We were staying in wrentham for the weekend and called in for a pint on the Friday and saw that Saturday was a tapas evening. So we booked a table for Saturday. Both the food and service were excellent. We would definitely visit again when next visiting the area.

Coq au Vin was fantastic - better than my own! Dog friendly, lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend.

We have just been to Horse and Groom for their French Evening. French Onion soup - perfect. Perfect boeuf bourguignon. Tarte tatin - so, so good. Thank you for a delicious meal/ evening & very welcoming staff.

Called in for lunch and wow. Very friendly welcome and a lovely pint of real ale to start with and the food was superb. I would certainly recommend a visit to this wonderfull country pub.

Great little find for a family. Fabulous garden with a play area, attentive and welcoming staff. Gave great advice on drinks and food. Fabulous menu all freshly cooked and delicious, great selection of food and specials available. Good quality food serve to a high standard.

Came here for a meal, very nice squid with rocket and then chicken breast in sweet chilli sauce. A little less chilli in the sauce for future dishes but otherwise very nice 😋

What a perfect find! We were staying at Kessingland beach and we drove past the Horse and Groom and thought we would stop and have a drink as we noticed the children's play equipment for the little ones to play. We ended up booking for Sunday lunch and went back a few days later. All the food was excellent and a good price. The bar staff were really friendly also.

What a lovely pub, we called in for a pint having just travelled to the area (for a week) and ended up having meals as menu looked tempting - glad we did as the food was outstanding (it was that good we went again later in the week). Really friendly staff great choice of food&drink and great prices.

Brilliant fast food! Quiet pub with a large outside area including kids play area, lots of parking spaces and very nice food!

My wife and I were welcomed at the pub by the landlady and offered a table without having to book. The service and food was excellent and the pub had a really nice feel about it. We will definitely be going back!

Such a lovely friendly pub, great service, the roast dinners were so lovely, proper home cooked food. 5 empty plates followed by 5 desserts!! We will definitely be returning. Highly recommended

What a friendly and welcoming pub - despite me bringing in the two noisiest sausage dogs in the world! We only stayed for a quick drink but the atmosphere was very relaxed. Loved the decor too - perfect.

Went in for a meal with some family and took advantage of the Easter Sunday deal. The burger was borderline perfect, the two beef patties were thick and cooked well the same with the bacon. My only gripe is I would've preferred thick chips to fries but that's personal preference. The ale selection isn't massively wide but the ales on offer are fine and good value. Good food, good ale and a fire, not much to complain about.

Absolutely fantastic meal, we went for the fish and fizz night, a two course meal and a mini bottle of Prosecco Staff were very helpful and attentive with such a lovely atmosphere in the little village pub. I had the smoked salmon bruschetta and pea and smoked haddock risotto and my partner the prawn and crayfish cocktail and monkfish everything tasted absolutely incredible. Brilliant size portions and value for money. I’ll definitely be going back for the next one

Fish and Fizz night was a winner and would definitely book again. The Horse and Groom is a small cosy country pub and restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. The hosts Tyler and Rob were very welcoming and we found all the staff very friendly. We attended Fish and Fizz night last night, both had smoked salmon bruschetta for starters and weren’t disappointed. Plenty on the plate and really delicious. I had the smoked haddock risotto with a soft poached egg which was to die for ( the egg was perfectly cooked) , the other half ordered fish bouillabaisse and I was reliably informed it was equally delicious. Highly recommend and will definitely be booking again. Great food, great atmosphere and great company 😊

Despite living locally to the Horse & Groom I have always passed it but never been in. I saw their Mothers Day menu online & it looked lovely so thought we'd give it a try. I was really surprised by how light & modern it was inside, with a lovely woodburner in the restaurant it felt really cosy. We were made to feel very welcome & the food was delicious. We had roasts & our children had food from the kids menu which they enjoyed. It was busy but the staff were very attentive & we didn't have to wait for anything. We particularly liked the desserts! A little gift for Mothers Day at the end of the meal was a lovely touch. We saw the garden outside by the parking area & thought it'd be a lovely place to bring the children back to in the summer (there's a climbing frame, slide & trampoline). Would definitely recommend to everyone.

What an amazing place to go to for lunch, husband had a delightful senior citizen offer of a superb two course meal and I enjoyed a lovely scampi and chips served by very friendly people. Really enjoyable lunch in a nice clean friendly atmosphere.

Spent a lovely evening last night with my son. Had an amazing meal. It was their Fish Night. Prawn Cocktail with Musical Bread 5* followed by Bouillabaisse which was delicious. Atmosphere warm and happy, service excellent. Thank you all.

Another lovely lunch at The Horse & Groom. We both had the pensioners lunch offer (Tuesday & Thursday lunch only) £12 for two courses. Scampi, chips & peas x2 & Chocolate Brownie x1 & Christmas Pudding with custard x1. All hot & delicious. The puddings were very much understated, the effort put into them is very much reflected in the moorish taste. Staff always helpful & welcoming & a cosy log burner to keep warm too. Thank you.

It’s been a while since visiting here and decided to have one of their Sunday roasts. The staff are very pleasant and the place is very clean and tidy. The roast topside of Beef was truly amazing. Plenty of quality meat, vegetables and home made gravy. The portions are generous, so I was unable to comment on the delicious sounding sweets. A good pint too. Highly recommended

Lovely little pub with a great local feel. We had a family meal here pre Christmas and the food was exceptional, could not fault it one bit. Menu provided options for vegetarians and children and all were pleased with what was on offer. Service was very attentive. Throughly recommend this place.

From the moment we entered until the minute we left it was amazing service. We had the Christmas pre booked dinner and others we have had have been not been good in other places. Everything was perfect (well I prefer custard in a jug which I had a chat with the owner after). Fabulous staff, a chef who seems to care not just about taste but presentation too. We loved it thank you x

This a really nice, family friendly, pub. Food was excellent - we all had Roast Beef and there was plenty of meat on each serving. The place itself has a nice atmosphere and, as it was the festive season, the interior was nicely decorated too. I love real local 'old school' pubs and this place ticks that box - only been once before and this is the first time I've eaten there; will go again!

Booked in for their Christmas Lunch. It was just delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Service excellent. Will certainly be visiting them again. We recommend.

Warm welcome and had the table by the wood burner.a cold day so had the beef stew good portions and the Herby dumplings which were perfect with the right amount of herbs.winter berry crumble huge good value and friendly staff.

We went back to the Horse and Groom after having an unacceptably long wait somewhere else for Sunday lunch-arrived at 3pm and tentatively asked if there was a table. We had a really friendly greeting and were told to choose a table and sat in the bar by the log burner. We ordered Blythburgh pork loin roast and lamb shank, which was on the specials board, and both were excellent! The meals came quickly, and the attention from staff couldn’t be faulted-will definitely return!

Amazing Sunday lunch, the Blythburgh Pork was cooked to perfection - plenty of roast potatoes and veg and home made Yorkshire pudding couldn’t fault it. My son had the stack burger and said that was also delicious. Dessert was sticky toffee pudding which was also delicious, toffee sauce was delightful. My son had the Crème Brûlée with homemade shortbread - in his words it was ‘Out of this world’ which for a fellow chef is high praise. Credit where credit is due, overall amazing food at a good price, friendly welcoming staff who looked after your every need and a wonderful friendly pub atmosphere.

Much improved on what it was at least you don’t stick to carpet now. still seems like a non league football club, bar staff friendly but can fill a bit clicky with locals around serving area only 2 beers on offer GK ipa and wheery shame when there are lots of good small breweries in these parts

Had Sunday lunch. We were a large group and service was good. Roast dinner was good but several of us disappointed with small portion of meat. Plenty of fresh veg. Dessert we chose was fruit dessert which for some just consisted of large slices of apple. Other people said they had very little fruit just hard biscuit like topping. All food was hot the staff were excellent serving a large group and we all ate at the same time. Slightly over priced.

Fantastic place for lunch, cosy & quaint, even without the fire alight. The staff are friendly & always welcoming. The pie & mash is my particular favourite. We meet there with friends regularly and I’m always happy with how the meal is.

Went for Sunday roast and wouldn't rush back. beef was tough, roast potatoes were tough as old boots, It seemed like they had been cooked the day before and then reheated, and you don't get much veg. Very expensive too like most of their menu is

Tried this pub again lots of larger and keg beer but from a real ale drinkers point not very good over heard owner saying she would like to have just 1ale on only 2 beers 1 was a very citrus amber if your going to keep just 2 beers surely go middle of the road the other was green king IPA not the sort of beer you would walk past 2 pubs to get one. Small serving area occupied by locals who don’t like to move out of your way I must say been in the building trade most my life and can swear but I learned some new words there, friendly barmaids would not like my wife or daughter having to put up with that

Lovely friendly pub with good food and a great atmosphere

A warm welcome, friendly service, good beer. My wife and I called in for an evening meal and were pleased that the dog was welcome. My wife had sea bass which she loved and I had the pie of the day...a proper pie, mind you, not a casserole with a pastry lid. The only downside was that my chips were a bit insipid but the tasty red wine jus took care of that

This has been a local for me for many years! It's so wonderful too see it packed! Food good... Atmosphere is amazing and run by a dear old friend that has brought it back to life! Staff helpful and friendly.... A must visit on your way through for a beer or even a spot to eat.

Popped in for evening meal and we were so glad we did as it had a lovely welcoming atmosphere..The food and drinks excellent, I really enjoyed my halumi burger and fries with lovely coleslaw on the side.desert was lovely also..and everyone was lovely even when our little dog made a big fuss when we left.. perfect start to our weeks holiday thanks all 👍👍

Great place for a bite to eat and pint

Had takeaway fish and chips. Fish was tasteless, and the batter was so greasy. Really was quite unpleasant. On the positive, you got a little pot of tartare sauce in the box.....helps add some flavour I suppose.

Wife ordered cheese and mayo ciabatta. Bland, no seasoning, no butter and best part was side salad. Odd smell in the side room like someone had thrown up the night before and wasn't cleaned up well. Staff later told my father in law they did not like the way I spoke to him. Despite this being wrong, it's none of their business how I speak to him or anyone except their own staff. Emailed pub to complain, no response. We will NEVER enter the premises again even if they paid me to eat their food and drink their beer. Disgusting.

Popped in for dinner while staying in the village. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and locals. Was a party of 11 in, only two staff on duty, despite this service was good. Small menu but something for all tastes and a varied special's selection. Food was tasty ,hot and reasonably priced. Would recommended you try this independent pub.

I recently moved to Wrentham and was trying out different pubs locally. This one I used whilst arriving home from Essex. I popped in and had lunch here around 1pm and they were still serving food. Twice I have been here alone and both times for lunch. So on this second visit I thought I’d write a review due to its excellence. I had sea bass previously and on this occasion; mackerel fillets. I was apprehensive of having this as there are many stray bones sometimes in mackerel. But I pressed ahead with my choice and I was pleasantly surprised!! Not one stray bone. The salad and potatoes complimented the dish. The table service was also great, as I was checked upon regularly to see if everything was okay by a beautiful waitress. Dessert was very rich and sugary. It was well presented and well made. But I think I struggle with desserts as they are a bit too sweet for my tastebuds. Next time I’ll try starter and main I reckon. Lovely pub with easy parking and friendly feel.
