Yummy Mummys Cakes in St Albans

I called to try and book Afternoon Tea for 4 adults and 3 babies, given the name of the cake shop. I was really disappointed to be told that we couldn't bring in more than 1 or 2 prams due to health and safety. There would have been 2 prams and a buggy... It's unfortunately not practical to carry a baby all the way from where the car is parked and then have them sit on your lap the whole time. Might be best if you give the name of your cafe a re-think! Mum's do like to have a life too and we don't get much 'Yummy Mummy-ing' done sat indoors at home!

I booked to have cream tea with a friend as I'm having a baby in a few weeks. I called up to say since booking I have gestational diabetes so could they do a savoury scone, brown bread and just a piece of carrot cake for me etc they were so accommodating and how delicious the scone was! I didn't miss out on a special occasion because of this. Will be going back when the baby is born to enjoy the cakes they had to offer. They even gave my friend what would have been my share of cakes to take away!! Lovely friendly staff and amazing they were able to help me with my dietary requirements xx

Had a bespoke birthday cake made here for my birthday. The owner was so accommodating to my requirements. We had a few gluten free friends attending the party and she was more than hay to include two gluten free chocolate cupcakes. The cake itself was beautiful, had a sneak peek at the other cakes going out that day which were all equally amazing. Definitely would recommend getting your celebration cakes made here.

Much better food than a standards hotel afternoon tea. Also much more relaxed atmosphere. Ask to have fillings that you prefer - all is made fresh for you. Everything is delicious!

My mothers 90th Birthday cake was stunning, beautifully decorated and the sponge was as light as a feather. I have never been disappointed by the cakes we have had made there, I would absolutely recommend Thank you so much

I held my baby shower here in April 2018, and it was amazing. The food was lovely and it was decorated beautifully. Marie could not do enough to assist and helped make the event wonderful. I would highly recommend Afternoon Tea and the cakes.

Decided to try this place today for two cokes. one was a zero coke and a diet coke to drink in. We had to wait ages to be served as the staff was out in the outside yard. They charged £5 for the two cokes. I was so angry and disgusted I drank mine so quick just to get out.

Every time one of my children has a birthday or some other special occasion, we get cupcakes from Maria at Yummy Mummy or birthday cakes made to order. (They've nearly left home now but suspect we will continue!) They are without fail delicious. I'm not remotely interested in eating cupcakes from anywhere else, which seem bland and cardboard-like in comparison. Yummy Mummy's buttercream is rich, silky without being waxy, and the vanilla bean flavour is to die for. The sponge is moist with intense flavour. Peanut butter topping exceptionally good too. The team are also friendly and flexible and will go the extra mile to make you happy. I cannot rate this shop highly enough and think it is one of the real high points of Harpenden's high street.

Our regular afternoon tea crowd decided to branch out from our usual hotel visits to try Yummy Mummys. Absolutely brilliant. From making the initial reservation to the excellent service we received and to the top quality food, Maria and her team couldn't have done more for us. Even when they were forced (through no fault of their own) to move us to another table, they more than compensated for it. We will definitely be coming back.

We held a Beauty and the Bump themed baby shower here and it couldn’t have been any better. Maria was amazing, so accommodating, went out of her way to help us decorate according to our theme and even made cakes to match!

This place is run by really lovely people who, if it is quiet, are capable of holding really interesting conversation.

I ordered a cake from Yummy Mummy's Cakes a week ago . It was to celebrate the birthday of a much loved member of my book group and was in the form of the group's least favourite book in over twenty years of monthly meetings (a sort on in joke). The cake was beautiful. Not only did it look great but it was moist and delicious. I cannot thank Maria enough and will definitely use her services again. I was particularly grateful also for the reassurance Maria gave me that the cake was nut free as one of our members is intolerant. Everyone complimented the cake. Great value too

Wonderful 80th birthday cake for 80th birthday with gardener theme, very much admired by all, fruit cake moist and delicious, icing perfect, little man on his knees planting flowers an absolute delight, thank you so much perfect service from beginning to end.

Maria is the best - she made a wonderful Baby TV cake for my granddaughter - Miss Grumpy from Liverpool obviously has no taste buds!! Will be contacting her very soon for another birthday cake order - keep up the good work Maria xxx

We held a baby shower for our friend at Yummy Mummys and it was fantastic! Maria and the team were so helpful from when I made the booking to when we said 'goodbye' at the end of our event. Nothing was too much. They opened on a Sunday just for us and we had the whole shop to ourselves! Our table had been decorated in a baby shower theme which was unexpected and such a lovely touch. The afternoon tea we had was just delicious and there were even cakes for us to take home. A really lovely afternoon was had by all. Thanks so much Maria, I'll definitely be back xx

I wished to have a special birthday cake for my sister. As she is a keen gardner I asked if Yummy Mummys could make a sponge cake with a garden theme. She added a garden shed and a figurine tending to the flowers. A garden path and trees and many flowers. A great success. Thankyou. P S the sponge was delicious also.

Stopped for a quick snack, ie. coffee and cake; cake didn't look too bad but was very dry and in fact inedible. Proprietor apologised and offered taste of alternative but this was just as bad. The cakes being decorated (usually for special occasions), on the premises whilst we were there looked great but no idea what they tasted like.

I must say its not just the visual but the taste...outstanding.....a truly magical little pastry shop. Highly recommend when you want that something special.....

I really like Yummy Mummy Cakes. They are not the cheapest but boy do you get the care and quality that you pay for. My daughter's cup cake was as big as she was. Smile lasted a year and was worth every penny.

I popped in for a birthday cake a week in advance for my Mum's 70th. We ended up getting an amazing tasting cake with a personalised sculpture (in icing) of my Mum's dog sat on top! My Mum was over the moon & I'll definitely be going back again. Ps the prices are exceptional value too!

The cupcakes are the best I've ever tasted! They also do amazing cakes - to order. There is very good customer service in this lovely little cake shop. Please go there!

OMG my cake was absolutely beautiful. I couldnt have asked for anything more creative and beautuful. From the time I walked into the owner Maria's shop her warm smile made me feel so comfortable. I wanted a specific cake for my friend. Diva to the max. Not only was the cake beautifully decorated it was also very moist and deliciously fresh. A true piece of art. Attention to detail was of utmost importance and it was delivered. see for yourself

From what I could tell, this cafe is more about its amazing made-to-order cakes than its interior, which is a shame, because it should be a really good place for tea + cake, but it's somewhat overshadowed by its next door neighbour.

Fab décor and theme, with lots of AMAZING cakes on display. Cupcakes were fresh and very reasonably priced was the coffee and both were delicious, will be returning!
