Not a restaurant, but a shop. We've visited previously and saw inside the smokehouse, but were here for kippers this time. As we were staying elsewhere, the very knowledgeable lady behind the counter said we'd better have the vacuum packed version, so they wouldn't stink out the car, and then told us how to prepare the kipper so they wouldn't stink out the house! They were just delicious. Also the Crab Terrine in jars is just wow. It's worth the trip if you're in the area.

We visited to buy two unsliced sides of smoked salmon, one for our friends as a thank you , and one to take home. We shared our side with family who raved about the texture and taste! Our local friends knew the Robson family and recommended them. From outside you can see the smoking trails on the roof of the smoker. The shop has an excellent stock of deli items, frozen fish and smoked items. Highly recommend a visit, and The Fishermans Arms pub/restaurant is opposite...how good is that ?

After a busy day we went to Craster to buy the “world famous” kippers to take back to Lincoln for ourselves and my mother. We arrived in Craster and could not find any parking nearby, I have to use crutches due to severe arthritis so in the end my husband dropped me off just after 4:30. There was a lady there and I asked if they were open, the answer was “no, we close at 4:30” I felt thoroughly deflated and went away with nothing. As a result I am rating this company on their customer service as I’m unable to try the kippers.

Well worth a visit to Robsons to buy smoked fish. The quality and taste of their fish is second to none. We went there to buy some hot smoked salmon which is phenomenal. However we ended up buying smoked mackerel and smoked cod and haddock, spending nearly £100. The service is excellent, friendly and welcoming. If you like smoked fish this is the place to go, none of that awful dyed fish, just traditionally smoked and delicious

This is a shop, not a restaurant They make the best ever kippers here. But on this visit we were looking to source something for a picnic lunch. They offer a wide range of goods and we purchased a dressed crab and some rolls: excellent they were too. We could equally well have chosen some smoked salmon or kipper pate. We will be back, obviously

As well as selling their famous kippers the shop sells a range of other 'fishy' products like smoked salmon (delicious), fresh fish (we chose halibut), fish soups etc. plus a small range of other items. Definitely worth a visit while in Craster even if there's a queue outside (which is common). They were selling whole frozen cooked lobster when we were last there for £7 - ridiculously cheap.

What a find. There’s nothing much in Craster by way of shopping but The Kipper Shop makes up for that. Wonderful fish - we bought four large frozen lobster- a really good price and magnificent eating. Also I bought some fish soup and lobster soup( in jars) as that’s hard to come by. I wish I could have bought more of their other offerings but the long journey home prohibited that. I can always order by post - and I will. We had tried the Craster kippers for breakfast in the hotel and they were divine- really meaty and a subtle smoke which was very tasty- a world apart from bright orange vacuum packed supermarket kippers. Last but not least, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff serving in the shop. They brought up a box of lobster for us to handpick the ones of our choice. A bright clean shop with lots of other delicacies on offer. The local honey was out of stock but sounded fab too. And also importantly, the shopping process was excellently managed in the face of ongoing COVID. Masks required in the shop. This is definitely one of those little gems of a shop- rarely found. Highly recommended.

Disappointingly their restaurant was closed but the shop was busy so I ordered 10 pairs (20 kippers) for £50 plus £5 postage to be sent to my home address in the south. These arrived on the day requested and in perfect condition. My son-in-law and I breakfasted on three yesterday ; experimenting between the two recommended methods of cooking. We thought two and half minutes on full microwave heat was easily the best as the kipper retained all its essential healthy oils and flavour but DO remember to cover the kipper to prevent any drying. I have regularly walked along the coast to Robsons shop, usually to buy their delicious halibut and of course their famous kippers and other "fishy" goodies. They have recently "upgraded?) the shop. Where are the old familiar faces behind the counter? Where was the halibut? Who wants to buy overpriced jars of jam & packets of biscuits that all the farm shops have moved onto? I didn't want any of the numerous fish cakes...(certainly didn't want jam or biscuits!) but I didn't want to walk miles home with nothing and we have loved their kippers for 50 years so that is what I bought. Why were they vacuume packed? And so large..and as it turned out, so pitifully smoked and pasty looking? I don't think I will be going into the shop on my next walk.

The restaurant is in a lovely position overlooking the quaint harbour. The service was extremely good with friendly, knowledgeable staff. We enjoyed the lunch - there was a good choice on the menu - especially the soup. The kippers would have benefitted from being on a larger plate!

I'd heard about the smokehouse in the Sunday Times so called in the shop when visiting Craster, didn't go to the restaurant. The shop is small and most of the stock is in fridges below the counter. I bought Kippers and kipper fishcakes, both were delicious. I think the kippers were the best I have tasted. So good I called in again to get some more fishcakes for the freezer.

This cosy little place offers mainly fish and enfold but does offer some alternatives. The staff are delightfully and go out of their way to be welcoming and interested in you. The smoked Haddock I ate was just first class

An absolute gem on the Holy Island! We stopped here to grab a sandwich, some cake, and a drink to take with us as we explored the island. The customer service was excellent, the owner was an absolute delight and super helpful. The food is delicious, and a really good selection too! And on top of all that they sell maps and books of the island as well, it really is a must visit and a one stop shop for everything you need on your island adventures!

Fantastic!! Service, food and value, 6 of us all had different meals. All served together piping hot, huge quantities and absolutely gorgeous. Couldn't manage a pudding but they looked fabulous too.

Stopped in for breakfast on the way to do a walk at Kielder. Loved the place. Fantastic , well cooked , quality breakfast. Decent size and good value at £10.50 including toast and a brew. Couldn’t fault the food. One of the best breakfasts we’ve had. Ticked all the boxes for us. Dog friendly. Liked Falstone so much did a walk from there instead of Kielder and came back to the Old School for dessert. Bread and Butter pudding with cream or custard ! Although I was tempted by the Old School sponge. Thank you for a lovely experience
