The Parrot and Punchbowl in Suffolk Coastal

Our party of 5 was virtually ignored by staff who didn’t take our order until 30 minutes and after one of the party asked at the bar. Not all the food arrived said to be not entering system. Left not having any mains. Our bill had an item which was ordered but never arrived.

Excellent warm welcome and service. Really authentic servers. Dog friendly despite rain - our pre booking was all set up up in the Snug. Very attentive service and scrummy food. No early pre service ask for a tip like we experienced at the Dolphin in Thorpeness before we were even served earlier in the week. Highly recommend .

Came for dinner tonight (Friday, 3 adults & 3 children) and have to say the food was spot on! Kids menu was really good with steak, burger and veggie noodles chosen. Nice change to the more typical choices and polished off by the 3 of them! Scallops as a starter were bang on the money, and the cod for main was delicious. We had a real mix of desserts (including cheese) but the “Death by Chocolate “ was amazing! All in all a cracking dinner out in a very pleasant pub!

A fantastic old pub full of charm , friendly efficient staff, superb Sunday roast and divine desserts. Absolutely delicious. One of the best roast we have had . All home cooked to perfection. Will definitely go again. Booking advisable on Sundays.

There tonight friendly service, had fresh white bait and cheese board both of which was very good and generous. In fact much better than the lunchtime meal at the famous Lighthouse in Aldeburgh. Watched the England match while young Harry served clients very attentively. Great to see a local pub giving great value and service.

We popped in here for lunch on a visit to Suffolk. Very warm welcome and friendly service throughout. Nice varied menu. My wife had the scallops for starters and steak for mains, I had the potted beef and bacon & brie sandwich. All very well cooked and delicious. They keep a decent pint too! Highly recommended and we will return next time we are in Suffolk.

Visited the night before to check out the beer and the level of dog friendlyness. Found it very friendly with dogs welcome in the snug and semi outside space. The next night we returned for diner, I had the stake frites and my wife had the lamb chops. The food was very well cooked, a lovely peppercorn sauce, great chips, shared a pud which was just right. Will definitely be back when we are next in the area, the staff are really welcoming and overall, decent value and a good night.

Service was friendly, slow but friendly. Crab & spring onions fish cakes were 99% breaded mashed potato, the sauce was pretty bland- not worth the £16+, my friend had a very strange pear pasta which was just a pile on stodgy green weirdness.No dessert as they were unimaginative. Hmmmmm there’s a lovely pub garden, we’ll probably return for a liquid lunch but nothing more.

Sunday lunch was the worst food I have ever eaten beef was raw under cooked veg that was not a chef cooking that Sunday if it was they need to stop

Stopped for a lunchtime drink, friendly. cosy and inviting. We didnt eat on this occassion but the menu looked good and food excellent. We will return to eat in 2024.

My relatives took me to this pub restaurant where they had eaten before, my first time. Everything was excellent, from the choice of meals, quality of food, efficiency and friendly service. I would definitely return.

Warm and welcoming pub with a varied menu and some unusual and delicious dishes. Every effort made to accommodate a gluten free diet.

You have to eat here I had Sunday lunch the roast beef was fabulous the roast potatoes great everything was good pudding death by chocolate amazing

I have absolutely no idea why there are any negative reviews for this pub. I have eaten at many local pubs and restaurants in the Orford and outlying areas and nothing comes close to the excellent food and service here. If you want usual tasteless pub fayre then this is not for you. If you want a variety of beautifully cooked and presented food then you won't be disappointed. The Staff are friendly and engaging and the pub itself cosy and inviting. Ignore the moaners because I assure you this is a gem of a pub with a very professional kitchen and when you set the standard there will always be people trying to put you down. Keep up all the hard work and thank you for serving us yet another memorable meal and looking after us.

Read great reviews online do whilst on holiday gave it a go; we were not disappointed. The manager was lovely and very helpful (he also fell ‘in love’ with our little 3 legged aging dog 🥰😂), the young waiter very efficient too. Steak fabulous, monkfish with samphire delicious, The Outside Inn was really cool and surprisingly cosy with the heaters.

Came to celebrate our birthdays with an evening meal, chose to sit in the outside inns our dogscould come too. Staff were friendly, there just didn't seem to be enough of them so there were some ling waiting times and we felt a bit forgotten. There was piped music when we arrived but it went off after about 30 minutes so there wasn't much atmosphere. Having said all that the food was excellent and that's what we were there for, and as said previously the staff were friendly. We will go back when next in the area as it is a favourite of ours

Disappointing meal. Both of us chose the Sirloin Roast. Sirloin very good, medley of vegetables in a tasty gravy very nice. However Yorkshires black on top and watching other meals served all were black on top. Worst aspect was the roast potatoes, each of us had 3 small barely warm potatoes, they were clearly not freshly cooked, chewy and rubbery outsides but spongy inners. To the Waiters credit he did immediately replace with better ones but still same consistency but hot. Management not really interested too focused trying to cope with the very busy conditions, many tables could be seen asking for drinks and to have their orders taken. Quite a disappointing visit perhaps better when not so busy. Would I return, probably not unless only eatery open within 10 miles.

We really enjoyed our meal here . The menu was more interesting than the usual pub menu. Well prepared and presented. Thank you. Flowers and candles created a relaxed atmosphere. Only downside for us was unnecessary music when just wanted to chat.

On holiday locally, we decided to give the Parrot a go. Great food, proper Beefburger and Chips. Grown-up daughters loved the chicken breat burgers. Steak and chips for the other half.... he likes his steak thick, so was a little disappointed, cooked to rare as requested.. Would have loved to try the crab linguine, but sadly heading home and didn't get a chance to go back again. Lovely ambience sat in the outside seating area as also had the family dog with us. We go back when we next visit.

Very limited menue and only seving lunch for 2 hours on a Saturday. £17.50 for a simple beefburger and chips!!!! Very run down . Moved on to its sister pub in Thorpeness.the Dolphin. Great vibe ,great service. Dint mind paying £17.50 here for my burger and chips. 5 stars!!!!

Fabulous ❤️ first of all , upon arrival, we were met by a very friendly man . We were made to feel so welcome and that they were there to make our meal experience the best (which it most definitely was ! ) From the minute we arrived , we were looked after. The meal was the best I have had for a very long time. We had a chicken burger which was delicious. Not your average burger as it was so delicious but the who plate was also yummy! We just had to go for a pudding . Choc to die for was heavenly while hubby had a raspberry tart, equally delicious. The two men serving us were very attentive and our evening was a delight. It was so worth the 20 min car journey. I recommend this establishment and give it an easy 100 out of 100 ! Thank you so much for such a lovely evening. Xx worth every penny !
