I don't know what I was expecting from this pub/hotel. My expecting were wode open as for my liking the pricing was on the lower end that I would pay to stay somewhere. However this place was outstanding value for money my room was spacious with a great large shower and many modern features. The room was exceptionally clean and well presented. The bed was do soft and made it so hard forme to get up or what to get up. I had food in the pub as thought to myself that maybe I had just got lucky with the room however once again the small cosy pub with it log fire was great. The food was brilliant well presented and tasted amazing. I honestly would definitely recommend and go back to the blue bell all in all it was a 10 out of 10 for me.

We were staying in Crookham and only a short walk to the Blue Bell Inn. Very friendly owner, staff and visitors which made us feel very welcome. Served a good pint of draught Old Speckled Hen. Dog friendly. On the last night we had dinner there. A varied menu and steak and ale pie was excellent.

The food was reasonable. The service could have been better tho. Had to ask for a side plate for a starter and more napkins and never took empty glasses away from the table when they brought another round of drinks. And brought mayonnaise to the table when we asked for ketchup 😏

Regular here now for nearly 10yrs. Always great food, service and atmosphere. Lovely country pub. Nice menu with some unusual options. Good for vegan which is an added bonus for me. Recently my cousin was over from Australia and she stayed her for a few nights. She was very impressed with her room, her breakfast and the hospitality. Genuinely can't pick fault with the place. Always our reliable go to, nothing to match it locally.

We recently stayed here - my son was running the Edinburgh Marathon and we just needed a room the night before, we wanted the night after as well but there wasn’t any availability sadly. Although the accommodation was just over an hour's drive from the city, it worked perfectly for us since we couldn't find a place within Edinburgh unless we wanted to pay a silly premium. The room was nicely presented and just big enough for a night’s stop, equipped with everything we needed. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. We had to leave early the next morning at around 5:30am, which meant we would miss breakfast, but they kindly prepared a little pack-up for each of us the night before, which was a thoughtful touch. The room was quite warm with the four of us, so the small fan provided was very handy. The entire booking and checkout process was smooth and hassle-free. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful food, amazing quality. I had the steak pie, and it was as good as any that I’ve had. A proper crust top bottom and sides. What a lovely old fashioned flavour to the crust too! Excellent gravy and superb beef. Succulent tender and oozing rich flavour. I have never before got to the end of a beef course before I realised that I hadn’t used the mustard. Veg cooked to perfection, slightly crisp but cooked through and very pleasing mashed potato. My companion had fish and chips, her haddock was amazing, crisp batter and lightly cooked flaky juicy flesh. The thicker portions and the slim ends of the fillets were both perfect. We both stuffed ourselves beyond normal as we didn’t want the treat to end. The service was friendly and helpful. Nothing was overlooked. It was one of those very rare meals where everything was spot on the mark.

Our visit to the Blue Bell was probably the best evening out we've had in a long time. Advertised as an old coaching inn we were pleasantly surprised by the very contemporary decor inside which gave it an up-market feel. The 3 members of staff we encountered were all welcoming, engaged in conversation and seemed to value our custom. The menu was quite extensive and varied with some traditional pub items, plus some with more unusual twists. When our food arrived it was absolutely amazing and all 3 courses were delicious, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. All portions were sufficiently but sensibly sized and in addition our mains came with ample servings of fresh vegetables, making for a healthier meal. The timing of the 'gap' between courses was good, we neither felt rushed, nor delayed. The added bonus to all this was the the prices which were quite reasonable for the standard of environs and food. I'm posting this review on both Trip Advisor entries that seem to appear for the Blue Bell Inn, as I believe them to be one and the same place! I think the location given for one entry at Milfield is inaccurate, which confused us as visitors to the area. I also consider that some of the reviews listed may not pertain to the Blue Bell, so read other reviews carefully - for example the reviewer who mentions walking from Wooler must have had a long walk!!!! (I'm guessing their review refers to the Black Bull in Wooler.) Many thanks to the Blue Bell chef, barman, waitress and manager for a perfect meal, and a brilliant end to a week in Northumbria.

We were looking forward to our meal here as previous reviews were good. Arrived on a snowy night and received modest reception. Pub seems to have been refitted recently and although nice it lacks cosyness and is too bright. Food was nicely presented but not particularly memorable after eating. Pudding portions were miserable for the high price. So ok but better places to eat in Wooler area.

The pub is comfortable and the staff very friendly and pleasant. This is in essence pub food and is nicely presented and served in an attractive, friendly environment. On the down side, the portions were really far too large and were of mixed quality (e.g. my chicken was very over-cooked although the risotto with it was very tasty). Additionally we had quite a long wait for our meal whilst others who arrived after us were served. For these reasons we would probably not choose to eat here again, which is a shame as it is a nice friendly pub.

I asked for lemonade and was given soda water, queried it with waiter who turned out to be the manager who said that he would get another. After waiting ten minutes a waitress was at another table and I queried where my drink was, she said she would go and find out. Another five minutes so I go up to go the bar myself to be met by the waitress who apologised and said that the owner had been busy talking to his regular customers.I am very happy his regular customers get such lovely service but as a visitor I wouldn't visit again and rate it accordingly.

We decided to eat here on a Sunday as we'd arrived on holiday the day before. We'd read some nice reviews and it was very local to the cottage. The bar itself seemed very nice. We ordered roast beef and a steak and ale pie. The roast appeared...with 1 roast potato. No explanation. Nothing. We called the waiter over and said we'd like more. He disappeared for 15 minutes and came out with 1 more. Bear in mind these weren't whole potatoes, they were quarters. The steak and ale pie was so bland. It really had no taste at all. The chips were frozen I'm sure. We complained to the manager who was running around in a frantic state saying it had been so busy and they'd run out of food. Why he didn't say any of this at the time I don't know. He really didn't seem interested and this was most probably because we were tourists and unlikely to be back. I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

We stayed three nights at the Blue Bell. We would have loved to stay on the coast but everything was booked in August. It is a bit of a drive if you are doing the Northumberland coast, but well worth the time spent getting over to the inn. The bedroom was clean, comfortable and well laid out with all the things you would expect from a bigger hotel. The staff are very friendly and the full English breakfast was simply enormous. We asked for less items on second day so the chef doubled up on the bacon, eggs and sausages. I can recommend the kippers which were cooked perfectly. The inn does reasonably priced evening meals as well as there isn't a lot of places to eat nearby without a drive. Overall recommended for a short break.

Stopped into the Blue Bell for an evening meal with family and friends. The menu was welcoming, as it clearly changes daily and offered a wide variety of home made delights. Most of us had a roast dinner, one had a vegetarian curry and everyone delighted at their choice. It was especially nice to have enough gravy in the roast dinner. We shared a selection of starters, all were delicious and clearly prepared on the premises. The puddings were the final treat - the sticky toffee pudding could serve two and, being having consumed many in our time, we agreed it was well up to standard! The atmosphere was quiet but friendly and the waiting staff were very attentive. Lighting the wood burner on cold, windy evenings would help to add that extra something, but did not detract from what was a lovely time.

We dined here on the recommendation of our B&B hosts. Ended up visiting two nights in the run as everywhere else locally was booked up. First experience was excellent. Well cooked, homely but good quality pub grub. Saturday night's experience was a little different. Clearly over-stretched, the cooking standard didn't quite match up and service was harassed. All in all though I think they deserve custom and I'm sure will go from strength to strength.

recommened by a village local and they weren't wrong, as we thought the pub was really quaint and the staff very friendly and welcoming...and on another plus side the food was really good value and plenty of it...hubs said they served a good pint too, so we left very satisfied thankyou

We called in for an early evening meal and ate in the conservatory which has a lovely countryside view. The waitresses were friendly and welcoming and we all enjoyed our meals and drinks (good wine!). The pub had a very relaxed and comfortable feel and was nice and clean too. We'd definitely be happy to eat here again.

An absolute gem on the Holy Island! We stopped here to grab a sandwich, some cake, and a drink to take with us as we explored the island. The customer service was excellent, the owner was an absolute delight and super helpful. The food is delicious, and a really good selection too! And on top of all that they sell maps and books of the island as well, it really is a must visit and a one stop shop for everything you need on your island adventures!

Fantastic!! Service, food and value, 6 of us all had different meals. All served together piping hot, huge quantities and absolutely gorgeous. Couldn't manage a pudding but they looked fabulous too.

Stopped in for breakfast on the way to do a walk at Kielder. Loved the place. Fantastic , well cooked , quality breakfast. Decent size and good value at £10.50 including toast and a brew. Couldn’t fault the food. One of the best breakfasts we’ve had. Ticked all the boxes for us. Dog friendly. Liked Falstone so much did a walk from there instead of Kielder and came back to the Old School for dessert. Bread and Butter pudding with cream or custard ! Although I was tempted by the Old School sponge. Thank you for a lovely experience
