Black Dog is a real gem in Halesworth! The food is consistently delicious and beautifully presented. The staff are always incredibly friendly and welcoming, making it a real pleasure to dine there. The atmosphere is buzzing and we love their coffee, sausage rolls and sweet treats! Highly recommend!

Brilliant prices, cod and chips and a drink + curry sauce or mushy peas for £9.50, really decent portions. Lovely, friendly staff and the food was delicious. Been coming here once a month for the last few years. I'm surprised it doesn't get busier

very efficient escorted to our table on arrival, our waitress was excellent making us feel important, nothing was too much trouble and we were not rushed at all. Sadly I didn't get her name I feel she is a credit to your organisation. Food was also well presented and we loved the revised menu and salad bar!

What a find!!!!!! This is a must visit if you are in the area on holiday, the staff were great, the food was outstanding. We both had Roast Beef, it was delicious beef that melted in your mouth, the roast potatoes, veg, yorkshire pudding, gravy, horseradish and parsnip crisps were all WOW! We were on a boat, booked a table in advance and given instructions on where to moor and then walk. From the River Waveney you can moor at Worlinhgam or North Cove (both free BA moorings), about 25-30min walk, just perfect, can't wait to return, thank you!

I was disappointed that I could not have a gluten free sandwich for lunch. I requested a salad as an alaternative, clearly stating no vinaigrette, therefore I was surprised to find red onions that had been pickled, there is no mistaking the taste of vinegar. When questioned the staff checked with the kitchen, then adamently told me there wasn't any vinaigrette on the salad. They seemed unable to accept that the onion was pickled in vinegar and therfore I did not want it included in my salad. After this we ordered coffee. Two cafetiers appeared with only one cup. We waited about 10 minutes and then my aunt went to the bar to enquire where the other cup was and a latte. She saw that the waitress was then about to come over, so she did not say anything. When the waitress arrived she slammed the cups on the table and did the same with the card payment machine. My family and I felt this was extremly rude. Customer service skills need to be improved!!!

Pleasant enough stay. Rooms mostly clean but extremely dated. Nice powerful shower, which was appreciated but the shower cabinet itself a bit old & yukky. Good hairdryer, but no plug near the mirror. Delicious full English breakfast but really tough ‘slow roast pork’ for our evening meal. Even a steak knife struggled and the crackling was impossible to cut. I’d say ‘dog tolerant’ rather than ‘dog friendly’. Would I return… probably not; but that’s just my personal point of view.

Very very busy Sunday lunch service. Roast beef and all the trimmings, nice wobbly panacotta with ice cream. So tasty, one of the best Sunday lunch meals we’ve had in a long time. The staff are great friendly and helpful. The chefs who cooked our food produced quality food. Well done.

The change in this pub is amazing. The whole inside has been changed and Karl is doing the most amazing job keeping everyone happy. Saturday night stone baked pizza night is something else. We had 2 for take away and the freshness was amazing and so full of flavour. If you like a pizza Saturday is not to be missed. We have had the best night ever thanks to Karl and his team.

Initially great communication on booking esp as I wasn’t getting confirmation from family. However, all clarified 3 days before we were due. Really quirky place, didn’t know where to look for bits and pieces but loved it. Although being a nurse, I had to hide by eyes from dust, dirt and hair - thankfully tables were clean and kitchen looked clean as well. It is dog friendly, which is great and I did inform them I have a big dog who will curl up in a corner. Arrived with family, staff were out back in the kitchen. Waited a bit to be seated and was shown to a tiny table for 2, next to fire guard with nowhere for my dog to sit. Asked to go the just vacated corner table. Sally (presume, as knew everyone and was cooking and serving) approached us saying ‘only booked for 2, advised it was always 3 but happened to be a change in menu chose. This chose benefitted them, financially. I didnt bother arguing, but did check my messages and she had confirmed everything. Anyway, drinks served and then noticed a small sign by the cash till saying ‘cash only’. I was not advised this on booking or anywhere on fb page. This meant I had to borrow my sister cash card and drive 10mins to Tesco to get cash. On return, cold latte awaited with my sister placing saucer over the top. Food came out. We had high tea, freshly made, so much and really delicious. We had to remind them about the sandwiches for myself and my sister as they never came out with everything else. They were attentive and friendly once the food came out. I am in 2 minds whether to go back again as the welcoming and cash incident did affect my opinion. I would have to be consider who I took there as know my mum would not like the cleanliness. However, as said food was amazing.
