Visited again for Sunday roast. Had the roast beef , really tender beef , delicious vegetables full of flavour and crispy roasts. Had the divine coffee panacotta for dessert and smooth rich coffee. Staff were attentive and service great. Didn’t disappoint second time here and will definitely be back. Booking advised on Sunday .

This is now actually called the Alde Cafe. I’ve been twice in the last three days. There are fancier places along the High Street, but you will not get a better meal there than you will find at the Alde. Sean is a brilliant cook who prepares every dish with both flare and a respect for tradition. It was the best fry up I have had in the last twenty years, and a welcomed alternative to the recent tendency of serving them up in thali dishes, with about a tablespoon of beans in one and a cubic centimeter of toast in another. I just had the kedgeree, which was magnificently prepared with haddock from the smokehouses along the Shingle. There are many reasons to come to ever-beautiful Aldeburgh. But I’d rank breakfast or lunch at the Alde Cafe at the very top of my list.

Had breakfast here Saturday, it’s a good job we used satnav as you’d never find it otherwise. Reduced menu was being served as chef at a wedding but choice on offer was perfectly adequate. An old fashioned greasy spoon. We really enjoyed the food, the produce seemed to be good quality and it was very reasonably priced. The 3 ladies working there were also lovely. The only negative was the overpowering offensive smell in the toilets. It was so bad I couldn’t even use the toilet and had to come straight back out again as the smell was making me physically heave. It was a mixture of a strong chemical smell mixed with the smell of a septic tank. I’m glad we ate before I went into the toilet as if I’d have gone in before ordering we’d have just left. To be clear although an update would not go a miss the toilets looked physically clean so I don’t know what was causing the smell but it needs sorting as it was unbearable. A shame as food and service were great

Having thought we'd spend the day in Suffolk, wandered up and down the high street looking for a place to have breakfast - which was really hard to find (a local independent place that sold more than tea and cake!) Came across The Chocolate Teapot which looked lovely from the outside and was dog friendly (inside too) 🐾 Staff were attentive, friendly and the food was lovely. We sat outside (as there were no tables left inside), but it was a lovely day, so it wasn't too cold for February. Poached eggs on a long thin slice of sourdough bread (cooked in butter or oil) was delicious. Eggs were runny and perfectly made. Also ordered a bacon and egg sandwich, again this was nice. We would certainly return back again. Thank you The Chocolate Teapot, first time to Aldeburgh and it was a great start to our day.

The roast was served Luke warm , hardly tepid , there was no one to tell , we started eating it , so it didn’t get stone cold , when a waiter finallly asked if everything was ok , we had nearly finished . We mentioned it to 3 waiters at the time of paying , and were told we shouldn’t have eaten it , they could’ve warmed it up . We don’t like making a scene at the time , so we paid £48 for 2 cold roast dinners , when we emailed with a complaint, we got a snotty reply . They are fake nice when you arrive when they want to take your money , but when they don’t live up to their side of the bargain by serving food at a reasonable temperature they don’t want to know .. we didn’t want warmed up food , they should get it right first time , the meals arrived almost immediately after ordering , so they are standing pre plated , and not served fresh .. very unprofessional and disappointing

From being greeted at the front door to being presented with our food was a joy . The oysters were plump and sweet , mushrooms in a tempura batter so light and a hearty sea food chowder that did not skimp on the fish were the chosen starters. The langoustine scampi with homemade fries were a great hit with our eldest child whilst the 3 of us tucked who tucked into the chilli crab linguine could not believe the amount of crab meat present without evidence of any shell. Hubby had the pork chop which was drizzled in a plum sauce and could not believe how succulent it was (certainly could not replicate this at home ).Sides of tender stem broccoli and creamy mash were ordered as extras were also delicious. We ordered lovely mocktails and beer such that we had no room for puddings. The cost reflected the quality of the ingredients and we would certainly recommend eating here

nice spot, with seating indoors & out. Great selection of cakes/pastries and a pretty good menu with a specials board. really nice that brunch options are served all day. I gave a lower score only because we were let down a bit by service & food quality. At the till there was a little confusion as they didn't have everything i ordered - but i thought sorted out until at the table realised i had been overcharged, which they did correct after going back! The food arrived quickly and looked good - but we had 2 dishes that turned out really very salty. I'm not sure if it was just a mistake, but it spoiled the hot food.
