Since we moved here, we have pretty much tried every chip shop, and were delighted to finally discover this one! No wonder it was voted Best in Suffolk! The portions are huge, the chips are really great, and I can't fault anything!

Terrible place from start to finish! Staff aren’t interested, boss is rude & the wait times are ridiculous absolutely ridiculous food also isn’t worth the high pricing or the wait when there’s a kebab shop next to them.

Fantastic fish and chips, they were perfectly cooked and they were great portion size. The staff and owner really friendly, will be my regular for fish and chips now.

It was our first time going here the food is excellent and well worth the money the portions are very generous too. The service by Alex and Kacey was brilliant they are very friendly and welcoming of new and regular customers. I can see why they won best fish and chip in suffolk in 2023 and hopefully win again this year. You now have 2 new regular customers as our food was so delicious and filling thank you

This has been worst order from here. After waiting TWO HOURS for delivery the batter on all of the order was overcooked and chewy, little ones nuggets were really overcooked. I can’t understand why it was like this as other times been reall good

I don’t usually leave reviews but this place definitely needs to be recognised. Can’t recommend this place enough. Spent years looking for a decent chip shop that’s cooks in Vegetable oil. The fish is massive if anything a bit too big and cooked to perfection so was the chips. Also great value for money. Even took the skin off my fish for me. AMAZING ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

the service was quick and right to it. i ordered the large cod, chips and curry sauce and i must say the portion size did not disappoint whatsoever. everything was fresh and piping hot, staff were very friendly and talkative, this was on a busy day so that says a lot. i can’t recommend this place enough!

We had food here tonight was really busy but we got our food quickly was really nice food and Alex was bang on the service in store was amazing and we even got a free bottle of drink and the kids got a capri sun and lolly each!!! Can’t recommend this place enough

We were really impressed with our takeaway fish and chips (delivery order). We order a skate, which was off the plate massive, even though it was “medium” on the menu. We also got a large cod, which came as two cod! Plus medium chips and plenty of them! Everything tasted great; would certainly recommend!

Completely pointless. I order via the app with a collection time of 6pm. I arrive at 6pm to collect my order only to be told that it's Friday and they're busy and then wait until after 6:30 before I finally get my order. I made the perfectly reasonable and constructive suggestion that if they knew that they couldn't provide the food on time then that they should have let me know, or even better adjust their promised times accordingly during busy periods. This suggestion was just met with blank looks and repetition of "well it's Friday". Disappointing waste of my time, pleasant but unresponsive staff, ok fish and chips but not with the extended waiting time.

Came here to get dinner today. It was really busy even on a Thursday so that says a lot in itself. The portion sizes are excellent and the fish was fresh and super tasty. Lovely staff and very good value for money.

We visited here because we were looking for gluten free for our daughter. The lady who served us went out of her way to make us feel welcome, she was lovely. Food was tasty too. If we ever visit Oulton again we will definitely come back.

I can honestly say that this is the best fish and chip shop we’ve ever been too. We were last here in August 2022 and when we knew we were coming back this was the first place we agreed we were getting dinner. The food tonight was fantastic and still the best Chip Shop we’ve ever been too. The fish was fresh and cooked to perfection, chips were perfect, curry sauce thick and tasty and my son’s chicken, in his words, was crispy and tender. I’m afraid I don’t know the names of the staff but I did speak to Becky and they were all really nice. In summary, if you are visiting the area or even live locally and have considered trying here then you really must give them the chance to impress you as I’m certain they will. Thanks Oulton Road Fish and Chip Shop, we will be back 😁

Fabulous. By far the best fish & chip shop I've ever been to. Friendly clean and they gave me some free stuff without any other reason, than just being nice. 3 Medium Cod and alk were HUGE.

Manager and all his staff work incredibly hard with this fish shop. Food is always piping hot , prices are great and atmosphere with in there is great . We don't go anywhere else for fish and chips.

Oulton Road chip shop by far the best always amazing food and great atmosphere

I’m highly disgusted in the event that occurred last night at oulton Road chip shop! Me and my partner had just got fish and chips and went to the co-op next door. we already felt a bit uneasy as the tension from behind the counter was high. the boss was very agitated and the employees were clearly on edge. the one girl who was at the till looked very upset and scared along with the a girl who was calling out orders. we collect our food and left and as we came out of the shop we heard arguing coming from the chippy. we walked past and saw the young girl at the till crying whilst the boss was screaming and shouting in her face. Both me and my partner were motified! a middle age man screaming in a teenage face is completely unacceptable! we say back in the car and shortly after he shut the doors as he continues to shout. I won’t be returning as I think this is absolutely disgusting considering they are trying there hardest to work!

1st time in long while we’ve used this particular chip shop.but absolutely fantastic food.only downside didn’t feel the large curry sauce was very big.and the young lady on phone so poilite as was young lady who deilevered.thank you b back soon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Over 2 hours and 30 minutes for a order to be cooked and delivered , when ring up and ask where the order is get different responses every time , sad because they used to be good and quick

I was delighted by the generous portion size at Suffolk's highest voted fish and chip shop. My photo couldn't quite capture the true size of the portion but the lunchtime special offer was more than enough for me. The quality also excels, but is it truly the best? Having tasted the fish and chips at Pablos, the Village Fryer, and the one on Gresham ave as well as other strong contenders, I really cant tell you, but I do know you will enjoy them.

The food tastes great but the delivery time is always slow. If you over a delivery, expect it to count down the hour to 00:00 and then stay for another hour or so. Dinner will become supper :D But it is fine it you do not mind the waiting.

Fantastic fish and chips, best ever, the place is really popular and that's possibly the problem. Last two times I've been I've waited over 45 minutes from ordering to coming out. Waiting that long you stand watching other people coming in, ordering and walking out long before you. But a small few of us stand there forever it seems. It's quite irritating watching many people seemingly jump ahead of you in the queue. Internet or phone orders I can understand being ready shortly after the customer comes in but walk-ins, no? So they need to get to grips more with fair waiting times for all. I've noticed people they seem to know and are on first name terms with are served very quickly. Otherwise the staff seem to be drowning in orders, not knowing which to do next, so perhaps they need a better system. Present one perhaps works to a certain level then seems to fall apart when they get too busy. However I can't criticise the staff at all. They all work really hard and are polite and friendly. I'm just put off going again because I haven't had a fair service. It's not like my order is ever large or complicated. Large cod, medium chips, small mushy peas. Maybe Kebab or Chinese next time.

Wife ordered for collection on the way home , arrived and shop was rammed people in and out constantly. Food was piping hot and cooked brilliantly. Batter was golden and crispy and light. Son was gobsmacked by the chicken strips and chips saying better than KFC. Great portion sizes and 10% off of collected . My go to chippy now. staff very friendly and enthusiastic also.

Best chippy about friendly and quick service

Huge portions of fish and chips (thankfully we didn’t order the large and just one chips between 2 of us - photo shows a quarter of the chips and half a medium haddock). Hadn’t pre-orderef? but served quickly, even though the place was packed. Pleasant and attentive staff. Only issue was how hot it was in the waiting area on a summer’s evening, with fryers on the go and so many people inside.

Fish and chips were delicious, young lady taking orders very nice and helpful. Sammy was happy and friendly. Definitely recommend.

Went in today to collect 2 x med chips and curry sauce, was charged 8.50. On checking menu when we got home we have been overcharged. The cashier even tried to short change us to. Food was lovely

We were struggling to find a chip shop still open and come out our way to this one while on holiday. Hands down the best chippy we've ever had. And the service was amazing, had a lovely chat with the staff. When they realised we had 2 girls in the car they gave us a couple of freebies which was so kind. Will definitely visit when in the area

Visiting the area on a break away looking for a decent fish and chips. Oulton Road fish and chips totally excelled and I cannot recommend them enough. Customer service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff are very friendly yet professional. Truly a pleasurable experience which continued to the table. Cod cooked to perfection, large flakes with perfect batter. Batter was the perfect amount without excess. Chips made with new potatoes and absolutely delicious. Mushy peas perfect not watery or dried out. Fried chicken lovely and tasty. Crispy skin with juicy chicken. Mars bars are also available and like everything else here perfect. Will be returning for certain on our next visit.
