Awful… went here with one of my friends… the service was terrible had to ask a few times to get some water… asked for a jug and got 1 glass… The menu is so limited not much choice at all😡😡.. Ordered lasagne and chicken curry the curry was ok ish… however the lasagne was very dry no tomatoes in it and very small enough for a child portion… Overall it was expensive.. service terrible and atmosphere awful… needless to say we will not be returning…. This ha been taken over and lots need to be done to bring it back to a higher standard… needless to say we will not be returning… they are nicer places to eat around there with better food.. service and reasonable price

2 different very loud music, food was dreadful, staff need to learn 'customer service' people walked out as not acknowledged, absolutely horrid.

This has totally changed since being taken over. Staff need more training as no one came to take our order like previous owners did and never checked to see whether our food was ok. Food we had was nice but overpriced. Previous menu used to have a wide variety, there was only 5 mains, 3 stotties, 4 light bites and 3 kids meals and 2 desserts on current menu. New owners need to up their game if they want to continue in the catering industry. There are another 2-3 pubs in the area which are better. Unfortunately we won't be returning in a hurry. I must say the lager was nice & cold so they got that part right.

Despite some recent poor reviews we thought we would give the Hastings a try for Sunday lunch. We had not booked ahead but staff found us a table. Sunday lunch was delicious. Trio of meats with proper yorkshires, mash and roasties, not just bought in tasteless rubbish. Good selection of freshly prepared vegetables and plenty of gravy. Staff behind the bar really friendly and chatty. Will definitely revisit for a mid week meal and try that out as well.

Travelled there for lunch and waited until well after 12pm yesterday but was shut. Sad as was always previous to new management open when said and good food.

Turned up today 09/06/24 table booked for 16:00hrs only to find it has closed down. What a shame new management team took over food still great, sadly we will have to find somewhere else ☹️

First time going since the new owners took over. Staff were really good and the pub has always been a warm welcoming place. That has not changed The menu is a bit plain though. Some of the items from the previous owners have gone, and the most exotic item on the menu now is Scampi and Chips. They had steak dishes, but no mixed grill. Hopefully in time once the new owners are more established, they'll experiment with the menu, but for me at the minute there's a better place just up the road and The Keel Row do it much better

My friend and I visited the Hastings to enjoy the "Saturday Steak Night " £30 for 2 great steak meals with a bottle of wine thrown in . Excellent quality and value for money along with very prompt service both with the food and at the bar . Just great , thank you

On holiday so thought we would try this pub as it had our name on it, wasn't disappointed, lovely food, helpful staff, quick service and overall the four of us were very happy we called in for something to eat.

The black pudding and chorizo stack was horrendous, brown mash potatoes OMG ! My partner had the alleged mince n dumplings...more like infamous! Rock hard dumplings and more brown mash. I did try to complain but the boss preferred the sound of his own voice ,rather than a customer with a grievance.

Just a disappointment, sadly can't recommend. Food was mushy veg, old tough roast beef . Avoid on a Sunday !!

Just had Sunday lunch at the Hasting Arms and it was absolutely amazing - the best Sunday lunch I have had in a long time. My husband opted for the black pudding and chorizo starter followed by the 3 meats Sunday dinner whilst I had the kickin cauli ( so tasty) followed by a standard beef dinner. The portion sizes are huge and everything was cooked to perfection. Well worth a visit and excellent value for money. We will definitely be returning.

This pub has gone massively downhill since it was taken over in February. Our meals all came at different times, and brought the wrong meal. Pasta and pizza inedible and got sent back, when asked by bar staff if everything was ok, we said no and they just said that they would let the kitchen know. Over £60 for 3 awful bar meals. We complained by messenger and by email and never got any response from either complaint. All original kitchen and bar staff have now left, a lot of locals have gone elsewhere. We won't be back

We go to this pub often for Sunday lunch. We have tried 100s of different places over the years. And beleive me there Sunday dinners are excellent We get standard size and it's huge. You can order a large 3 meat dinner but thee dinners would feed 3 they gigantic. The Yorkshire are the best and always get a good bowl of veg and extra gravy. The beef melts in your mouth. My wife gets the pork you get loads she ends up taking half herdiiner home they that big. Also the sweets are excellent. Great service always.

Just had lovely meal seabass with tomato and chilli sauce served with rice and veg. My sister had gluten free fish and chips amazing food definitely be back 😋

Pub is friendly staff very good and a good selection of beer

Party of 5 called in on a Thursday, originally for the "curry night special" but on seeing the menu and specials board we ended up choosing a couple of the curries, fish and chips and 2 pie dishes followed by 2 cheese cakes, 2 sticky toffee puddings and apple and blackberry crumble, all came with a choice of custard, cream or ice cream. Some of our party don't eat meat, but there was plenty of vegetarian and meat free options on offer. No complaints with food or drinks, decent price and service with a smile, the staff are friendly, pleasant and attentive. Some good offers on food including 3 tapas for £9.95 on a Wednesday and 2-4-1 pizza deals on a Monday. Worth calling in if your after nice "pub" food, value for money and service with a smile. We will be returning.

Good food an ok ale selection. Had a steak, which came on a board, peas in a small bowl and chips in a basket; I hate this; Honestly what's wrong with a plate! It's impossible to tip your peas out without them rolling all over the place, the board wasn't really big enough to tip the chips out either. I'll ask for a plate next time. The food however was great, the steak was well cooked (medium), the chips were good. The other 2 in the party had the Chicken Diane off the special board, which turned up with a dish of veg and a dish of chips, we were unsure if the default was half chips and half veg for each meal, but they shared it happily enough anyway. Overall a great pub which is under new management, but still knocking out great food.

Have been here a few times at night for some drinks and always had a lovely experience with very welcoming staff. Visited a couple days ago and had food for the first time, ( i’ve been told theres a new chef?) and it was absolutely beautiful! Will definitely be back.

Had Sunday lunch today, 5 adults and one child! Service was impeccable, didn't have to wait for long and were attended to regularly! I had the trio of meats and all 3 meats were cooked to perfection, Yorkshire pudding was delicious and I am very particular about those! Very generous portions and plenty gravy was served! Would highly recommend if you are looking for a Sunday lunch!

Very nice food not just regular good food service was very good... Not pretension family atmosphere but not scaming kids. Cost £ 27.00 for 3 with soft drinks 2 had the roast chicken and one had mince and dumplings. We will be back soon

Staff are lovely and helpful. Meals are lovely, filling and presented nice. Table service for food and drinks. We gave been with small and large groups. Never had a bad experience.

Always have a nice meal here. Reasonably priced for the portion sizes and always seems freshly cooked with good ingredients. Bar often has love music and staff are always welcoming. Dog friendly which is a bonus.

Visited for the first time. Margaret was great at explaining the menu and the service was spot on. Food was amazing. Little hidden gem, well worth a visit x

The young barman with all the jokes really made me love this place, from the minute we walked in, it was non-stop laughter. Well done. We'll definitely be back again.......

I hadn't been back to this pub for a few years but it seemed nice. It was a little quiet on a Saturday afternoon but as it didn't have the football on it wasn't a surprise. Range of beers was fairly standard though there was one hand pull on which was well maintained. We didn't eat but the food smelled nice and the tabled area was well set out. Staff were very friendly. Worth a try if you are passing; there are a few bars in the area so this is a nice stopping place along the way.

We love to visit this pub as family and with the grandparents. Always amazing with allergies, the best around for home cooked food. Never disappointed. Friendly staff, lovely with children and lovely bustling atmosphere especially on Sunday.

I was recommended to visit the Hastings Arms and to try the mince and dumplings, which I did. So pleased we went there. The food was lovely and the staff were very welcoming. Definitely plan to go there again.

Called in again yesterday, 4 weeks on the trot, once again couldn't resist the curry, excellent , my wife had the roast beef (again), couldn't believe how much beef was on her plate, gave me a taste, it was gorgeous, best place local, staff really friendly, highly recommend.

Fantastic welcome great speedy service we had the curry and a roast dinner the roast was lovely except instant mash but the curry was insipid and lacked flavour we didn't complain as they were very amiable would go back but not for curry

Food consistently good quality, with plenty of choice. Good humoured service makes it a pleasure to eat here.

Absolutely no complaints for quantity here. The all day breakfast defeated one of us. Crispy spicy chicken came with a large serving of chips and some coleslaw. That defeated another. The rarely seen breakfast pizza was good, but the base a little tough. Friendly welcome from the staff, but have to say our waitress seemed only mildly interested in her job. That may have resulted in one item which we ordered failing to appear, although it was rectified. Shame because otherwise close to 5 stars.

6 out of 6, need I say more. Possibly the best pub restaurant in the area. Always get fresh hot food well presented by friendly staff. Really good quality and value for money.

What a lovely pub nothing posh but good food and staff friendly a lovely little pub and so reasonable . Food delicious . I’m going back again soon

Not the first time here for lunch great value and really friendly staff. Sunday lunch is Always a winner! brought my dog each time and looked after really well.

Fabulous Sunday lunch. Everything was delicious, from the melt in the mouth lamb to the generous portion of veg and the home made gravy. Will definitely be back. 5* plus

Been here on a regular basis now as we've never had a bad meal or experience. The barman with the blonde hair makes this place, he's so polite, friendly and very funny. We'll done keep up the good work 😊😊

Called in on the off chance and was told the kitchen closed at 8pm. So quick look at menu ordered food and drinks. Food was amazing hubby has seafood tagliatelle I had mushroom stroganoff neither of use could finish the meal as was so large. So good we have booked on for Sunday lunch

We’ve eaten here many, many times as it’s local for us. I felt the need to review here today as I’ve had the most incredible beef stroganoff for lunch on BH Monday. To die for, the beef dropped off the fork it was so tender & the mustard based sauce - so flavoursome. The staff are friendly and efficient and you can’t beat it for value. The Inch’s cider is a winner too. Highly recommended as there’s always great choice on offer.

Ten of us went for lunch, 10 different dishes and they arrived at the same time and hot. Good food, no skimping on portion size. Sweets were just as good. Service was very friendly and had us laughing. Also have special offer on mid week 2 meals and second one half price. Same with the sweets. Very good experience, defo go again.

Called in yesterday Monday 24th and ordered the Roast of the Day (Beef) if I could have IAver would have licked my plate everything was done to perfection the horseradish sauce was mind blowing what a hit to the nostrils to complete the meal and we were already full we ordered the Red Velvet Cheesecake Simply the best We have had many meals here (not a regular) and have never given a review but we should have as we have never been disappointed in the quality of the food and service Well Done!!! and thanks

Came for a quiet lunch with my husband. Bar staff friendly. Both of us had the double cheeseburger. They were absolutely delicious and would highly recommend (though doubling up was a bit too much) Portion huge. Chips home cooked and amazing. Price was also great

Omg just when you thought Sunday lunch couldn't get any BETTER the desert was fantastic I asked for trio of ice cream made into a sundae staff are more then happy to accommodate fuss Potts like me so it came with chocolate strawberry vanilla ice cream squirty cream meringue pieces chocolate flake chocolate sauce well what can I say but ice cream heaven so if like me got room for dessert after lovely lunch and have ice-cream sweet tooth ask for a Mandy sundae I'm still lying on sofa at home very full happy indeed so thanks Angie and Hastings arms keep up good food

A Classic British pub, it's a bit dated and worn out but it does the job. The food was piping hot and good value for money.

Last minute visit today..I had the roast of the day & it was delish..Loads of meat & veg. My friend had the hunters chicken & thoroughly enjoyed it...It was even nicer having a buy one get one half price offer...Will be back...

14 - 18th birthday invitees were served at the same time. 14 invitees enjoyed excellent food, across the board. In catering, that level of service is difficult to achieve. The Kitchen did a great job. The staff who served table were attentive and pleasant. No spillages, no mess, just good service. I speak for everyone when I say we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We will return Paul, at some point in time, thank you to youself and your team for your attention to our needs.

Went for Christmas lunch, which was excellent. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.

The food was lovely. We had the Xmas dinner in a big group. Service was great the staff were very attentive. Portion sizes were brilliant. The food was hot and we got served altogether. I would recommend and visit again.

Fab food fab staff always friendly and hospitable great hot food Sunday lunch is a must my husband always has Sunday lunch but I have worked my way the other menu on Sunday cheeseburger my favourite at minute we found this place by accident and now go every week thanks Hastings arms and Angie all staff keep up great work

Decent pub with a good selection of drinks. A lot of the area is taken over by tables for food. When we were there no one was eating so seemed a bit empty.

Although I'm a fairly new customer of the Hastings I feel I can give a genuine qualified review :) 1. The food is always top notch ( for a pub) hot and filling. You never wait long, (15mins ave) even when busy. 2.the staff are always very amenable and efficient, but willing to chat if able. 3. It's clean and comfortable with ample parking. There's even a pool table for some recreation to burn off those calories, ;) all in all a lovely place to just relax and enjoy good food at a reasonable price.

We had excellent food and a great deal where, when two meals are ordered, the 2nd main course is half price. Great deal! The staff were very friendly and efficient.

Outdated worn-out furniture that should be in a skip, sticky carpets, over priced drinks @ £4.30 for a pint of Cider and £4.50 for a pint of Guinness, the manager has got the personality of a gate post. We won't be returning. On a positive note the staff were lovely.

This is one of our local pubs had not been for some time our daughter recommended it as she had been for food and said it was very nice she was not wrong the food is very good had the curry and my husband had the belly pork very reasonably priced .. good pub food and the staff are very pleasant

Lovely pub. Staff really friendly. Positive attitudes by all. Nice looking pub. No light lager, but the do have Heineken Zero if you want a non alcoholic drink. A few spirits and wine selection. Lager & beer - there's a few options, but not as many as most pubs. It all depends on your preference. I got Old Mout Cider Berries & Cherries £5.20 a pint. They do have a few pale ales on. "Daft As" is one of my favourites. It comes in around £3.50 a pint. I have been back a few times. Will be making this pub one of my regulars. Would highly recommend a visit. This pub is dog friendly!

I have had to repost this as it was taken down as someone reported it, ridiculous as it is a true experience! We had mince and dumpling but there was hardly any meat in the gravey, the mash was tasteless and the dumpling was rock hard, cold and stale, it was more like a biscuit. The veg was nice and we got extra chips they were really good. Staff are very friendly, just don't eat the food.

Lovely warm welcome and must say the food was delicious and great value. Great menu too , will definitely go back.

Nice pub stopped off on our walk, nice cuppa, food looked good nice friendly staff. Clean and tidy 🙂🙂
