, all the staff have obviously been very well trained in mixology. Away for a long weekend celebrating our anniversary. Researched the likely eating places beforehand for our anniversary meal and booked a table in advance. Apart from being a little hard to find, tucked away in the back streets beyond the harbour, the welcome on arrival was warm and the table waiting. Having browsed the menu we ordered, together with an excellent bottle of Albarino to while away the wait whilst the meal was cooked fresh - fillet steak for herself and moules mariniere et frites for me. The fillet was cooked perfectly and entirely edible, whilst I struggled manfully to work my way through some 70+ plum Shetland mussels. The tables were basic and the ambience was spoilt rather by two self-important guys at different tables, but the service was impeccable, and we thoroughly recommend dining there. We'd go back but it's a long, long way from home.

Five stars, I took my Italian husband, who is always sceptical about England seafood, he voted it as the best he'd eaten. Beautifully clean, discreet but friendly and helpful service. I'm sorry I didn't get your name, but our Polish waiter was a pleasure, friendly but not invasive. We live in Puglia, south of Italy, where seafood is so good that most of it is eaten raw, but the mussels were the best I've ever had, and the Lindisfarne oyster the very essence of the North Sea. Thank you for making friends and family so happy.

There is no denying that the food here is outstanding but the meal was let down by the service. Although the staff were friendly and attentive, the wait for everything was just too long. We ordered 2 mains and they took the best part of an hour to come. We were on the verge of telling them to cancel the order and leaving. We could hear other customers grumbling about the same thing and from reading previous reviews, it doesn’t appear to be a one off issue either. The prices here are expensive with the mains ranging from approx £20 to £40 pp. In my opinion, when a pub (gastro pub or not) is charging those kinds of prices, the whole experience needs to be 100%, not just the food. In our case it wasn’t. When it was time for the bill, to be fair to the staff, they didn’t even bother adding a service charge (it would have been swiftly deducted anyway so at least it saved us having that conversation!)

Came to have a meal with my partner. This place offered great views and the decor was tasteful. Food was of a good quality and the staff was attentive to my food allergy. I enjoyed Lobster Thermidor and my partner had a good burger. The toilets were clean and in a good state. Booking online was nice and easily. Servers were attentive and worked hard in the beginning. What was a let down for me was after hearing two tables moaning about space on our table after being told my partner was “a larger man”getting through then server was taking desert order told there was a party of 6 and could we move if gave 15% off the deserts. Either they genuinely needed it for a group of six, or was shameful in way they treat bigger people who wanted to have a good meal. As people who don’t live here makes us feel not very welcome. This makes we feel like should avoid places like this. Although the food was good the service could be better after being moved out the way. Will I eat here again, no. Would I recommend trying, yes. We ate at the Black Swan recently. I had the Sous-vide, pan-seared pork belly. Sous-vide is supposed to enhance the flavour and tenderness of the meat. It didn’t. One of my pieces of belly was 90% fat, which had not been rendered and was cold and uninteresting to the point of being inedible. The other piece had much more meat in it, but the skin was tough and the meat was unlike how I usually expect belly pork, which should be meltingly tender. Nor was there any indication of pan searing. The smear of black pudding puree that accompanied the meal didn’t seem to have much point except to hide whatever taste the few mushrooms might have had. The croquettes were not crisp and the taste did not remind me of their honey or mustard claim. In all the meal was uninspiring and a disappointment. When asked, separately by two of the wait staff how the meal was, I replied ‘a bit heavy’ and ‘heavy’. Neither queried the comment. I had looked forward to our meal and didn’t want to start a discussion in front of our friends, one of whom had booked the evening meal for us. Usually we have at least a dessert or share a couple between us. My friends decided not to take a dessert or to even have a coffee/tea which is unusual. I’m not writing for anyone else, but was left feeling more than a little disappointed.

Fantastic seafood platter... our advice is, if you go for that, don't have a starter - you won't be able to finish it!!! A lovely pub - will definitely call again..

Happened on this place by chance last Sunday - thought it looked good and oh my I was right! Such a lovely vibe, drinks were amazing (the care they took over a bloody mary was just something else) but the absolute deal maker was the seafood platter - one of the finest things we've ever eaten in a pub restaurant! Genuinely top class. Highly recommended!

Great find for our lunch, awesome music, proper mixologist bartender for my Mai Tai cocktail (gorgeous), local beer (Seahouses Blonde), Smoked Haddock Chowder and Posh Fish Finger sandwich. Great atmosphere, friendly and quality food ... Happy Punters 😁👍

What a find! In a small harbour town. We’ve eaten here twice over the last week. Tonight I had the fillet steak. It has to have been one of my top three steaks ever. Given that the other two are Wolfgangs on Maddison in New York, and Ruth’s Chris’s Steak House in Toronto it’s in incredible company. The steak itself cut like butter. It was cooked perfectly. And it was accompanied by crispy onions to die for and beautifully cooked home-made chips. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, but with some real class. The staff were incredible too! Thank you so much for a memorable meal

I booked Sunday 17 march for Sunday lunch 3 weeks before. We arrived at 4.30 to be told they had run out of Sunday lunch, lamb and belly pork. Disappointed doesn't come close!! Basically fish or burgers available. I ended up with a starter of scallops in cheese sauce which was absolutely lovely. Lacking in atmosphere and very cold. If I had been told that Sunday lunch may not be available at that time I would have gone elsewhere.

Visited for an evening meal whilst staying nearby, lovely dog friendly setting in the pub area with a roaring fire. We ordered fish and chips and pork belly, both delicious. We did have quite a wait for our food with no updates from the staff which was a slight let down on a fairly quiet weeknight, but would recommend.

Having moved into our weekend cottage Ic and Flic needed a beer. I had to walk 73 steps to the front door of this pub. Their little legs need a lot more. Happy to find three real ales on handpump. Had an Alnwick brewery beer for the first time. Had to try all three and all very good. ( also Hadrian Border and Firebrick brewery.) Lovely pub with great bar and fireplace. Also a restaurant rear room plus a conservatory beyond. Then a lovely shelteted patio beyond that. Loved the music. Restaurant priced food, rarely seen lobster on a pub menu. Dog friendly bar. Great staff.

Visited as a group of 10 so we had to pre order which was fine. Got there on time, but another big group had turned up late putting a lot of pressure on the staff. There was a bit of a delay getting our food but we didn’t complain because the staff were lovely and kept us up to date with the delays. We were in no hurry anyway. They even deducted a round of ten drinks from our bill as an apology which they didn’t have to do. Food was absolutely superb, I had Sunday roast, it was amazing. Thank you, hope to be back next year

Extremely difficult to review something you never received. Booked a table for 6 people, arrived and totally ignored. After an age of waiting were eventually informed that they had gone home early. The staff of the golf club were miserable and unhelpful and the people inside looked at us like we had just fallen off someone's shoe. The comments made by some members seated outside on our leaving, who informed us that they are useless....says it all really.

Popped in for drinks on a night away and I wouldn’t return. The place was dark and lacking atmosphere. The barmaids were in an abundance compared to the amount of customers on a weekend. The barmaids were chatting about the lack of their sex lives speaking so loud using absolutely vulgar terminology mainly about how they hadn’t been touched by their partners in x amount of days and others saying how many people they’d been with in that weekend. The chatting was very loud so the whole bar could hear but mainly entertaining 4 old/drunk lonely customers around the bar. Not a wide selection of drinks it looked like they were waiting for an order that was late. Really not our cup of tea at all no wonder it was dead with more staff than customers. If you think conversations like that are appropriate for all audiences you probably shouldn’t work with the public. I’d have liked to say it was just the younger staff talking about such matters but an older lady in her also involved.
