First and foremost, the staff were all lovely….very pleasant, polite, helpful and attentive. Secondly, our room was also nice….very spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The location was good, right near to Southwold, free parking, easy to find. We were, however, disappointed with our evening meal. There was some confusion about where we could sit and when we could eat. We were told we couldn’t eat between 6 and 7.30 as it was full, yet were sat on a table in the restaurant by ourselves from 5.30pm ish. One member of staff said we could order at any time, another eventually said there had been some cancellations so if we wanted to order before 8 we could. Not a massive deal, but it would have been nice to sit at a table in the bar area, rather than be in a side room with little atmosphere. When our food arrived the breaded chicken with garlic butter (so basically a Kiev) was absolutely crucified on the outside. However, it tasted ok although the garlic butter was pretty non-existent (most likely dried out). The burger was of very poor quality; tasted and looked more like a frozen patty. The chips were also incredibly dry. We didn’t complain about our food, as there was not much they could do about the quality of ingredients. Plus we needed to eat as there isn’t anywhere else local to grab a bite to eat. We also tipped given that the staff were so attentive. Based on our mains we didn’t opt for a dessert and also decided against going for breakfast, which was included in our room rate. All in all the place is nice and staff are great, but in genuine honesty they need better quality ingredients and also the chef needs to ensure he/she is cooking things to a better standard.

Great pub. Really friendly staff, good choice of drinks and food. Dog friendly too! We were warmly welcomed and asked to choose a table. Good selection of food, I had the ham and cheese ploughman’s…which was yummy; well presented with plenty of ham and a big chunk of cheese along with warm bread, selection of pickles and a crispy fresh salad. Husband had fish and chips, which looked and tasted delicious. Well worth a visit, you won’t be disappointed!

Had dinner with friends as we were staying nearby. It's walkable from Wangford in 10-15 minutes. There was no wine list so little choice and many beers were off. Food was better than typical pub but not as good as the Angel nearby. Service was very friendly and generally efficient

This pub was only a 15 minute walk from where we were staying and it was dog and vegan friendly, so it was only natural that we made a stop there. It was nice and quite inside (which suited the dog) and a small, but very tasty menu. I had a Cromer Crab linguine with Chilli and lime dressing and it was great, the vegan option was a roast artichoke salad and that also went down a storm. The kids menu was your standard fare, but the little enjoyed it none-the-less TLDR: Very nice food, reasonable prices.

Great place to have the most fantastic meal. A loverly pub in a great location. The chef cooked the best steak I’ve ever eaten. Thank you it was cooked to perfection. Food was good, very fresh fish but just a shame that we had to keep our coats on because we were so cold. We did ask for heating to be turned on but our radiator must have needed attention as it remained cold. My 95 year old aunt was frozen through and we had to leave before having dessert or coffee. Very disappointed not to see the fire roaring, or even alight. Staff may have been warm but we were all too cold to enjoy the experience.

We have been to this restaurant a few times and always enjoyed the food. This evening was no different. Chose Swordfish with prawns and black pepper, it was delicious, with a few G&Ts Hubby had the same, it’s not something he would normally try( he’s very conventional) but he really enjoyed it. Staff professional and offer a friendly service.

Dined here twice over the half term, we have missed this food so long, we knew this was the chef who was from The Red Lion southwold, we would eat there most nights during our holidays, we have so missed our fabulous dinners, we have now found our favourite place to eat, again. Everything fresh tasting, huge portions, value for money. Staff very friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble for them, lovely garden with outside seating and swings for the children. Fabulous and we will be back.

Thought we'd try this local pub for lunch but were not impressed by the food. The positive thing about this place is the staff who were genuinely friendly. The menu seemed interesting, if limited and I went for the burger (£9.50). It was a tough old thing in a stale sesame seed bun, served with frozen skinny chips and a bit of salad. What a disappointment it was and quite difficult to finish as it was so dry and uninteresting. You could not have put less effort into a burger if you tried. We had a number of different dishes on the table and the only one that seemed to go down well was the chicken curry. We will not be going back for quite a while. Perhaps we’ll try again next year.

had a nice lunch, well presented food but unfortunately the burger was a little rare for my wife. The only other issue was they salted the fries before hand which isn't a good move, our fruit crumble was very good to finish off..... the bar-man was very helpful and courteous even said the chef could make something else if they had it, which is always a nice touch. The pub also had a warm atmosphere, and the smell of a wood burning fire always adds that glow to a winters day.

We had an early Friday dinner here so the place was very quiet with only about 10 other people in there. The barman was very friendly and set up a tab as we ordered our drinks. The menu is on a blackboard wall and there was a very good range of items to choose from. We enquired about kids food and were told that most items can be done half size for kids. For starters we all shared the pate and an antipasti platter. These were both excellent and both pate and onion chutney seemed homemade. The pub dog them arrived, a very friendly black lab. We were asked if we minded and were told to tell the barman if it bothered us. The kids adore dogs and so played with it before the main course. My main was the slow cooked pork with black pudding, mash, crackling and gravy. It was cooked to perfection and the sauce was so tasty. It also looked fantastic, very gastropub. My son and partner has the homemade burgers that were very tasty in a brioche bun, homemade chips, salad and a tomato chutney. Thumbs up from both. Our daughter had a children s size butternut squash lasagne with a deep fried rocket topping. I liked the fact that they kept the topping even for the kids version (we could have it without) as my daughter loves rocket. I had a taste and it was very tasty indeed. She ate the lot without any prompting which for her is a sign she loved it.All in all I would say that if you are in the area then definitely put it on your list of places to try.

It's refreshing to find a good old English country Inn serving great food. The atmosphere is lovely, no loud music, just the chatter of happy drinkers and diners. The food is great and cooked fresh. Our favourites are the Antipasti starter, homemade crackling sticks, Belly Pork and the homemade Steak & Kidney Pudding with Mashed Potatoes & Savoy Cabbage... and why not round off a perfect meal with the Sticky Toffee Pudding mmmmmThe Plough Inn at Wangford is certainly worth the drive from Lowestoft, and we try to go once a week or fortnight.Relax and enjoy!

We met friends for dinner at the Plough, none of us having been before we thought we would try 'somewhere different' for a change. Lovely atmosphere, small but very diverse menu, something for everyone. Starters were very generous, we had chicken liver parfait, baked Camembert (two shared) soup and the huge Antipasti! Main meals were excellent. The burger for one of us arrived rather rare and was sent back. Our host was extremely gracious about it we were not made to feel uncomfortable about it. We ordered one desert that unfortunately got forgotten, however because of this we were given it free and it was delicious!Altogether we had a lovely meal and will definitely go back. We visited The Plough on a recommendation of a family member. We had some fantastic food. My husband and I had a baguette each which were very tasty and the chips that came with it were delicious. My 81 year old mum who came with us had a giant piece of beer battered cod which she said was lovely and believe me she is quite hard to please. The only thing I would say is that it began to feel a little chilly in there after a while, so if you feel the cold perhaps take an extra layer.Overall though it was a very good visit, so give it a go.The price was very reasonable as well, we had three one course meals and three drinks all for just over £26. So, it's not easy to find the Plough if you follow its address of High St, Wangford, as it's actually outside the village on the A12. But, lovely comfortable décor inside, and gorgeous Hank Wangford (dog!) to greet you (who was positioned in an armchair by the fire when we arrived). It was a very quiet, dismal night when we went in early January, but the welcome was warm. A nice surprise, as my usual haunts were all shut for first few weeks of January, and I wouldn't have found the place otherwise. The landlord is very interesting, and very amenable - a smaller menu than usual was offered but we didn't struggle to choose something, and we swapped sauces, jus n vegetables from some dishes to others (awkward blighters) without a problem. We ordered 2 portions of the crackling to have with drinks, little did we know these are a fabulously large portion, so my piggy Ma was forced to eat about 30 pieces. She didn't complain! The food was good, and priced well. I hope when I go back the place will be busy as it really deserves to be. Does rooms too and would make a good base for exploring the area. No road noise from bar. Your doggies welcome.

This pub and restaurant on the A12 just near Wangford is an absolute delight. The host Daniel and is beautiful black lab Hank are as welcoming as the pub itself which is beautifully decorated and very cosy. We had heard good things about this place from a couple of sets of friends and they were right. The menu I suppose some might say is a little limited but there is something for everyone on there and the food itself was excellent. I guess a slightly strange location on a main road but definitely worth a visit so please take the time.

I’ve been here for a few afternoon teas and lunches. The food is always lovely and cooked well, the themed afternoon teas are always really fun and a great treat for the local area. However the staff are not very attentive, they give you your food/drinks and leave you! It states unlimited drinks but they don’t ask if you need more, they don’t even check if your food is okay or if you need anything. At one point my friend said ‘excuse me’ and tried getting the attention of staff at the table next to us and the staff member just walked away, when we finally managed to ask for more tea they huffed like we were an inconvenience. There were also loads of hairs on our food, I think they were blowing around because they just kept appearing, maybe because they allow dogs. It’s a shame because I love the afternoon teas but it has put me off.
