This is a great place for a large, well cooked breakfast, By 9.30am most of the tables were full and I can see why. Friendly staff, good tea, excellent food and a lovely local relaxed atmosphere. I had the Bubble and Squeak with extra mushrooms and bacon, and it was lovely; good portion, well cooked.

A beautiful setting by the water on a sunny evening, 1st was the house red wine which was delicious followed by an amazing 3 courses, The organic beef short rib which was a delightful & one of the best starters I have ever tasted ( please make this a main course) I then went for the rump of lamb which was cooked to perfection & then finished with a knickerbocker glory! What a treat!!! Our waiter Daniel was excellent & very attentive & knowledgeable about the dishes he also kept our wine topped up, we will certainly return so we can sample more of this superb menu, thanks for making our Saturday evening a memorable one.

It feels like home from home, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. The food is fresh, presented beautifully and at a decent price! You aren't just getting a great meal or drink though, you become part of the community to help people develop their catering and hospitality skills. You'll leave feeling full of nice food and the positive warm fuzzy vibes

We visited for Sunday lunch on spec. We had tried to book but system was not accepting bookings due to a recent hiccup. New owners are very welcoming and we had an excellent Sunday lunch here, also nice puds (but the custard should be hotter :)) Staff are attentive and the service is great. The food is excellent, and you can add in cauliflower cheese if wanted. This will be somewhere we will visit again.

Been waiting patiently for 3 months to try this place and wow we wasn’t disappointed. No probably about it this was the best roast dinner we ( 4 people in agreement ) have ever had. We went easy on starters as heard portions were big. Shared the fried olives which were lovely and very different , some breads with the burnt onion butter ( this butter is like spreading air , delightful) and scallops were excellent. We upgraded for 3 of us to the prime rib and one had the sirloin. Think Rib was £110 complete with trimmings , works out about £5 pp extra against normal sirloin but wow well worth it . The trimmings and Perfectly crisp roasties were in abundance . I have had some lovely roast dinners but there is no way I see this can be beaten , faultless!! Unfortunately a five month waiting list! Michelin star roast without a shadow of a doubt , parking easiest by the abbey near fish pool street👍

Lovely place to get freshly made sandwiches. The bacon and sausage sandwiches are a favourite with the family. Along with the selection of smoothies and milkshakes.

The oval cafe tucked away in a lovely corner its very beautiful but only 1/3 of the magic there a bunch of incredible places like the church which me and my school trip visited I would definitely recommend any other school to visit

I called to try and book Afternoon Tea for 4 adults and 3 babies, given the name of the cake shop. I was really disappointed to be told that we couldn't bring in more than 1 or 2 prams due to health and safety. There would have been 2 prams and a buggy... It's unfortunately not practical to carry a baby all the way from where the car is parked and then have them sit on your lap the whole time. Might be best if you give the name of your cafe a re-think! Mum's do like to have a life too and we don't get much 'Yummy Mummy-ing' done sat indoors at home!

Booked Christmas lunch based on a recommendation and it was a good recommendation. Nick the manager is very accommodating and the food was excellent. The tasting menu had if anything too much food, so no complaints. We eat in central London a lot and some restaurants there could learn from Thompson. The staff were probably all students however they were focused on making sure we had a good time and providing a good level of service. Not the least bit pretentious as some London restaurants can be. We all had the wine pairing which was generous. The prices are not cheap but when we consider the whole experience we thought it was well worth it. Value for money. We were delighted we picked Thompson for Christmas Day.
